I think that boxing has the exact same level of violence as MMA, its just done in differnet ways. This really just seems like a case of old people being scared of something new.

Either way, this story LED off the show. That's huge publicity for MMA. I'm sure Dana's kicking himself for not getting that deal done. If you want to be the premier organization in the U.S. (which they currently are.. for now.) You need to expand the brand. Spike TV isn't enough. This isn't the WWE.

Stop being so stubborn. The best fighters in the world should be fighting on network TV. Not fucking Kimbo Slice. Give me a break.

God forbid the UFC lets actual professionals commentate on their matches; instead of Goldberg and the pothead.

It's like the NFL turning down a lucrative TV deal and letting the Arena Football League take the spotlight.

Okay, I'm done. Shit.

More idiocy from Tony Kornhole and Willboner.

Kornhole: This stuff is so violent and so brutal. This stuff can be so savage.

Willboner: (in a little faggot voice) ...and does so successfully! I'm just a little surprised ... but, you know, people like brutality.

These two only agree on the things they know nothing about.

These two douchebags are the reason I hate sportswriters.
As a sportswriter, that hurts me. I respect these guys a great deal and I think they are two of the best voices (in terms of knowledge and opinion) in the sporting landscape. I think their show is the best analytical sports show on TV. Having said that, sure they are ignorant in regards to MMA. They are honest though, and you can't blame them for that. They watch it with their 50-60 yr old minds and experience and see something completely different from what us 20 yr olds see. Quit condemning them for having an opinion.

I agree though, hopefully the ESPN hosts/analysts etc. and other sportswriters like Mariotti and Woody Paige and Skip Bayless (God I hate him) who talk about sports on air will enlighten themselves better about the sport of MMA.
I, too, spent several years as a sportswriter. Over the course of four years with my newspaper I had to become educated on sports like cross country, hockey, half a dozen rodeo events, volleyball and a few others that I had never been exposed to in any depth. The problem with Wilbon, Kornheiser, Mariotti, Paige, etc. is that they are universally condemning MMA without actually watching it or talking to people actively involved in it. They have an obligation to everyone who reads their articles, drivel in many cases, or listens to them bloviate on TV to present accurate and informed opinions, not spout the outdated rhetoric of John McCain from the early 90s.

i think for the time being that mma is seperate from mainstream sports, this is the tip of the iceberg, believe me in 1-2 years these guys will know what they are talking about, it would be like expecting them to know a lot about professional fishing. Can you name a professional fisherman? i can't... ok i lied i remember roland martin only cuz i had a reel with his name on it as a kid....PTI is a good show but i agree with tony being a little too opioninated on MNF.
