The Muscle Shark is going to win bar none.

This is the weakest name that I have ever heard for a UFC event. This makes Validation look good.

Ill will is definitely a weak name for this event but whatever. The card is absolutely sick and arguably the best one this year since every main card fight has some sort of major implications on each division…especially at LHW where Machida, Ortiz, Jardine, Wandy, Thiago, Soko, and Rashad all are in the top 10-15 we’ll say for the division. Huge shake ups after this event cause some of the winners will face each other for a possible #1 contenders match after the Griffin/Rampage fight. There are only two things I hope that happen here…Tito loses and he leaves the UFC for good on a losing note and Rashad wins cause I’m one of the few Rashad fans.

I am a Rashad fan as well, but I see his winning streak coming to a halt against Tiago. Rashad is probably the faster striker but Tiago is more Brutal and has one hell of a chin. Rashad wrestling might not work for him because taking down Tiago may not be such a good idea. Either way, I am very much looking forward to this fight.

I agree…this will be Rashad’s biggest test to date and if he passes…then it’ll be a huge name fight for him next for a possible #1 contenders match. I like Rashad but I’m not going to be disappointed if he loses cause Thiago is good first of all but I think a loss would benefit Rashad just as much as a win would. I think he would learn a lot from a loss and learn to let himself go in fights more often not having to worry about the undefeated record anymore.

You’re right…I think Rashad’s wrestling is a double edged sword in this fight. Thiago suppsoedly has some good BJJ but I’ve never seen it. The reason you don’t see that too often is because he has those heavy hands. Rashad is quicker with the punches and I think if he can learn to kick legs like Jardine…that would help out a lot. Rashad might have an edge in the strength department and can hopefully pick him up like Tito and slam him. Rashad needs to really work on the ground and pound if he wants to avoid submission attempts from Silva. They both have solid chins so it should be a war.

I wonder, had BJ not Called out Sherk at UFC80 and Sherk not responded to him at UFC80 (All Live), would this UFC still have the same name??? Granted there was a bit of talking betwwen the two in the media before that night at UFC80 “Sherk Ya dead” but everyone had an opinion about Sherks suspension especially after he was found guilty not just BJ Penn, people just value his opinion more so it got more media love. And MMArtists talk sh*t all the time before a fight ya know, Live at events and in the Media . . . I guess the question i pose to the rest of my forum friends is what would you rename this UFC?
Ive heard “UFC84: Penn, Sherk And A Bunch Of Lightheavy-Weights” and “UFC84: Sherk Ya Dead” The Sherk Ya Dead would be my pick, sounds accurate LoL! What names you guys got . . .

Why, is that what you want to see? If that’s truely the case, I’d recommend you rent some gay porn for $5 instead of paying $45 to see the fights.

As for the card, Ortiz/Machida, Silva/Jardine, and Evan/Silva are all TOP NOTCH fights where any one of them could have been a headlinging fight along with a main event (meaning, the 2nd biggest fight on the card, and the one that we’d see featured during the second half of UFC Countdown). Instead, we get treated to all 3 of them in one night with Penn/Sherk as the main event. That is a solid main card!!!

Hell Yeah! Undercard is somewhat intruiging as well. Rusimar is supposed to be a good addition to the UFC. I know nothing about him but I am curious. The new 23 year old croation ju jitsu fighter makes his debut. As well as WAR MACHINE back in action. very curious to find out who is opponent will be.

Great card!

personally i would like to see penn win this fight but i dont see it happening. Sherk was able to beat franca a bjj black belt without even coming to close to getting submitted and yea franca had him in a couple of chokes but i dont think anybody is going to choke out sherk his neck is huuuuuggggeee. I think sherk will be able to take penn down and control him for five rounds and possibly finish him if penn gases which is likely.

Yea, Sherk is gonna smash BJ’s head in, just like Hughes, GSP, Pulver, Stevenson, Gomi, and Renzo did, oh wait BJ smashed all their heads in, oooops . . . And all of them with the exception of Pulve/Stevenson have or would slaughter Sherk. I wish people that throw this kind of 1 liner crap predictions up on the orum would back it with some facts/reasoning. Probably dont because they know how rediculous these statements are. I don’t know, I felt Wandi held back (although just a tiny amount) when he fought Chuck, or it was more like he tried to be more of a tactical striker as opposed to his normally agressive style, and i think he knows it too which is one of the reasons he was calling for a rematch with Chuck. but yeh, I agree with Mike that Wandi will be too much for KJ, I REFUSE to believe that Wandi can lose this fight. In my opinion, there was no need to talk about one man tea-bagging another. When I think of BJ Penn vs Sean Sherk, the thought of the two of them naked with one standing over the other dunking his balls into the others’ mouth doesn’t pop into my head. This is how the poster should be, thank god Ortiz wanst anywhere to be seen, this is about the LW title fight!!

Having said all that, I will be betting the house on Penn. He is the surest bet out there, and agaisnt Sherk, his odd’s shouldn’t be all too bad, this is the time to strike!! Every dollar in my Betus account is going on Penn come time for 84.

Every dollar in my Betus account is going on Penn come time for 84.[/quote]

I don’t really care for Jardine, but the truth of the matter is he really does deserve a title shot if he wins(which I doubt). He beat Liddell and Forrest, and I think he lost to Houston in a shamefull manner because he did not take him seriously.

This card will shape the LH div for the next two years. 4 main event matches, plus Sokouju vs. Nakamura, so each of the televised fights are freaking awesome, cant wait!!!!! I still say Tito vs. Shogun or Wandy would’ve been a better match up.

sPEAKING OF hUGHES VS. Penn, I woke up at 4:30 in the morning for some reason and I couldnt go back to sleep, so a twisted a lil something and popped in uFC 47 SuperNatural, The 1st time Bj won the title, making Matt Hughes look like a schoolgirls.

That was a priceless event. So many fighters on that card have become gig names now. For instance Matt Serra vs. Jeff Curran…that was an awesome fight

GSP vs. Karo was on the prelims and now they are top 5 fighters.

It reminded me that fighters and the UFC have come a long way.

Well first off Hughes and GSP were much much bigger than Penn and Sherk isn’t going to have this advantage. But if you watch those two fights Penn was dominating Hughes before he broke his rib and gave GSP one of the closest fights of his career. BJ Penn will outstrike Sherk and his BJJ is on another level from anyone else in the lightweigh or weilterweight division for that matter. Sherk will be in trouble anywhere this fight goes. Just watch GSP vs Sean Serk if you wanna see a preview of how this fight will go.

Trust me the difference between Franca’s BJJ and BJs BJJ is night and day. Don’t get me wrong Franca has some great BJJ but not all black belts are equal. BJ has 4 arms for crying out loud. Plus he has much much better take down defense than Franca. I mean GSP had trouble taking BJ down and he took Koz, Matt Hughes, and Serk down at will so that says a lot about BJs take down defense.

Trigg said he didn’t try to choke out Hughes in there second fight cuz it felt like he was grabbing a horse neck, that was after Penn choked hughes dizzy and won the championship. If you’r BJJ is good enough, you can choke anybody, like GSP4prez already said, all black belts in BJJ are no where near the same, some our white belts compared to others, and Sherk can be choked no problem.

And yeah Penn’s take down defense is on par with GSP’s, so Sherk better be ready for that.
I don’t, however, see Penn taking Sherk down, unless it’s cuz he knocks him down with some punches.

Sherk is only 5′6, Penn is 5′9. Has Penn ever faught anyone that short? How tall are Hughes, Pulver, Stevenson, Uno and Gomi??? I think sherks the shortest except for maybe Uno . . . Sherks gonna look like a rag doll, lamb to slaughter!

He fought Serra. I’m Pretty sure Serra is about the same height. Penn has superior striking,Bjj,and takedown defense. Sherk has the strength and wrestling advantage.Bj F’d up GSP’s face before he got tired. Not many people can do that. Bj is constanly working on his cardio. And against GSP was the old BJ, The new Penn drops ‘em in 2 from those same punches. Sherks gonna look like a ragdoll and i hope when he tries to give BJ his back BJ doesnt take it an just keeps hitting him but not enough for the ref to stop it, like what he did to Jans and somewhat Stevenson. But with sherk hell, when he gives up the back to Penn, Penn should get up off of him and make him stand back up and take more punishment ’til he throws in the towell or it goes to a unanimous bloody decision but not to let him out easy no matter what!!! Lamb To Slaughter! “its just the wrong time to fight BJ Penn” Make an example of ‘em BJ! Theres a reason why no one comes back for seconds win or lose, Jans had nuts for being the first to fight BJ in his new found life. And hes the one with the least reason to ever except a 2nd bout with BJ. Gomi should want one the worst simply to prove his #1 ranking status and should be stoked that BJ came all the way back down to 155lbs (what long time BJ Penn fan can believe it, its almost funny to see him kicking *ss after all these years of backing him through random failures that should never had happened) but Gomi’s he’s in no rush LoL GSP As well, to answer any Q’s about who won that first fight, but i dont see him saying anything, Penn had to come back for Hughes to prove it wasnt a fluke (Matt would have retired happily with never fighting Penn a 2nd time) (You dont see him looking for Dennis Hallman ya know) Intstead Penn will have to seek them out, Hughes (III), GSP II & III, Machida II, Silva I II, (I only say Silva I and II because when Penn gets the first two theres no reason for a III)
