“UFC 82 Countdown” to “Pride of a Champion” debuts tonight (February 25) at 11 p.m. ET on SpikeTV to promote the huge pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Here’s the show description from UFC.com:
“Brazil’s Anderson Sliva prepares to defend his middleweight title against PRIDE® titleholder Dan Henderson. See how they train, what they eat and what they are doing to prepare in their homes in Brazil and California.”
That monster showdown between champions — Henderson is the last man to hold the Pride FC 183-pound belt — is the main event bout on a 10-fight card that is brimming with talent and important fights from bottom to top.
Heavyweights Heath Herring and Cheick Kongo will clash in a bout that will move the winner one step closer to a shot at division champion, Minotauro Nogueria, and Jon Fitch will attempt to topple Chris Wilson with the hopes that a win will lead to an eventual crack at the 170-pound title.
Former heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski, and top welterweights Josh Koscheck and Diego Sanchez will also be in action albeit in separate bouts. And Evan Tanner will begin his comeback after two years of inactivity when he takes on top 185-pound contender, Yushin Okami.

It’s an exciting and perhaps more important, meaningful, night of fights that are worth getting excited about; therefore, definitely tune-in tonight to catch UFC 82 Countdown.
If you miss the debut tonight the episode will re-air several times, including this Wednesday (February 27) at 11:00 p.m. and on fight day, Saturday (March 1) at 6 p.m. ET. In addition, the episode will be featured on MTV2 on Thursday (February 28) at midnight.

Go Fitch!
Is the Evan Tanner bout going to be the bout right before the main event? I hope so because, I might miss the first fight or two on Saturday.

I think it is the 2nd televised fight.
go anderson silva show herderson who the man is at 185lbs.
It would be nice of Leben and Herring to finish their fights quickly so I get to see AA’s last UFC bout and Diego fresh out of his newely established camp. IS Diego missing the same ____ with no Greg Jackson? we’ll find out.
Great Card. Just further irratates the shit out of me that we pay rising PPV fees and we still don’t get the entire card.
-As big a fan as I am I have a line and Dana your standing on it.
im looking forward to seeing alessio sakara at 185, hell probably be pretty solid as long as he cuts right

Couldn’t agree more. I still don’t understand why the entire card is not available on the PPV. I will say that the last two PPV’s all but one fight on each card was shown but that’s the exception and unfortunately not the norm.

UFC doesn’t air all the fight so us poor saps can pay more money to watch them on UFC On Demand. More money for Dana and the deep pockets. This really sucks this time becuase this card is SOOO GOOD! I am hoping all the aired fights are 1st or 2nd round KOs so us poor saps get to see the whole card.
War free fights!!!
Should be a great card. Heath looks surprisingly in a lot better shape than before. He will definitely be challenged by the monster muscle ball named Kongo.
The countdown episode was good
I think its disrespectful that the UFC has not given anderson his own ALL ACCESS seeing as this is his 4TH title defense!

I think the next All Access will probably be BJ Penn before his fight with Sherk. BJ’s been working his cardio hard and has his own camp in Hawaii so it would make a good episode I think.
I guess Anderson’s not had an episode yet because of the language barrier… Wandy’s episode was a bit hit or miss with some dubbing… Still loved the snorkel-training though

Yep. I agree with both of you. My personal solution is paying 10 bucks to the local bar that shows the fights. Great atmosphere, beer, liquor, women and guys beating the hell out of each other on t.v. All in all, the makings of a good evening.

Personally, I dont like watching the UFC at a crowded Bar. From a $ standpoint, it ends up costing much more then the $45 you would pay for ordering the event. Also, I like to watch the events alone, or with my brother and a few other freinds at home, where I can blaze and focus on the event with out all being distracted by drunkin idiots and hot girls.
I missed Countdown to UFC: 82 last night. Which fights did it feature: Silva vs. Hendo and Kongo vs. Hearing?

yes it was. it was about 90% hendo/silva and 10% kongo/herring. kongo looked impressive training w/ rampage under juanito. rampage did a very funny impersination of cheik as well.

Thanks B.W… Kongo still training with Juanito and Rampage is very interesting and should pay dividends in his fight with Hearing!

I agree. Don’t like the bar for watching fights. I don’t understand why we pay so much and don’t get to see the whole card either. It is starting to piss me off more each month.
The UFC is mounting a major offensive to crush whatever competition there may be.
Its always been 9 fights per card now this has 10 the upcoming fight night has a forcast of 12 bouts. Dana and the fratietas realize that the circumstances of randy, fedor, possibly arlovski if he has another boor fest, mirko cro cop, and the upstart of Dream is not good for the UFC.
So they react like any good business model should by giving the customer exactly what they want and more of it by putting on incredible fight cards inculding this one and all the others in the forseeable future. Not only that but advertising these great cards aggressively. 2 years ago ufc fans were aware of the upcoming ufc and maybee some of the bouts on the very next card but now ufc fans know nearly every fight card that will take place up to june of this year. So even if your pissed off about ppv prices going up or upset about the ufc not willing to release randy without a fight or you dislike dana for his antics or any other reason for that matter. The mma fan cant help but to be a supporter of the ufc wether they like it or not.
Dan henderson is definitely in Silvas head and I think when he steps into the octogon with dan he will be scared of the possibility of losing his belt.
Dan Henderson “im ganna kick his ass” how does silva react by laughing which was to cover up his fear
I was the biggest PRIDE fan out there, but I never actually ordered a PRIDE event on pay per view…. I just collected the ’sCan anyone who has purchased a PRIDE event on pay per view tell me how many fights they actually aired?
