vera will definately win this, werdum is good, but he was losing the gonzaga fight until fabricio caught him w/ knees (and that was one of gonzaga's worst performances). no way fabricio wins this, my moneys on vera.
ViolentMike: Sometime around next wednesday I would like to start looking at the odds with you and we can pick each others brains about the event.
Off the top of my head.... I feel that either Koschek or Diego will get upset, or maybe both. I feel that Hazlett and Beilkheden are both worth $25 - $50 bets. You dont have to bet big on underdogs because even if you only bet $25....it will most likely win $100.,..... Mike, we will have to start analyzing the odds next week, we will come up with some solid bets.
I wont be betting the main event...thats for sure! That fight will be so exciting, that no need to have action on t he fight
because it will be ultra exciting anyway.
Since the Hazlett odds are so good, his value has to warrant a small wager on him. Before the odds change, I am going to lay something on Hazlett today. As for the rest of the fight... I will worry about that next week.
Sounds like a plan John. Did I ever email you my phone number?

Kitsunex: U brought up a good point. I too like to see how fighters look at the weigh ins. It helps a lot when deciding who to wager on.... Very good point!

I just dont understand why so many mma fans hate the grappling aspect of a fight. I think grappling can be very exciting, especially when some one is punching you in the face while attempting submissions. Of Course some ground fights are terribly boring (for example Sherk), but 2 high skilled ground technitions like Werdum and Verra should make for a very exciting fight.
Oh god man, could not, repeat could NOT agree more. This is what i'm talking about. There is nothing better than a techniqual ground war, you can see everything going on, there are some many little things taht make a differnce from teh simplest tricks to get around somebodies guard, a good, and I mean a good ground war (ALA PARISYAN Vs NICK DIAZ) is some of the best fights ever, much rather see that than a Forrest/Bonner.
Thank you anamoly. YOu are one of the bloggers who's posts I look forward to reading and I value your oppinion a lot. We tend to disagree at times, but instead of just attcking each other we knowledagbly debate topics. keep doing what you do!

Hey John, betus has almost every fight for UFC 82 on there!
I am so tempted to look at the odds, but If I start thinking about it this soon, I will change my mind a million times by the time next weekend rolls around.

VM: U still got that superbowl money in your Betus account? If so, time to build that account up and what better way to do so then UFC 82.
YES I DO! I jumped on Hazelett early in case the odds start to change in his favor, I can't picture too much money going on Kos at minus 500. I was actually just about to divy up my money amongst the fights, but I think I'll take your advice and wait until the day before the PPV. Because I too can picture myself changing my mind. Plus the week of a PPV I really get into a lot more than I am right now. Although, next week is the week of the PPV.
i like to wait and see how they look at the weigh ins first. that can tell you a lot about the state of mind/body a fighter is in.
The Best betting advice I can offer is that when trying to make up your mind on what fights to bet during a certain event, you have to expect about 3-6 upsets. Dry to Identify what favorites are susceptible to being upset... then you identify what underdogs have good chances of pulling off an upset. THen I bet accordingly.

For example.... The boetsch vs. Heath fight: I bet Boetsch, but I didnt know anything about him. THe reason I took Boetsch
was simply because I felt that Heath was one of the favorites that was most sesceptible to being upset.

So because the fight will go to the ground, in your oppinion that automatically makes it a boring fight? Maybe the UFC isnt for you....u should try out K-1
hey man... no need to get all bitchy.. i just think slow, methodical grappling can get boring.. what are you? the judge who decides who can watch the UFC?
Keep in mind that Werdum's striking has progressed since joining Chute Box, and by the time June rolls around it will be even better. I expect this fight to be all over the place....Stand up, Clinch, Ground...... I dont understand why you think that this will be a boring match up.

and YES, u have my permission to watch UFC 82! lol

How did Vera earn this matchup? Oh wait, he didn't whatsoever... he'll be done as a heavyweight soon enough. This is obviously the best matchup you could throw at him, it's someone who's closer to a title shot, and one of the smallest heavyweights in the UFC. I see this as babying Vera; again, he definitely doesn't deserve this fight because it leaps him up in the title shot order. I'm not saying it's not going to be a good scrap, but I am saying that Vera is incredibly overhyped and sooner or later he's gonna realize he can't compete in the heavyweight division. I wish it would have been Brock, I really do.
To bad , the rest of us are sick of watching Vera destroy B level fighters in the first round. It's time to up the competition a bit don't you think, or should Vera go BACKWARDS and fight Eddie Sanchez. What part of 4-1 in the UFC doesn't earn him a fight with a guy who is 1-1?
good point and good example of typical backwards logic that fanboys use on this site.
