“I think I can challenge for the middleweight title but it’s a very deep division with a lot of new guys coming in…. I definitely feel I’m a contender already but I know I have to establish myself in that weight class and prove myself by winning some fights.”
It’s important to note that “The Count” is never quoted directly even mentioning the name of “The Spider” in this interview. However, he must have made statements that indicated something to that effect for the writer to publish the headline and lead graph. Regardless, his chances make for a good debate. Bisping — the 205-pound winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 — makes his middleweight debut against Charles McCarthy at UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2″ at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on April 19.

Hey its the Sun News Paper we are talking about here in the UK. They have written about UK super stars eating hamsters and shit like that. The only thing really true in that paper are the football scores in the back page!!
Oh dear. Michael makes more friends!!!!
I would LOVE to see Anderson Silva put his knees through Bisping’s hugely overrated abilities. If it happened now, I’d call it for a Silva KO Bisping in round 1.
only if u tie andersons hands and legs
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! First of all, before he talks about Silva, Silva has to get by Hendo, and that’s no easy task, and to me it goes either either way. But he is saying that he is a contender? BOUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Here’s the way I see it with these various fighters:
Bisping vs
Silva: Submission by strikes in round 1
Hendo: KO round 1
Franklin: TKO round 1
GSP: Sumbmission by kimura, arm bar, or rear naked choke in round 1 or probably round 2
LOL even Matt Hughes or BJ would OWN him. He’s talking Silva? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
He should fight Hamill again cause we all know he lost in that one
trust me you dont know british newspapers! Bisping said absolutley nothing about silva, they always make up sh*t. If you lived in england you would know that. Your forgetting this is where we would see the true bisping cos silva aint gonna take it to the mat. Muay thai and kick boxing is bisping bread and butter. Really couldnt see him getting knocked out at all
i think bisping has had one too many pints of guiness
I really hope McCarthy destroys him. I don’t see a future for Bisping in the UFC. How can he consider himself a contender at middleweight when he didn’t prove anything at light heavy? Maybe after a few losses he’ll decide to drop down to welterweight….get a clue buddy. you suck!
why does he suck cos hes british i hope he smashes anderson everywere!

I think your right! I think Silva ’s strikes would kill him pryor to giving him the oppurtunity to fall unconcious. Bisping standing with Anderson Silva…. what a joke!
The only fight I give credit to Bisping for was the Rashad fight. We can Bash Bisping all we want but he was impressive in that loss to Rashad. In the end, the better fighter won, Bisping lost, but I was much more impressed with a loss to a good fighter like Rashad, than any of his wins vs. Shaefer and Sinosic.
He couldn’t even beat Hamill. If Bisping was from the states he might not even have a UFC contract.
Michael, pleas pass the dutch.
alll fighters hypes end some day anderson silvas is next 2 go
I would like to see maybe a match up between Bisping vs. Grove maybe on UFN card.
Until Bisping faces on of these fighters…I could care less about him:
Lutter
Cote
McFedries
J-mac
even Leben for crying out load.
Fight someone decent for Christ sake. You Headlined a pay per view against rashad back in November and now you fight Charles McCarthy….I have had enough of Bisping, his management team, and the UFC who are all at fault for his horrible opponents!
Evan Tanner is a Warrior, he has been drunk on his ass on a boat somewhere for the past 2 years, and what does he do…He fights a top guy like Okami.
Bisping won TUF like 2 years ago and he is still fighting Bums!

So obviously you think Bisping beat Hamill right? pff….
Oh and by the way, I read the WHOLE ARTICLE, and YES HE DOES MENTION SILVA! He said he thinks he could be the one to “end his reign” to be precise.
is it april fools day
I dont think he’s ready for Silva yet. He needs to whoop up on a few MW first.
Could u imagine if Wanderlei vs. Bisping took place under Pride rules? Bisping would be getting blasted with soccer kicks to the face all night and eventually wanderlei would start stomping on his head….it would be poetry in motion! lol
He should fight Hamill again cause we all know he lost in that one
Get over IT!!!! The Hamil fight is over! Forget about the rematch, they aren’t even in the same division anymore. I am happy I dont have to sit through another Hamil vs. Bisping fight.

This guy is 100% correct about our British press, they are ALL idiots that write nothing but bull**** trust me on this.
BUT… Bisping would get KTFFFFF out by many current middleweights. Anderson Silva would seriously damage the guy it would be a complete mismatch. Rich Franklin would own him too along with at least 10 other guy we could name and Jujitsu guys like Lutter would submit him easy peasy!.
I’m from England but I agree if Bisping was from the US, he would probably not get a UFC contract. I think he’s a good “JOEY” and poster boy for Dana and co to fill up a stadium when the UFC comes to the UK. He is good but definitely not that good
Everyone can have a dream right. Michael, keep on dreaming!

I agree with all of this. It’s time to put up or shut up for Bisping. I’m so tired of all the hype surrounding this guy. As a LHW he was slow at the best of times in my opinion so he better step up his game and get some hand speed to be in this division if he hopes to contend. For him to say he’s already in the contention mix is rubbish…he hasn’t even fought anyone in the division yet.
I think Bisping himself has a lot to do with his substandard opponents…if he believed in his own hype he would ask for better opponents…we’ve seen the UFC give fighters the fights they ask for (ie Pellegrino vs Diaz). I think the UFC is to blame here as well cause they want to protect their UK golden boy.
I think Bisping has some good skills but he hasn’t beaten anyone of consequence in the UFC yet…unless you count that “win” over Hamill. I don’t see Bisping getting by Leben or Cote or J-Mac out of that list as it stands right now. He really needs to put on a really decisive win in order to gain any respect. I’ll be at UFC 83 and I’m not really looking forward to this fight only because McCarthy is a terrible fighter plain and simple and a win for Bisping doesn’t hold much value.
Bisping- is very overated and Silva would kill him, enough said.
Bisping can’t even hang with Hamill, letalone Silva…ahahhahaahah
hey mania – you really shouldn’t use The Sun newspaper as a source for uk mma news, or any news for that matter. everyone here knows the sun is rammed full of made up crap – the only thing its good for is the page 3 tits out column.
It’s The Sun newspaper. When writing their stories they don’t worry about unimportant things such as the truth. That thing isn’t fit for wiping your arse with.
I don’t think he’ll be much more than a gate keeper and a money maker in the UK.

In his last 2 fights rashad was a dead man, maybe overtrained, but he gassed almost immediately, so you cannot give credit to bisping for that fight.
They should have had Bisping vs. Belcher on UFC 83 card. After Cote had to back out the Belcher fight, they should have just scratched McCarthy and had Bisping vs. Belcher.
Belcher isnt even top 10 at Middleweight, but he would have still been the best opponent besides Rashad that Bisping has ever faced in the UFC, plus it would have been an exciting stand up fight.

Need a replacement fighter at LHW? I’d say if Boetsch beats Hamill…put him in there for UFC 85. Or he could even go against Hamill if he wins. If Hendo loses…then ask him to go back up in weight maybe. Maybe even put Bonnar in there for UFC 85 for a rematch (Bonnar has called out Jardine for a rematch…not sure why because he won but it was controversial). Other than that…most of the top tier LHWs are already in rumoured matches.
he has alot to prove b4 he can think like that..
You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk ?
Bisping shouldnt even mention Silvas name! He would get KTFO in the first round. He would be completely destroyed. He should be focusing on other fighter in that division which he would also have difficulty beating like Lutter, Franklin Marquadt. Then he should focus on the two big ones in Henderson and Silva. But to say hes already a contender I think he was smoking some real strong stuff. Hes hardly proved himself in the LHW having not impressed in his fights. Hes got su much to prove before even being considered to be in an elimination fight.
The only reason people even hear the name bisbing recently is because ufc useds him for marketing in the uk. Now that uk lost money, buy buy bisbing. Give him Spider and a bus ticket home after. And maybe a drug test or a brain test lol.
wow, is he stoned?
LMAO! He must be high to think he’s a top contender, Maybe he should fight Jason McDonald he’s “TUF Killer”. Maybe after that he’ll keep dropping weight ’til he goes to WEC and fight in the FW division
Bisping and Hamill will never see a rematch, and thank God. I have absolutely no interest in seeing them fight again.
As far as who really won the fight, the judges said Bisping won, so guess what? Bisping won. It’s that simple. Controversial, maybe. But the winner is the one who gets his hand raised.
As for challenging for the belt, we’ll only know after he’s established himself in the middleweight division.

He must be Dreaming…matter-o-fact…that’s where he should fight. Hear they are looking for losing fighters (CroCop). Maybe he’d be the man there but someone pinch him, hit him, kick him…whatever to wake him up.

Jardine should have just faced Machida. That would provide some clarity to the tangled top of the division. Machida beating Tito means nothing in my oppinion and Jardine has to fight a quality opponent after just beating chuck.I think that the UFC wants Jardine on the UFC 84 card so most fighters wont have enough time to train to face him at that date. Keep in mind Jardine hasn’t fought since September, he needs a fight ASAP…the only possible opponent I see for Jardine that would make any sense if wanderlei decides to drop down to 185 lb has to be Soukoudjou. But soko is a dangerous fight for Jardine because all the SOKO has some what of a “name” beating him may not be enough to get a shot in that STACKED LHW division, and loosing to SOKO (which is very possible) will derail all his title hopes!

Why the hate on Rashad? He has done better then many other TUF winners thus far. The man won the show at heavyweight…he has to get some credit and he is still undefeated in the UFC. He beat Tito in my oppinion, and if the fight was 1 minute longer he would have finished Tito. He clearly beat Bisping who did win TUF. Rashad isnt my favorite fighter, but I have to respect his Game. If he can beat Tiago Silva, he will only be 1 more big win away before getting a title shot. keep in mind Tiago is NO JOKE!
You may not like a certain fighter, but learn to respect and appreciate their skills.
BISPING COULDN’T FIGHT HIS WAY OUT OF A WET PAPER BAG!
DANA, PLEASE FEED BISPING TO SILVA, WE ALL WANT HIM TO GET CRIPPLED AND HAVE TO RETIRE.
Okay this is a fcuking farce. Not that Bisping has said that he would beat Anderson but the paper. Anything you say is taken out of context by those media scum, give the guy a break. The quote says challenge anyway. That could be interpreted as he might get a no1. contender matchup somewhere down the line. That is genuinely plausible.
He’s where Bisping is at:
He’s not as good as some UK fans make out and he’s not as bad as some of Americans make out.
i hope micheal reads this blog and threads…. because micheal u stand no shot against the spider…none zero.. if you cant even beat hammil no well on earth that will happen…
wow, is he stoned?
Are you? Or can you just not read?
REGODAMNDICULIS……Bisping is being bred to be a money maker in the UFC’s UK endeavors. He will continue to fight sub par fighters. The only fighters he beat is Welterweights Josh Haynes and Ross Pointon(who both cant make it as WW in smaller shows. Well, he beat the very 1 dimensional Red Shaffaer. Oh and Elvis Sinosic. Lost to Hammil, couldnt even beat a worn out out of shape Rashad.
And now he is talking about winning some fights. Sure anyone can win the fights that he is handed. What a joke that he even considers himself a top contender. When he beats 2 or 3 top 10 MW then, just maybe he can call himself a fighter, till then he is just a money maker that the UFC makes look pretty good by facing him against very sub par opponents
I am really looking forward to Bisping at this weight class – much better suited and I think he will do really well and yes, eventually earn a title shot. Don’t be suprised guys if he starts to beat some of the top contenders.
Goodluck to him and guys … just because he’s not a yank, dont be a hater.
I think he needs to rematch “The Hammer” first. He won by decision against a guy that barley has any MMA experience… whoooooooooo
This contests with Tito for some of the most ridiculous statements i’ve ever heard.

I do agree that Bisping will be a better fighter at 185 lb than he was at 205 lb…the problem is we will never know until he faces a decent opponent. I dont think they think to highly of his skills in the UFC. Dana seems to be afraid to match him up against anyone of importance

Bisbing can be MW champ is henderson somehow falls and breaks his arm during anderson fight. But im pretty sure Hendo wins and that completely fucks over bisbing. But yeah bisbing can indefinitely beat rich franklin and most everyone in that weight only problems are spider hendo.

Back to Bisping…Fight Tanner after McCarthy.
Bisping draws big crowds whenever the UFC is in England, so expect by the end of the year, Silva/ Hendo winner vs. Bisping.

and who’s he faced with stand-up anywhere close to anderson silva’s or even half a dozen the other guys in the middleweight division?
rich franklin, who has a similarly busy stand up style to bispings, but brings more power and technical skill was destroyed twice by silva, if you’ve forgotten.
Bisping has far better standup than Rich Franklin and his takedown defence is second only to Chuck Lidells. Franklin belongs to a previous generation of fighters. Could u see a young Rich Franklin winning the belt among the current crop of fighters? I couldn’t, but i could seed Bisping doing it among this current generation. Would the American haters give Bisping a break for one second. He beat Hamill, suck it up and reserve your judgement.
You must be smoking serious herb to believe its debatable? This man is just plain useless.
the burden of proof is certainly not with you, Rilly, so I’ll keep judging until I see Bisping gain a win worth note.
I’d say Chainsaw McCarthy will submit him, remember the fight with Sinosic? He almost lost.
McCarthy hasn’t fought in over a year, he has had all the time in the world to rest, and no pressure at all.
I’d throw 20 smackers down on Captain Miserable given the likely 350 or so odds.

How many beers do you drink before you watch Bisbing LOL. He’s a “TUF” guy sure but not in the UFC with anyone in the top ten he will get destroyed. To name a few Silva, Henderson, Franklin, Cote, Tanner, Lousiou, Okami and soon Wanderlai Silva. This guy is a joke and I dont think he will last in UFC IMHO
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed.
I think there is a lot of ignorence shown on this topic. Bisping will make waves at 185.
I am not saying he can beat Hendo or Silva but who else is there? Franklin (mentally scarred), Okami (no real threat), Leben (meathead with no real ability), Tanner (washed up… litterally), i could go on.
The fact of the matter is Bisping is a sharp striker who will be big for the division… remember this is the biggest weight drop in the UFC.
He struggles against wrestlers yes but if you look at it only Hendo is a better wrestler than Rashad and Bisping came very close to beating him.
Give him a chance, let him walk through ‘tupperwere’ McCarthy then throw him in with some serious competition so he can shut the haters up.

as for Bisping, I like the guy, he has a marketable personality and he has some serious skills but I am not sold on him. Someone said he only has trouble against wrestlers and that he can beat all the strikers at middleweight…. I dont think he could even get past Kendall “fragile Jaw” Grove
Kendall “fragile Jaw” Grove lol that was funny
He will be Anderson Silva the way he beat Hammill. Only if the UFC wants him to win. I wish they would put him in there now so he could have his nose pushed to the back of his head..
Good luck to MB. Silva isn’t Eric Shafer or Elvis Sinosic. Bisping is dreaming.

You guys are all the same…… blah blah blah….. You are the same guys who say: chuck is overated, houston will batter thiago, wanderlei will beat chuck, sokoudjou (?) will batter machida. You’ll forgive me for making my own mind up on the matter. Although bisping hasnt fought the greatest competition (he would admitt that himsef) but it is no coincidence that the only 2 fights he has struggled in were against wrestlers. If he struggles against a stand up fighter or a jujitsu guy then cool but he hasnt yet.
I agree, and I am willing to look past this McCarthy fight….only if he then steps up the quality of competition that he faces. McCarthy has to be the last Bum Bisping ever fights. He is a 30 year old man….get in there and mix it up and test your self against the best. If I were Bisping, I wouldnt get back into the Octagon until they gave me a quality opponent, Him and his management team have to DEMAND better opponents to test himself against….After all isnt that what mma is truly about?
Wow! Hammil gave Bisping a worse beating than I thought!
Get his statement when he is lucid.
I wish another Brit fighter (one more deserving to carry the torch) would break into the UFC scene so that The Count could be counted out.
He wouldn’t stand a chance against silva.
the burden of proof is certainly not with you, Rilly, so I’ll keep judging until I see Bisping gain a win worth note.
Fair call

Bisping has far better standup than Rich Franklin and his takedown defence is second only to Chuck Lidells. Franklin belongs to a previous generation of fighters. Could u see a young Rich Franklin winning the belt among the current crop of fighters? I couldn’t, but i could seed Bisping doing it among this current generation. Would the American haters give Bisping a break for one second. He beat Hamill, suck it up and reserve your judgement.
Hey Al Cook, all i ask is that you remember this conversation. I really think he might give the Middle’s a nudge.
I would love to see Bisping and Hamil again. I can’t respect someone leaving a weight class w/ unfinished business. Its clear Hamil was robbed(by Herb Dean ironicly) Its clear Dana White is following the path of professional wrestling. But in the mean time after Anderson lays waste to Henderson I would love to see Bisping get his arrogant english ass worked over by someone like Anderson. Bottom line Bisping is highly over rated. He obviously thinks HE is the shit. I agree w/ the other comment, If he wasn’t a Britt would he even have a contract. Im a 155er and I’d love to fight him
I think Bisping could challenge for teh middleweight crown but I dont know if he could take it. I would like to see him have a couple more fights to see how he stands at middleweight, Im sure it will be better than he was at LHW though as those guys would just sit on him for 15mins.
Come on Bisping my son.
Bisping for all intense and purposes has every chance to get up in the middle weight standings or even perhaps vanish. Look at arlovski, silva, franklin, Hughes, Lawler etc. most lavished over these guys – where are they now. This is a sport of technicality, ability and (I hate to say it) LUCK. I can see all of you in 3 years booing silva, GSP et all too. Give ALLL of these guys credit for what they do and the excitement they bring us. If Bisping was a phoney (which he’s not if you knew his mma/kickboxing fights) he would never be in the UFC – let alone be a TUF winner. Come on guys let the future decide and stop waving your dicks around – get in the ring yourselves and feel what it’s like then comment.Bisping as long as you bring a decent fight, whatever the outcome, I’ll support and respect you. Go on my son!!!!

At last, some sense has been posted. I agree that Silva is far ahead and would win against Bisping. I dont think theres anyone who would doubt that. But i could g’tee that Bisping would destroy every single one slating him on this list.
Best thing for this is let the bloke fight and his fights determin how good or bad he is…..period…..
bisping would be to much for sliva enough said… all you franklin and hendo fans get off the fucking silva bandwagon
I just enjoy watching guys being thrown into the ring with Anderson…. It’s fun to watch how he picks them apart.. I think Michael would make it longer than we all would expect. I think he moves well and fairly quick. I think Anderson would win, but I think many of you would be surprised at how well Bisping would do in comparison to others that stood against Anderson.
Peace!
