chuck vs forrest griffin in late 2008 i hope
Haha..This season seems too extreme..I like the concept of 32 fighters to start.. Much needed for the middlewieght division.
I forget how huge Forrest is for 205…he’s gotta have 3-4 inches on Rampage…
LOL, “I’m just a quiet jerk”
The Rampage vs. Griffin fight is so interesting. It’s gonna be a very close fight. I gotta go with Griffin. Couture is gonna train him so hard and we will see the best Forrest Griffin ever, when he fights Rampage. Griffin by decision.
I can’t wait to see this season of TUF. They couldn’t have picked two more entertaining coaches.
Someone mentioned they wanted to see Chuck vs. Forrest in ‘08…. I’m simply looking forward to a rematch with the “Dean of Mean”.
I don’t see how Forrest can win this fight, unless he is able to eek out a decision win by using his reach advantage and throwing jabs all night. Because other than the reach advantage, Rampage holds every single advantage in this fight.
we love you Forrest!

Forrest definitely has the reach advantage, and I think IF the fight goes into the later rounds his conditioning may give him a slight edge. You can’t deny that, much like Couture, Forrest can simply wear a guy down over time.
Forrest is one of my favorite Light Heavyweights. That being said, with the exception of the TUF finale he has always been a “slow starter.” It seems to take him a bit of time to find his pace and get into a groove. Going up against Rampage, he’s not going to have the time to settle in.

HOW? is that what you wanna know HOW? well he is going to win this fight because the Master Mind of disecting MMA fighters will train him, Randy Couture will exploit every single strengh and weakness of Rampage and prepare Griffin far too well! Don’t bet against Couture, Don’t bet against Couture’s best fighter!

Why does Forrest get the edge in the later rounds? He has never went 5 rounds in his life. Rampage just fought at a high level against Henderson (one of the greatest fightersin the world) for 25 minutes. So IMO he has proved that he can fight at that level for 25 minutes. Forrest hasnt!.
I dont think Forrest is even close to being on Rampage’s level. The UFC version of Rampage is one bad dude. His conditioning is top notch. Juanito by his side, means Rampage will be focused and ready to go. I dont see any way for Forrest to win this fight. Not even by decision. Then again, I dont see Forrest’s chin holding up through 25 minutes of Rampage. If Forrest thinks Jardine hits hard, wait till he gets cracked by Quinton.
I actually see Rampage slamming forrest at some point of the fight.
NO WAY Rampage looses the belt to Forrest. I am a big fan of Forrest, but experience and skill level isnt even close in this one. Rampage by ref. Stoppage…no later then the 3rd round!
By the way, Takanori Gomi vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig March 5th at world Victory Road. Also Barnett vs. Yoshida
LOL this will be a great show and fight! I’ll pull for my TUF boy Forrest but I think Rampage takes it by KO no later than round 2 unless Forrest submits Rampage….AHAHAHA

if randy is such a god at coaching, how come his boy Mike Pyle got smoked at the last EliteXC show he did.

I agree, I see him getting knocked out the same as Chuck did and the same way jardine knocked him out. Forrest is tough but Rampage has a right hook from hell!
The coach can only coach. The fighter is the one who fights. It doesnt matter what Randy is telling him to do he has to be able to do it. Both guys are fun to watch but I have to go with Rampage on his one. Cant wait to see it.
I think it is funny that Rampage’s motivation in a fight is that he hates to train. I didn’t like rampage very much at first but the more I see of him and his sense of humor I think he is slowly becoming an icon in the UFC just like Chuck or like Randy was.
We must remember, while Randy Couture is Forrest Griffins trainer, its not like Randy will be fighting for him. He can train him as hard as he wants to, but it comes down to whether or not Forrest has the tools to beat Rampage.
I wouldn’t want my first 5 round fight to be against Rampage.
I think he is the only person to ever go 5 full rounds with Hendo.

couldn’t agree more. rampage is better, its that simple. people are saying rampage has no cardio,WHAT!! h just went five rounds with henderson.(and looked good doing it). rampage is stronger and to be honest i don’t think forrest has any power in his hands. the muffins he throws will NOT knock out a granite chin like rampages. no way forrest wins. NO WAY

I agree that Forrest hasnt shown any kind of KO power. Prime Example: Look at his fights against Bonner. Bonner is a tough dude, but Forrest must have landed 100 clean shots on him and Bonner never slowed down. If Rampage would have T-off on Bonner the way Forrest did, Bonner would have gotten decapitated.
Bass you are completly right, as much as I like Forrest he throws “muffins” as punches…..Those will feel like love taps on Rampage’s world class Jaw. Let me remi8nd everyone that Rampage doesnt get affected by punches that often….He has only been KO-ed by Knees.
Rampage is itching to slam someone in the UFC. All the UFC-only fans have heard about his slams and have seen highlites of his slams, but I think Rampage really wants to show the fans…how to slam someone through the Octgon floor. Big Dumb Ol’ Forrest looks like a great candidate to be body slammed!
This will be a pretty easy fight for Rampage.
I just love how everyone is already counting out Forrest just like they did when he fought Shogun and he ended up submitting the man that many concidered the top lhw in the entire world! Granted Shogun was hurt but so was Forrest so I tend not to equate that in. I am not saying that Forrest is going to walk through Rampage just that you can count out heart and determintion. Until I see Rampage beating the crap out of Forrest I will not count him out at any point!

I think he would have had an easier time to slamming Hendo, since he’s a smaller, lighter guy. I would be really impressed to see Rampage slam Forrest who is known for cutting a lot of weight.
Anybody,
I was just reading about this new show coming out on BET next month called “Iron Ring Fighting”. It is a MMA reality show that will feature 6 teams. Each team will have a trainer and a coach. The coaches inlcude Floy Mayweather Jr, Nelly, Ludacris and other rappers. Two of the trainers really stick out - Shonie Carter and Charles KrazyHorse Bennett. If Crazy Horse is going to be on television with Floyd Mayweather and Shonie Carter, I will definitly be watching. Or at least trying to.
Mania,
This show is supposed to debut on BET next month some time and they are taping the finals this weekend. Do you have an info on this show? Above is pretty much everything I know.

you don’t know who Mike Pyle is? he is one of Cotours main guys that he spends more time with than griffin. Griffin only trains with cotour part time, not full time like pyle does. Case in point, Randy always corners Pyle.
there is an MMA world outside the UFC, you should really look into this thing called “MMA”. the coach does NOT make the fighter. Griffin is in that cage, not randy.

I disagree. i could tell Rampage was looking for it during the Hendo fight. He even admitted to trying to slam Hendo after the fight. Hendo defended it real well. U will see…Forrest is gonna get SLAMED!

Somebody is gonna get shot.
I don’t see Rampage slamming Forrest. Think he might save that for someone a bit smaller, maybe Machida. I feel Machida would win comprehensively though.
Rampage is gonna kill Forrest.
A thread somewhere on this site about a year ago, I said Griffen would be fighting for the title sometime in 2008. Everyone laughed at me then, and all I have to say is NOW WHAT?!? Most of you still underrate him as a fighter, but dont be surprised when his hand is raised in the end, cause c-war told ya so.
im suprised at all the people who are saying that forrest has no chance against page. then again you were probably the same ones who said this before he fought shogun. i dont want to hear about shoguns injury or lack of training. forrest was injured too and shogun should have known better than to undertrain. i agree that this page is better than the old page and think this fight will be a knockdown dragout fight. i think its 50/50 all the way, but if i had to bet id go w/ page by split dec.
this is stupid both fighter are up there cause of luck non of this fighter will hold the title for long
did you see forrest flop on the floor when he got ko’d and then cried like a girl? hahahaa lol! boo hoo lol! i bet forrest will be going to the hospital straight after this fight
Go Belfort!
Fak….Forrest hasn’t beat Chuck or Hendo. Back to back even. Rampage is the Champ for a reason. It’s cause he defeated 2 Champs back to back..Althouh Forrest beat Shogun, the guy who beat Page, he still doesn’t have the 5 round power that Page has. Even if Forrest is trained by Couture, that doesn’t mean that he’s Couture…Rampage by KO in the First OR By decision…If page don’t KO him in the first, it will go all the way.
I see Rampage KO’ing the HECK out of Forrest. Both of these guys are cool though.
forrest-decision
If Jackson acts like as much of an ass as he usually does, I don’t think I can stand to watch this season of TUF. I kope Forrest KO’s him, but I think IF Forrest wins, it will have to be by decision.
Shogun will kill Forrest.

i like both fighters, but i would have to agree with both of you guys.the only chance Forrest has is his heart.not questioning Jackson heart but ole Forrest can take a beating and is a definite gamer. still believe Jackson is gonna tko to a win
I forget how huge Forrest is for 205…he’s gotta have 3-4 inches on Rampage…
i think forrest walks around at 240ish pounds. he is a very good sized LW.
the problem with that is…Rampage’s head probably weighs close to 240 pounds….man, that thing is huge.
I don’t know who to root for on this one. I’m torn, two of my favorite fighters. I’ll just have to root for whoever is funniest on the show.

Try 230.
Niether of them are close to 240.
Both are huge LHW’s
Conditioning will not be a question. Rampage didn’t tire against henderson. And forrest will be better than he ever has fitness-wise. I honestly can’t imagine forrest getting the better of Rampage’s striking; Rampage’s clearly better and more technical. Forrest’s only chance of winning is by submission. I won’t pick a winner, i’ll just watch and enjoy a potential war
almost all the message here are all regarding counting out Griffin against rampage in this fight
“Remember its kinda same situation before that griffin will fighting shogun & all poeple counting him out against shogun”
well lets see & you’ll gonna be shocked at the result of this fight!

There is always a way, I didnt think Forrest would beat Shogun either, he was injured but Forrest still lookeds good. I think Rampage will win, but I wouldnt count Griffin out. I will never under estimate him again. everone said there was no way Serra would beat GSP either!!!

Rampage is one of the P4P best fighters in the world. He should be praised just as Much as Anderson Silva. With Juanito by his side, SLAMPAGE might even break the UFC Light heavyweight title defenses record. Remember, Rampage really paid his dues as a fighter over in Pride, k-1 and WFA before having all this success as a UFC fighter. He really deserves to be champion, and I think he loves it. Because of that he wont slack off, he will bring it in every fight and he will be champion for a long time. Get USED TO IT!
I WILL GO AHEAD AND SAY IT,”RAMPAGE KOULD BEAT RANDY RIGHT NOW”!!! CASE AND POINT>>>RANDY HAS A WEAK ASS KHIN AND HAS ZERO POWER N HIS HANDS>>>RAMPAGE IS A MUCH MORE ACURATE AND POWERFUL STRIKER THAN RANDY!!! ***THE ONLY REASON WHY RANDY BEAT T.SYLVIA WAS BECAUSE HE(TIM)HAS 2 LEFT FEET W/ KEMENT SOLES… BROCK L. WOULD DESTROY/STEAMROLL RANDY AND TIM!!!
As for Forrest. He didnt exactly have a dominating performance against Shogun. In the end he submitted shogun but the facts are he was injured and fatigued. He looked half dead mid way through the 1st round and that isnt SHOGUN at all. After all that, I still think Shogun won round 1 and Forrest struggled with him during the rest of the fight even though shogun was super gassed. In my HOnest oppinion, when I saw Shogun gassed like that, I thought Forrest would dominate him but he really didnt.
In the end he submitted him, so I have to give Forrest his respect. but if he had trouble with a half dead forrest fighting with no ACL and no cardio, then how the hell is he going to sand a chance against Rampage:
A superior striker
Stronger fighter with superior power
A much better wrestler
A much better chin
Who has had championship fight experience going the distance at a high pace against an animal like henderson.
Rampage is not going to come into this fight all injured with no cardio….so I see no way a fighter like Forrest who lacks KO power will stand a chance at defeating “the KING of 205 lb” Rampage Jackson. The Only Unified mixed martial arts Champion!
I can not wait for this season on Ultimate. Dana got one of the most popular (Griffen) and the soon to be most popular (RAMPAGE)fighters in the UFC. Many of the casual MMA fans who have not followed Rampage too closely outside the ring are gonna love watchin this guy every week. As for the fight. RAMPAGE. This guy is coming off two absolutely top notch wins against Lidell and the soon to be 185lb champ Hendo. It was not all that long ago that Griffen was losing to Ortiz (wtf) and Jardine. We may be watching the beginning of one of the greatest ever UFC champions. If Rampage stays hungry and trains right, I don’t see anyone beating him for quite a while, and thats considering that the 205lb class is completely stacked with world class fighters. Watch out for Machida though, I think right now that he is the fourth or fifth best fighter in this class, and he is rising fast.

I still don’t see it. Jardine cleaned his clock and I think Jardine’s crazy style would match up good against Rampage but this is a bad fight for forrest. All I can say is Run Forrest Run!

I agree with everything u said. Its going to be funny to see all the current Rampage haters that really dont know him, blog on this site every thurday after TUF the night before. They are all going to fall in love with Rampage and then the bandwagon will become flooded.
As for Machida, I think he is a great fighter but wont pose much of a threat to Rampage. Rampage has an amazing chin and Machida lacks power. Rampage has fought through much harder shots then anything Machida poses in his arsenal. Rampage will dictate where that fight takes place and if Machida wants to close the distance or try to pull guard he will just get Slammed. Ultimately I dont think Machida can with stand Quinton’s power.Rampage will clear out the division. He will hold the belt for a while.
this will be an interesting season, since for the first time there isn’t the “jerk” coach to cheer against. i like both of these guys, and i can’t wait to see Rampage’s antics.
