This was a well promoted fight. Brock fought a former champion meaning that a win could have catapulted him up the ranks and a loss was expected. On the other end, Mir wasn’t looking like himself before the Brock fight so this was a good test to see where Mir’s head was at. Now Dana has Mir looking good again and also being a possible number one contender and Brock showed massive potential against an elite figher.

In comparison lets go with the Tank and Kimbo. Now Kimbo is one of the most despised fighters by people who really have no reason to dislike him other than he is getting all of the lime light. But this isn’t the reason they don’t like him, its because he’s fought cans and doesn’t deserve the light yet.

Honestly IMO Dana doesn’t let his fighters cross promote because he wants one undisputed champ. He doesn’t want a boxing style rating system which is what Gary Shaw is working for. Dana used to box and I trust his judgement alot more than I do that of Shaw’s. Shaw can take his bullshit to some other sports league. If Kimbo was in the UFC he would have more credibility by now because he would be fed cans. I have a feeling Kimbo is a little pissed about this as well, otherwise he probably wouldn’t be calling the Iceman out.

I think its garbage that Brock had to fight a legend right off, but its true, Brock wants to fight the top fighters. He has very little experience but still held his own. I think he’s gonna be amazing in 85 (if it happens).

brock is a beast, it is only one loss, he has great potential, he will be good, look how he floored mir twice, once with a takedown, and another with a bomb, even though he should have won that match, but got caught, look for lesnar to improve….in the coming months.

Did this guy not watch all the pre-fight footage where Brock said he wanted a tough fight, I dont see how Dana ruined him at all, Brock was kicking franks ass, he made the mistake of trying to jump out of the knee bar, people say this is because lack of experience well there are people who have been fighting in the ufc for awhile who would have made the same mistake, personally I think Brock needs to find new trainers instead of getting back with his old wrestling coach, he already knows he’s a world class wrestler and that is something you dont loose, he should have worked more on striking and maybe some BJJ, but that was a perfect fight for Brock, not like he got beat down bad, Frank is the one that took the beating, brock made a rookie mistake, all i am saying is teach this guy to throw them hands like a boxer, teach him a few kicks and a lil BBJ and brock will be a major force in the UFC.

I actually agree with the latter part of your first sentence. It was undoubtedly a huge publicity stunt. That’s the draw with Lesnar… capitalizing on his huge name recognition from WWE. But that being said, Lesnar isn’t exactly an average meathead from the fake world of professaional wraslin.. Don’t forget that he was a NCAA heavyweight champion in wrestling, which no one else in the MMA world can boast that high a wrestling pedigree. Also, everyone admits that Lesnar is physically a freak. And lastly, I recall that Mir actually tried several arm bars and triangles that Brock simply powered out of. Even Mir admitted during his post fight interview that he had tried several unsuccessful arm bars. So, Lesnar didn’t fall for the first Mir attempt, rather fell for a combination of attempts..[/quote]

Yeah thats actually true. I dont have problem with Brock, I just get annoyoed by all of the fans jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon. It was the same thing with Housten Alexander, he wins two fights and hes the best thing in the world, and then he loses one and sudenly he dosnt deserve to be in the UFC. Why dont they let these guys flourish into wellrounded fighters with some experience. If you hype some new guy up to the level of god-like status the only place they will have left to go is down.

What i wrote was a quote from Chuck. He was saying all this before his fight leading up to the Rampage rematch.
