mirko cro cop filipovic

“I’m off to Tokyo! A big announcement will come straight from Japan tomorrow (February 13). When the official part is done I’ll be able to provide more information about everything, and believe me, I have many things to say. What you could easily guess by now is that I won’t be retiring. I’ll keep on fighting, it’s my life, it’s what I do.”

– Mirko Cro Cop affirms via his personal blog that he wants to continue to fight (something we already knew) and that he’s headed to the “Land of the Rising Sun” to make a major announcement tomorrow. Has he agreed to a new fight? Has he been released from the UFC because he costs too much? Will he fight for another promotion? Is he a mopping mat rat on Fedor’s new television reality series (sarcasm)? Only time will tell. Stay tuned.

Update: Dave Meltzer from WrestlingObserver.com is passing along news that Cro Cop could announce that he will fight for a new promotion created by the owners of K-1. We’ll be all over this when the official word comes in.

The idea of him being on that reality show sends shivers up my spine. yuck.

hopefully he’ll regroup and be a force at LHW again. I’d like to see him get his act together in the UFC.

I’am so dissapointed in Crocop for leaving to fight in Japan. I wont even wear his Tshirt anymore because everyone will say that he sucks and cant cut it with the best in the world and guess what its the truth. What a joke he has become for running away like that. Coutoure lost twice in a row and came back, Liddel lost twice in a row and came back, Crocop losses twice in a row and runs away.

Now actually i really don’t care what he does or where he goes, so Crocop goodnight and goodluck and go to hell.

I don’t get it. I am alittle confused by all this. I find it surprizing that the UFC would let him go like that. As they sure could still make money from him. I also find it hard that Crocop would leave the UFC with unfinished business.
Very Strange!! I guess we will find out everything in the next couple of days. I can’t stand the wait.Alittle Disappointing to see him leave, If indeed he is pulling out of the UFC. I hope not!

The fact that he is making his announcement in Japan telegraphs the likelihood that he is joining another organization (probably WVR). He wouldn’t travel to Japan to announce anything regarding the UFC - it doesn’t make any sense.

Crocop - “WHEN THE OFFICIAL PART IS DONE, I’ll be able to provide more information about everything”

He’s a quitter and a loser.

If he does leave then you know he’ll pass it off by saying “they didn’t want to honor the contract and that’s why I’m leaving” and while this may be true he should have worked something out saying “give me a one fight deal to show you and we will go from there.” BUT!!! He hasn’t left yet and hopefully he doesn’t. He’s still top 10 on any list of guys you don’t want to face. For someone to pass him off as a nobody then they must be showing up to the party late. Look at the way fighters in pride showed respect towards opponents, unlike UFC. In america its a bunch of booing with fans that dont know much about the SPORT. They treat it like a WWF match, and they dont show the appreciation like japanese fans are used to doing. Also, owners like dana running their mouths like a bunch of morons is getting so soap opera like…

I mean DANA talks alot of shit like he has been doing with FEDOR but i think he secretly wishes he can be a fighter like them! its like the jealous kid talking smack on the talented kid because he secretly wishes he was him…someone needs to throw dana in the ring so he can learn to appreciate his fighters a little more so having him get a beatdown from any of them would really shut him up.

I followed Cro Cop in K1 so you are wrong. He put forth little effort in his UFC fights. He didn’t train hard, and he didn’t fulfill his obligations to the fans in doing PR wirk. Dana’s big complaint was that he wouldn’t give anything back to the fans. Cro Cop made his name beating up Japanese pro rasslers in Pride, and yes I followed his entire career in Pride. He had a horrible run in the UFC and a disgraceful end. All his own fault.

I was thinking that myself. Maybe all this waiting Dana was talking about is a fight contract offered for an event to take place in Japan, and Dana was waiting for everything to be set up before he could announce it.

Everyone expects the worst, which would be for him to walk out of UFC and go fight in a shitty organization. IE, Fedoritis.

Everyone was quick to say Randy signed a contract so he needs to fulfil it

It is known that the UFC wanted to RENEGOTIATE Cro Cop’s contract and PAY HIM MUCH LESS THAN WHAT WAS AGREED TO AND SIGNED FOR?????? Dont get it, Randy cant do it, but the UFC can kick people out if they dont take huge pay cuts, even thought they under contract for a certain amount.

I wouldnt blame Cro Cop at all, if he leaves because the UFC was going to “sit him” until his contract ended if he DID NOT TAKE A HUGE PAY CUT

Dave@wrestlingobserver.com

Reports from Japan, as well as a web site post by Mirko Cro Cop both state Cro Cop will be in Japan tomorrow for a press conference put on by Fighting Entertainment Group (K-1), which will announce the debut of a new MMA promotion to take the place of its Hero’s division.

Cro Cop was the most popular foreign MMA fighter in Japan when he signed a six-fight deal at the end of 2006 with UFC. After going 1-2 in UFC, it was known UFC was considering cutting him from the deal due to the high cost of his contract.

His heading to the opening of the new group would make it likely that is how things turned out but we haven’t had that confirmed from the UFC side.

The evolution of MMA and coming into the octagon shows who’s who.

I want to see Fedor in the octagon.

His heading to the opening of the new group would make it likely that is how things turned out but we haven’t had that confirmed from the UFC side.[/quote]

where are these “reports” coming from, are they reliable?

i really hope the ufc honors cro cop’s contract…the giants are still paying barry zito the most lucrative deal for a pitcher in history even tho he sucked last year….they have to honor it…and i think crocop has a lot left in the tank and i think he can still right the ship and prove himself in the ufc, just hope he sticks with it….

What is this about the UFC not honoring a contract? Usually the promoter can terminate the contract. That isn’t unusual and is often best for both parties. If the UFC wanted to shaft Mirko they would have refused to let him out of the contract.

Did anyone say any of this when Liddell lost 2 in a row? Nope. Did Dana try to restructure Chucks contract and make him take a pay cut? nope. Cro Cop has beat a lot of great fighters and took Fedor the distance in a classic match. Other than Couture and Silva who has chuck beaten? Babalu. big deal. Randleman? big deal. Tito? Cro Cop has beaten Coleman, Randleman, Aleksander Emelianenko, Josh Barnett. Christ he broke Sakarabu and Bob Sapp’s orbital bones. C’mon guys, i know you like the UFC but try to get just a tad of education on MMA.

I also keep hearing that he will leave for this new K-1 promotion in Japan. At this point I dont care what the hell he does. However I would really like to see him fight Brandon Verra before he runs away!

Why would they refuse to let him out of his contract? they are currently playing him $250,000 (Brock Lesner Money) to get KTFO. Also Cro Cop hasnt done any promotoinal stuff for the UFC, he doesnt give interviews…I think Dana is fed up.

However, I wouldnt mind seeing Mirko Kick Dana’s head off as a going away present to the Fans.

The first even is going to be held in Saitama on March 15 and Mirko will appear on this card, while his opponent is yet to be announced.
More information will follow upon Mirko’s arrival to Zagreb tomorrow, so stay tuned on MMA-ID!

He is signing for M-1 to fight against Fedor. Was a great fight back in 2005, but now its a bit outdated, especially as he is on a losing streak and was never number 1 contender for his title in Pride and is especially not deserving of a shot at fedor until he defeats some real opponents. Having said that, Fedor himself hasnt really fought any big names so this could be a way of silencing his critics, although again Crocop hasnt performed well recently.

I think he meant guys who fought in Japan, not actually born in Japan. The three being Nogueira, Anderson and Jackson.
