– Former heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia, checks in on his forum after the submission loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 81: “Breaking Point” on February 2. “The Maine-iac” — who has been with the organization since 2002 — earned $100,000 for the spirited effort, as well as pocketed an extra $60,000 for the “Fight of the Night.” Lesnar earned $250,000 for his loss to Frank Mir and would have netted significantly more with a win.

Bye bye Tim, dry hump the M1 fence instead.
great news. gtfo.
I think Randy started an avalanche…whatever, the ufc has given Sylvia how many title shots??? Hes making plenty of money to live off of and fund his hunting expeditions, most people bought that ppv for lesnar so he deserves it, and if tim doesnt understand that, then i dont know who can explain that to him…….anyways, mmamania, i was watching old Pride show yesterday, and there was a commercial for Henderson vs Silva, and it also said Keith Jardine is fighting, I wasnt aware of this, is it real? If so do you know who?
Hope Dana wasn’t listening. Timmy should have talked to AA about not wanting to re-sign with the UFC.
See you next year Timmy.
Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord slit you, Timmah…
DOH!! Split, I meant split!!

What?!?!?!?!?!
Pride is done, and Henderson and Silva have fought in the past most recently a KO by Hendo. And Jardine has never had a fight in the PRIDE FC. Only UFC… Are you running a fever?
“my manager runs m1 so i have a pretty good in so we will see what happens in the next few months.”
Well, we know one thing that wont happen: you fighting Fedor. Or anyone else with a reasonable chance at beating Fedor. M1 is a joke at this point.

I’m pretty sure he means the upcoming March fight with Anderson Silva and Henderson. I haven’t heard anything about Jardine on that card.
I am not a fan of proffessional wrestling but i do know they have a loyal following. That is the reason Brock got such a big contract. Cause his name alone brought in many more buys on the PPV then Sylvia did. I know quite a few people that are wrestling fans got the fight just to see him. And getting them to watch it might turn them into future fans. As for Tim leaving , good riddens, I wish they would put him and Brock up against each other.i think brock would make him look like the punk he is. i know brock isnt a seasoned vet by any means but he did impress me against Mir. For only doing this for a year or two he looked good.Got caught making a rookie mistake. I would like too c silvias 2nd ever fight, i could be wrong but i doubt it would be very good.as for Jardine fighting at 82 it must have been a mistake..they already got 10 fight on the card.which is already more than i ever saw.
Maybe he’ll get the Arlovski treatment?
Sure, Sylvia has a bigger name in regard to MMA, but when it comes down to the population overall, most people have probably hear of Brock Lesnar versus Tim Sylvia. It’s the huge draw of new fans that Lesnar is bringing in that makes him the big bucks.
This is off topic but I think a match between Marcus Davis and Chris Lytle would be awesome. I still believe that Davis’s next fight should be someone in the top 10 or top 5, but a match against Lytle would be fireworks!
He’s just sour… because he lost to NOG he is not in a position to re-negotiate his contract for more money, so no more money for Tim in the UFC, I recon it might be a half bluff to see if he can get a few more pennies out of Dana White… yeh, good luck
Can you see the next announcement? Sylvia vs. Lesnar. Let’s see Timmy get pounded like Jenna before Tito. He won’t even know what hit him. Then we can watch him run off to M1 and get that “big money” for fighting a bunch of other over-hypes and wash-ups. So long Timmy, thanks for all the years of boring-ass fights and lame excuses, you will most certainly will not be missed!
Sweet balls, see ya later sloppy tim
Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord slit you, Timmah…
You had it right, don’t let the door hit him in his vagina on the way out.
u guys are haters
im not a tim fan but i would hate to see him go, the heavyweight division is awfully bad right now, since randy left their is alot of talk now about fighter saleries.i mean i see where tims coming from like it or not he was a former champ and brock submits in 90-seconds and makes $250.000 for tapping ,im mean i can see why the veteran is angry, but i really think he should have beat big nog i think that his title reighn is gonna be short.
Like 99% of the population I’ve never been a fan of Tim; but the UFC does need him. This time next year Fedor, Randy, AA, Big Tim, Josh Barnett, & Alexander E could all be fighting in a M1/Elite SC/HD Net Fights Co-op.
And if that works out, and it should the flood gate will open up for the rest of the weight classes. If you were a fighter what would you rather do, fight for 3 league alliance or be locked into one promotion? If the money is decent give me the freedom the former will offer any day of the week.
I really hate tim sylvia and don’t care if he goes or not, but I do see his point. Regardless of his drawing power, brock lesnar did only have one MMA fight against a tomato can. Tim sylvia is a two time heavyweight champ and has fought some serious competition (albeit in a boring fashion at times).
$250,000 per fight (and probably double that to win) is a lot to pay for a guy who talks in the 3rd person and has a 1-1 record at this point.
Sweet - one more reason NOT to watch any M1 fights.
Not to mention, I hope Tim’s next fight is WITH Brock because I bet you anything Brock pounds his face in because Tim is not anywhere close to Mir on his back and that’s exactly where Brock will put him.
You know big Timmy could hardly contain himself when he was saying that his manager runs M1. He thinks he’s holding a fist full of aces while Dana’s about to low-ball him under what he’s paid now. If only to be a fly on that wall.
Am I the only one here that wishes millionaires like Tim Sylvia would learn a little grammar, spelling, and punctuation? This forum post would drive my high school English teacher completely nuts.
Let me fix you up here Timmy.

Geesh!
My man put one comma, and one period at the end of the whole joint. Here’s my ideas for his new nickname in M1:
Tim “Run-On-Sentence” Sylvia
Tim “Bigger THEN” Sylvia
Tim “The Great Lowercase i Am” Sylvia
Tim “Punctuation Can Kiss My Ass” Sylvia
Tim needs to install a filter between his brain and his mouth.
I am shocked that so many of you act like this is no big deal. As boring as Tim has been in the past 2 years, he is still an Elite Heavyweight and if you guys haven’t noticed, Top Notch Heavyweights are scarce in the UFC. For once, Sylvia did exactly what he said would do in the fight against Nogueira. He fought like his old self, trying to KO big Nog instead of trying not to loose. Although he lost, he has got to get some of the credit for making that fight as exciting as it was. Whether we like it or not, he is a 2 time UFC Champion that is hard to defeat.
This should serve as a big wake up call to Dana. How many top fighters does the UFC have to loose before Dana changes his ways and stops giving these fighters reasons to look for “greener pastures”? This wouldnt be that big of a deal, if the UFC didnt already loose Randy and if Arlovski wasnt 2 months away from leaving the UFC. This has to stop now! If Dana wants to play hardball and let all these fighters leave then I hope the Fertita brothers replace Dana with someone who wont let this happen anymore!
Bye bye Tim, dry hump the M1 fence instead.
perfect
The sooner I don’t have to watch him “lean-and-pray” his way to victory the better. The sad thing is he had a long haul as champ and Brock Lesnar is more popular than Tim just one fight in, and it was a loss.
the man is right, bottom line
Speaking of Heavyweights..I wish the UFC would sign Sergei Kharitonov…He is an animal who belongs in the UFC cage.
Ha……”How u Doin?”
-Norbit(Rasputia) …lol
“I have a better name than him Brock” - Tim Sylvia
Does he mean a bigger name than Brock? If so, I’d actually argue that one. When Tim Sylvia is the main event of a PPV, the casual fans do not order it, only the hardcore fans that order every PPV. However, when Brock is on a PPV, of course the hardcore fans will order, but so will many other casual fans, including fans of the wwe. So Tim does not have a bigger name than Brock Lesnar.
“and I am a better fighter than him (Brock)” - Tim Sylvia
Really can’t argue that one, but I would LOVE to see that fight go down. Especially since Brock was the one to coin the term “webbed feet” when talking about Timmay. I don’t think that Brock would stay standing with Tim for more than 3 seconds, he put Tim right on his back. Tim does not have a Mir-like guard. So a GnP win for Brock would not be out of the question. If fact, if Brock was a plus 200 underdog, I’d put money on him.
This might sound sort of WWE-ish, but the UFC and the HW division need Tim as a sort of bad guy, or heel in the professional wrestling vernacular. I can’t remember anyone on this forum ever writing ‘hey, I need to order this PPV because Big Tim is on it,’ but everyone tunes in hoping to see him take a beating. Tito does the same thing in the LHW division, although almost nobody considers him a title contender. You also have Karo, and to a lesser extent Burkman in the WW division and Sherk in the LW division to generate the animus necessary for a compelling fight. Yes, Tim has had his share of boring fights, but he has also been in plenty of exciting fights. Dana needs to pony up and keep him.

It has been “rumored” that Davis will be fighing a Top FIVE WW in his next fight! GSP and Serra are booked to fight. Fitch is fighting Wilson, Karo is fighting Alvez. Could Marcus Davis possibly be fighting Matt Hughes? I couldn’t imagine Hughes wanting to take that fight though. Who could this mysterious Top 5 opponent be.

Hell yeah, i would bet Brock in a second. At this point in time Sylvia is a far better MMA fighter then Brock…FACT! However, Brock is a nightmare match up for Sylvia, he would take him down instantly and Tim would never get backl to his feet again.
All Tim would be able to do is throw his awkward legs up for those weak trianglechoke attempts, and he woiuld not be able to catch Brock in a submission. tim has 1 fight left on his contract and if Dana oesntplan on paying the money Tim is asking for and it becomes clear that Tim will leave the UFC, look for Dana together a match up between Brock vs. Tim as Tim’s farewell fight. Its a real bad match up for Tim and Brock could make a name in mma off of beating Tim early in his mma career.

Well, even though I am a Hughes fan, I would be rooting for Davis. I’ve been a big Marcus Davis fan since his first fight in the UFC. It would be a dangerous fight for Hughes. I think Hughes should jump up to middleweight and have 1 fight against Kampman or another top contender and then fight for the belt, win or lose he should then retire.
I hope he leaves UFC, he’s the most boring fighter to ever held a belt!

I would LOVE to see Tim fight Brock Lesnar. that would be a first round knockout
tim silvia vs brock lesnar..
“i hope”
If Tim Sylvia fought Brock Lesnar, Tim will win.
Anyways, he has a right to feel the way he does. If he feels that the money isnt right in UFC he is free to go after his contract os over. Thing is if he goes to M-1 he will most definitely be matched up with Fedor. I personally would like to see him fight Brock and Fedor.
Dana…..should have Lesnar vs sylvia $5000 for showing up and and extra $150000 to winner…….lol………Maybe we would see the fight of the century…lol
Tim won’t get anyone with as high a profile as Brock Lesnar. He’ll get someone with a decent chance of beating him, but whom we’ve never really heard of. That way whether he wins or Tim win, the UFC is the ultimate winner.
If Tim win, then he beats an unknown. If he loses, then he’s on the decline.
This is the same approach that the UFC has taken with other fighters too (e.g., Arlovski).
If tim truely thinks hes better than brock let them fight. Set that fight up for tims last fight. When his big goofy hold them up ass loses, send him to M1 and watch him eek out a victory over fedor by holding him up against the fence. TIM SYLVIA GO CRY TO YOUR MOMMA CAUSE THE FANS DONT WANNA SEE YOU FIGHT EVER EVER AGAIN!
i can’t blame tim for complaining he has been with the ufc for years and has been champ of course brock brings in alot of people but that does not mean it still doesn’t piss people off.i have never been a tim fan but he almost knocked out nog and if he did would have moved up in the rankings and still did in my mind with a good performance.brock has proven nothing he is no different than hung man choi who you all labeled a freak yes lesnar has wrestling creds and choi has kickboxing creds the difference is lesnat lasted 90 seconds with a so so fighter and choi lasted longer with fedor.all you people that talk shit on anything not ufc look at what the h.w. devison is looking like you have randy fedor barnett aa and maybe tim now not in the ufc so how can they be the best when probally all top h.w.’s are not in the ufc other than nog and i dout he will stay after his contract is up if all the best are not there.
I thought we’d see Brock vs. Tim at the end of ‘09 but with Tim doing all this talking could it go down this June in London?
I would like to know where Timmy can go make more money then he does now. Stupid ass is just crying because he lost. Send him on his way and resign AA.
tim sylvia reminds me alot of larry holmes back in the 80s. not very well liked, did just enough to win, very boring, very abrasive personality, everyone rooted for him to lose. then after he retired (semi) everyone talked about how underrated he was. the flip side to this is that no one misses larry holmes, nobody is saying in boxing “we need another larry holmes to save boxing” they say we need another tyson, ali, or louis. this is what will probably happen to tim when he is done, alot will say he was underrated but none will miss him. so long, goodluck, dont come back. if he leaves the ufc oh well. they ned to start infusing some young guys now. does anyone know much about shane carwin?
Ok bigger picture here,Randy couture,Andrei Arlovski,Tito Ortiz, and possibly Slyvia and Chris Leben………..The UFC is fighting a losing battle to keep its fighters cause it cant{wont} deliver the big fights or the money that the fighters feel they deserve, and in some cases they are right. Why regardless of hype does Cro cop earn more per fight then Slyvia and Couture on his basic fight contract? I mean Randy was practically a founder of the sport,in the sense that he was one of its first big names. He should be getting the same money as Liddell regardless for time and service to the company. As for AA and Slyvia also to long serving fighters they have been denied the money and in AA’s case the fight they were promised{ but in slyvia’s case im just assuming he will denied after the UFC read this} the UFC is on a dangerous path, one that could end in all big fighters seeking better money and guaranteed big match ups.As for Tito, he is the perfect example as to was the UFC is doing wrong,he is the former champ{most defending champ},is still a massive draw, but is a stage were he wont deal with the president of the company and the owners or telling him he is not worth the money he wants which i thinh was just a little more than he was getting now??????I dont get were you get the balls to tell a big draw like Tito, that you not worth it even though he sales tickets and last i checked zuffa got into this business to make money, doesnt seem like good business to me if you have{are}practically letting some of your biggest names go and WANT to fight for the competition over something as small as money. The UFC is meant to be the big dog,the most powerful, well why wouldnt they pay there biggest draws what they want{or somewhere in between}so they could keep the gravy rolling for us with the grat shows they put on.But no these guys are to be made an example of,hense why Fedor and Gomi not signing{maybe} is just the beginning of the UFC’s downfall ……..hopefully not but the power may already be gone to there heads

We’ve seen Tim fight everyone in UFC and been bored every time, except when he gets a royal ass beating. Brock would kill him. And why would anyone worry about the other promotions outside of UFC. Watch them all, I do. The more the merrier.
Tim needs to be paid! Brock Lesnar is being paid waaaaay too much…and for what? He is a stellar 1-1 now and looked like a chump in his first fight. Like it or not, Tim has given his whole career to the UFC and does deserve to be paid at least something comparable to what a newbie like Broke ass Brock is.
That comment about going where the money is, just proves that him talking about pride in being the UFC champ was just Bulls**t.
Who cares about so called big names leaving, when we have great new fighters that want to knock people out and finish fights.
Just look at UFC80!! BJ was the only big name but it was a brilliant event, with loads of good finishes.
When it comes down to it…its quite similar to how WCW started its decline. You pull in some guy (Bret Hart) and you pay him considerably more than your dedicated fighters (Hulk Hogan). It’s all about perception. Pretty soon everyone will get their panties in a bunch…
tim vs brock: brock wins by tko 2:00 1st round :-)
Tim would probably KO Brock. Brock has never been hit by someone with his power and we have no idea if he could take it. Anyway the UFC Hwgt division is getting weaker by the second. AA will be gone, Tim, Randy, no Barnett, no Fedor. Heck if M1 could get them, plus A. Emelinko and Sergei Kharitonov they would have the premier heavyweight division in MMA.
I dislike Timmy but he actually fought the last fight, he was just beaten by a superior fighter.
The ongoing pay inequity is going to hurt the UFC in the long run. You can’t just bring in every hot name and pay them more than you pay your longtime stars. It’s disrespectful to say the least.

I totally agree with that, but from a business perspective it is the big names that make the money. And Dana’s ego is starting to hurt them big time. Having Tito, Randy, Fedor, AA, etc. wont guarantee great fights for M1/HD Net/Elite XC, but it will bring attention to them. Which is what they need more. I’ve already seen a few good fights in Elite XC, but if no one is watching then I won’t be seeing them in the future. So if they can get one of those guys to headline each of their shows then fill the undercard with good fights the next thing you know the UFC has real competition.

What?!?!?!?!?!
Pride is done, and Henderson and Silva have fought in the past most recently a KO by Hendo. And Jardine has never had a fight in the PRIDE FC. Only UFC… Are you running a fever?

No hes is right i was watching that show also and it did say on the ufc 82 promo that keith jardine was fighting lol its must have been a crew up but it did say that.
Hey Tim the UFC has stood behind you threw alot of shit- boring ass fights,You are not marketable name at all,You got caught taking roids, etc The bootm line is you are a boring ass fighter who has been in some horrible main events. Your boring fights don’t sell shit. You fight not to loose and never go all out. Go to M1 and be forgotten about then Big TIM !!!!!!
I also bet this has nothing to do with your manager monty cox at all right Tim ?? Come on Tim its kind of funny you wait until there is one fight left on your contract to pull this shit. I could see if you beat NOg maybe then you would have some ground to stand on. This is all Monty Cox doing,Bottom line !!!!
When Tim beat Arlovski the first time I was the only person in a house with about 20 people in it pulling for Tim. He has since become less popular.
I don’t really care too much if he stays or goes. He should definitely not get a pay raise. He is a bad draw because nobody wants to watch him fight. Fighters get paid by their worth to the fans and Tim has little worth.
Sorry Tim, see ya.
By the way john. Do you keep spelling lose and loser wrong on purpose? Just curious.
People will crush and slander the UFC forever for being cheap and having tight wallets if they don’t do everything they can to keep Tim Sylvia

every time i see monty cox talk i see a big, fat, white Don King. yeah he smiles to your face with that sh!t-eating grin, but when you turn around he has a knife ready.
go away
I think the web site name change came a little early….UFCMANIAcs
if he leaves, then arloski might get a better deal or contract extension, cos the division will be weakened more, but ill be happy wit arloski staying!!!!!!
tough at the top.. i agree with these posts saying the ufc has stood by him for a while now, (where would he be if ufc hadn’t given him a chance in the first place). If he wasn’t happy with the contract money and thought he could get more elswhere why sign it. I respect he has good stand up but won’t shed a tear as he walks out the door.
