gabriel,you definitely don’t know shit about the mma.fedor has destroyed nog,and tim sylvia in the 36 seconds.both have been ufc hw champs.fedor can and will destroy any hw in the ufc.i’ve been watching the ufc since it’s conception.they bought pride because the ufc was inferior to pride.hell,dan henderson fought rampage for the ufc belt and they were both ex-pride fighters.so,take your foot and dana white’s dick out of your mouth.you half-ass half-witted mma fans make me laugh.you have no idea what’s going.dana white books fights nobody wants to see.anyone of the top 4 affliction:banned fights would’ve been single main events in the ufc.dana white’s ego has gotten so big that he’s going to ruin mma just like don king did boxing.but,atleast don king booked fights that people wanted to see.

this statement or his last 5 opponent’s”… these people are UFC fans, not MMA fans. Fedor will roll through ANYBODY in the UFC. I haven’t seen a fighter in the world yet who can beat him. Dana pisses me off sometimes.

I think Dana White is an asshole. He’s acting like an immature little child by making those rude and ignorant comments. BTW Fedor has already stated that he doesn’t consider himself the number one pound for pound fighter right now, so I think people should stop harassing him. Why are so much people talking shit about Fedor? He’s been insulted by many an asshole like Dana White but he’s still handling himself in a professional manner. In my opinion he seems like a nice guy. Maybe he’s not the top fighter as of right now… but to say he suckss!? he’s beaten a who’s who of mma studs. His record speaks for itself, not to mention his only loss was very contreversial. He hasn’t fought top guys lately but Randy hasn’t either. hmmm… gonzaga is barely making that top ten list, and sylvia got choked out by big nog(fedor beat him twice) to be honest i don’t think couture even deserves that fight against Fedor. Just look at their records. 23-1 vs. 16-8. Fedor’s loss isn’t even legit while Randy’s losing to mediocre/unknown fighters. There’s just no comparison between the two. With the exception of wrestling, Fedor is superiour in all aspects. And staying active and actually fighting, even if they are nobodys. Randy won’t even fight legit contenders like Big Nog cuz he’s too afraid to risk a loss.

Fedor left because Dana offered only money, but not FLEXIBILITY. Think about it, Fedor every year fights at that Sambo competition. Not because he needs too but because he wants to. He enjoys Sambo, that’s like his hobby. Dana basically said ‘fuck that, how about more money instead?’. This is a testament to Fedor’s character. Most fighters would jump on that opportunity and sell themselves out. Fedor was true to himself. He wasn’t going to be Dana’s bitch, like so many other fighters in the UFC. Yeah, Fedor hasn’t fought ranked fighters for a couple years. Could that be these ranked fighters are in the UFC sucking Dana’s dick. Plus, the UFC isn’t the best organization of all time. Pride was, it’s just that Pride went down because of managements ties to the mafia and UFC was sitting right there. Waiting in the shadow. And think about it, the HW and LHW and MW champions are basically Pride fighters. They spent majority of their time in pride. Shogun and Wanderlie didn’t do well so far because their fighting style is knocking the guy down and stomping and kicking his head off until the ref ends the fight. You can’t do that in the UFC. They need a whole new game plan and it WILL TAKE TIME and they’ll adjust cause they have the talent. Maybe not Wanderlie since he’s near the end of his career. Think about it, he has like 30-40 fights already and he fought heavyweights a few times in the last few years. He basically wore himself out and he’s paying the consequences right now. “Don’t bite off more than you can chew” is what Wanderlie needs to understand now. Rest and dont be a superhero. One last thing, how come people that lose on the Ultimate fighter end up being in the UFC shows in the near future. Seems fucked up. Since winners and losers end up fighting in the UFC. And a lot of them are Americans. Last time I heard, MMA is a global sport. Oh well, Dana’s running the show, I guess it all boils down to dollars and cents and not fucking up his ego.

I am very surprised at the amount of replies this topic got.

this is as much Fedor’s fault as it is Dana’s. Fedors main gripe was over being able to fight in Russia still in Sambo tournaments and the occassional Japan appearance as well. was that worth him turning down the UFC contract? Probably not but to him (he is a fanatic Russian patriot who loves his country and loves the sport of sambo more so even than MMA) it wasn’t acceptable to deny him the right to fight in Russian sambo events.

Dana throwing boatloads of money at him was wrong because that disrespects everyone on his roster who has shown him the loyalty that it took to make UFC a top name in MMA.

This fight will be similar to the Trinidad vs Roy Jones fight it will happen eventually but by the time it does neither fighter will be near their peeks anymore in terms of skill.

This fight would be a high risk for the UFC. They know Fedor’s abilities, and they might not risk the possibility of another organization gaining profile IF Fedor does beat Randy. It’s understanding for the business side of the sport to be this way, and this is the side that pays/makes the bills.

What sucks is that these two great fighters take pride in what they are doing, and they want to fight against the best. I don’t see it happening until Randy forfills his contract. Hopefully it’s not to late(age) for both fighters.

I feel M-1 has 100% confidence in Fedor, and UFC has mixed feelings. But as already said, UFC is business before pride.

Randy won the UFC title from Maurice Smith and was stripped because he couldn’t come to terms with the UFC for a contract. SOUND FAMILIAR?
He came back and was granted an immediate title shot against Kevin Randleman and won the title. While fighing for RINGS as UFC champion he lost to Valentijn Overeem by getting choked out. He came back to UFC and defended the belt twice against Pedro Rizzo in the same year before getting beaten by Josh Barnett for the title. Barnett was stripped and Couture immediately got ANOTHER title shot given to him, this time against Ricco Rodriguez, LOSING AGAIN. Then he drops in weight to IMMEDIATELY GET YET ANOTHER TITLE SHOT, against Chuck Liddell where he wins the interim light heavyweight title. Fights Tito Ortiz to unify the light heavyweight title. Loses title in controvercial ref stoppage to Vitor Belfort, but gets an immediate rematch and wins the belt back. Then loses title to Chuck Liddel in rematch. Beats MIKE VAN ARSDALE by submission (one of only 2 submission victories in his career, and the only non title match he fought in the UFC since 2000) Lost again to Chuck Liddel in their 3rd fight (where he got yet ANOTHER title shot given to him, although he had only beaten VanArsdale, a sure top contender) Randy then RETIRES. Only to move back up to heavyweight to get ANOTHER IMMEDIATE TITLE SHOT against Tim Sylvia. Then Defeats Gabriel Gonzaga and promptly WALKS AWAY WITH THE TITLE AGAIN.
The guy has been given title shot after undeserved title shot again and again. Twice he has walked away with the belt while champion because he was unhappy with the contract HE SIGNED. The guy has only fought 1 non title fight in 8 years, and he acts like the UFC hasn’t given him preferential treatment? I am sick of people defending Randy Couture as the greatest of all time when it’s obvious he is not. Sure, he has fought some great fights and top fighters, and there is no doubt he is a legend, but he has been treated like no other fighter in UFC history and I for one can’t wait for this mess to be over so I don’t have to hear any more about Randy Couture.

Ill give you credit for the indepth knowledge of your post, there was a couple of things you metioned I was not even aware of. The UFC wether pre-zuffa ownership or not gave Randy those title shots because they thought he desereved them otherwise they would have never been given to him.
When Randy was given his oppurtunities he capitalized most times. He almost always was able to step up and win even as the underdog.

You can never fault the fighter for taking any opportunities they are given, but in my opinion, no fighter in the history of MMA has been given the kind of repeated shots that Randy Couture has. I frankly was shocked that he even had to fight VanArsdale before getting yet another shot at Chuck. He lost his last 2 fights at heavyweight and was granted a title shot against Sylvia anyways. He didn’t have to even win a number 1 contender fight. Dana just handed it to him, and he defended the belt once and walked away. Why not give Arlovski a shot? Why not give anyone else a shot? He sure was given a lot of title fights when other fighters had just as much right to them, why not at least defend the belt until his contract was up. (a contract he signed). I am tired of hearing all of these guys bitch about what other people are making. Worry about yourself and if you don’t like it, don’t sign the contract. I’m sorry, but Chuck Liddel and Tito Ortiz and hell, even Brock Lesnar are bigger draws than Randy Couture. He almost got a million dollars of PPV revenue for one of his fights (not even counting his actual fight earnings) and he’s complaining because Chuck gets a little more? SELL MORE PPV’s!

Hey its now well known that the reason randy was given a title shot against tim even though he lost two in a row at that wieght class like you said and was coming off his 2cnd loss to lidell, was because the ufc didnt want randy to take bodogs offer of a garunteed 3 mill to fight fedor. Randy didnt make that up and has no reason to lie about that or anything else

You have got to be kidding….. Couture was and still would be the biggest draw for any ufc event. Chuck and randy are the biggest draws the ufc has ever had thus far. The only reason there are so many pissed off fans at randy is because they are going thru couture withdrawal, not only do all fans want to see him fight they need him to fight. Just watch previous ppv’s the fans chant his name befor, during and after the fights he always blows the roof off the place. Watch the randy/tim fight again that is the loudest I have ever heard a crowd at a ufc event he is loved respected and admired by practically everyone

About fedor, Ive broken down the sylvia nog fight several times now and all I can think of when I watch is Nog is a beaten down man been in to many battles to many beatings he looked slow and lathargic and his take downs attempts were telegraphed and unexplosive He obviosly is a legend and was able to pull off the win barely but if Fedor was in the octogon with tim he would have rocked him standing or secured the take down and finished tim is the first round. There is no one in the ufc that would even pose a threat to give him his first real defeat. Randy will probably give him a good fight but he cant beat fedor either regardless of where the fight takes place. Fedor isnt ducking anyone he didnt sign with the ufc big deal he wanst about to be bullied and controlled, If you think hes ganna fight nobodys for the rest of his career youre crazy he wont allow that he will seek out the top fighters and fight them. There are more and more top heavywieghts outside of the ufc and the way things are going there will be even more. Im just excited to see him fight when and where ever that may be. just watch he will start fighting tougher and tougher competition as time goes on and everyone will see just how dominant he really is.[/quote]

I guess i’ll reiterate how i think Fedor is DEFINATELY one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA. I love seeing him fight and have enjoyed his fights greatly. I hope that he is able to fight more elite fighters because i like seeing great fighters fight. I almost hope that AA goes M1 and fights Fedor, as i think it would be a great matchup. (which i think AA has a reasonable chance to win). I am not hating on Fedor. I am not hating on Randy Couture as a fighter. I am not going through Randy Withdrawl. I just feel that most fans are blind to the fact that Randy has been given more chances than any other fighter and for him to hold the belt hostage is wrong; in light of the fact that the UFC practically tattooed it around his waist. I would still not bet against him in virtually any fight. I think the world of his skills. But as a business man?; I think he is a fraud. And i think more people should know it.
