The official weigh-in for UFC 81: “Breaking Point” will take place this Friday (February 1) at 7 p.m. ET at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not surprisingly, the pre-fight festivities for the Super Bowl weekend pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place the following day (Saturday, February 2), will be beamed LIVE across the Internet via streaming video.
In fact, ESPN.com, NBCSports.com, Sympatico MSN, Yahoo!Sports.com and FoxSports.com will air the weigh-in for UFC 81 on their Web sites this Friday, according to UFC.com.
Pick your poison.
MMAmania.com will, of course, post the results during the weigh-in as it happens. Therefore, feel free to stop in and share your thoughts on the scale-tipping show or check us out if for some reason you can’t catch the live broadcast.
For those fortunate enough to be in Sin City this weekend remember that the UFC 81 weigh-in is free to attend and open to the general public. Doors open at 3 p.m. local time and close at 5 p.m. local time.
It’s a great opportunity to get some fighter autographs, snap some photos and get pumped for the big show.
UFC 81 features the interim heavyweight title fight between former division champion, Tim Sylvia, and former Pride FC champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. In recent weeks the marketing push has framed this bout as UFC vs. Pride FC, even though most of the hype has focused on the “other” heavyweight showdown on the card.
That’s none other than the Octagon debut of former professional wrestling superstar, Brock Lesnar, taking on another former UFC champion, Frank Mir.

good,
“just to leave a 1st comment haha”

Hmmmm,
Bad pic of brock, this photo really doesnt show his size advantage. Yes I realize that in this picture all Brock is thinking about is water and food, which probably put 20 lbs back on him but still looks small.
Yeah…he looks *tiny* o_O
This event has truely become an afterthought as far as this up coming weekend is concerned. All I keep thinking about is the SuperBowl… I’m about to FINALLY sign up on BetUs.com
MANIA,
I called BetUs.com and they offer 15% deposit bonus on $100. I said I saw a link on mmamania, and they asked if you were an affiliate site. Are you? Also, when I clicked the link up top for BetUS, it brought me to a page that has the 15% on the top, but if I scroll down, on the left side there is an ad saying free $50 when depositing $100. I am about to call them up again before I sign up to confirm this. Soooo… Are you an affiliate with BetUs? Or do you just advertise for them?
THanks,
VM

It must be nice being a New Yorker this weekend. Its a shame because I have lost interest in this years superbowl. I cant stomach the patriots and the Giants are a division rival, so this either way I loose! I will admit that this pay per view isn’t that appealing at all either.
Maybe, once they show all access and the countdown to UFC 81 show, I will get more pumped up about it, but as of now, I feel no excite towards the upcoming weekend and its weird! I should be getting hype right about now, but for some reason I am not.
One thing that has been bothering me is the lack of marketing the UFC has done on Noguerra. This guy is one of the best HeaVYWEIGHTS EVER. Although he has been in many wars, he is still in his PRIME. But all I keep hearing about is Brock. I think its a shame. It makes me want to see Brock be a UFC bust.
I just think Noguerra deserves more respect then he is getting. I sincerely hope he wins the title, because I feel that he is the best possibly Heavyweight champion that the UFC could have at this point.
Worst tattoo ever and i mean ever.
Haha, it does look like a dick

lol it does look kinda crappy now that you mention it.

Yeah, I was wondering if anyone makes fun of how phallic it is.
“Dick goes hear.—> (x)”
Probably not.

Yes, we are an affiliate. Click through our site and we’ll get a commission.
i can’t figure out why this card sucks and the one in march is just stacked, silva needs to be canned
I don’t care who you are, brock is a scary looking dude. frank mir would be wise to check his ego cause he’s in for a long night. I see brock taking mir down and holding him there for the majority of the bout–mir will try his submissions, but in the end brock is just two strong to get caught. My prediction: Brock via unanimous decision.
Brock is the man, but his tattoo is “gay porn.”

Your prediction sounds about right to me. Expect to see Both fighters gas early.

The reason for the lack of marketing is because it’s tough to market a guy who looked like TRASH in his debut (he got dropped by a guy who now has a losing record in the UFC); even though he’s looked good in his career up until that point. It’s pro sports man…I don’t care what you did in the past…what have you done for me lately?

True Story. Big Nog is being way under marketed. He was the first HH Pride Champ. Had some wars in the ring/cage. In 30 fights he has 18submissions..do the math.
He is the HH Anderson in respects their both Brazilian..little to no english..crazy skills.
All we hear is Brock..Brock..Brock. The guy is a scray looking dude..but he only has 1 MMA fight under his belt and is slated as the co-main event?? He should be one of the first two televised fights of the night..not main event statis.
I hope Nog does what he does. takes Timmy’s webfoot into a heelhook..and let Timmy feel like a man for not tapping.
Maybe even submission of the night.
If Brock has any real MMA talent (more than wrestling), he could turn into a force….that’s a big IF though!

I dont think he looked as bad as most people say he did in his debut against Hearing. Ok that head kick rocked him, and a better fighter would have capitalized but that was his 1st UFC fight, I expect to see a much better performance out of him, but I was impressed y him against Hearing. As a fighter, when you have the reputation of having a gtreat jaw, and fast recovery time, the refs will give you the benefit of the doubt when u get rocked in a fight, and let the fight go a little longer then most. Henderson, wanderlei all also have that reputation. Did anyone stop to think that maybe Hearing gasses cause he was getting tagged up for the whole 1st round?
Noguerra has to be one of the top 5 greatest Heavyweights to ever fight in MMA, his win against Slvia will solidify It.
As a betting man, I will not be laying any action on any of the fights. I might consider throwing a few bucks on Almeida but I would first have to see the odds. All the other fights are too Iffy, and are there are too many questions that are unanswered. Tim vs. Nog is close. No one knows what Brock will do and I just dont have any interest in Nate vs. Horn which I predict will be a snoozefest. Just an uneventfull night IMO.
I do want to see Almeida’s return. I am curious too see the Big Nog fight and I will admit to be a little curious about Brock’s debut (although I think he will dissapoint).
Potentially this card could feature 3 snoozefests… There are no fights that I can count on being entertaining. Take Sakara vs. Bisping…not exactly 2 top 10 fighters, but I can count on that fight being a bang. Same thing with Cummo vs. Fioravanti…thats gonna be a war. Those 2 fights I just mentioned are like the 1st 2 fights of the prelims at UFC 82, yet I can count on them being could scraps. Can anyone honestly say the same about Mir/Brock, Tim/Nog or Nate/Horn?
I have a question for all the readers….what do you think Brock’s base salary for his fight against Mir will be?
i dont think he will come cheap….maybe $225,000
I hope Brock makes enough money to have that peen tatoo removed.
Brock’s tattoo, it’s just a sword to me on his chest, but no some of you sees a nice hard d*ck!
I hope Brock makes enough money to have that peen tatoo removed.
I hear you…he had to be under the influence of something, when he decided to have that Tat done….one of the worst tats I have ever seen! As charles Barkley would say…Thats teerribl, jus terrible
Brock’s gonna surprise a lot of the doubters out there and win this one. tattoo does look kinda gay though………

Really John? I do not see this fight going 3 rounds. Actually, Frank Mir has only gone the distance in one of his pro fights, against Dan Christianson July ‘06. I see Mir tiring well before Brock. Mir by early submission or Lesnar by GnP. I do not see this fight ending any other way.

I will not be putting money on any of the fights this weekend, just the G-Men. BetUs.com only has the two HW fights listed, no other fights are there to be bet on. Waaaay too many unanswered questions about the fighters coming into these matchups.
Now that I got money on that site, why can’t GSP be fighting Matt Hughes again, or why can’t Anderson Silva be fighting anyone but Hendo (almost) next month…

I just have a feeling the fight will be a bust.

VM: If you win just leave the money in the account…thats what I did, and after like 4 events I had a nice amount of change and I could start taking more chances by betting more then I normally would on fights that were sure things in my eyes like BJ vs. Joe and GSP vs. Hughes. I rarely ever take any money out of that account and when the right fight comes around….I take my shots!
Also, If I didn’t leave that money in the account, I wouldnt had the ballz to throw my money on underdogs that I felt strongly about like Kongo over cro cop. If I didnt feel like I was playing with the houses money, I probably wouldnt have the stones to bet on Dogs like that.
30th
this is like rocky four the russian vs. rocky but the russian is gonna win
Been trying to get posted on here. I predict Lesnar will tap with the quickness from a armbar in the first round.
I think Brock will pic up Mir spin him around on his sholder
and body slam him so hard he knocks him out, then forgets hes in the ufc and jumps on top of him to get the 3 count all in the first 8 seconds of the fight. Nobody could beet him in the wwe and i dont think anyone will beet him here either
he should get at least 7 million or more for this fight
because look at what hes bring to the ufc all his wwe fans.
this will be the bigest fight in ufc history, because of him
i will pay to watch brock. because i know he will crack somebody in half. because thats what he does. glad to see hes back on the sean. mir shoudl get some insurance on his self. lol
