Frank Mir By First Round Arm Bar. Brock Lesner is over hyped. He has one mma fight against a garbage oponent. His wrestling is amazing but the days of being able to be a top mma fighter having only one discipline are long gone.
Brock has sure toned down his trash talking and his prideful approach, but im sure this is more his manager than anything, and I still hope Mir humbles him, Mir is my favorite heavyweight and I hope he can come back strong and be a real contendar again.
yeah, too bad both of these guys can’t win. there both very likeable.. there both saying the right things.. im looking forward to this one.. after this fight then maybe you can start judging these two, but lets wait and see what these guys can do..
I cant belive Mir is the underdog, lesner had one fight, One
and he sucks, he has an idea of what to do, but Mirs experience will out shine lesners stregnth
With only 1 minute of MMA experience, I don’t think Brock has any business being in the UFC.
I feel the same way. Unfortunately marketing is what Dana is looking for and, at least for a couple of fights, he can make Brock a marketable fighter until he is exposed. For Brock, he made the wrong move by signing with the UFC when looking at it in the long run. If he does indeed lose this fight people will discard him as a real fighter and his future in MMA will be extremely short. He should have taken his time and fought at least a few more fights outside the UFC.
I’m excited to see this fight, but I am more so interested in the fighter’s pay releases afterwards. Just wondering how much more $$ Lesnar is getting paid than other established fighters in the UFC.
I see either a arm lock..or heel hook to welcome Brock to UFC..I don’t see a Choke..his neck is not normal for chokes..listening to these to..I’m got me a little more siked up to peep UFC 81..80 was a sleeping with fights that had potentional..and delivered. 81 in a whole has less potentional..but I hope..I pray that it can surprise me. I will be watching on Saturday..I have s#%#%t esle to do. Then it’s SuperBowl time..Go GMEN!!!
My picks.
Big Nog via submission. Triangle/armlock a la Pride 16 Coleman.
Frank Mir via heel hook
Ricardo Almeida via some type of Choke.
Nate via decision..even Jeremy is who I want to see win.
With most wrestlers just getting into the MMA, it’s gonna be lay and pray through out, if Frank Murr is lucky he can pull out a submission but not really gonna happen.
Brock is that strong to stop a submission with only one hand, if the situation calls for it.
Marketing is the reason to throw Lesnar into the deep end of the pool. Wrestling fans will tune in to see if a pro wrestler can really fight and mma fans will tune in to see if Mir has lost his edge or if he can teach Lesnar a lesson.
Lesnar’s name might have been wasted(less money made) with lesser fights if he can’t fight well. I think he can fight and would have chewed up lesser fighters though. He’s been working out with an mma trainer for quite a while hasn’t he? I don’t think he’s going to let himself get into a real weak position that Mir can take advantage of. I speculate Mir isn’t at the level he used to be so I think Lesnar is going to take this one. Lesnar is a cement wall and Mir has lost his wrecking ball.
I would not mind being proven wrong though. Good luck to them both!
Haha,Brock probaly doesn’t even know that the UFC is real, he’ll be like: ooh ooooh god why’d you punch me, what’d you do that for? Mir is going to submit him no doubt.
First of all, both fighters are very athletic and have accomplished what they have set out to do. Frank Mir is a former heavyweight champion and Brock Lesnar has an impressive collegiate wrestling record, and he’s a ncaa champion. Frank Mir is coming back from motorcycle injuries, but i dont think he is good as he used to be. To be honest, his prime is over. Lesnar has a lot of pressure on his shoulders because he needs to prove his talk, but i have no doubt that he will at UFC 81.
My pick is Brock Lesnar by either referee stoppage or KO.
i wonder if brock is a good striker, i wonder if it hurts like hell when his oger ass hits someone, i bet if he mounts someone and gnp them it would be fuckin horrible
lesner needs to wake up…. and relize that this isnt no WWE
with the story lines and fake punches you will really bleed!
this is UFC and Mir’s is going to knock his ass out! or break something for real…
Anyone who thinks mir will win is crazy!! Lesnar’s got 18 yrs. wrestling experiance, an NCAA Heavyweight Title and only lost 5 times in 4 years in college and won 106!! Thats amazing!!!! All you cockshiners will be dissapointed when lesnar beats the living shit out of Frank Mir. I’ll tell ya who else would fuck up Mir, the pit bull Andrei Arlovski. That man is a beast!!!

true that… even though frank mir has all that experience, he’s going to need more coverage on brock. brock is huge. even though he lost weight, he’s still huge… coming out of wrestling at almost 285 lbs? the fight might be long if mir can’t get lesnar to tap out. mir will probably win this one. but if it was pride, or k1 heroes…brock will slam the crap out of him…
HOW THE FUCK DID BROCK LESNAR LOSEE!!!! NOOOOOOO, OMG man he got way toooooo confident in the gorund and p und stance just a little more punches he would’ve been DONE!! FUCK What is this bullshit
Brock got screwed even the announcer was shocked by the point deduction. Mir turned his head in desperation other wise Brock would have crushed Mirs skull with his XXX gloves what was the ref thinking?
The only reason brock lost was because the ref called a timeout. Its not brocks fault frank mir didnt know what to do when he was getting his face beat in and got himself punched in the back of the head.
I see I am hot the only one that thought Lesnar got ripped. I have been a UFC fan for the past 5 years and have never seen a ref stop a fight for a one-time shot in the back of the head. Then to top it off the ref made Lesnar tap out twice. Everyone including the ref saw Lesnar tap the first time.
I do not want to see the UFC become the WWE or have referees comparable to the NBA. Frank Mir was given a gift and Brock Lesnar was sportsmanlike in loosing. Frank Mir should be thankful for the second chance.
For what it is worth, the UFC set Brock Lesnar up to loose by pitting him against a former World Champion and the best in the heavyweight division in the art to submission.
I like both Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar, but have lost some respect for the UFC.
I’m with you on this one David. I think if the ref wasn’t there Brock could have killed Mir. If this is supposed to be a true fight it should at least be decided by the fighters competing.
Brock won that thing right off the back he didnt show any fear and ran in there and litterly beat the crap out of mir, and that is true it wasnt brocks fault that mir lowerd his head. I f it wasnt for that ref brock would have won.
I believe Brock belongs in the UFC but does need some more experience. Even with the bullshit break for the one hit in the back of the head (although must have been a hard hit), I’ve seen refs warn fighters 3-4 times before taking a point. I think if Brock had a little more experience he wouldn’t of gotten caught in the leg lock. Having said that watch him on his next fight. Experience has started.
haha listen to everybody smash on Mir because he won! as for the 2 punches in the back of the head Mir did exactly what we are tauught to do protect yourself and if you cant the fight gets stopped, i’ll give it to you that it should have just been a warning not a point taken away but that wouldn have mattered anyway. and brock had 2 or 3 chances to finish the fight but he is to inexperienced right now so he ended up getting caught making a mistake just cuz you wanted lesnar to win dont take anything away from the way Mir fought in a comeback win
ya it was an illegal 2 punches to the back of the head as mir was trying to protect himself lesnar threw one punch and a hammerfist that caught Mir strait in the back of the head. it was all around great technique by Mir to pull of the win, lesnar looked dominant but inexperienced as well

The only reason Brock hit Mir in the back of the head, was because Mir was flailing his head around like a baby getting his ass beat!
Brock will dominate. Mir looked like a beginner as he got took down by a double leg. I have never seen such a fast take down like Brock did. No room for a sprawl there.

I’m with you Charles.

Lesner is kinda stupid (Brock smash murr, Brock smash Murr good) he sounds like an infant, i think mir will win any way he wants!
yeah, too bad both of these guys can’t win. there both very likeable.. there both saying the right things.. im looking forward to this one.. after this fight then maybe you can start judging these two, but lets wait and see what these guys can do..
Brock got a look in his eye like he is gona kill mir

A Mir win would be so good for the sport, but I’m still unsure he’s back to where he used to be. I certainly hope so, though.
Did ESPN edit this so that Brock didn’t make any sense or is that the way Pro-wrestlers talk?

anyways, frank spoke very well.
i cant wait for this fight

One more thing–Brock picked his toughest challenge in a submission fighter. If he beats Mir, no one can touch him in this sport.
