Cardio machine Clay Guida (22-9) will return to action against Frenchman and UFC newcomer, Samy Schiavo (10-4), at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
MMAmania.com confirmed the match up with a source close to one of the fighters.
“The Carpenter” will look to erase the memories of a disappointing loss to Roger Huerta via submission (rear naked choke) his last time out at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Finale. It was a fight that he was winning up until a sudden shift in momentum at the start of the third round.
Huerta is now near the front of the line for a title shot and Guida will have to work his way back up the ladder, starting with the French Top Team fighter out of Avignon, France.
Schiavo is the winner of six straight and has not tasted defeat since 2005. He’s been a regular on the popular Cage Rage circuit throughout Europe for most of his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career. His recent run has earned him a four-fight contract in the big show against one of the most exciting fighters to watch in the promotion.
Talk about a tough debut.
UFC Fight Night 13 features a lightweight showdown between Boston-area natives Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon in the main event. Karo Parisyan will take on Thiago Alves, Stephan Bonnar is booked to fight Matt Hamill, and Frank Edgar is also lined up to participate on the loaded card.

This is an awesome card. Really looking forward to it.
Hope Guida can reel off a few victories.

Agree with both of ya! Wouldn’t enjoy Guida as a first fight in the UFC lol… but at least he as 3 potential fights to make up for it if he gets mowed over!
This card is pretty much worthy of being a PPV event IMO. great stuff.
Win or Loose! GO CLAY GUIDA!
i love how the fight night is almost full but nothing is even final on the ufc 83 they don’t have a main event nor a venue to host it in, why don’t they just add the fights to fight night and get rid of 83 or make that ufc 83 in colorado but then again the venue wouldn’t hold that many people
As far as I know UFC 83 is cancelled. Hopefully they just make in an Ultimate fight show somewhere in the states or canada. Guess that would make UFC in Montreal UFC 83.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE CLAY AND HUERTA REMATCH
Guida’s one of those guys that I would pay to see regardless of his record. He brings it every time! I don’t know his oppenent, but he’ll have his hands full in a “best case scenario!”

The lion, singular. And I agree. This is quite the test for Schiavo. Odds are, it will be an awesome fight because Guida never disappoints. Schiavo gets his first loss since 05′ via TKO.
Guida! Woo! I hope this fight turns out better for Clay. That guy was pushing hard the whole match (and winning). Oh well, maybe it’ll fire up a good long-standing feud between the two.
man this cards just keeps gettign better and better
i’m so excited that they keep adding awesome fights to this. I think i picked a good one to go to for my first UFC event.
neer vs. din thomas is in this card too!!!!!!
I’m excited to se Guida on this card, but I would of liked to se him fight Frankie Edgar or Spencer Fisher. When there names were uttered in the same sentance by Mike Goldburg I immediatly got excited. On the bright Side, mabey they gave Guida an opponent that he can finish. Although he is a great fighter it would be nice to se him not just out cardio someone to earn a decision. He is a very exciting fighter none the less and I am glad to se him on this card.
It would be ironic to see Schiavo knocked out into a coma.
WARRR GUIDAAA!!!!
Anybody doing homework?? Schiavo is on a 6 win streak, and comes from French Top Team! Maybe Guida has the endurance to go all 3 rounds, but he has shown not to be so efficient later in the fights. Plus, he’s 3-2, how great can Guida be???
