Nate Diaz UFC Video

Props: Sherdog.com

Diaz also mentions Kenny Florian, Kurt Pellegrino and Din Thomas specifically. He’s also a bit confused about the decision to let Joe Lauzon fight Florian when Diaz is the one who won The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5.

Man, 155 is such a stacked division. The lightweights have got to be the best part of Joe Silva’s job. It almost doesn’t matter which guys you throw into the ring, it will most likely be a great fight.

Diaz needs to take on one of the gatekeepers of the division, e.g. Din Thomas or Spencer Fisher. If Diaz can win a fight against one of those guys, that opens the door to Edgar, Griffin or Huerta.

I love the line mentioning Tyson Griffin used to be on their team but he went Hollywood. Anyway, I have to admit that I was surprised to see Lauzon get KenFlo already also. Based on that matchup though you have to think Diaz will get a top contender next time out. I’d say Pelligrino isn’t a bad idea but even then Pelligrino is easily below KenFlo and I think Diaz is easily above Lauzon. Regardless get Nate a contender - he’s ready for it.

I actually shouldn’t say Diaz is easily above Lauzon on second thought but they are awfully close in my opinion and if I had to take one of the two now I take Diaz.

He was very impressive last night..Also, for his size he had some strength. The way he lifted Robinson and toss him around was very good.

Probably because they don’t care if Joe gets his head handed to him right out of the gate. The TUF 5 champ needs to build up his record.
The fight I want to see is Nate against a high energy fighter like Clay or Roger H.
I don’t see why a fighter would be against building up his win average some.

As soon as Florian/Lauzon was booked, I was baffled. Yeah, Joe beat Jens at 155, but Joe was on TUF 5. Did he win? NO. Did he make it to the finals? NO. So why does the winner of the show get to fight in opening bouts of televisied portions of Fight Nights, and a semifinalist gets a main event? Does not make sense to me. That is the equivalent of having Sam Hoger fight Tito Ortiz instead of Forrest fighting Tito back then. Baffling.

I think that Thiago Tavarez would be a great next opponent for Diaz. I don’t see Nate easily beating Tyson Griffin as of right now (although I would not count him out by any means, but he would not be the favorite).

SideNote: I was very happy to see Nick finally in Nate’s corner. I don’t think Nick has any fights coming up, but he did look much larger than usual. Yes he usually fights one weight class above Nate, but I thought he looked rather larger than usual - even considering he doesn’t have a fight coming up.

To be honest, I don’t get the Florian/Lauzon fight either. Especially with Edgar and Guida fighting on the card, as well. I think it’s fair to say that Florian, Guida, and Edgar are all top 10 at 155 in the UFC. I can understand not giving Guida another top 10 fight since he’s been fighting nothing but top guys, but Edgar/Florian would have been perfect.

I KNOW WHAT SILVA IS GOING TO DO!!!

He WILL match Nate D. v Joe Daddy.

Think about it. He was just knocked off the contender run, why not give feed him a “noob” like Diaz. Either way the UFC wins. If diaz wins, they have a new LW top contender, and if Joe wins, he is on his way back up the ranks and acted as a good gate keeper..

Your right we need the Diaz brothers back in the octagon. Nick has one fight remaining on his deal with Elite and that fight is in April in Hawaii. Right after that fight Dana needs to sign Nick to a three fight deal at least.

i think its also part of joe silva protecting nate. I mean if he brings nate along slowly, and puts him through 2 more fights before a top contender, he’ll have a better chance than now. i mean the man probably signed an 8 fight contract, why take a chance now. Look at joe stevenson, Forrest griffin, rashad evans, bisping, they where all heavily protected their first few fights.

And watch nate diaz vs hermes franca, he beat the piss out of franca for the first bit of the fight and got armbared. I think lauzon would win the fight, but a good fight none the less.

I was really impressed with nate diaz’s stregnth last night. I keep thinking he’s going to get smashed by someone stronger than him and he keeps proving me wrong. Very nice.

As for Nick Diaz… I doubt he’d get resigned to the UFC anytime soon. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Nick Diaz fan, and a pre gomi-fight fan, but he’s just too inconsistent. He didn’t look good against Aina (sp?) or Noons.

the reason what lauzon is fight florian is because in the ufc its what you have done but who you have beat and he knocked out jens so hes a head of diaz the TUF is just all exabition fights they dont count so when it comes down to it he is higher up the diaz for that reason

WOW, Nate Diaz looked awsome and people are right he did look stronger He has definitey been doing some wieght training you can tell just by looking at his physical structure.

Diaz’s flexibility is unbelievable and is coparable to BJ’s his legs are like arms. That was the most impressive triangle you will ever see. Its the first time Ive seen a fighter apply a triangle with out having to lock it up by grabbing the ankle and cinching it under the leg, he did grab the ankle but it was already locked amazing flexibility.

If he can continue to add strength and keep good conditioning he is a threat to anyone at LW

And I love the admiration and respect the Diaz brothers have with each other

Nate cant run with the big dogs…

he would be toast vs the likes of Sherk, Huerta, Guida, BJ,Edgar or Griffen. He lucked out vs Manny.

He might beat the Joe Stevenson that showed up for the sucky title match. I doubt he could beat Pelligreno or Thiago.

I see it like this… (Not Rankings, but where on the totem pole if they were to slug it out right now)

BJ PENN
Sherk
GOMI
Diego Sanchez (Should he move down)
Florian
Huerta
Griffen
Guida
Thiago
Danzig
Pelligreno
Manny
Spencer Fisher
Nate
Joe Lauzon
Melvin Guillard

Big oversight on that list. Go ahead and stick Frankie Edgar between Florian and Huerta. Also, move Nightmare down about three spots and then I would say you have a decent list going on there.

i think maybe the reason they did that is b/c nate is a tuf winner and they dont want their 100k contract fighter getting his ass kicked right away….ala kendall grove…i bet towards the middle or end of his contract they start to give him tougher guys to fight.com’on you know the ufc is’nt worry about the fighgters but how the fighters reflect on the ufc.the ufc will milk nate for every thing he’s worth and if sucessful they’ll said (this kid is tough, and a real fighter, the kinda guys with want, blah blah blah.) and if not then it will be nothing but a bunch of negative shit form dana.oh yeah hope joe beat ken down

WIn WIn WIN and shold go to the finals only to have the team you beat
(KEith J. beating Forrest G.) only to have the 2nd place team go jump ahead of you and go for the title Forrest vs RAMpage.

Nope compleatly disagree, what your basing it on is the following theory…

‘the underdog shouldn’t have won lets give the favourite a chance to scrub that win’

There is no way Jardine should have to face Chuck anytime soon, likewise Lauzon vs Pulver & GG vs Cro Cop.

They beat them fair and square and should be able to move onwards and upwards from it.

Nick Dias in my mind is the most exciting fighter to watch win or lose. He took Gomi places he had never been before and I don’t want to hear that if it wasnt for Mary Janes assistance the outcome would have been different.

As for Nate he’s going sell alot of fights with the attitude he has and he will become a fan favorite. Yes he speaks like a thug but he’s not maliciouse like Guillard is in his rants. And I think Diaz is a much better fighter than melvin is by far. The Diaz brothers will always have a huge fan base in MMA.
