The proof about Kimbo's MMA fighting prowess has yet to be proven. Let the guy get established with a couple of "has been's" or a few "never will be's" then he'll move up the food chain of MMA. Right now he has proven that he can street brawl and that doesn't translate to a whole lot, but it does prove he can stand and bang with anyone. I think once he get's the grappling game down he will be very dangerous, right now he's a side show, but then again the UFC brought in Brock Lesnar! I believe he has a ton of potential and he's in the perfect proving ground to get started, give it a year or two and we'll see if Kimbo comes around.
Lesnar is a two-time D-I wrestling champion with better credentials than a lot of guys starting out in UFC. Kimbo hasn't shown himself to be anything more than a street brawler, unless you count his really MMA-like choke-out win over 48-year-old boxing wash-up Ray Mercer.
Last I checked Lesnar has had 1 MMA fight and before that he was in the WWE. I do know about the Division-1 wrestling but that is not MMA! Kimbo and Lesnar are both on the same plain, one can street brawl and one can wrestle but neither is well rounded, hence the comparison! I hate to be the one to break it to you, but guy's like Kurt Angle, The Undertaker and the other clowns that follow a scripted and choreographed fight sequence don't give any credence to your "credentials" statement! Ray Mercer was over the hill, I'll give you that, but I don't play into the fantasy of "Professional Wrestling" and I hope that you don't either, I know you are better than that! Aren't you?
How many successful UFC fighters came from a wrestling background? How many came from an internet street fighting background where they took on the obese and uncoordinated of the ghetto? Including Lesnar and a sideshow like Kimbo in the same "plain" is foolishness. A proven wrestler like Lesnar has the foundation needed for a successful career in mma. However, a backyard youtube brawler like Kimbo Slice can only hope to achieve ButterBean status. I say bring Sean Gannon back to whoop him again.
Kimbo is 2-0 so far in MMA and has some really good teachers to learn from, he's showing improvement, he's evolving! As far as Kimbo coming from YouTube, Kimbo backed everything up, we have yet to see Lesnar in a REAL fight! Lesnar and Kimbo, no matter how you slice and dice it, are on the same plain! To think they are not IS foolishness and turning a blind eye to what's truth is just plain dumb! Different backgrounds but neither is well rounded, period. You are buying into the D-1 wrestling, cool, so am I and that's what I alluded to earlier, but WWE is not MMA, I give more credence to street fighting, have you ever been in a street fight? You'll note the difference when that first punch lands!
By the way, until Lesnar shows me anything he's still the main event at the UFC Sideshow!

take it easy on the guy. while i agree the fights he's been offered are jokes and have yet to prove his status beyond what the street brawler he already was, but, those are the fights that are getting offered to him and agree with it or not, the marketing is working one way or the other.

i'm a pretty die hard mma fan, and love nothing more than to watch beautiful precision striking or ground technique, but i have to admit, kimbo still had potential to offer to good striking and brawling at the heavy weight level. and the bottom line is, if he didn't have that potential, bas wouldn't have taken him in.

guys join training teams and start their mma careers coming from cubicles and classrooms (hence from TUF contestants). while lacking technique and skill, kimbo still has 100's of street fights under his belt which gives him the instinct of what it's like to fight that much and also take a beating.

he's got a ton to learn and he's definitely not worth a ppv buy yet, but i hope he makes it to the level in which he can get it in with some big names in some legit venues. i think this guy's got A LOT OF POTENTIAL. if not, oh well. we were doin fine before he got here anyway

There's many people hating on Kimbo and Lesnar on other message boards. Give them some time. They just started training in MMA about a year ago. Do you expect them to be good with a year of training in MMA? Both of them are very serious about training and thus earned my respect. I've met Kimbo in person before and he is very humble.
haters....you are all haters. who gives a flying monkeys ass where he started. if he is entertaining to watch and gives good fight who cares. i guarantee if he starts kicking some major azz there will be a flood of band-wagoners on this site and others, many of which are talking shit about him now.
Problem with that statement is he has yet to be involved in any good or entertaining mma matches. FACT! I will admit that if him and Tank come out and bang it out it could be an entertaining fight and thats the most important thing! Would that really be an mma match, we will leave that discussion for another day. I love mma, the striking, the grappling, the takedowns/defense and I can accept that we will see little mma in that fight if any, but if Kimbo and Tank slug it out for atleast 2 minutes and it ends in a good KO and is an entertaining fight, then I will call him an entertaining mma fighter....but as of now, he hasn't been involved in any entertaining mma matches. Thats why, I dont believe he should get this much exposure on mma forums.....His fight with Tank wont have any mma in it, but I can live with that as long as it is exciting. But thats still to be seen.
