UFC 82 Jon Fitch Marcus Davis
Akihiro Gono is hurt.

Karo Parisyan is busy.

Marcus Davis is victorious (again … and unhurt … and a hometown boy).

Jon Fitch is lonely.

Make it happen, Joe Silva.

Yeah, I think that a win over Marcus Davis would certainly lend a lot of credence to Fitch’s already-well-respected game. Davis is on a friggin tear, but I just can’t see him outlasting Fitch. Plus, I think Fitch has outdone better competition.

Plus, who the hell roots against Fitch on this site?

yes marcus davis is doing better than he was before, with a big fight win streak… but against lesser relatively unknown opponents… lets send him a real test and then see the outcome… after seeing his post-fight interview after UFC 80, i think his head is getting a little too big for his shoulders…

This fight would be a good opportunity for Marcus but a bit of a step down for Fitch (however not very different from the Gono matchup). Fitch doesn’t have much to gain from this fight, but it would be great to see what Marcus Davis is truly made of. Marcus may have honed his ground game but a big fighter with the skill set like Fitch could set him back if he loses in a devastating fashion. Marcus stated before that he was happy with the way his game is coming together but didn’t seemed to ambitious to call out other high ranked fighters. I would like to see how Markus can preform against someone with a higher pedigree in grappling after all Joe Stevenson did make quick work him on TUF2

The only way this could happen is if they take Fitch off the UFC 82 card. Davis didn’t take much damage last night, but I still don’t think he’ll take a big fight like Fitch on such short notice. Maybe they’ll bump Fitch’s fight back to 84. (talk about a stacked card)

I with you on this one. I kind of have to back Davis too. Here’s a real nice guy in person too. Plus he says if Joe Silva doesn’t put him on an Irish card he’s going to buy a ticket. So we’d get a bunch of cans, I’m thinking Ross Pointon, Colin Robinson and some other nobodies but at least Marcus would be there lol.(I don’t consider the Belfast card an Irish card really. More a UK card.) But it’s too bad because it’s never going to happen.

As for Marcus Davis being “irish”. I have to laugh. At least he knows where his grandparents are from though. It’s funny

The kilt thing is gay. That’s very scottish not irish. It’s all a bit confusing.

Actually now that I really think about it. I don’t mind who wins as long as it’s a good fight. It makes perfect sense.

Fitch’s superior wrestling would result in an easy win for him. Marcus’ ground game is improving, but it’s not close to where it needs to be for him to hold his own against someone like Fitch.

Easy win for Fitch - can’t see him keeping it on the feet. Good test for Marcus though, would like to see him compete against tougher opponents.

C’mon, Fitch would beat Davis any day, he’ll use his size and strength to lay on davis for the whole fight.

Fitch will Lay n Gay on Davis for 15 min, I’m predicting a snoozefest. Fitch ain’t that good, he’s got wrestling and a lil GnP to use on opponents trying to get his LnGay ass off of him. He rarely pushes the action and basically lays on people the whole fight until they make a mistake trying to get his boring Hugging-ass off them, then he’ll throw strikes for points.

In the diego fight, he layed on diego almost the whole fight. Fitch is so boring.

Diego pushed the action the WHOLE fight and payed for it, the only time fitch wasnt LaynGayin on Diego was when Diego was pressing the action, trying to get away from Fitch’s LnG. Thank goodness Diego was at least trying to get that boring-ass fighter off of him otherwise that fight would have been Fitch Humping and Groping Diego’s ass the whole fight.

Expect the same against Davis, Fitch will LayNGay on Davis the whole fight and only get points when Davis exposes himself trying to get that boring LayNGay wrestler off of him.

Fitch will not stand and fight cuz he has no hands.

But Fitch will LayNGay his way to victory…. Fitch=BORING Big Time

Check out this UFC news:

* The UFC will hold an event at London’s 02 Arena in June.

* Germany will also host an event this year, as could Croatia, Ireland and Scotland.

* White confirmed that the UFC will never strip Randy Couture of the heavyweight title: “He’s got a half million of my money. He can fight. He can fight if he wants to. We’ll keep it (an interim title) forever. Believe me, we’ll hold on forever.”……..Dana is being a real A-hole…All this so Randy doesn’t fight Fedor….It will still happen, Dana cant stop it forever!

* Marcus Davis, who defeated Jess Liaudin for his 11th straight win (including his sixth straight in the UFC), again said he wants to fight former PRIDE lightweight champ Takanori Gomi in his next fight.

So Marcus Davis vs. Takanori Gomi…..WOW!!! I would love to see that. All UFC fighters are talking about Gomi like he already is in the UFC. I hope my source was right.

Also Kim Couture, Randy’s new mony hungry wife is looking to make her MMA debut in Febuary!

davis has worked on BJJ because it was a glaring hole in his game. He now has kicks because he almost got beat by one last time out.

And even though I’m a Davis fan, I think he’ll be working a lot of wrestling after the fitch fight. I can’t see him winning that.

I would have liked to see him fight Thiago Alves or Karo. that’d be fun.

Icon13 Tito/Machida Update
Dave Meltzer reported in the print edition of The Wrestling Observer that when presented with the Machida fight, Ortiz responded that he wanted to fight a bigger name. I’ve followed up a bit on this, and apparently Tito wants to fight one of the following 3: Wanderlei Silva, Shogun Rua, or Rashad Evans.

He hasn’t outright rejected the Machida fight though, so it’s still a possibility.

Bad fight for Karo, Alves is a physical dude and made quick work of Lytle, a guy that Matt Hughes couldn’t finish within three rounds. Karo thinks he’s getting a tune up fight but I think Karo screwed up and gets either TKO or dominated all three rounds like against GSP.

True, his win streak is impressive but his opponents were not. His 6 fights in the UFC were great fights for him to give him time to round out his MMA game, but definitely do not get him in the mix. The WW division is way too deep and has fighters with much bigger names than Marcus, even ones that are not on any type of win streaks. This is because they were losing to each other, other well-rounded well known fighters. Marcus is still expanding his tool kit. He doesn’t yet match up well with the top dogs that are well rounded and do everything well.

He’s doing just fine where he’s at right now. I think that will change for sure though when he fights Fitch.

Fitch vs Davis = something we already know about Fitch. Marcus has made strides but he is no where the level of Jon Fitch, the match up would still be exciting, Marcus’ standup is extremely dangerous. Rich Franklin wouldn’t go toe toe with Marcus. Fitch is a well rounded fighter but my argument is that AKA will never produce a champion at the UFC level. I guarantee that Fitch is the best grappler in that whole camp. It might be beneficial for fighters like Kos to train there, but i think that Fitch is dis-servicing himself and either hiself or Kos should change camps. Fitch is intelligent but if Kos is feeding of Fitch and Fitch is feeding off Kos for their respected skills will only limit their potential. AKA has four top ranked fighters at 170 who’s running that camp? for one they have arguably 3 top ten fighters in the UFC at 170, how is that good for either fighter?
