I honestly believe in my heart and soul Randy has Fedor’s number. I have always had this assumption that Fedor just towers over most fighters physically. Just a mamouth of a man. After watching this; Randy knows what he is “giving up” so to speak.(lawsuit w/ ufc, etc.) He is a man that knows what he wants. Its almost as if he is sacrificing himself so the fight fans can know…NOT THINK, but KNOW, who the best fighter in the world is. This is what would be said if Randy is to lose… but he won’t. Only a man of his character would leave the comfortable situation he had, and cause a rukuss just to be able to fight one man.
If Randy stayed in the UFC (or stays), how easy would it be to point the finger at Fedor for not signing w/ UFC?, pretty easy in my opinion. If you always brag about having the best fighters in the world, you can easily say Fedor was “scared”. Right? Randy could easily stay in the comfortable arms of the UFC – like so many other fighters who were offered more money elsewhere like; Matt Hughes, etc…
My point is…. Randy isn’t taking the easy road. He never has. He never will. He is a man w/ a vision. He will be MMA’s hero for ALL-TIME! No matter what the outcome of this situation. Win, lose, or draw… he is simply “The Natural”.

yeah saw this friday. i love inside MMA, awesome program and worth the price of HD programming alone.

as for randy vs fedor? probably isn’t going to happen for a while. this was talked about on the same ep of inside MMA. the UFC has filed suit against randy. right now they are taking him to court over his UFC publicity contract, NOT his fight contract. so this is just the start. they can still file suit against him for breech of his fight contract later. randy better get used to the court room, but its his own fault. he should have honored the deal he made with Zuffa and not tried this BS martyr campaign he’s on. “wahh the ufc is mean to me”. suck it up randy you big f’n crybaby, be honorable and do what you said you were going to do.

So… this is fact? Randy really works for Cuban now? Whoa! This affliction deal didn’t have anything to do w/ Cuban to my knowledge. Well in that case… if the fight has to happen in a backyard somewhere (Whatup Kimbo) it’ll happen sooner or later.

I think Dana White should suck it up and do what is best for mma and work with M1 to make this fight happen. It may not be in the best interest for the UFC but mma would benefit greatly. Besides if he does I bet Randy’s tune would change plus I think Randy beats Fedor and if he does M1 suffers for that too they have all of there hopes resting on Fedor. With him losing to a “old man” how can they say he is the best then.

this is from my buddy in Seattle…

My nephew moved to Vegas to work for his dad. The latest is that Randy has pretty much agreed to work for Mark Cuban and his HDNETfight company. As soon has his UFC contract expires in October they plan to announce a fight against Fedor at Madison Square Garden. They want to be the first MMA event at the Garden, and if Fedor remains unbeaten, and Randy and his legal team’s opinion of the UFC contract holds up.

UFC claim that as long as Randy holds the belt, and they have offered him a fight that his contract is held up and will not expire until he fights. Could get ugly in court.

But, the Fedor thing, promoted by Mark Cuban is pretty much a done deal provided all the details fall into place

Fedor did not sign with Ufc for a couple of reasons. One reason was he was not able to participate in Judo and Sumbo tournaments, which he has never lost since he has participated in. Second, if he signed with UFC he would not be able to appear in any shows, tv, or sponsor any brands with out UFC permision. Third and worst off all, he had to fight 8 fights in two years with a certain amount of money, if he lost any of those fights UFC could cancel the contract at any time, but if he stayed undefeated his contract would extend automaticaly. Againg 8 fights in two years with the same pay. Now I dont know why anybody would be that stupid to take a contract like that, Randy is trying to get payed for what he is worth.Nothing wrong with that!!

thought randy only signed a 3 fight deal for 1-2 yrs was it, didnt think he had more than 1 left, plus with all dis bs bout zuffa taking him to court, they believe his contract wont expire until he fights his last fight with them, really messy stuff here! personally i belive dis fight need to be in a cage if randy is to win, the man wins fights by tying guys up in da clinch, dirty boxing against the cage, with ropes, deres just too much give! randy great wrestler, but fedor can submit from on his bck, plus has great power in his hands as everyone knows, for randys sake i just hope its in a cage! THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN!

Fedor will beat Couture in a cage and if it happened in a ring, it will be over for Couture. I’m guessing if they do fight, it will not be in the UFC and will probably be an M-1 ring. Couture’s strength is with clinching against the cage and dirty boxing so he will not be able to do as much in a ring. In the past, Couture has shown that he does not do very well on his back and Fedor’s ground and pound is one of the best. I can see him getting dominated if Fedor gets side control. I’m a Randy fan but I’m being realistic and can’t see him winning Fedor.

It’s funny that people think Couture will beat Fedor. He’s got a fighter’s chance. But, Fedor outclasses him in every aspect of the game. The only place Randy comes close is heart and conditioning. Couture’s a great guy, but Fedor is in a league of his own. Watch as many fights as you can of both fighters, and you will see the evidence. Hopefully this fight happens. :)

This fight needs to happen! FUCK BUSINESS…

LETS SEE SOME MMA HISTORY!

Here’s what I think is going on so far, I may be wrong of course, so don’t jump all over me.

I think ZUFFA is only suing on the basis of the employment/commentating contract for now, they’re still seeking the injunction that they truely want.

IF anything goes badly for Zuffa in this legal issue. Expect another lawsuit to be filed with legal claims about Couture’s fighting contract. As to date Zuffa is seeing if they can get an injunction without having to subject all of their fighter contracts under the legal microscope.

The lawsuit also alleges conspiracy?… Nasty.

The legal battle goes further than October of 2009. White/Zuffa wants to OWN Couture FOR LIFE with these clauses if he is unable to accept a fight regardless of resignation, injury, retirement or anything else.. period.. No-compete clauses lasting more than one year generally do not do well in court. IF Zuffa wins this legal battle they will OWN ALL FIGHTER’S for the duration of the contract, regardless of any time limitations … yet.. cancel a fighter’s contract at will.. which they have done plenty of times.

I’m not exactly sure, but I think if ZUFFA wins, this will be bad for the fighters contract.

yeah, I also have that feeling that Randy would come back out of retirement, but only if Noguerra wins.
He wont comeback for a rematch against Tim Sylvia…no way that ever happens. Randy vs. Fedor WILL HAPPEN with out a doubt in my mind. There are too many business savy people involved that keep stating that this fight will happen no matter what. Monte Cox, Cuban, Randy, Fedor…they all have said it. Now Dana knows his business, but cuban and cox are no dummies….I dont think that they would be openly talking about this fight like its inevitable if it wasn’t. In the long run Dana, is gonna miss out cause he wont get any parts of that mega pay day.

One question to all the Fedor hater….If Fedor defeats Randy, will u all finally give in and accept his dominance as the greatest fighter in the world…or will you all just keep being ignorant haters?

The UFC Heavyweight division is melting away right before our eyes. Just months ago, it looked like the HW’s were finally back, Cro Cop landed in the UFC, Randy was champ, Gonzaga was on the up and up, Verra was making his return to the octagon, and Fedor was supposed to be close to signing a deal with the UFC……How did we get to this point?

The destruction of the Heavyweight division:

Fedor signs with M-1

Randy retires from UFC

Cro Cop gets knocked around all over the Octagon (BUST)

Arlovski is being wasted by having him fight Jake O’brien and then letting AA walk away to M-1

Tim Sylvia, could potentially be champ again (SAD day for mma if that happens)

Gonzaga is showing why the public should be cautious before crowning and unproven fighter as the next great thing

Verra is one fight away from finding out that he should be fighting at 205 lb.

Werdum has been officially awarded a title shot vs. the winner of Sylvia/Noguerra

Kongo has emerged but still lacks a ground game to be taken seriously.

The Heavyweight division is slowly evaporating in front of our very eyes….Thanks Dana…Where did it all go wrong? I will tell you exactly where it went wrong…..When Dana offered Fedor a BS unsignable contract, thats when the demise of the UFC heavyweight division began…Thanks Dana…we are months away from potentially seeing the worst UFC Heavyweight title fight of all time between
Tim Sylvia vs. Werdum……God help us….only thing that can stop that attrocity is Noguerra via arm bar!

If he would have never tried to screw Fedor over then he could have had this super fight all to himself like he wanted it in the first place.

Randy is willing to give away his purse for the Fedor fight to charity
Randy said at the After the Bell UFC 79 show on the Fight Network, that when he made the offer for a co promotion with M1 to the UFC, he was even willing to give away his whole purse to charity to make this fight happen.

Funny, that many people on this board call a guy greedy, who is willing to give away his whole purse for the biggest fight of his career (maybe the biggest fight in MMA history) to charity and has collected lots of money for the troops with his GI foundation.

Dana is a real Piece of ish for trying to block this fight from happening! Dana, u r already a millionaire, the UFC is established and it will only grow. Regardless of the out come of the Fedor vs. Randy fight, the UFC will continue to blow up. Dana had his chance to get paid off this fight but he chose to attempt to strong arm Fedor, that didnt happen, u lost your shot, now get out of the way so that mma history can be made! If not for the fans, or Randy, do it for the less fortunate people who will benefit from the proceeds of Randy’s fight vs. the Russian Monster!

In my opinion this fight will unfortunately not happen anytime soon. Couture has two fights left on his contract with the UFC. Thus, the UFC will stall and attempt to tie this up in court for as long as possible, and the U.S. legal system is SLOW already. The best chance for Couture is actually the precedent that the UFC has taken in cancelling contracts or letting them expire. I thought they were going to let Arlovski’s expire, but I saw John wrote that he is going to fight Jake O’Brien. They probably offered him this only because of the Couture situation. It’s a joke that Werdum is getting the winner of the interim HW belt no matter what… if Nog wins it should be Arlovski. Back to my point, if Couture and team can convince the court that Couture had a valid reason not to accept the Nog fight as the #1 contender for the UFC HW belt then they have a chance. However, in my opinion, it’s going to be a very difficult argument to convince an unbiased judge.

The Ripple Effects of Gonzaga’s Loss (Long)
After watching Werdum try to open-hand slap Arlovski like he’d been studying Don Magic Juan instructional videos in preparation for that fight, I figured Gonzaga was going to beat Werdum senseless if they didn’t go to the ground. Of course, I still had the image of Cro Cop’s ankle folding like a bendy straw after Gonzaga and the bastard sprite of karma gave Mirko a taste of the HLK.

But what I saw on Saturday made absolutely no sense to me. Gonzaga looked strong early, and I thought he was going to damn near kick through Werdum’s leg. Werdum, understandably, wanted none of those leg kicks, and he was visibly limping during the first round and falling around trying to avoid singing “I have no Legs.” And then Werdum comes out in the second (and does what Silva didn’t against Lidell) and uses some of that patented Chute Box Muy Thai plume clinching and puts Gonzaga down with some knees, and down goes Gonzaga, causing me to revaluate his place in the ranks, as well as Couture’s to some degree.

Let me explain. Gonzaga looked so weak against Werdum’s Muy Thai that I truly think that Vera has a decent shot at beating Gonzaga if they kept standing. I think Couture takes Vera. Vera, on the other hand, couldn’t utilize his Muy Thai (or perhaps chose not to) against Tim and just looked like he didn’t belong fighting heavy weights that big. To complicate things more, I think Couture beat Tim when Tim is rumored to have been injured and on his way to back surgery.

What does this all mean? Who the fuck knows. I do think, however, that it is entirely possible that Couture through a mixture of very hard work and luck has been elevated by some to be the one true challenger for Fedor’s crown, and I think that might be unrealistic given the circumstances surrounding Couture’s last two fights. Say what you want about Fedor not fighting anyone recently, but the fact remains that he has fought several heavy weights who are presently in the UFC mix who Couture has not. (I do think that Couture would have beaten the Cro Cop that showed up against Gonzaga, but it looks like we’ll never know.) The most glaring example is Nog. Granted, Couture did not have to fight all of them because he was the champ, but he was slated to fight Nog. And Couture, before coming out of retirement to fight Tim had been knocked out twice by Liddell, and if his wins against Tim (perhaps Tim was injured) and Gonzaga (not as good as everyone thinks given his performance against Werdum) are at all suspect, then there is a very good chance that this Fedor-Couture hype is simply marketing and promotion rather than the consequence of the making of a competitive fight. Hell, when Fedor goes all sociopath/terminator he makes Liddell’s flurries look rather tame, in my opinion.

In the end Couture may ride the wave of the UFC branding machine to a very lucrative pay day in a fight against Fedor. The UFC pumped up that Captain America image, and now Captain America by all accounts looks like he’s slated to do battle with the Russian destroyer. But I have the feeling this is going to be an incredibly brutal fight for Couture, the likes of which he probably hasn’t seen for years, if ever. Of course, at his age, it’s a story book fight to perhaps cap his career, and I can understand why he perhaps does not want to fight Nog or anyone else between now and when he squares off against Fedor. The problem is, however, without a benchmark fight against a Nog, there is no way to predict how he will fare in that fight. Personally, I think Fedor soundly beats Couture. I have to be honest, though — I can’t wait to see if Couture will prove me wrong again.

Yeah if Dana sues Randy for something he is doing for the fans and for charity this will make him look so bad and Dana will never live this down as long as he lives. What a fat, greedy, bald headed chump. My question is does M-1 have champions for each weight class and is Fedor the HW champ? I’m just not real sure how it all works with M-1 being a new orginization and all.

Fedor will probably fight Semmy Schilt next
There has been talk that Fedor would meet Jeff Monson or Pedro Rizzo in his next fight. But according to an article here on Sherdog it looks like it’s going to be Semmy Schilt:

“As for his opponent, Dutchman Semmy Schilt (Pictures) seems to have overtaken Pedro Rizzo (Pictures) and Jeff Monson (Pictures) in favor with Finkelstein and company. The three-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion made a successful comeback to MMA on Jan. 12 and will be in Moscow the second weekend in February to negotiate the details.”

In another forum I read that Schilt is looking to sign with UFC. Can anyone confirm this?

I guess my question wasn’t good enough. I think I know the answer already. M-1 probablly doesn’t even have a fighter for each weight class so how can they have a champ. So I guess if you beat Fedor in a co-promotion you can be The M-1 heavyweight champ and not even fight for M-1. Either that or there are no champs at all. What a orginization!

Dana is trying to prove a point with couture being one of the biggest names. White probably feels that if he lets Randy walk away without any repremand then he loses controle of the UFC. He is like every other big time corporation CEO, overbearing and overcontroling in ever aspect. Do it for the fans who want to see this fight happen, and stop trying to be a foughtblocker. What has Fedor been up to since his last fight? I know what Randy has been doing competing. I saw him at the Professional Submission League match against Ronaldo Santos in a intense submission match. Check out the newest thing called Professional Submission League. They have had two events the first was L.A. Sub in Santa Monica, and the second was Xmission. You tube has some cool videos, or check out the website Professionalsubmissionleague.com/ or mmaclassics.com. I hope this fight does not become one of those what if these two fighter would of fought. Question for all what fights would you of liked to see happen?

Fedor vs. Couture

OVERALL, a very interesting analysis, however Gonzaga just proves to not do well in the clinch whether it’s Couture’s dirty boxing and takedowns or Werdums muay thai knees. If Couture fought Werdum, I don’t believe his knees would get to Couture. Couture would whip Werdum.

Couture use to train with Tim Silvia, and always was able to take him down at will with those doubles and double trips… Couture just added a head bob and weave while standing and great overhand right…. “he could still whip Silvia”

Fedor vs Couture?….. ahhh’ now that’s a just let’s wait n see.

Let me ask you, are you yourself or in any way shape or form affiliated or associated with any type of law enforcement? I just want to know how you are so sure. If you have an inside scoop then fine. I’ll listen. But if thats your opinion than just say it. Don’t act like you are a paralegal when you are a blue collar worker dude. Again, if you know something I don’t, let me know. Otherwise, I’ll keep my hopes up…. rather than having none!
Yeah is it just me or did Gonzaga look fat and out of shape. He was heavier and it certainly wasn’t muscle mass. Maybe Werdum beat a couch potato gonzaga and not the gonzaga that just kicked Cro Cop into the next year.
Fedor has fought far stronger men than Couture or anyone Randy has fought, as well as just larger opponents in general, and did fine. Your remark about him towering over his opponents shows you haven’t seen him fight the likes of Semmy Schilt, among several others. He has fought better grapplers than Couture has, and far better strikers. Couture will bring nothing surprising to this fight for Fedor, who is at least as skilled in the ground fight, and definitely more proficient with his strikes. Couture was put down by Chuck “the windmill” Liddell for god’s sake, Fedor was not put down by ANYONE, and many of his opponents are of far superior striking ability than Chuck.

Also, yeah, Randy is great, but it’s not like Fedor ISN’T also a class act, full of respect, humble, ect. He’s equally deserving of of being called mma’s greatest of all time in that regard also.

The truth is and everyone knows the dana white is simply a big DICK. Thats the reason if they dont fight now. Come on randy is not going to fight the winner of ufc81 he would reck them both the only thing that could happen is if randy makes a deal with dana to be out of the contract if he fights once more and dana would probilly not agree to that ethier because his job is to not make the fight happen now because like i said dana white is a big dick.

I AM A BIG MMA FAN. ALL THE FIGHTERS ARE GREAT, BUT THERE HAS NEVER BEEN TWO WARRIORS LIKE RANDY AN FEDOR. I THINK THIS FIGHT SHOULD GO ON. RANDY IS ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGHTERS THAT HAS EVER STEPPED INTO A RING OR OCTAGON. RANDY SAID HE WANTED TO FIGHT THE BEST , BUT BY STAYING IN THE UFC HE IS NOT GOING TO DO THAT. DANA BRING HIM FEDOR. AND FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT WOULD BE MORE INTERRESTED IN THE SILIVA VS NOGUIERIA FIGHT COME ON IT MIGHT BE A GOOD FIGHT BUT BASED ON THERE LAST PREFORMENCE I DON’T THINK SO.

Randy will fight Fedor.

UFC doesn’t have a leg to stand on to stop this. They are going after a trivial lawsuit that will get them nothing. … Dana is a jerk and his empire is crumbling.
