Funny at the end. I hope Mir continues to climb the ladder but I also hope that Lesnar makes an impact in this fight win or lose. He’s always entertaining and his sheer size would pose a threat to any fighter.

Couple things…

First of all,
I HATE FRANK MIR’s COMMINTATING ON THE WEC… he sounds llike such an idiot. Example: I was watching the TUF 6 runner up Tommy Spears fight some brazillian. The whole fight (which didnt last long b/c Tommy knocked him the **** out) he was saying how sloppy Tommy was and how bad his foot work was and how Technique ALWAYS overcomes strength…

Second,
Brock was on the cover of a muscle and fitness mag I thin kit was last months ( I cant remember ) but it shows him training and talks a little bit about it. He is determined to destroy any and all opponents. Its going to be a good fight.

I think Mir is a great color man, much better than Rogan. He is very knowledgeable on every aspect of MMA, especially the ground game. He knows what each fighter is trying to do, knows when someone is about to get caught in a sub or when they will avoid it and sweep. And he explains everything with the right combination of technical terminology and plain English. As far as his fight with Lesnar, I think the styles are going to heavily favor Mir. Couple that with the fact that this is Lesnar’s first fight in the octagon, and octagon first-timers rarely do well, and Mir takes the fight.

This is going to be a very interesting fight.

Alot of people dont think Lesnar will amount to nothing in this game, and I dont get why. Lesnar is the best physical specimen to get into MMA at HW ever. Not only is he huge, but he is lighweight quick and very powerfull. He is a elite wrestler and anyone who has ever wrestled D1 knows they practice harder than anyone at any sport.

I do believe Lesnar will lose before he makes a big step in MMA. And it very well be in this fight. I think Mir is a terrible fight for Lesnar his first time out. Lesnar is going to be amped up big time. He is going to have swarms of press and expectations on him that are huge, by the fans and the UFC brass. I think he will come in and Mir will give him the quick flashy takedown, Lesnar will go for the impressive quick gnp win and give a arm up and get subbed. In the end this will make him a better fighter, but the non believeers will be saying they told you so. But in the end Lesnar will be a very good HW.

There is a good chance Mir will be getting up off the mat and screaming at the crowd and the camera I’m back after this one.

Or maybe Lesnar will be dubbed the next big thing in MMA!

The UFC I’m sure is hoping for Lesnar to be amazing and huge for the sport. With Randy basicly gone and turning his back, the UFC needs a Lesnar!

Nog with the title doesnt say the UFC has the best HW out there. Nog lost to Fedor. With big Tim holding the title, that doesnt do anything for them either, Tim lost to Couture!
The UFC would love for Lesnar to beat Mir, beat Arlovsky in his last fight in the UFC, which i think Lesnar matches up better with AA than he doea Mir. Then Lesnar beats Nog in Mpls at the target center. Lesnar then could be dubbed to be the best at HW by the UFC. And i do believe the UFC would do a cross promotion with Lesnar Vs Fedor if he did get the title from Nog! I think Lesnar creates alot of problems for a small Fedor! Thats if Lesnar does indeed develop quickly.

Dude,

Rogan kills Mir when it comes to commintating. If you think different your absolutly entitled to your opinion. But I think Rogan does everything you explained above and MORE. He has more personality. I gained all respect for Rogan when the little Boxing V. MMA war was getting hot. Rogan went on ESPN and defended MMA against some Boxing comintator. Was pretty funny actually. But Rogan = Better than Mir

Rogan just kills me with his over the top excited utterances and outbursts. And I think the majority of the time when he’s calling ground action he’s guessing. Hence, one of the constants in the Rogan Drinking Game is “He’s got it locked in . . . it’s deep . . . he lost it.” When Mir says someone is about to get tapped or about to escape he’s on the money every time.

I want you all to to remember right now when Quinton Rampage Jackson fought Ricardo Arona, remember when Arona had him in that triangle choke? remember what Rampage did to him? if you think that was brutal, just wait till Mir tries a submission on Brock…Brock is a Psychotic Insane M.therf.ker!!

Rogan is the best color guy, he does a great job breaking down both the ground and standup game! Far and away better than anyone else.

He also brings the most excitement to the event.

Mir is the 2nd best out there i like his color commentating alot.

Both are better then Bas!

Mir Is much more descriptive and knowledgable than Goldberg and Rogan. When a new MMA fan watches the WEC they get a pretty good idea of what is going on. Just because he doesn’t have the smoothness of a 20 year career comedian doesn’t mean he is not good with MMA commentating.

Well if you call Brock getting shoulderlocked in less then one minute living up to the hype then it should be a good fight.

Rogans “over the top” descriptions are great. Theyre to be taken with a grain of salt. the guy knows what hes talking about and brings excitement, intelligence and levity to the broadcast.
the role goldy plays has outlived its usefulness. we no longer need an announcer to tell us about the most basic of the components of fighting…getting rid of this is essential to the sports maturation.
Imagine watching football and having Kevin Harlan or Ron Pitts or somebody painfully explaining what a handoff was, or that a quarterback is maybe a better passer than a punter…
btw, my BJJ coach has been rolling with Brock at MMAA and says hes gonna surprise people on the ground. I think he will power out of an armbar from guard and pound Mir out in round one.

You clearly don’t know Brock if you think a Shoulder Lock is going to stop him, Mir would need to be 3x as strong a him to hold on to that lock..

I like Joe Rogan as an announcer. With that said, I believe that Frank Mir is the better play by play commentator. I can’t think of the right word, but there is the color commentator who is always the dumb ass with the corny 1 liner (Goldy) and then the ‘play by play’ commentator. What is that commentator called in MMA, I don’t recall.

Frank Mir has far more training in BJJ than Joe Rogan, so he has more knowledge. I LOVE listening to Mir announce the WEC matches, he is always right on.

And you are judging all of this based upon 1 fight? Plus it was prerecorded. The BJJ guy will always say that technique will beat strength. What’s so bad about that? All Tommy Spears did offensively in that match was push Sindy Silva against the cage, try to hold his arms and throw a couple of footstomps. Then he slammed him and GnP’d him. Would you prefer that he had announced it like:

“Tommy Spears! You all know him, he was in TUF 7 and fought in the finals. He’s a strong farm boy. Farm boy’s overcome technique every time. Its just a matter of time before he wins. Lets just watch while I keep quite.”

I like Mir I want him to win this fight and one day fight for the title, after everything he went through to be fighting again is something that not a lot of fighters would do.I know he is goona win this fight. I dont see why not? As far as comparing him to Joe Rogan you have to be out of your mind to do that.

Good point, I think that happens with roegan frequently because hes watching the actual fight which I dont blame one bit for doing. Have you ever seen dana watch the fights cage side his eyes are glued on a 10 in tv screen when you watch on the monitor it give you a second vantige pt to see if those submissions are locked up or have no chance

Mir (probably after Randy) is the most knowledgeable fighter in the UFC. He would be an amazing instructor.

I really think he is going to submit Lesnar very quickly.

Bring on Mir v Arlovski.

I agree, Goldie’s gotta go. His comments are repetitive and useless and Rogan just ignores him a lot of the time.

Mir mumbles and stumbles over his words more than he gives commentary. Talk about repeating phrases, Frank Mir uses the same lines constantly. When he’s on camera he looks like a deer caught in headlights, and can’t even get a sentence out without giggling like a little school girl.
JOE ROGAN over Frank Mir commentating any day of the week. Stick to fighting Frank.

The fight will definitely be interesting. Mir is on the up and up, but in this fight I really think everyone is forgetting about Lesnar’s wrestling ability and looking at him like he’s still in the employment of Vince McMahon. Lesnar wins the fight, on the ground.
