UFC 80..it’s tuff to look this card and think they actually feel this is good card?? Yeah Sure.

BJ..is BJ but this whole card..makes the other organizations look like they’re in the same league as the ufc.

There are so many top tier fighters in the UFC now that you would think they could start stacking these cards. The price of the PPV’s went up and so should the talent on the cards. UFC 79 was well worth the money and now they give us this crap!

That is a pretty terrible card. I’m actually going, and the Q&A is almost more of a draw than the actual event…

Still, it’s not as bad as 83 is shaping up to be.

I dont think it will be all that bad there is no hype but the ttle fight will be great and gonzaga is always good to watch but other then that the card is a lil weak i mean the marcus davis fight might be ok and im not a fan of lambert. but i will still watch it because i am an mma fan and you never know what might happen it could turn out to be a great night i would hate to miss it cause there was only 2 fights i thought would be good

The problem with this card and the cards from every other event they hold in England is that, no offense ToeLock, they load up with all these Euro fighters, most of whom are not close to the same caliber of fighters as we get on U.S. cards. Bisping is hands down the best Euro fighter on the UFC roster, and how many people have a favorable opinion of him or his skills right now? Or favourable, for our English and Irish posters. :)

its true..its a bit of a crap card - im only wanting to see BJ fight and Gonzaga and werdum fight - i think GG gonna come in too confident as hes the heavier guy this time round - but i think/hope he gets tapped out

The fight card is ok at best, right close to UFC 78. I like the Gouveia match up. Also Marcus Davis and Kendall are fun to watch. The undercard just destroys the entire card.

This card isn’t THAT bad…there’s lil hype about here in the states because it’s taking place in Europe for one…combine that with all the ish with Sherk and the LW title. I’ll prolly catch this one at a bar or something.

SAM STOUT
Why oh Why is He not on the Main Card, he puts fans in the sit’s, he has a hilarious personality, and has a rock hard jaw with bricks on his wrists.
Man if Sam cuts through Eklund
Maybe Stout vs Fisher III
Live in MOntreal
Oh Shit I get tingles

Myself i cant wait til ufc 80, i think Penn will be too much for Stevenson, and I also have Gonzaga for a win. I think this may just seem like less of a card because of the last one. But for me, I have been watching the Sherk case since it started and I am excited to see who wins this fight and will fight Sherk. Especially since the winner and Sherk may fight in Canada, which i will be attending with ringside seats. So this is definetly a build up for that. I for one will definetly be tuning in, as always.

This card isnt that bad i think the lack of hype here is whats bringing it down a notch but still some damn good fighters on this card. The events with less hype usually turn out to be the great fights ya missed cuz it looked like dogsh1t on paper. I know thats happened to alot of people including me so now they watch no matter who’s on the card lol.

Such terrible cards they have in the UK… You know like “Rampage VS Dan Henderson” yeah pretty low profile fight… What a load of crap… That London card was awesome, tons of good fights… Plus I managed to blag my way right to the front of the cage!! :D

the card lacks star quality

looks more like a fight night card

it needed at least one more big name fighter on it

even someone like crocop would do

i guess it could be good news for me as theres a chance the tickets will be up for grabs on the cheap on ebay close to the event from touts who got their fingers burnt

it will be a sell out and the building is likely to be full as uk fans arent exactly spoilt fot choice when it comes to mma

this card is better than free tickets to an entire year of cage rage

id still go if i could get ringside for say £100 instead of the £300 it would of been for the rampage henderson card in london… dont think id pay $600 for the good seats tho

would rather save my cash and go to vegas to see an event where gsp or chuck is headlining

Penn and Stevenson do not deserve to be fighting for the title. There are far better lightweight fighters in the division. This card sucks. The title match should be Edger vs. Huerta.

I’m probably going to be skipping this card. I do want to see the Penn v. Stevenson fight, but one fight doesn’t make it worth $40. I like Gonzaga, but the rest of the fights should be a fight night card, not a PPV event.

Translation (from Portuguese to English) by MMA-Europe.net
Interview by “Portal da Luta” (Brazil)

Vitor Belfort is quite comfortable in the new training center, created by Rodrigo Minotauro, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While he was training hard in a big octagon, under the orders of master Amaury Bitetti and Luiz Alves, Belfort was quite happy and confident about his new “home”.

Presently Cage Rage champion, the fighter opened his mouth about his unsatisfaction towards the company. About the chanced of returning to the UFC, Vitor is quite confident

You’re now officially training at Minotauro’s center, right?
Yes, I am training here with the team.

But are you just training? Who are you representing now?
No, I am really on the team and I’ll represent it. I don’t know what the team name is, it’ll be revealed soon.

You are the Cage Rage champion. How’s your relation with the organization?
I’m very upset with Cage Rage. My belt, for instance, I haven’t received it yet. I was told that it was retained on the British border, but I think they didn’t even make it. No one even called me about this.

Do you believe that the UFC will call you?
Things just happen when we really want. It’s on their hands. My will is to return to the UFC and regain my legacy. I think it’ll happen.

But was there any contact?
They asked me if I was ready to fight in April, I’m just waiting for Dana.

What about Lyoto, your former partner at Black House? He’s doing well in the UFC. Do you think he can get the belt?
He has all the chances to get. He’s fighting very well.

UFC 80 Results:

Penn via submission (rear naked choke) round 2
Gonzaga via TKO (Strikes) round 2
Grove via TKO (strikes) round 1
Davis via decision but an entertaining decision
Gouveia via submission (arm bar from the guard) round 3…This will be an entertaining fight, possibly fight of the night!

If I was the UFC, I would give Vitor 1 last shot at returning to the fighter he once was. I would sign him to no more then a 2 fight contract, in which he would have to prove to be the Nasty Vitor, not the Boring Vitor in order to get a contract extension. After all, Vitor Belfort is a future UFC Hall of Fame inductee and is no where near being to old to compete. I would give him the 2 fight contract and throw him in there against some beasts. Let him warm up against Soukodjou (who will look much better next time when the Octagon jitters are gone) and if Vitor can beat Sokoudjoou, I would throw him in there against wanderlei, who I am sure is itching to avenge probably the worst loss of his career. Win or Loose those 2 fights, I would only extend his contract if he is exciting in those performances because the biggest Vitor fans would have to admit that he hasn’t been an exciting fighter in a long time. I think the biggest obstacle for Vitor is he needs to conquer his mental deamons. If his head is in the right place, I think he has a legit shot at returning to his Scary self. Camp Noguerra is as great a place as any to get him in Physical and more importantly MENTAL shape to try and make a succesful, but more important EXCITING return to the Octagon.

It’s an OK card, I think it’s because is in Europe that the hype is so low, just like UFC 72. Also UFC 79 was such a great card that UFC 80 can’t keep up with it.

Can’t wait for UFC 82!!!!!!!!!

The card is boring. I hope we get it free in the US. It also pisses me off the prices are going up. The cards better get a helluva lot better if I’m going to pay $45-$50. Give us a break Dana.

gsp reminds me so much of belfort, they where both unstopable and then boom!!! biggest upsets in UFC history (Couture beating Vitor & Serra beating GSP). looks like GSP is refocused and looking better than ever, hopefully Vitor can return and get his confidence back he could easily beat on anybody in the LHW division he could rematch Ortiz, Silva, Liddell, then fight all the new bees.

I think I’m with ya guys on the Hooters team. I’m not paying for this PPV buy at home with this card being so weak. When is CRO COP gonna get in the cage again and lose?

I’ll be pulling back on some Budweiser pitchers staring at my local hooters girls. it sucks now at hooters because a lot of them wear the “pussy pouch” to hold things like pens, lip gloss, tampons, and the pad to write down how many chicken wings you want. It blocks the shot of the camel toe and when everything is said and done…that’s the only reason pervs like myself go there.

cheers!!

gsp reminds me so much of belfort, they where both unstopable and then boom!!! biggest upsets in UFC history (Couture beating Vitor & Serra beating GSP). looks like GSP is refocused and looking better than ever, hopefully Vitor can return and get his confidence back he could easily beat on anybody in the LHW division he could rematch Ortiz, Silva, Liddell, then fight all the new bees.
I’m Vitor Fan..and he still gives us so good match ups in the LHW division..who wouldn’t want to see.

Vitor vs Wandy part 2

Vitor vs Chuck part 2

Vitor vs Tito part 2

Myself i cant wait til ufc 80, i think Penn will be too much for Stevenson, and I also have Gonzaga for a win. I think this may just seem like less of a card because of the last one. But for me, I have been watching the Sherk case since it started and I am excited to see who wins this fight and will fight Sherk. Especially since the winner and Sherk may fight in Canada, which i will be attending with ringside seats. So this is definetly a build up for that. I for one will definetly be tuning in, as always.
i cant see the ufc having 2 title fight in april they would want to save one for another main event maybe ufc 85
yea they just updated that, i didnt think it was going to happen either, regardless the canadian card is shaping up well.

Why wasn’t BJ kicked out of the UFC for holding on to the rear naked choke longer than he had to on Jens Pulver. Was Babaloo more expendable ?

i’d rather watch the undercard then most of the main event card. there is only 2 fights on the main event card i really care about watching & thats penn vs stevenson & grove vs rivera. take out the davis vs liaudin & the lambert vs gouveia and put in lee vs sakara & stout vs eklund i’d rather watch those fights i also would like to watch kelly vs taylor but not as much.

How can anyone expect to see Spencer Fisher vs. Sam stout III in April’s Canadian card when Spencer is already booked to fight Marcus Arelio in April’s Ultimate Fight Night which is followed by the first episode of TUF 7 Rampage vs. Forrest?

Recent Interview with former UFC Champion and current Cage Rage LHW champion Vitor Belfort:

Phil….i know you post a lot…and no disrespect, but Vitor?…be realistic…he has a great -hilight- reel…(my bad on the spelling)..however….he is easily beatable….frustrate him…get over his surges…take him down…hit him back…he is dreadful when problems come his way..i agree I would want to see those fights you have listed…but I don’t know if Vitor could get past Soukodjou…his first fight was a fluke…not unlike a lot of first timers in the UFC….hope you respond to this…I hope Vitor comes back and fights Rashad? Forrest? Jardine? Why not Sean Salmon…add to his fast handed K.O.’s…

oh and p.s. saying Vitor could fight chuck is funny…………..hope that is on spike so i don’t get charged!

Good God comparing him to GSP is silly…for starters…they fight completely different…GSP relies on kickboxing followed by a ton of skills(ground, clinch, judo, mma in general)…Vitor is based on quick hands and good stand up…above average ground…and unless i missed something..average judo. Poor comparison on your part…GSP is the future…Vitor is the past

Werdum with a big win. It’s ironic that he’s probably ahead of Arlovski now in the HW pecking order. I say Werdum vs. Kongo for the next title shot. What’s next for Gonzaga now? Vera?

Wow, that fight really redeems Werdum from his previous fight with AA.

If Penn/Stevenson ends by submission that makes it submission of the night by default!
