Mania’
UFC.com still has Mir/Lesnar listed as the main event and Nog/Sylvia as co-main event.
Is this official???
or do they just have them listed different this time??
God I soo wanna see this man bounce back to his previous - bike crash self. Total class act, total bright spot for a sport that is filled with shit talking wanna be tough guys.
Man his wife is fugging HOT too!
Sick kicks…
i just cant see mir beating brock at all he is to good of a wrestler and being hit with hands the size of the wouldn’t be a stroll in the park the japanes fighter didnt want to no after a little bit of ground and pound neither will mir
I see Frank Mir winning this match..this is a real bad fight for the 1-0 Brock..He comes across very level headed..and made some good points about MMA/training/teaching.
Off the sub: This is one funny dude.

I think it’ll defo be a submission win for Mir
Triangle choke as Lesnar looks to posture up
Lesnar isn’t ready for the submission side of MMA
Once he gets tapped, then he’ll learn

I agree but disagree.
Lesnar is very strong. Much stronger then Mir, and Mir is a very big strong HW fighter.
IMO Lesnar will probably rush Mir and take him down. Mir will have to weather the storm as Lesnar pounds down on him with a barriage of punches, elbows and hammer-fists. Then Lesnar is going to try and pass gaurd and Mir will Sub him. Or They will clinch up and Mir will get a sweep or something and land on top getting the take down himself and Submitting Lesnar after a quick scramble…
…..bottom line is, I think Lesnar will be to agressive, and Frank will work his bjj and Submit Lesnar..
If Lesnar wins it will be cause Mir could not “weather the storm” and Brock bangs him out..(which could happen. Thats the sport)
But I have Mir winning via Submission late 1st round or early 2nd.
Dude Frank Mir is gonna destroy Lesnar. I just re watched the Mir Vera fight last night. Frank Mir’s standup is gotten much better. Yeah he got clipped by Vera but before that he had perfect striking and striking defense. I think we will see Mir rise up back to champion soon. Plus its perfect marketing. You know the UFC is pushing for Silva to take the title and then have a Mir Sylvia rematch. When situations like this happen sometimesI feel like the ref will favor one fighter then the other. Ill be watching to see if the ref or judges favor Sylvia at UFC 81.
Thats my conspiracy theory.
Sadly, I think it’s going to be an incredibly boring decision win for Lesnar. “Stagger-Lee” inadvertently explains why: “Lesnar is going to try and pass guard . . . .” No, he won’t. Lesnar will follow the game plan we’ve seen over and over again from inexperienced wrestlers. He’ll rush Mir for a takedown (which he’ll get at will), lay in Mir’s guard, get mostly tied up, but do enough damage to draw some blood and take a 30-27 decision. Mir will work some subs, but Lesnar’s size and strength are natural defenses from triangle chokes and armbars, only serving to gas Mir early (blame the donuts on Sundays). I have a bad feeling that this fight will leave Mir with one more loss on his record and Lesnar will fail to impress anyone, making Dana White and all the fans very unhappy. But hey, I hope on wrong - Mir by gogoplata.
I still can’t believe that this is being billed as the main event??
Come on, a washed up former champ vs a rookie is not a bigger fight than a huge inter organisation clash for the heavyweight strap!
Wonder what Tim and Nog think about the Big Boss Man or whoever he is stealing their limelight.
Mir is probably one of the more well spoken UFC fighters out there, so no matter what he is talking about it sounds good. Probably has to do with him being the comentator for the WEC.

I was thinking since Lesnar has been training MMa for at least a year now he will want to show that he has learned something. So I was thinking(just like you “Hyde”) that Lesnar can take him down “at will”, and will.
But unlike you IMO I would think after pounding on Mir for a while he will try to show the fans he is a real MMa fighter and start trying ground moves like trying to get side mount or “pass Mir’s gaurd, and thats when(agian imo) Mir will Submit him with something like a triangle choke?
But then agian’ Lesnar could just take him down and TKO a win quick time like some people think??..who knows? It’s an unpredictable sport..
But like I said, I like Mir in this fight via submission late 1st or early 2nd round.
None off them are gonna be champions…this fight is not interesting.Bring back Arlovski…and Randy…and at last FEDOR.
Even though Mir hasn’t been the same in most recent years, he is a very humble fighter that i can respect.
ON the other hand BRock Lesner is coming out here talking shit about our fighters. I guess he thinks he’s going to do something that no one has ever seen in this sport.

I agree. I thought they would start him off with somebody a little easier to pound out, not one of the two or three best HW submission artists in the world. Brock is going to really push the pace, so I think it’s going t be a pretty exciting fight and be a big boost to the winner.
brock is just to strong..mir is done anyway.i hope he is ready for another motor cycle crash..

Mir by gogoplata.[/quote]
Well choking Brock out with your shin would be a somewhat of a surprise.
the hard part about the choke is Brock’s neck. there really isn’t anything there to choke. its funny but its kinda true. his neck is just solid shoulder pretty much. kind of like trying to choke out matt hughes for instance. a lot of fighters say its really hard to choke a man like that. but we’ll see. lets hope for an exciting fight regardless.

Just curious, who are the other guys you are thinking of? Arlovski? Ricco Rodriguez?

As a highly decorated wrestler, Lesnar is naturally going to take the fight to the ground where Mir is one of the best in the world. I just thought was a curious match to give him right out of the gate. Maybe someone like Hardonk, who has no ground game, or McCully who isn’t strong enough or good enough to hold Brock down for 15 minutes.

I would hope so, but wins are so tough in the UFC, especially for new fighters. Unfortunately, I think Lesnar will settle for a boring lay-and-pray win (if he can’t get a hurried TKO with Mir on his back) than risk getting caught. It’s the Tim Sylvia “fight to not lose” style. But like I said, I hope I’m wrong. I’d like to see Mir win, but if Lesnar gets the victory, I hope he shows that he’s becoming well rounded in the sport.
hahaha imagine Lesnar vs McCully, that would be a beat down. I hate that guy.
I hope Mir wins but if not I hope AA is still around to stuff a Lesnar takedown attempt and then KTFO him.
Let’s see what Brock’s like now that he’s off the ‘roids. Tim Sylvia doesn’t rate him. Says he doesn’t like to get hit and his striking isn’t too hot. BJM is going with Mir on this one too. I wonder.
I’d love to see Crocop blast him with a low leg kick and see how he’d react.
To be honest I’m really just worried that Brock is going to be a big overwhelming wrestler who does a Sherk job on the HW division. What Sherk does is not really martial arts imo.

agreed.
I really think Lesnar will be exposed here. I see Mir winning by strikes or submission (Ankle lock - ala Tank)

Completely agree.
thanks for the vid!
Mir is so well spoken that I can’t help but to really like him. I hope he pulls out the win against Lesnar and gets back on the path to the belt.
First he quit the WWE, then he quit football after refusing to play in NFL Europe, and now Brock wants to be a MMA superstar?
Based on his past resume, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he ends up losing to Mir and quitting from MMA altogether.
Oh well, another fight, another dollar for the UFC.
After the UFC, maybe Brock can face Bob Sapp in Japan. All the Japanese, Transformers and Robotech fans would love to see a match up between those two freaks.
Or perhaps he’ll beat Mir with his Patented F-5 finishing move ( a la WWE) to prove his naysayers wrong?
i believe that frank’s got too much experience although i am generally for the younger/hungrier fighters. i do see brock taking him down b/c i don’t see his stand up being as good. i think brock will lose faith when frank dodges a lot of his punches and try to take him down but if frank gets on top i’ll bet that brock loses composure and gives up his back. then it’s a choke finale. red face wwe man and all.
Brock Lesnar is going to kill frank mir. Hands down speed, power, and strenth all go to brock. Pick his ass up slam him and punch his teeth in.
