Tito Ortiz the apprentice

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz will appear on the premiere episode of “The Celebrity Apprentice” this evening (January 3) on the NBC network at 9 p.m. ET.

“The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” will join 13 other celebrities such as KISS frontman Gene Simmons and retired professional boxing champion Lennox Lewis in the primetime slot, “competing in business-driven tasks around New York City … [to raise] money and awareness for their respective causes.”

That’s right, contestants on season seven will not be working toward a position with Donald Trump. Instead, the motley crew will participate on the show in the names of certain charities.

Here’s more:

“Contestants will not be vying for a job with Donald Trump, but the business-savvy celebrity contestants will be working towards a greater goal — as they raise over a million dollars for their various charities throughout the season. Not only will the final winner be crowned the first ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ but he or she will also have the honor of delivering a $250,000 bonus check to their designated charity.”

For more on the new twist this season click here. And to check out a video of Ortiz promoting himself on the program go here.

This should be good. Either that or really, really painful to watch. Tune-in.

Bash Tito all you want (because there are a lot of haters on here and elsewhere) but he does a ton of charity work. Granted, this is also a publicity deal for him, but the end result is positive — just like all those USO tours and half the other shit we probably don’t hear about.

I’m going to love this. Just shows he has nothing better to do. But its for a good cause I wonder which charity he will be representing.

There really isn’t much on tv these days with the writer’s strike. So I’ll be tuning in at 9 to watch.

Whenever Tito Ortiz does get eliminated from the show, and they are in the boardroom and Donald Trump says “Tito, YOUR’RE FIRED!”, Trump will then look into the camera as in zooms in and say “Hey Dana, don’t you wish you had the balls to say that!”

I think tito will go to the final few contestants you can tell he is good with people and has good communication skills just from watching tuf 3 all those guys reepected tito and thought he was a great coach

If you click on the ‘Celebrities’ link it takes you to Tito’s Bio.

It actually says he is currently preparing for a major fight scheduled for December 30th at the MGM Grand Las Vegas against UFC World Light Heavyweight Champion, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell in UFC 66.

How old is that?????

Thanks PhilQNY!!!

I also agree with the people saying that Tito may very well likely get pretty far into the competition. Like dia mette said above, Tito has excellent people skills, just look at how the fighters on TUF 3 just gravitated toward him. Plus look at how many of those fighters from that show ended up going out to Big Bear to continue to train with Tito.

Tito has a bad rep with the fans because he ducks the tough competition and always seems to have an excuse when he loses. I have nothing wrong with him talking smack before the fight – its all hype which lead to more PPV buys which leads to more money. Then after the fight, Tito will ‘appologize’ to the other fighter (in most cases) and admit that he was just saying all that stuff to sell the fight. If seen in the street, minus Jenna, Tito would probably be one of the most approachable guys in the UFC.

has anybody gone to the show’s website? check the start to his bio:

“Professional wrestler, Tito Ortiz, is one of the most popular — and most controversial — martial arts competitors in the world. Ortiz returned victoriously to UFC competition in April 2006 at age 31 and is currently preparing for a major fight scheduled for December 30th at the MGM Grand Las Vegas against UFC World Light Heavyweight Champion, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell in UFC 66.”

first its from way back, second its starts by calling him a profesional wrestler. geeez

The only reason why Tito has so many haters out there is because Dana White created that persona. Think about this: Why would Dana White spend a $hitload of money trying to show his side of the story of the “BEEF” when he and Tito were supposed to have that boxing match a few years back. Tito didn’t even have his own special show to show his side of the story. Don’t get me wrong wrong, I think Dana White has done more Positive for the UFC than Negative, but don’t hate Tito Ortiz because of the way the UFC portrays him. He’s smart and talented enough to make $$$$ without fighting.

dana owes me an hour of my life back i watched that show thinking were going to see a fight and all it was was dana taking a cheap shot at tito.they actually spent money making that shit and airing it for what just to make tito look bad they could have made it a half hour or thrown it on a different show and gave it less than 5 minuters to explain what happened instead of dragging it on for a hour when they knew there was no fight at the end.i am not a tito fan a thought when he was on top he was disrespectful to his oppents and made lots of excuses,i do hate him alot less now i think he has grown up alot he will give almost anyone a tuff fight but i dout he will ever be champ again.

Omarosa will stay on (even though she should have been fired last night) because Trump wants people to tune in to see when the bitch will finally get fired. I predict she’ll be in the final 6 or so because everyone will be hooked or quit watching by then.

Not much out of Tito last night. It’s clear a small few of them will be the talkers/central figures/eye of the storm. It should be a good show, I’m thinking.
