Look at all of Wandy’s fights..in Brazil..Japan..he has never put on those long shorts..Wandy has a certain look to him when he is about to fight..he didn’t look the par when he fought chuck..IMO.

Chuck was the better fighter on decemeber 29th. But that wasn’t the Wandy I see dominate pride’s elite. end of story..I didn’t see Wandy fight…Wandy’s fight..it was inthe wrist thing he does..the shorts..the look in his eyes..everything spelled to me at the moment of truth..it was Chucks night.

Alright guys I’m going to be honest with you… Pride fighters are rarely on the UFC level. We’ve said it for a long time, and I suspect that no one will believe it until Randy beats Fedor. I’m not trying to diss the Pride fighters, I’m just trying to help you Pridemaniacs realize the truth. It would be a lot easier to just accept that Cro Cop will never hold the UFC belt, Shogun is not the future of MMA, and Fedor was not the greatest fighter alive.

So you ask, “why are the pride fighters getting beat down?” and there are probably many answers. Rampage suggested that Shogun and Wanderlei were roided out over in Japan, but no one really knows. I think that Cro Cop has a terrible style for fighting in a cage, and just needs to be more well rounded. You should anticipate for Minotauro to get dominated in his upcoming title match. Nogueria has skills, but most people don’t realize what an animal Tim Sylvia is.

The UFC fighters are the greatest hand-to-hand fighters on the planet, hands down.

I would have to say that it was the same Wanderlei, but he was just so OBSESSED with Knocking Out Chuck Liddell with what Chuck Liddell does best - stand and punch. In all of Wanderlei’s previous fights, he would show a wide array of skills even if the fight stayed standing. Not only would he punch, but he also has possibly the best knees in all of MMA. Silva also has great kicks in his arsenal - especially to the legs and body.

about Wanderlei Silva. Shogun was a fat bastard in the UFC that got completely gassed in 4 minutes. Every other time Shogun has fought, he was the most ruthless fighter - just ask Rampage. And for Cro Cop, I was never really a big fan of his. Before his first two fights in the UFC, he trained in a ring, not a cage.

PS. In the past, I was always a “UFC Guy”. Then I ordered the last 4 or 5 PRIDE PPV’s after religously watching the PRIDE show they had on the Fox Sports Network that showed older fights once my cable provider started carrying that channel. So I guess I not a “UFC Guy” or a “PRIDE Guy”, rather a “MMA Guy”.

I always thought that the world best fighters were split amongst the two for the most part. I never thought that one would nearly dominate the other. However, I do still think that if PRIDE bought out the UFC and the UFC fighters had to move to Japan and fight under all of their rules and regulations, the PRIDE fighters would have nearly dominated the UFC fighters. Plus keep in mind that when the purchase was made, they only aquired like what 3% of the PRIDE roster. If PRIDE bought the UFC and signed only 3% of its fighters, I wouldn’t expect them to dominate in PRIDE. Reference Chuck vs Rampage 1. And also keep in mind that everyone claims that Rampage sucked back then because he was only training half-assed, and that’s why he lost to Silva twice and if Rampage and Silva were to fight again, Rampage would win. So if Rampage was only half of what he is today back then, how did he demolish Chuck like that? Still to this day, no one has beat down Chuck like Rampage did in the PRIDE ring.

Rampage and Anderson are both pride guys in my book. The ufc has great talent, like pride. with the only differences. U.S/Japan Cage/Ring..promotions etc..I don’t think the greatest fighter’s on the PLANET are in the ufc. I mean the planet is a big place. I’m sure in some counrty I can find a fighter to beat up a Rashad Evans, Bisping, Timmy, Kos..etc..the ufc is the biggest and and very well marketed for ufc fighters. MMA is global.

Thats just being irrational. Chuck won and you know it, but you’re pissed off because one of your favorite fighters got his ass kicked. Wanderlei is a great fighter but Chuck proved that he is the better man. It was clear that Chuck won the fight, and Wanderlei didn’t knock him down twice like you said. One time it was a clear slip and another time it was a hard shot that caused him to trip. He was never hurt badly. Wanderlei on the other hand was nearly finished on several occasions.

If he was a more marketable fighter, he’d have a title shot already. I think he’d beat Forrest Griffen pretty easily. Dare I say that he’d beat Rampage too. Call me crazy, but, it was that same craziness that made people feel that Rich Franklin would destroy some virtual unknown new comming UFC fighter named Anderson Silva. But, people that have been watching the fight game knew all along that Silva was a threat.

I’m not saying Machida would crush Rampage like Silva vs. Franklin. But I am saying that Machida is probably the smartest technical fighter in the UFC, Blackhouse trained, and deserves a title shot.

i actually won money on chuck beating wandy, but i wasnt totally happy with the fight. why didnt wandi throw any knees, lots of kicks, or pounce on chuck when he went down. wandi was never that mobile but everyone would agree that he looked stationary fighting chuck that night.

if you watch the fight again, he totally twists his ankle right before he settles in his corner after entering the octagon. and he only threw 2 kicks with that leg the whole fight. i wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Get used to it, you’ll hear it with Nog all the way to Fedor(if he ever fights Randy). There are a bunch of guys who for some reason always beleived the Pride fighters were the elite and UFC fighters were second tier. When anyone said , they believed the opposite, they were laughed at and considered newbies that only watched UFC. Well ,it looks like those so called NEWBIES , maybe watched just as much Pride as they did UFC and they were a little more observant of maybe not as biased. After having to listen to these guys for the past few years ,it look like they get the last laugh. There aren’t many here, but Sherdog is FULL of them (the Pride experts).

Well each time Chuck went down I noticed that Chuck was really quick jumping back up and Wandi was to far away to jump on him, I didn’t notice the ankle thing though.

You forgot to mention Chucks cardio was only a 1/4 of what it is now (like when he fought Randy the first time) and you forgot to mention how Chuck WON his other TWO fights when he was over in Japan. Rampage and A. Silva are proof that great MMA (Ring , cage …) fighter can (and should be able to) adapt to a few different rules, your theory is busted. Tito and BJ fought in pride and adapted quite well.

In baseball they can hit the ball alot farther. In MMA they can cave your head in alot more. See the difference. If you let everyone juice ,it’s not fair to the guys who would rather work harder and stay natural, than die at 55 years old(if not sooner) from a life of steroid abuse.

I could agree with that to a point because a UFC fighter would have to take alot more into consideration when going into a pride fight because they alow alot more than the UFC does, but I think UFC fighters are better trained. IMO
