I think we’d all have to be realistic and mature enough to know that even if you have an overall dislike of a fighter, it would be juvenile to dismiss everything that fighter had to say. While I don’t have any respect for either Phil Baroni or Sean Sherk, their complaints about the CSAC are valid. They could have been baseline clean, and the CSAC would have still found a way to screw up their tests.

Fedor’s choice to beat the crap out of a novelty fighter like Hong Man Choi may be a “What the Blessed Fuck Were You Thinking?” choice, but then again after telling Lex Luthor -err… Dana White- to take his offer and shove it up his ringpiece, he may be saying that he doesn’t give a dry fuck about what anybody else thinks.

After Pride imploded and after the UFC wasn’t able to make the Liddell-Silva fight happen when it was supposed to happen, a lot of time and speculation hit the fan. It didn’t have nearly the impact it could have had, but it still happened. The Emelianenko-Couture fight could still happen, but then again we might see Kazushi Sakuraba fight Rickson Gracie soon.

Lets not forget, back when Tim was Champ, Fedor was trying to do a cross promo fight against Sylvia but the Dana and Sylvia are the ones that declined the offer. I’ve read some of your posts about Fedor on other threads. I don’t think you’re being objective. I think anyone who questions Fedor’s ability or heart isn’t being fair. Fedor is as talented as they come. But you have to admit that a fighter can’t be the best pound for pound, without fighting the best, which Fedor has not done for the last two years(excepting Mark Hunt). You’re being ridiculous. He should have signed the ridiculous contract that UFC presented him? If what Fedor says is true (and I’m sure you won’t believe it is, since you are obviously biased and will probably look for any opportunity to bury him), the UFC wanted full exclusivity (no Sambo, which you’ve already downplayed), an automatic contract renewal (for the same amount of money and for an undetermined amount of time) if Fedor remained undefeated (which he probably would have), and the ability to back out of the contract at any time for any reason. If even half of that is true, it’s ridiculous.

While I do agree that Fedor should be taking on more serious competition, to say that he should simply sign with the UFC “just because” is pretty much bullshit.

Also, talent “chasing him” around the world isn’t indicative of Fedor ducking anybody. It’s just a necessary evil because of contracts and politics.

Excuse me but when has Tim ever thrown an elbow? Can oyu imagine Fedor’s world class ground n pound with elbows added to it? Cro cop has no gound game, thats y the elbows affected him.

The Fedor/Couture fight will not be happening anytime soon. If Dana wants to get Fedor signed he will have to wait until M1 bankrupt and no longer viable therefore making the fight contracts null and void. Then the UFC will be the only one with enough scratch to sign the Russian. So for the UFC and M1 to do a cross-promotional show or just a loan would be counterproductive to that goal.

Just settle in folks, it’s going to be a while before we see Fedor in the Octagon.

In my opinion Randy should be considered # 1 due to the manner the was able to TOTALLY Dominate TIM SYLVIA, who most people don’t like but have to understand he defended that belt very well. Not only that, He also DoMInated NAPAO, a bigger physically stronger man who devastated Mirko on the ground and on top and who was ranked #3 in Pride.
Randy is number one and it’s due to the depth of his recent opposition.

I would’ve said Randy was the best. He had the best 2007 of any heavyweight. As he sits out though, he loses his position and momentum. Personally, I think Gonzaga is the best heavyweight outside of Randy. I think Randy and Gonzaga could beat Fedor.

I’m not bashing Fedor. I like Fedor a lot. I like how he fights, I like his humility, and I like the respect he shows his competition. He’s a great fighter, but he chose loyalty to his team and country over status. I can respect that. But, being considered a top fighter must be earned. He has done nothing to earn that status since his fight with Crocop in 2005.

Hey I was just giving a ruff number..my point being almost all of the top ranked Hw’s..fight and/ or have contract pending with the ufc..thx for helping me point that out.

Dude…what controversy? Its only a contoversy hear in the USA. U think Fedor cares what us American fans have to say (espcially since we are the most ignorrant sport fans in the world). Andrei Arlovski - Again, may be making an exit from the UFC soon. With one fight left on his contract the negotiations have come to a standstill.
These two, along with Tim, are by far the biggest draws in the UFC HW division when talent levels and matchups with Fedor are concerned. If they leave, then the UFC HW division is back to the way it was.

Monson was just in the right place at the right time. And he was a part of one of the most boring fights in UFC history.

I would’ve said Randy was the best. He had the best 2007 of any heavyweight. As he sits out though, he loses his position and momentum. Personally, I think Gonzaga is the best heavyweight outside of Randy. I think Randy and Gonzaga could beat Fedor.

Tim dry humped his way to snoozefest decision wins over a mentally broken down Arlovski, a outsized Verra (who didnt fight for a whole year prior to that fight, and Monson.

Gonzaga beat a one trick pony cro cop and lost to Randy.

Verra has done nothing at heavyweight

Werdum’s UFC highlight was literally Bitch slapping Arlovski in the face

Noguerra beat Herring for the 3rd time ?(whoisnt even top 10)

Kongo has one decent win against Cro cop

Arlovski as talented as he is has broken down mentally, he was even gun shy when fightin werdum who’s stand up is non exsistent

Hunt lost to Fedor, Yoshida, he beat cro cop and an undersized wanderle

If Fedor has done nothing to deserve to be #1 HW in the world then who has? Lets be honest, the HW division is probaly the worst in the sport and the only people with a realistic shot at beating the Russian experiment are Barnett (who has ducked Fedor so far), Gonzaga, and Randy…..so if Fedor lost all those fight at worst Fedor would be ranked 4th in the world…Is that really terrible?

The only thing Im questioning is why everyone seems to think that all the talent as far as heavyweights go is in the ufc. I just said that the UFC currently has MORE, but clearly not all of it, and if Randy and Arlovski go, then the scales tip to outside of the UFC.

First of all, what makes American fans the most ignorant?
Secondly, did I miss the ceremony when Fedor was dubbed the MMA king? So, if Fedor fights cans the rest of his career, he holds the title as pound for pound king regardless? That’s foolish. In this line of work, it’s not what you have done, it’s what have you done lately. This rings true especially in MMA. This is a sport that’s growing exponentially. That means a lot more talent is entering the fold. Fedor can’t sit on his accomplishments. He needs to continue to prove himself. That’s life in the world of athletics.

This was such a talked about fight..especially when Saku beat Royler..and 3 other Gracies..but around that time his Son Rockson passed away..I’m sure his head was far from fighting. Now Rickson is 50 something and Saku is 40 something..even if these two masters never fight..I wouldn’t mind seeing them in a no gi grappling fight.
