Interesting to note here Liddell reveals that the light heavyweight title won’t be on the line until August 2008.
That will be almost one year (11 months) since Rampage Jackson competed against Dan Henderson at UFC 75: “Champion vs. Champion.”
Hmm …

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a matter of time until he gets his belt bak!!!
Man, i’m really interested to see how chuck does, how he acclimates now after this win. Curious how he will do now consistantly having to go against good competition, that is well rounded in striking as well.
I also hope Wandi comes back and messes some people up. People only do better after they get used to there surroundings, ( I know wandi has been in the UFC but it’s been a while). I wanna see him in the title mix before Chuck.
One thing I haven’t really seen discussed today is the reaction from Rampage after the results was announced. He was not happy. It’s safe to say he was rooting for Silva so he could get a shot at revenge. Just an observation.
chuck is so overrated…if it would have been 5 rouns he would have got ktfo
and why say chucks bak cause he won 1 fight shouldnt the dean of mean got the fight not overrated chucks…and shouldnt the announcers b bias…u could tell they were for danas girlfriend
in honesty chucks maybe maybe top 10 lw
i can’t believe their gonna “stall” this division again while we wait for the reality series to end …..

I think that might have been just an act, inside he was probaly happy chuck won. Who would Rampage rather fight lidell who he beat twice or silve who beat him quite easily twice.
On the other hand maybee rampage is not all about the lime light and having the belt and all the attention that goes with it, Maybee he is really competitive and truly wants to avenge his former losses, I think its the former

WTF you are a joke phatmac!! All fighters go through tough spells, my god he lost to Rampage and jardine, a guy that beat the guy that is fighting rampage for the title!! He just demolished wandi, no two ways about it!! I was making excuses for my man chuck after the jardine defeat, sounds like you are looking for reasons as to why wandi lost.
I said all along, chuck got caught by rampage, wouldnt happen like that again, and jardine was a crap fight for chuck lose/lose if you like!! I also said that chuck would come out different against wandi, reason being, there are rewards for beating wandi, plus it was a fight chuck wanted.
To say chuck is MAYBE top ten is ridiculous and you shouldnt be allowed to post comments with shit like that coming out your mouth!!
Its clear to me you are a hater!! Chuck looked great and punished wandi in the end, if it was a five rounder chuck would have finished it in the third instead of being cautious at the end! Get a grip of yourself and open your eyes.
I also hope wandi comes bak strong, lets not forget he hasnt fought in a while!!
the only thought going thru rampages head during the lidell/silva fight was damn that Silva is a tuf SOB
Oh ya and this thought also went thru rampages head to, If chuck lidell cant knock him out how the hell am i ganna knock him out

don’t worry.. dana white will set ‘wanda’ in front of page before he sees chuck.. reason? to trip his ass up. the majority of the fans would like to see chuck back with the belt a dana loves chuck for the huge pay per view draw he gives.. all of america loves ‘a great white hope’..
I agree with the first part of your comment, rampage did look pissed!! But its highly unlikely wandi will get a shot at rampage before chuck, plus you say he wants to trip rampage up??? No way! you say it like chuck hasnt fought anybody and that rampage wouldnt beat wandi now? first off phatmac seems to think liddell isnt top ten, he has beat almost all there is to beat except rampage (jardine)?) and now you think there is a vendetta?? cmon!
I seriously believe rampage has improved so much since the days he got his ass kicked by wandi. they will fight only after chuck takes the belt off rampage lol
enough with all the i told you so chuck’s awesomes. to me, it looks like chuck is taking his game to a new level. he did not look very impressive in his past i don’t know how many fights. the bigger reason he won these fights were because he had a style advantage over his opponents. his past opponents were all non-striking grappling/ground-oriented fighters that he was able to neutralize with his wrestling background (take-down defense) and own with his superior strikes. when he was faced with strikers, he folded (rampage twice, jardine). this is the best chuck lidell i have ever seen. he’s actually gaining initiative with his wrestling and his striking looks sharper than ever. so u chuck fans need to stop gloating because chuck was definitely overrated in the past. however i’m excited to see what he can bring to the table with his newfound motivation.

By the way i mentioned this in one of my other comments earlier, i didnt get a reply tho about his reaction, dont i get a prize?

If you’ll notice from looking back at the tape, Rampage was shaking his head to Dana White (who was walking past him), so yes, he probably did want to avenge his two loses to Wand, and a Wand win would have set that up. An really, he’s got a great record otherwise, why shouldn’t he?
However, Wand is MUCH better at fighting guys like Rampage, than Liddell. Obvious from the way he practically destroyed Rampage twice.

Yes he did look better than he has in a while, to say he folded against jardine is a bit harsh dont you think? If that is the route you are taking about styles striker/striker etc. Then rampage has shown his weaknesses against grapplers, does that mean he cant beat a grappler, or someone who ties him up?
i heard recently that you havent fought the right people in mma if you havent tasted defeat!! They are all top fighters, but i do agree chuck used more of his skills at the right time in this fight so fair play!! Hes still the man!!
chuck is still the man
bunch of jackasses wrote him off after rampage got a lucky puch and jardine ground out a good win in a fight that didnt embarass chuck by any means
chuck wanderlei was worth the wait and chuck stamped the point that hes still the man all over wanderleis head
shogun had better be worried
i feel a bit sorry for keith jardine as he is probably just as deserving of a title shot as forrest who is getting one he beat forrest
id like to see shogun chuck in late april / early may along with jardine vs maybe tito
then have the winners face off for a title shot with the winner meeting rampage/forrest
TUF seems to mess up title pictures and delay fights by 3-6 months which seems crazy as just like happened with serra and his injury can mean the champ doesnt fight for over a year
chucks afterparty would of put mayweathers to shame chuck will have been wooing strippers and college girls with his mad dance skillz

Rampage lost against two grapplers in his Pride days, sure. But I would make the same argument i just made for Chuck in that Rampage has upped his game in a major way since crossing over to the UFC. Rampage was not a complete fighter when he was in Japan. Not by a long shot. He’s getting there now. I’m putting Chuck in that same boat from what I saw in this last fight. Hopefully he will keep evolving.
And yeah, Chuck didn’t exactly get dominated or KO’d by Jardine, but he did fold. He lost. He didn’t have an answer for Jardine’s game plan.
edit: Rampage didn’t lose against grapplers, he lost against Muay Thai clinch artists.
He did lose against Sakurba but come on, that was when he was an MMA newb
Ok my point was that i dont think the same would happen to him now either, fighters tend to learn more from losses than they do wins. Or atleast the great fighters!!
Nice post though googan, you know your stuff!! I enjoy a chat with somebody who listens instead of posting complete rubbish!
Chucks still the man lol
Also, Jardine isn’t exactly cream of the crop. The guys too awkward and unorthodox to ever reach the top at mma.
mo, I’ve actually become a bit of a Chuck fan after this fight. Hopefully he will stay on track, keep improving and show us some exciting fights. The only concern I have is his age and wealth. Two big obstacles to overcome in this sport.
COMPLETE GARBAGE THAT IT WOULD BE 11 MONTHS BEFORE A TITLE DEFENSE MATCH. THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER FORMAT TO GET MORE TITLE FIGHTS A YEAR.
you said you were going to knock him out drunky Mc drunk!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I really don’t ever see him beating rampage, but I still believe if he fights at his best, like he did last night, he could be a top contendar, but I don’t think he’ll ever get a belt again.
PHILQNY:
Remember how we were sayin how outrageous it would be if the CHuck/Wandi fight went to a descision? Well I think that fight was teh one exception, it’s not like they werent tryin, that was an edge of you’r seat fight the whole way thru!!
Usually a decision just means it was boring, in this case though, it meant that Chuck’s chin held up better than normal, and that Wandi is simply not a regular human being. Awsome fight, and to my complete suprise, lived up to the hype.
chuck is so overrated…if it would have been 5 rouns he would have got ktfo
if it had gone that many rounds the refs would’ve stopped the fight coz of Wand’s cut. Chuck’s jab was on ALL night.
wishful thinking.

Rampage was quoted, “I don’t want to fight Chuck again, I believe he’s going to be at his best the next time we meet.”
I know he’d like to avenge the a** kickings Wandy gave him but he’s more afraid of the inevitable, a fueled up Iceman looking for revenge!
The “Great White Hope” comment is only for an up and coming hopeful, not an established and best Light-Heavyweight to ever grace the Octagon, very juvenile, nice try though!
i hope we get to see Chuck face Shogun & Hendo before he calls it a career….i really don’t wanna see Rampage vs Liddell III.
BUT if he gets W’s against Hendo (who went 5 rnds w/ Page and KO’d Wand) and Shogun (whom Page has admitted to be the toughest guy he’s ever faced) well then…. i *guess* Liddell deserves another title shot against Rampage (if he’s still champ) …BUT ONLY if he beats those two. if he doesn’t, it’s to the back of the line IMO.
chuck is so overrated…if it would have been 5 rouns he would have got ktfo
I seriously doubt either one of these guy’s would have made it past the fourth round! The beating they gave each other would have dropped most, if not all other light-heavy’s in the division, hell the world. In the third and final round both these guy’s were dropping their hands just to catch their breathe.
With that aside, I was ringside Saturday night and Wandy couldn’t stop the jab or the big right. Chuck delivered and proved he is back, I don’t know which fight you were watching but that was “Ass Kicking 101″ and the professor was putting on a clinic!

haha..lol……Are you kidding us??? “Quite easily”
did you even watch Wandy/Rampage 1 or 2 ??????
you must of missed most of the fight because Wanderlei did NOT beat Rampage easily!!
…next time around Rampage/Wanderlei will be different.
I personally thought Wanderlei was going to win, but the ICEMAN is back..(4 now)..
chuck is so overrated…if it would have been 5 rouns he would have got ktfo
But it wasn’t. It was 3 rounds, a little fact both fighters knew about. Woulda, coulda, shoulda doesn’t count for anything in MMA.
Tito vs Wandy part2??
I don’t think any MMAMath works here.
I still think Rampage will beat Chuck in a 3rd fight and Rampage would probably go to a UD against Wanderlei or maybe a split decision.
He wouldn’t suffer the same type of brutal defeat from his Pride fights, but then again . . . you never know!
But please bring on MACHIDA vs LIDDELL
Tito vs Wandy part2??[/quote
I would love to see that..hope it happens..also hope it does not headline. I loved the fact that Wandy/Chuck happened and there was still GSP/Hughesus….
After Wandy/Chuck it felt like the night was over, then because the fight was sooo good I forgot about GSP/Hughesus.. It was like 2 main events..and thats what I want with Wandy’s next fight.
Wandy fights whoever? with a great main event aswell..
But please bring on MACHIDA vs LIDDELL
This I would also love to see!!
But Machida might take it decision? but then agian Chuck looked great at 79, and I truly believe the ICEMANS back.
who know’s?? nonetheless’ would be a good fight.
I never seen the fight but I wanna see Silva vs Houston (Battle of the Clinch)or even soko. It would be interesting…
I would also like to see Chuck vs Forest when he loses to Rampage. But I figure Chuck will fight someone to keep tuned up like Bonnar, you know just to get another win. YOu wont see em put chuck against the guys who show any amount of potential to beat him. Examples (Machita and the guy who beat Houston)How about Brandon vera moving down a division…
Is that a possibility or do you think he will stay where he is.
Its really sorry that the UFC is putting the LHW belt on the back burner for so long. I guess they kinda should though, in an attempt to get the juices flowing in other divisions. But this whole Coach/titleholder fighting the other coach thing didnt work out once, why try it again? Let these guys fight 2-3-4 times a year.

Yes Sir..out of my seat.on the floor..standing up..The shots that both gave and recieved were crazy. I’m more than satisfied with the fight..and Wandi is going to be around for the next 5 yrs or so..in the ufc. I’m happy being an old school Wandy fan..that he demostrated to the U.S. fans that didn’t know who he was..why he had such a following of fans.
Good for Chuck to turnaround this 2007 yr that wasn’t being good to him inside the octagon. Now for match ups.
Chuck vs Shogun??
Wandy vs Tito??
FEDOR WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fedor Emelianenko def. Hong Man Choi via submission (arm bar) at 1:49 of the first round.

this would be a ‘good’ fight on paper (for true MMA fans). but style-wise? this will be a BORING fight…i dont think Dana will be thinking about this one. you’re gonna end up with two guys looking for the counter-punch and ending up simply standing around for 15 total mins. ZzzzzZzzz.
I prefer Liddell vs. Shogun (theme: avenge former ChuteBoxe partner Wand’s loss)
or to see what Liddell is really made of… put him against Hendo.
liddel will fight machida cause he danas boy and dana wants him to get a title shot again soon. with that being said ..forrest will beat rampage to set up a liddel vs forrest, page will find a way up to the top again and set up a title fight against liddel in 09,and thats the way it will work out! and trust me man it hurts for me to say this cause im a ortiz fan and hes just gonna get screwed!ufc has to take care of there boys first!

I know alot of people think Machida is boaring(myself sometimes) but he is one of the most technical fighters in the division, and he is improving everyday. He knows he has to start finishing fights. With his big win over Soko he is moving higher and higher..Remember this guys undefeated.

Tonights the K-1 Dynamite New years eve event featuring Sakuraba (one of my all time favorites vs. Funaki (a grappling Ledgend)
Dynamite!! 2007 kicks off at 15h00 on Monday December 31 at the Kyocera Dome Osaka. The event will be broadcast live across Japan on the TBS Network.
Is there any way of watching this K-1 event in America? I know TBS wont be airing this event in America, but what about pay per view
I don’t mind that Rampage and Griffin are doing a reality show but they shouldn’t wait till the end to fight. Dana needs to find non champs to fight at the end of shows and then the winner fights the champ as oppose to the Champs holding there belts for 11 months…..
I smell a match up between houston Alexander vs. Sokodjou on the Horizon.
Machida should Fight Tiago Silva
Chuck vs. Shogun
If I was Chuck after the fight I would have demanded a rematch with Jardine….why not? Rampage’s title is on hold till August when he fights Forrest, after that fight he wont be ready to fight again until December, so Chuck has plentty of time to try and regain his title, What better way to show that the fire has been re-lit under his ass than fighting Jardine and destroying him in like May, he could then fight a number 1 contender match in September and if all goes well be ready to fight for the Title in December, which after the Forrest/Rampage fight will be the next logical date for the LHW title to be on the line.
Rampage will be champion as long as juanito is by his side.
I like the way chuck matched up against everyone except for Rampage and Hendo who would both destroy the Iceman. If chuck fights an inspired fight like he did the past Saturday he has a shot against almost anyone. I hope chuck doesnt accept any fight against Hendo, because Henderson would completely Destroy Chucky-poo
Liddell/Hendo aint happening…and I agree Liddell/Machida aint happening, to risky to be a boring fight, plus the to risky for the UFC to risk both fihgters.
Liddell will fight Thiago Silva I bet.
I can’t see anyone stopping Machida at the moment. He’s pretty much a MW too. Just as well he didn’t fight Shogun at 76 like we initially thought. He would embarass Shogun.

Chadx23: I will have to admit that Tiago vs. Chuck would be a very good match up. I will guarentee you all that Sokoudjou’s next opponent will be Houston Alexander.
I kind of think that Machida might get matched up against Tiago so that Chcuk can face Shogun, which is more of a marquree match up.
I really wanted to see Wanderlei win…
I wish that Chuck had went for one of his takedowns at the beginning of the first round. If he had, I think that the outcome of the fight would have been different. In round 2, Silva dropped Chuck with a punch. And what did he do? He backed off and allowed Chuck to get up. Why? Because he wanted to KNOCK CHUCK OUT, STANDING! If he simply wanted to win, he would have jumped all over Chuck when Chuck was down and hurt and went for the kill. But he didn’t. He wanted to entertain the fans with a war, and end it in a knockout. And how does Chuck repay him for his kindness? By lay ‘n’ praying on top of Wanderlei for the last 30 seconds of the fight dry humping him trying to eek out a decision. If Chuck was a TRUE warrior to the highest degree, as Wanderlei Silva is, he would have stood toe to toe with the Axe Murderer swinging for the fences trying to hit that memorable homerun in the bottom of the ninth of the World Series. But instead, he stepped up the plate, holding the bat to his shoulder, hoping to get a base on balls.
In all, I was only dissapointed with that last 30 seconds. Chuck just wanted to play it safe and deploy the Josh Koscheck strategy.
Wanderlei will be back. And still, at this moment, I believe that Wanderlei has a better chance at becoming UFC champ than Chuck does.
I don’t know what all this talk is about Rampage not wanting to fight Chuck a thrid time because he’s scared. LOL. Was Tito affraid of Shamrock when they fought the 3rd time? NO. Rampage has Chuck’s number, and they BOTH know it.
Liddell won great, but men that wasent the Wanderlei I us to see…
Chuck def wont get the belt back. Rampage would destroy a clean Wandy. Griffin isnt gonna beat Rampage. Whos there left to fight Mr. Jackson?

i honestly wouldnt mind seeing Chuck fight Machida… but i think the UFC’s #1 concern (their bottom-line; sales) could take a hit. i dont know if they’d want to risk it.
i actually like Machida. i think he’s better than a lot of people give him credit for. the problem is that the UFC doesn’t really care all that much if you’re good but thath yoou put on a great show for the people paying. Machida is good. but he might be *too good* for the UFC’s liking.

but Everything all adding up on fight night.
Also, I thought I had typed it in my previous post, but I didn’t (I was typing while on a conference call…).
In the third round, did you notice Chuck kept on looking up at the ‘big screen’, most likely to see how much time is left in the fight? If you are looking for a Knockout win, you don’t care how much time is left, you go for the kill. Once that third round hit the half way mark, Chuck just wanted to escape with a ‘W’. Why else would he go for the takedown on Wanderlei when he hasn’t attempted a takedown since…. well, I can’t even remember the last time Chuck went for the takedown. Does anyone?
i can’t believe their gonna “stall” this division again while we wait for the reality series to end …..
Yeah that is some b.S. plus how long until Serra comes back? You got a few good cards with title matches coming up then a lot of waiting. UFC needs to pick up the pace with title defenses, or think about lowering the prices on the pay per views. Chuck looked good, but he looked like Jardine did in their match, dominant with a clear victory. Wandy looked out of sorts for most of the first round. Rampage gets to kick back and coach then fight in August that is seriously weak. Machida was awesome watched it again he owned his opponent.
Wanderlei should’ve simply fought a smarter fight. he should’ve killed Chuck when he was down and made him pay. I’m surprised he didn’t even try to take Chuck down not even once just to mix things up and keep Chuck guessing.
Liddell simply fought the smarter fight (for a change).

But please bring on MACHIDA vs LIDDELL
This I would also love to see!!
But Machida might take it decision? but then agian Chuck looked great at 79, and I truly believe the ICEMANS back.
who know’s?? nonetheless’ would be a good fight.
this would be a ‘good’ fight on paper (for true MMA fans). but style-wise? this will be a BORING fight…i dont think Dana will be thinking about this one. you’re gonna end up with two guys looking for the counter-punch and ending up simply standing around for 15 total mins. ZzzzzZzzz.
I prefer Liddell vs. Shogun (theme: avenge former ChuteBoxe partner Wand’s loss)
or to see what Liddell is really made of… put him against Hendo.
well I am a true MMa fan. So I guess your right?
I know alot of people think Machida is boaring(myself sometimes) but he is one of the most technical fighters in the division, and he is improving everyday. He knows he has to start finishing fights. With his big win over Soko he is moving higher and higher..Remember this guys undefeated.
If Chuck fought Machida In my opinion’ I dont think it would go decision.. Chuck is back on point and it would probably end up looking like Chuck/Babalu, with Chuck KTFO of Machida.
”nonetheless, I would like to see that fight.
i honestly wouldnt mind seeing Chuck fight Machida… but i think the UFC’s #1 concern (their bottom-line; sales) could take a hit. i dont know if they’d want to risk it.
i actually like Machida. i think he’s better than a lot of people give him credit for. the problem is that the UFC doesn’t really care all that much if you’re good but thath yoou put on a great show for the people paying. Machida is good. but he might be *too good* for the UFC’s liking.
by the way… i think Machida is a lot more elusive than Babalu. i dont think Chuck will catch him….with the way Chuck’s fighting i bet he gets the decision against Machida on take-downs. but then again.. who knows???
Whos there left to fight Mr. Jackson?
1. Winner of Lyoto vs. Thiago.
2. Winner of IceMan vs. Shogun or Jardine.
3. Winner of Soko vs. Houston fights AxeMurderer. Winner of that gets title shot after the other 2.
There’s so many possibilities in this weight class. I’m least worried about this weight class, then 155, then 170, then 185, and finally the dreaded UFC HW.
why does everyone think handerson would kill liddell?
He is very similiar in style to randy, and we all know what happened there!!
that is one guy i think would beat rampage if he was to step bak down to light heavy aswell, Randy!! But liddell would just stepup and beat randy again lol

i dont think chuck could beat randy any more, randy was goin through a tough time in his life with his family life and shit like that, he straightened all that out, his head is clear, i think he’d beat chuck just like the first time.. BUT, we’ll never know…

I love the fact that the fight will not happen untll august because that will give Rampage plenty of time to heal his hand.

Chuck has taken his game to a new level, he has had his issues in the past with only being a counter striker. As we all saw,
