Tickets for UFC 82: “Pride of a Champion” will go on sale next week for the pay-per-view (PPV) event that is set to take place LIVE from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on March 1, 2008.
UFC Fight Club members will have the first crack at seats on Thursday, December 27 at 10 a.m. ET. We’ll pass along another update when we know for sure when tickets for UFC email newsletter subscribers and the general public will be available.
As usual, UFC 82: “Pride of a Champion” tickets will be available for purchase through Ticketmaster.com or StubHub.com. (Note: StubHub often has seats available even if the event is “sold out.”)
The second-ever UFC event to take place in Columbus will feature the 185-pound title bout between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson.
“Dangerous” Dan is/was the Pride FC welterweight (183 pounds) king prior to returning to the Octagon earlier this year.
Therefore, this will serve as the second consecutive “unofficial” unification bout for Henderson (also the most recent Pride FC 205-pound champ) — he lost to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, earlier this year at UFC 75: “Champion vs. Champion.”
We’ll share more on tickets and other match ups on this card soon. In the meantime, check out the rest of the rumored UFC 82 fight card right here.

what im wondering is whats going to happen to henderson if he losses both his belts in a row, does he stop being so highly ranked or its ok becuz he lost them to da spider and rampage, i think he should rack up a win at middle weight before fighting for the belt just incase if not its gonna be another fighter with 2 losses in a row
I see what you’re saying hector. There is no shame losing to Rampage and The Spider back to back. Most fighters would lose those fights back to back. I really think that Hendo is gonna pull off the victory here; he is stronger than Silva and sytlistically matches up really well against The Spider.
If Silva wins, then who else is out there that can beat him besides Franklin who is maybe a year and a half away from a title shot. I guess Okami might be next for Silva, if he beats Hendo. I don’ think Lindland can beat Silva; Lindland has a glass jaw.
Hendo is really the only middleweight in the world who can challenge Silva right now. After Paulo Filho’s last fight, he might not be what everyone thought he was.
What sets Hendo apart is his chin and strength. You’ve got to be a strong dude to last five rounds with Rampage. I’ve seen Hendo take a lot of punishment and it doesn’t seem like he gets fazed. Hendo will take a lot of damage against Silva’s precision striking. But if Hendo can get in the clinch and use his greco and dirty boxing skills, he has a good chance. Of course, you can’t take Hendo’s powerful right hand out of the equation either. I’m reall excited about this fight. I probably won’t get 80 or 81, but I’ve got to see this fight.

Keep in mind that this is the last fight on Hendo’s contract so the UFC didn’t want to waste it by having him fight a weaker opponent. This will be an inrecible fight to watch, but as a fan of the Spider, I really dont want to see this fight happen because Hendo is a HUGE threat to his Title reign. Silva is such an exciting, entertaining and Gracious champion that I really do not want to see him loose and the only man who can possibly beat him is Henderson.
Dont get me wrong I am also a huge fan of Henderson, but I selfishly dont want to see Henderson as a champion. I say this because he is kind of like a wild card. He is a game fighter that can consistently bounce around from the middlewight and Light Heavyweight divisions, challenging all the top level fighters, while beating many of them in exciting fashion.
Overall, the fight will go down as an epic, instant classic. We cant go wrong with whoever wins the title. Both Silva and Hendo will make GREAT champions. I just hope Silva holds the title because he has proved to be the most exciting champion in the UFC.
How many times must I tell you Hendo will win this fight.
No problem.
*cough cough Thanks MR. NC-17 for being on your game 24/7 and sending this in
end cough cough*
Hendo will want to use the clinch for his greco skills but that’s a dangerous place to be, as rich franklin learned, against silva.
Anderson Silva loses via spider web deflection from Hendo.

Good point I read how Filio was possibly the best middlewieght in the world but after watching that fight with sonnen its a good thing silva and fhilo are friends because he wouldnt stand a chance and Fhilo is right were he belongs in the WEC.
and Henderson has more than a good chance to unify the middlewieght title.
I honestly believe that Hendo is the only challenge to the title for A. Silva. He has all the right tools necessary to win this fight. My money’s on Dan.

Everyone has a bad day, and if you only take his last fight to evaluate Filho, than I don’t know what to say to you, but me personally, I like looking at a few fights before coming to that conclusion. Not to say that I’ve seen many fights from Filho, “cause I haven’t, but I’m not going to say he sucks from watching only one fight. Sonen had a huge reach advantage in his favor. Filho is really short, but he did what he needed to do and won the fight.
this will be a war but i honestly feel that the spyder is more well rounded and has a huge striking advantage over hendo. I really see this fight either going like the nathan marquardt vs silva fight or the jeremey horn vs silva fight where silva used his bjj to neutralize horns’s wresting ability and then destroying him on the feet. Everyone needs to remember that this isnt the first time silva has fought a great wrestler or a physically strong opponent. silva is just too well rounded and i really feel that it will be very hard for hendo to set up the take down without a striking threat.
another thing is i keep remembering how rampage was waking hendo in the head with his looping punches and hooks and with A. Silva being such a better striker i can see him doing surgery on hendo’s face. A. Silva by ko or decision
I haven’t seen Hendo fight all that much, but if his fight with rampage is any indication he’s liable to get pounced by silva. I really can’t think of anyone that can beat silva right now–I hope GSP beats both Matts and challenges anderson so mma fans can see a real fight. Then again, even GSP might have some trouble with the spider..
Prediction:
Silva via KO
What’s up with Henderson’s photo? He’s either spent waaaaaay too much time in a tanning bed or he’s starring in Soul Man 2.
“I haven’t seen Hendo fight all that much, but if his fight with rampage is any indication he’s liable to get pounced by silva”
watch hendo’s dismantling of wanderlei and then you will know what hendo is all about
Dan Henderson is the only fighter in the MW division that has the skills and heart to beat Anderson Silva. Can he do it 10 times out of 10? NO WAY. But can he beat Anderson at least a few times out of 10, I would like to think so. Right now, I actually have this fight leaning slightly in the favor of Henderson. Hendo has NEVER been knocked out plus he has fought much larger fighters than Anderson. One overhand right by Hendo and the spider will go to sleep. I don’t see Dan getting submitted, unless he goes down from a srike first and is still somewhat ‘out of it’. I don’t see Henderson keeping this fight standing at a far distance, where Anderson likes to strike from. Hendo will be willing to fight from there, but he is also going to be forcing the clinch and he’ll be willing to take Anderson down to the ground. I have never seen Anderson go 5 rounds, but I have seen Dan do it against a large, large man. If the fight goes to a decision, the champion will be HOLLYWOOD!
i agree that hendo has a strong shin and good wrestling skills but its going to take way more than that to take out Anderson Silva. he couldn’t take out rampage whit his wrestling (which rampage ground game is no were near andersons) and he couldn’t out box him either. the only way i see hendo winning is by a powerfull right hand bc we havent be able to see how strongs
sivas chin is bc HE NEVER GETS HIT.
I can’t wait to be there and see it in person. I never miss the Ohio cards. After seeing my hometown hero Franklin lose twice to Silva, I am so excited to see him get his ass handed to him. Trust me, Silva will LOSE!!!!!!!!

HENDERSON has great wrestling skills not good, and Rampage is a big man, henderson is suited for 185, and he gave reampage a run for his money giving up size and weight. I really see this fight as a toss up but leaning towards Henderson.
“Pride of a Champion”… that is one of the worst puns I ever read…
ANDERSSON IS DOING A LOT FOR THE UFC
When you think about it this guy has been involved in 4 title bouts in the space of a year (even though technically the Lutter fight was’nt for the belt).
Franklin
Lutter
Marquardt
Franklin
So roughly a fight every 3 months. Compare that to Sherk or Serra. Their title defenses are scheduled decades apart even without the steroids or back injury problems.
I just hope Anderson is rewarded for his consistancy both in praise and financially, since the UFC are leaning on him heavily as their source for title fights. I believe champions should be more like Silva fighting maybe 3-4 times a year.
Dan Henderson will get caught with some precise shots from Silva in Round 1 and will not be able to find the range he needs. Round 2 will finally see Henderson being able to use his strength as he muscles up Silva against the cage where they exchange blows and the fight hits the mat just before the round ends. In Round 3, we will see some more great striking from Anderson Silva and some solid counter punching by Henderon who looks to take it to the ground, and suceeds in doing so. Henderson will land some nice GnP shots while getting caught in a Silva submission attempt. Bell rings and we head to Round 4 ….
In Round 4, both fighters will definitly look tired, but it will be Anderson Silva who looks the most gased of the two. Henderson will use some good dirty boxing in the clinch, as Silva looks for knees but cannot connect cleanly. Henderson goes on to win via a takedown and GnP in the final moments of Round 4.
We have a new champion
Robbie Lawler can stop Anderson Silva.
If brandon vera could ever make 185 I think he could take out a silva. Height and reach would really help against a mauy thai expert like silva, see how much trouble vera had with big tim? All of silva’s opponents are shorter than him which is great for him to use the clinch and his knees. Of the available 185 pounders henderson definitely has the best shot, but I feel if he kept it standing he would get knocked out like everyone else. He has to use his superior wrestling and ground and pound him, the only way I see him winning, or he could pull a serra…punchers chance.
What would be the point of a unification bout if the organization is defunct? Is Pride going to have another event, ever? Or is it done? If it is done it seems like a big waste of money.
Anderson silva wins early in the 3rd round via fatality.
Robbie Lawler can stop Anderson Silva. Why would you say such a thing like that. Theres now way Robbie Lawler would beat Silva. Robbie Lawler suxs.

Yeah, I agree. Chuck Liddell is still popular, because he was popular to begin with. Hendo hasn’t really cemented himself with the general population, and therefore needs a win to get noticed.
But, I think he has both the talent and style to beat Da Spider.

hendo and silva will be a greta fight, but st pierre has no chance with the spider. They are both great stand up fighters, but I would give Silva the edge in accuracy and strength of strikes. He is also a bjj blackbelt, so he’s not shabby on the ground. St. Pierre is a great fighter, but if Serra can knock you out on a bad night, Silva will kill you on your best night IMO.
Robbie Lawler can stop Anderson Silva.
Only if Chuck Norris corners for him….. And he gets to use a gun.
For the most part - I think of Anderson Silva as unstoppable. Granted, I can only judge him on his UFC fights, but the Travis Lutter fight was the only fight that I felt unimpressed by Silva.
My pick is still going to be Silva by KO, but there’s a part of me that thinks that Silva looks like a complete monster when matched up with Rich Franklin, and pretty damn good when matched up with anyone else.
I still want to see Hendo dominate in the UFC, maybe when GSP gets his belt back, that can be a good match-up. That is, if Hendo decides to drop to Welter.
Dan Henderson is the only fighter in the MW division that has the skills and heart to beat Anderson Silva. Can he do it 10 times out of 10? NO WAY. Excellent points VM. Henderson has NEVER been knocked out and he’s fought a long list of top guys including Wandy, Rampage, Arona, Big Nog, Lil Nog, Belfort, and several more big names. Anderson Silva is an excellent striker, but I think Henderson can stand with him. Henderson’s wrestling ability is significantly better than anyone Anderson Silva has ever faced. This should be an epic fight that could go either way, but I think Henderson will prove to be too strong for Anderson Silva on March 1st.

i heard that chuck norris is so scary that he dont have a chin under his beard……its another fist
Come on guys..truth be told. Any one of the two can get the winner. MMA is a punch or submission away. Don’t think because your chin is hard doesn’t mean it can’t crack!! And even though you may have lethal hands doesn’t mean you can take equally good hands!!!
Lets just wait and see what happens…predictions can go back and fourth and each sides have valid points to their pick. I WANT Anderson to win…but I am not a betting man and wouldn’t put money on this event because either one of those guys can take it on any given good night!!!
Can I get a witness??

I think Hendo must have signed or something, I just can’t see the UFC giving anybody a title fight who only has one figth left, with the possiblility they will win, and then book it to another organization.
SO pumped for this card. Most promising card in a while, and the BEST main event, that I can remember in years.

I think that Dan is stronger but I think Silva is better for some reason.
Silva has been dominate fight after fight destroyed his opponents.
Dan destroyed people to, but is Silva gets better after every fight idk. It will be a good brawl though. Dan is good on ground and so is Silva with his bjj. Silva is also good with his thai. I cannot wait to watch this fight

Everyone is talking talks about Hendo vs. Rampage, but what about Hendo vs. Wandy? Think that is a better fight to measure Hendo’s chin and skills. Anyone to hang with Wandy like that to take and give a beating like that is truely a f-n stud!
I don’t see Hendo arm-baring or triangle choke his way out this fight, it will be full mount ground and pound stoppage in the 4th. Hendo will show us a different side of the spider in this fight, scared, unconfident and cautious.
Hendo will want to use the clinch for his greco skills but that’s a dangerous place to be, as rich franklin learned, against silva.
how? it’s harder for Silva to create space w/ his muay thai clinch and land knees to Hendo’s mug if Hendo’s got that greco clinch going against the fence. and Hendo’s the best at 185 to do it. Silva’s got problems if you ask me. If he doesn’t KO Hendo (which i really think he won’t), Hendo’s got this via UD –and if Hendo doesn’t slip a big right/left hand to put Silva away.
I don’t see Silva KOing Hendo. Hendo just lasted 5 rounds w/ arguably the best 205er in Rampage going into 2008. He gave Rampage a pretty darn good scrap.
Silva’s got his hands full. Dan will take this….unless for some reason he doesn’t want to be MW champ.

I think properly prepare gsp could give ANY middle weight a run for there money, I would love to see gsp fight hendo or silva. Almost everyone assumes either guy would just dominate gsp but I honestly think he’s good enough on his feet and on the ground to hang with either guy. Big John who’s been around and seen it all up close has stated gsp in his opinion is THE best fighter in the world and I think he knows what he’s talking about. I guarantee gsp would have a great game plan for either of those guys, while I’m not saying he’d win I just think most underestimate his ability to hang with those guys. Gsp is more explosive and faster than anyone I’ve ever seen silva fight and is a much better wrestler, don’t get me wrong I’m not saying gsp could beat silva, not sure he’s ready yet but I see the fight being competitive and not completely one sided. I know most don’t agree with me but one day gsp will prove himself and be considered THE best pound for pound fighter in the world.
I guess silva wont be champ forever
Silva will beat Hendo I think because of his speed, wild combos and precision.
I think this is anybodies fight and close to 50/50.
HERE is my question, how does a good Muy Thai clinch stand up against a good Greco Roman clinch?
watch sugar ray robinson vs. jake lamotta.
im sorry guys, ive got to pick anderson silva. i think silva will finish henderson.
good super fight to have, hendo is suspect has had some great fights and some bad ones, i think he is second best only to silva, anderson silva is nasty i think best pound for pound in the world, will be a great battle, but hendo can’t fight silva like he did rampage or he will for surely lose this fight. will the real hendo please stand up?? it will be close but i see the spider winning this, i will say this if hendo loses no one in that crappy division as well as matt lindland can beat the spider
Anderson Silva picks up the win here

We have a new champion
that sounds about right to me

I believe champions should be more like Silva fighting maybe 3-4 times a year.
kinda like how hughes defended his belt often and got no credit. there are fighting champs out there, people only wanna give credit to a few of them though

10.Ninja
I believe that Murilo “Ninja” Rua is one of the most underrated middleweights ever, the guys defeated Matsui, Andrade, Sperry, Shoji, Otsuka, Chunkaiev, Weir, Villasenor, a draw with Gono, and most recently, a win over title contender Xavier Foupa-Pokam at Cage Rage 24. His only losses have been to top ranked fighters, such as Ricardo Arona and Paulo Filho etc. Yet in all of his losses, apart from the unfortunate encounter with Denis Kang, Ninja has showed the heart of a lion and never stopped fighting until the bell. The judges decisions when he fought Dan Henderson and Rampage have been BS, both times the commentators and the crowd believed he was cheated out of a victory. He may not be the most technically sound fighter there ever was, but he is faster skilled than his time in PRIDE and his Jiu-Jitsu is unparralelled. Neither Arona, Sperry nor Filho could submit the dude, and they are some of the best grapplers in the world. He will also be challenging for the Cage Rage belt in early 2008. I think he deserves a place near or in the top 10 middleweights in the world.
