He is a good business man I’ll give him that. Fighter, not so much so anymore these days.

I still hope he can have one more good run at it before he packs it in for good. He is a character but at this stage I question whether he’s in it to win or just for the $$$. Of course big paydays are a byproduct of winning exciting fights but…Oh well we’ll just have to wait and see how things pan out for him I suppose.

The real reason you arent fighting till 08 is because wisely you are planning for the future. Thats probably the smartest thing i have ever seen this guy do. We all know you can not fight anymore. I mean come on when was your last big win over a quality opponent ??? Dont give me that Shamrock bullshit, he was washed up, but back in his prime he’d have torn your head off, the Forrest fight, im not for sure how you pull that one out of your ass but im sure 95 % of the ppl that post threads would agree that Forrest beat you in that fight. Tito has a few bad fights and everyone jumps off the bandwagon. It’s so pitiful. Give the guy credit he’s beaten some of the biggest names in the sport, and again he’s faught injured in his past fights but he’s too “PROUD” to make excuses. Like Tito’s famous saying: “Tito doesn’t earn RESPECT, he just fu*ken takes it.”

You can really tell after watching the last few fights of his that he has back problems. Whether he gets the back problem fixed and comes back strong is yet to be determined but I cut him a little slack. It’s not like he’s a pussy or anything. He’s beat some tough guys and he really has done a lot for the sport.

I probably wouldn’t be watching UFC if it wasn’t for Tito. I used to only watch the WEC back when it was on HDNet and I hated watching UFC because it wasn’t in HighDef but then when I watch season 3 of TUF I thought he was the coolest dude and it made me go back and download all the old UFC PPV fights to see how the Tito/Shamrock feud started. After doing that, UFC was all I watched. I wish him the best for his comeback.

EXACTLY. I am so irritated with all the Tito haters out there. Everyone is brainwashed because Dana White portrays Tito as a scum bag. He’s a legend in the sport of MMA, and I believe he’s one of the 5 most important fighters to EVER step foot in the octagon.

First off, Tito definitely beat forrest. He dominated the first round, with two weak rounds following. You also fail to mention the fact that Tito beat Rashad’s ass and walks away with a draw. That penalty was unfortunate, but the ten point scoring system kills Tito. his first round was much better than Rashad’s third round, but they were still both 10-9 rounds. He should be on the up and up right now, but people are always mocking him.

Tito has done a lot for this sport and recieves no credit, mainly because Dana White goes on national tv and bad mouths him. Tito is still great and will be back.

***FLASH FLASH FLASH***

Yesterday Ryan Gracie, Renzo’s brother and Pride FC veteran was arrested after jacking a car from a 77 year old man, crashing it, and then was apprehended while trying to jack a motorbike. The police said he was acting erratic and talking insane, they said he stated that the Brazilian drug mafia was after him and he was trying to get away from them. Toxicology tests were done on him to see if he was under the influence of drugs.

He was found dead in his cell two hours ago. Looks like he wasn’t as crazy as he seemed.

Rest in peace.

I agree, he still remains one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, next to Couture and Lidell, and Ortiz and Lidell still hold the record for biggest UFC Fight of all time, that no one has broken, nor gonna break anytime soon, unless we see Rampage vs Ortiz. That’ll bring in huge numbers.

Check out this recent interview with Cheik KOngo. It sounds like he might be the one fighting Noguerra for the Heavyweight Crown!

Irish Whip Fighting recently spoke by email with UFC heavyweight contender Cheick Kongo. Kongo commented on everything including Mirko Cro Cop, the steroid controversy, and training with current UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson. (Originally conducted for MMAMadness.com)

Irish Whip Fighting: What do you think about Randy Couture leaving the UFC?
Cheick Kongo: I have no idea. He’s a big man in the sport and we must respect his decision. I’m furious though because I can’t get a fight against him. He’s still a real man with a big heart.

IWF: How do you think that you would’ve matched up against him?
Kongo: It would’ve been a great and tough fight between two men in the Octagon.

IWF: You’re 4-1 in the UFC. What do you attribute this success to?
Kongo: The success comes from all of my training partners: French Team, Bonnel Remy in Miami, The Rampage Camp, Juanito [Ibarra], Quinton Jackson, my family, and many more supporters.

IWF: Your one loss was a split decision to Carmelo Marrero. Did you think you won the fight and would you ever accept a rematch?
Kongo: Yes, I did win this fight and I don’t care now. I made this in really bad and unhealthy conditions. I don’t know if we will make the rematch, but he’s got no chance if he agrees.

IWF: People have said that your ground game needs work. How are you working to improve it?
Kongo: I got nothing to prove. All those who know me know I’m a great wrestler. I’m not BJJ but I’m great.

IWF: Do you think that the people who criticize you like this are justified?
Kongo: Nobody knows me like my training partners and my coach, so shut up! Hahaha!

IWF: What did beating Cro Cop do for your confidence as a fighter?
Kongo: I’m a fighter with a tougher mind and more quality of fighting. I’m not just a bag for people to strike.

IWF: Why do you think that PRIDE fighters are having such a tough time transitioning into the UFC? Is it the ring/cage factor, superior talent, or something else altogether?
Kongo: The truth is elsewhere.

IWF: Can you confirm the rumored fight between you and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira?
Kongo: I will confirm this when I got the contract signed…lol…be patient.

IWF: Where do you rank yourself among the heavyweights?
Kongo: Sincerely, I don’t know and I don’t care. I just want to take the UFC belt.

IWF: What’s it like training with Rampage and Bisping?
Kongo: AWESOME!!! Nothing more…maybe amusing.

IWF: Did you see the Bisping-Hamill fight? What did you think of the scoring?
Kongo: You got the score. I have nothing more to say.

IWF: More and more fighters are getting caught with steroids lately. Why do fighters take them if they know they’ll probably get caught?
Kongo: These kinds of fighters aren’t the real fighters or real men. This kind of product hurts their body and many fighters think that they can be better than their opponents [if they use steroids]. Bullshit…no guts, no glory.

IWF: Can you give us your opinion on the following fights and comment on each? Fedor vs. Couture?
Kongo: This would be an AWESOME fight, Couture is the winner.

IWF: Wanderlei vs. Chuck?
Kongo: STRIKING FORCE. Chuck is the winner.

IWF: Well thanks for taking the time to do this — we really appreciate it.
Kongo: Thank you too.

How does Tito still have fans? What r u tito fans watching? an mma fighter who has been fighting for 10 years and still hasnt even evolved the least bit. If you compare him now with the old Tito he is the same exact fighter with the same exact skill set. He still has No stand up, he still just wants to take u down and ground n pound from inside his opponents guard. he never passes guard, never tries any submissions….He is the same exact fighter he was 10 years ago….The only problem is all the other top fighters have evolved. Look at Randy, he is 44 years old and he still learning new skill sets.

I have absolutly NO respect for a chump like Tito, who wouldnt even defend his title against the #1 contender (Liddell).

What kind of champion doesnt want to fight the #1 contender? He is gutless!

Tito Ortiz will never be in contention for a belt again. The sport has evolved past his one-dimensional ground-n-pound style a long time ago. His downfall was similar to Royce Gracie’s. He failed to reinvent himself after people found a way to neutralize his forte.

Anyone that doesn’t like to get hit as much as Tito doesn’t has no business fighting in today’s UFC.
