clay guida vs roger huerta tuf 6 finale

“What I’m going to do with Clay Guida will be no different than my other fights…. Everything he has I can do way better.

– Roger Huerta on Clay Guida main event fight at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Finale on December 8 via FOXSports.com.

“I believe I will be able to take him down but I will stand and throw until he makes a mistake. My takedowns come off of punches. Roger has a really wide stance and keeps his left leg forward quite a bit which leads into my takedowns … once I start wearing him down I’ll hold him there as long as I want. I’ve held better fighters down I believe. He’s an athlete and he and I scramble a lot so it’s also a timing matter…. In the later rounds, when he’s looking for a way out I’m going to give him a way out.”

– Clay Guida on Roger Huerta main event fight at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Finale on December 8 via FOXSports.com.

I hope these guys don’t come out passive because they are the main draw. What makes their fights so good is the energy these guys have from beginning to end. Guida says he wants this fight to be fight of the year. Hope so.

Who do you think will win? And who do you want to win?

I REALLY want Clay Guida to win - a big fan. However, I think that Guida will have to finish Huerta in order to win the fight. I do not see Guida winning a decision. Just look back to his fight with Tyson Griffin and ESPECIALLY Marcus Aurelio. The fight with Aurelio was one of the more one sided fights I have seen in a while. Two judges gave it to Guida 30-27, and the third judge gave it to Aurelio 29-28. WTF??? Seeing that Roger Huerta is the UFC’s Mexican Golden Boy, I do not see Huerta losing a decision. Also, did you notice the commercials for the finale last night? I think the announcer puts waaaay too strong of a Mexican accent on when he says “Roger Huerta”. He sure can roll those R’s emphatically

I honestly don’t have any idea who will win this one. My instinct says Guida, simply because he’s fought tougher competition. I’m pulling for Huerta, but I won’t be too disappointed if Guida wins. It will probably end up being a decision for one of them.

Yeah I noticed the announcer tryinmg to be a chicano. Also I herd them announce the day and time in spanish on one of those commercials.

VM: I agree with your assesment of the fight. Huerta, being the mexican golden boy, and having a very active fighting style will get the decision. Guida is gonna have to finish him. I am a fan of both guys, I dont really care which one wins and moves up the latter because they are both very talented, exciting fighters, with a ton of potential. I am gonna sit back and enjoy the fight. I wonder who is the fasvorite and what the odds are (probably Huerta).

I totally agree with everything in this post. Don’t get me wrong, Huerta is awesome. But I also feel Guida completely dominated that fight with Aurelio. That 29-28 score for Aurelio was embarrassing. I actually feel that Guida won the Tyson Griffin fight. It was much closer but I’d give the edge to Guida.

And that commercial is brutal!!!! hahaha

Agreed. Also, it may be the unpopular opinion but I call Huerta winning by ref stoppage/tko in the second round. HE has better hands, kicks, and can take a hit. Also, he has really just walked through everyone that he was up against. Sure it has not been the same level of competition as Guida, but he disposed of his fights easily. In the Doug Evans fight after the first round, he looked just upset with his performance and in the second, kicked it into another gear and just demolished him. I sincerely believe that Roger has more ability than Guida and simply has not needed to use it. It is as if he can just flip a switch and step it up.

Guida is as tough as they come, the best cardio, his submission defense is fantasticbut he does not possess knockout power or the strongest submission skills. I just don’t think he has the skillset to beat Roger, unless he outworks him and Huerta gasses. And it has been covered before, if it does go to a decision, it will probably go El Matador’s way, whether fair or not

John, I am REALLY lookin forward to this finale!!!! If I didn’t just buy a new bed room set and a Samsung 4061F LCD TV over the last two weeks, I can’t afford to buy the Mayweather/Hatton fight. I would have loved to watch the TUF finale, then switch channels to Mayweather/Hatton. I watching the finale at home, so I guess I’ll call a few bars and see if they will be showing the PPV.

I predict Huerta win, though I wish that this fight does not go the distance, because decisions always elave room for doubt. I want to see a fellow Texican get the win he deserves. Huerta is great in everything, the only real weaknes i see is him becoming too confident and losing on the ground in round 2 when they both start to gas a little.

as for Floyd Mayweather Jr. VS. Hatton, Hatton´s the better boxer personality, but Mayweather is little short of a boxing-wonder. It will be a bloody war, and I´m sure Pretty Boy will get the first cuts to his face in his life handed to him by Hatton, lose his super-confident cool when he sees his blood drip on the canvas and get KO´d by a body shot uppercut-combo by Hatton. We will see, it´s definetly the only match I would watch besides any Klitschko matches, there´s nobody else truly good left except for them and Hopkins (maybe) in boxing.

Guida should win, he has the tools and proven himself to be dominent in LW div. Huerta Will win if it goes the distance, simply because he is the little UFC poster boy now. Guida got robbed of the Tyson Griffin fight, and I really like the way he handled it, he is a great sport, however I see the judges calling this one already. Huerta is not all that good, but he has staying power and that will get him the decision. I hope for Guida to win by KO. probably won’t happen, but I’d be very happy if it did….

That said, my predictions have pretty much sucked in the past so noone bet based on my opinion! I doubt the UFC would give their future poster boy this test if he wasn’t up to it though.

Huerta is definately the real deal, but I think this fight is too close to call. Guida does tend to leave himself open but I don’t think Huerta has the power to knock him out (or anyone else in the lightweight division for that matter). You saw how well Guida did against Tyson and I expect a similiar fight with Huerta. Huerta will probably take the decision unless guida, with his superior wrestling, can hold him down.

huerta via split decision.

I have enjoyed a few Mayweather fights too… he is hands down the most gifted fighter since early Roy Jones jr…. But it is so frustating, as a fan… to watch a guy so talented he can run in.. 3-4 punches.. run out. and never be in any danger what so ever.. he can do that because of his talent, and he can put us to sleep because of it.. love to see some Hatton bodyshots wear him down, make for some great later rounds… I’ll be watching TUF finale.

the simple fact that Hatton likes to stay close gives away his strategy: don´t let mayweather back off, but invite him in and once he´s in,which even this defensive striker will do due to his overdose of confidence, get him good up close and work him progressively to one side of that gigantic ring.
that´s among the best things in UFC: the cage gives such close proximity that no one can chicken out and bicycle distances to stay away from defeat, you just have to see Silva vs. Ortiz, Silva catches Ortiz badly with a hook to the head and Ortiz scrambles to get away from him only to find himself muscled more by teh Axe Murderer.

Huerta has to prove himself against Clay by KO or tapping him out, because the judges´scoring, even if he should win, should do him and the UFC more harm than good.
Guida on the other hand has the task of shredding UFC´s poster boy to pieces,a task that wont come easy, since Huerta is made of some damn tough paper ;)
