Tito Ortiz Mexico UFC

“My last fight, before I fought Rashad (Evans), I wasn’t 100%, and I just wanted to make sure if I ever fight again I’m going to be 100%. The back injury that I sustained kind of hindered me for fight time. Now it’s a lot better, and May will be my next fight. I spoke to Lorenzo (Fertitta), and it looks like in May. They’re going to wait until May, so the next Cinco de Mayo weekend will be Tito Ortiz’ next fight.”

– Light heavyweight Tito Ortiz tells MMAWeekly.com that he plans to return on Saturday, May 3, 2008. No opponent was named. That event would more than likely be dubbed UFC 84. Is it possible that the event it could take place in Mexico? It would seem fitting given the timing and the heritage of “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.” Perhaps he would join (not fight) his friend and training partner, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who recently admitted to us the he “Loves Mexicans.” Hmmm …

Can Tito Ortiz stop making excuses after every fight that he can’t win, and just admit that the fighters that the UFC has in the LHW division are better than him? He’s not even in the top 20.

I agree with John he is a show man he belongs in WWE.

However, I would like to see Rashad finish him once and for all.

I think it’s unbelieveable how people can turn against someone who has helped the sport that we all claim to love become mainstream. Tito has done just as much, if not more than any other fighter (Liddell, Couture, etc.) to make the UFC as big as it is.

Give him some freakin’ respect. If you don’t respect him, his fighting style, that’s fine but at least respect him for his contributions for substantially helping make the UFC what it is today.

I don’t think anyone is trying to take away what he has done for the sport, just simply stating that they do not wish to see his fights…which are no where near as good as what he did early in his carrer.

I wish all the tito haters would give it a rest!

His only losses since 1999 have been against Chuck and Randy, i think we can excuse him that. He sells a fight like no other and came across as a top rate guy on TUF3.

I for one will watch him with keen interest in 2008. If he can string a couple of wins together he’ll be worth a crack at the belt. Remember he holds wins over Wanderlei Silva and Forrest who are both sniffing around a title shot.

Well it seems like the UFC better hurry up and produce another season of TUF containing LHW’s before May, otherwise Tito won’t have a single opponent to fight! What a joke he has become. Tito will not accept a fight against anyone currently even near the Top 5 of the division. Also, if Tito’s next fight is in May, he shouldn’t open his fat mouth until March, not November.

Love them or hate them Tito Ortiz and Matt Hughes gave the UFC the only continuity they had at the time. When they were both champions they fought more then anyone and they won. Plain and simple. They gave the organization recognizable fighters and marketable fighters. Both guys have had medicore performances their last couple dances, but really Randy was a wash for his last two Chuck fights.
Tito Ortiz still holds the most PPV buys and the best rating for free to air fights in UFC and I believe MMA history. Now he’s going to bring in even more people being on the celebrity apprentice. If he was such a waste why would the Fertittas re-sign him and take Dana out of the negotiations? Because like I said, love him or hate him, that dude packs a house and sells PPVs. Complain all you want about his marketing but he’s a cornerstone of the UFC franchise, I’m sure he’ll be around for a long time, whether as a fighter, commentator or ambassador.

If you aren’t 100%, should you fight and risk serious injury? But that means no paycheck. Hmmmmmm…….if you’re going to fight, STOP WITH THE EXCUSES.

Someone needs to KNOCK HIM OUT & SHUT HIM UP!! I’m sick and tired of hearing him always complain about his injuries and what would have happened had he been 100%. No one is ever 100% going into a fight. His time has come and passed, he’s a business man, not a fighter. He’s done good things for the sport whether you want to believe it or not, but its time for him to hang up his gloves. I think he’s a much better coach than he is a fighter.

I’d like to see him KO someone with a slam again.

If he says he’s taking time off because he was hurt that’s not an excuse that’s a reason. He’s never said I only lost because I was hurt. The dude is getting old but he’s still a good draw and looks a hell of a lot better on a card than a lot of the guys that are getting top billing.

UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk (Pictures), who was suspended for one year after testing positive for Nandrolone Metabolites following his victory over Hermes Franca (Pictures) at UFC 73 on July 7, had his suspension reduced to six months on Tuesday, reports Sherdog.com editor Josh Gross.

Yeah sure, because every other time Tito got an opponent to the ground he finished them right off? Not quite. He had Forrest on his back for almost all of round 1 and couldnt finish him. He had Rashad on his back multiple times during their fight. Rampage is far more advanced than both Rashad and Forrest (in my opinion) and Tito couldnt finish them, so I do not see him finishing Rampage. And if they fought, once the fight hit the ground, Rampage would get back up. Tito always had a size and strength advantage at 205. Rampage is a freak when it comes to strength. Tito would not be man handling Rampage.

I guess thats why im a chuck fan, he may not always fight the best but he gets in harms way to try and find his opponents. Tito needs to step it up, be far more aggressive and confident to even be considered for some of the fights that have been spoken about, ie, shogun.
Give him bisping and take it from there, would be interesting as i think bisping looked improved against rashad!!

After every fight Tito loses or draws, he was not 100%. I get tired of hearing that. If you step into the octagon, there should be no excuses. If your not at 100%, then don’t fight, that way we don’t have to hear you whine and complain afterwards. Tito couldn’t hang with Rampage for five minutes. Tito doesn’t seem to have the confidence in the ring now that he used to have. It’s almost like he doesn’t believe in himself anymore. Now having said that, I think he made one heck of a coach on TUF. If only Tito would buy into his own sales pitch we might see a turn-around.

HAMMER RIGHT ON THE HEAD OF THE NAIL!

Why in God’s name does Tito bitch about fighting each fight injured,”Owwwweeeee my back my back, arhg… shouldn’t have trained so hard, next fight i’ll rest and make sure im 100%”
We hear this everytime he fights, at some point the guy should take his own advice.

If anybody didn’t know, let me tell you. Tito is Over.
Thanks for efforts over the years, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Tito for the next few years will just be a gate keeper of the LHW division..if Babalu was still onboard..him an Tito make an intresting match up.

What about Thiago Silva? Tito blew his load on the Shamrock fights..they’re still some intresting match ups with him in the divison..but its as likly to make a cell phone call from the moon that he will again wear gold..

what if Tito drops to 185?? and comes knocking on Silva’s door. Bad idea right.
His name isnt really Tito, its Jacob…what a clown.
~Tito is a Mexican nickname, like Chuck is for Charles, and Bill is for William. Keeping true to his heritage and that’s why he carries that Mexican flag.

I bet you they will have an event in Mexico city, I knew it when rampage said that he loved mexicans, they could line up Ortiz not to fight the champ but some competition, also hopefully huerta wins and he will fight on that card, diego sanchez damn it would be a good card if they rack up all the latino fighters. and by 5 de mayo its perfect, man if and ofcourse he will better yet after GSP wins december imagine how much money he will rack up for the ufc if the championship fight is in montreal damn i need to start saving up some money

Call him washed up, but i would definitely pay to see him fight Rampage. If Tito can take it to the ground, it would be a done deal.
Tito would not be man handling Rampage.
to titos credit looks like forrest has a great guard shogun got him with 1 elbow thats it all other attempts to hit him where avoided very well and tito was relentless with his attack on forrest but he did his best to avoid damage and in my opinion tito won that round but from the last seconds of round 1 when forrest got up all the way to the end of the fight i think forrest dominated the stand up and stuffed alot of takedowns, should of won
Lets not forget what kind of champion Tito was. As champion, tito would not fight the #1 contender (Liddell). I have never herd of another champion in mma that wouldnt fight the number 1 contender to his title. Thats just plain pathetic. He forfitted his title rather than fight chuck, the only reason he ever fought chuck was cuz chuck had the belt. I have no respect for a fighter like that. Is that really a champion? I hate Matt Hughes, but he never declined a fight with a number 1 contender, thats a champion. Say what you want about chuck, but he was willing to fight anyone as champ, he even went outside of the UFC to Pride to try and fight the best competition out there. Thats a champion. Shogun was saying he would like to fight Tito, and how does Tito respond? He wants to fight the winner of Rashad and Bisping…get a clue! He is the biggest JOKE of an mma fighter that I have ever seen.

The best Tito Ortiz moment of all time was against Randy Couture, when Randy started literally spanking tito on the ass! Thats what I think of when I hear the name Tito Ortiz. I cannot respect a fighter that has been around for 10 years and still doesnt know how to throw a proper punch. I really wont be surprised to see him in the WWE.
its not that he doesnt know how to throw a punch bro, its that his best way of winning a fight is ground and pound and with his wrestling background he favors that, do you really think he doesnt know any bjj or how to punch come on dude, Chuck knows how to do all aspects of mma but he chooses not to so do alot of fighters when desperation comes or they see the oppening it would be foolish of them to not finish the fight, like for say in december if wandy rocks chuck and chuck falls down lets say wandy goes to ground and pound relentlessly and chucks legs are high he would be a fool not to try and get a triangle or something imagine if he submitts wandy dude that would be very impressive and ppl would stop talking shit about chuck he should start throwing his legs too man hes got power in them too, but we will see what goes down in vegas, as for tito i think ground and pound is etting harder especially if they have a good guard for the exception of Alexander

for sure dude i agree with you im just sayin everybody hates on tito but if he gets a win over rashad like he basically had in the last fight hes gotta put himself in the top couple in the division again thats just how it is….i mean i dont think its totally unrealistic to see tito decisioning rashad….getting a fight against a pretty big name maybe shogun and if he could pull another win hed have to be in title contention talks
not sayin that tito is the dopest fighter out there just that the way light heavy is right now anybody who wins a few fights in a row is in title contention

I hear ya! A two fight win streak against anyone in the Top 10 of the division is good enough to earn a title shot right now in the LHW division since it so stacked. Evertime they match up 2 fighters in the Top 10, one of them has to lose and fall down the ‘rankings’.

However, I would like to see Rashad finish him once and for all.
Not in the top 20? so Rashad must be 25th, and bisping a close 26th, oh and Hammil waiting for the bell to ring at 27th! He controled the Rashad fight for 13 of 15 minutes…don’t be dumb son. Chin up…its not your fault…its your parents

does any one understand that he has been fighting with injuries since he made his return against forrest griffin? he came in to that fight, with his knee heavily tapes and wrapped up, remember that? he came in to the rashad fight with an aggravated disc in his lower back and had injections in his back… you people probably take off work from mcdonalds when your knee is sore, this guy is FIGHTING another man with an injury.. how can you talk shit on a guy that does that? sure his fights havent been convincing and he hasnt dominated any one like he used to, you can’t take a year and half off from the sport, and come back with injuries and expect to be the same… anyone who is a serious gym goer understands that when you take time off, and go back you are no where near the same as you used to be and you gotta fight just to make it back to what you used to do, let alone catch up to the other guys that didnt stop… i used to be able to curl 120 lbs last summer on a straight bar.. i took some time off, dilly dallied, and just recently ive been lifting joking around, and 100lbs is giving me trouble.. so just imagine what tito is going though..

i dont totally agree with this, but it is a good theory.. its a close call, cause griffin is going to fight for the title probably in april or june after the next season of tuf, and if tito wins his fight in may and gets another win in july or august, they just may do that match up.. that would be interesting.. but his next fight probably wont be against a top guy, though i do hear vitor belfort is calling him out for a rematch, then if he fights.. maybe jardine.. then he might be in line for a title shot.. who knows, i wanna see tito as champ again though.. more then anything (involed with MMA, not my life.. lol)

He’s lost only a couple fights and they were against some of the best the UFC has to offer. You ungrateful bastards are probably the same people that cheered him on when he was on top, and now you turn your back and talk shit about him. That’s f**ked up.
