UFC Best of 2007
“UFC: Best of 2007″ will air on SpikeTV tonight at 9 p.m. ET, featuring some of the top performances that took place inside the Octagon in what was an extremely busy year for the organization.

Here are some of the match ups:

 • Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquardt
 • Roger Huerta vs. Leonard Garcia
 • Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre

There are “more” that will be broadcast during the three-hour special. Yes, THREE HOURS of fights, which will more than likely include the rash of upsets that rocked almost every single weight division.

Remember also the instant classics such as the war between Spencer Fisher and Sam Stout during their rematch, the clash between lightweights Frank Edgar and Tyson Griffin, as well as Gabriel Gonzaga knockout of Mirko Cro Cop and Rampage Jackson taking out then champion, Chuck Liddell.

Those are just some of the bouts that highlighted this writer’s fight season — unsure if any or all of them will be broadcast this evening. One thing is for sure, however; there is no shortage of great fights in 2007.

Come to think of it, three hours might not even be long enough.

If you miss the episode don’t worry … it will re-air on Saturday, December 15 at 8 p.m. ET.

In the meantime, tell us about your top fights of 2007 in the comments section below.

Man, really. Silva vs Marquadt wasn’t anywhere near what I would call the best. It was brutally one-sided and short.

My votes for best of 2007:

Jackson vs Henderson
Anything with Clay Guida
Anything with Tyson Griffin
Stout vs Fisher
Marcus Davis vs Terry Etim was it?

I agree that Silva vs Marquardt isn’t exactly the most exciting fight of the year. Neither is GSP vs Serra for that matter. For me

All 3 Tyson Griffin fights. Edgar/Griffin is probably my favorite, but all 3 were amazing
Stout/Fisher
Rampage/Henderson
Huerta/Garcia
Karo/Burkman was a decent fight
Fitch/Diego
Leben/Martin was an entertaining brawl
Couture/Sylvia - Not an amazing fight in and of itself, but pretty monumental and a huge upset
Maynard’s tuf finale fight (cause of the controversy)

How about Pete Sell vs Scott Smith. Not only was it a highly entertaining fight, but it also had the craziest ending to a fight in UFC history, in my opinion.

And you can’t forget the instant classics like Gabe Gonzaga vs Kevin Jordan, Tim Sylvia vs Assuerio Sylva, and Arlovski vs Werdum.

There really should be zero debate when it comes to fight of the year 2007.

Easily the best fight I’ve seen in the UFC was the re match between Sam Stout and Spencer Fischer. A classic display of crisp boxing and overall use of the cage. Many bombs were thrown and these two managed to keep on going for a full 3 rounds.

It’s a wrap ! A close second argument can be made for Tyson Griffen and Clay Guida. You can say Randy Couture’s bout but he just dominated him for 5 straight rounds with accurate boxing and takedowns, Sylvia had no chance.

Arlovski vs. werdum was the most boring fight arlovski has takin part in. both guys wanted to counter fight and ended up doing nothing. I even recall the ref going to take a point away if they didn’t start fighting.

I’m sorry that you couldn’t sense my sarcasm in my last sentence. But if you ever have the option of watching Gabe Gonzaga vs Kevin Jordan, Tim Sylvia vs Assuerio Sylva or simply watch paint dry - pull up a chair and stare at the wall and watch that paint dry! Those 2 fights were actually worse than Arlovski/Werdum in my opinion. I would say excluding the superman punch in the Gonzaga/Jordan fight, but I have the Werdum bitch slap right up there with that superman punch!

Just a day or two ago, in one of the threads we go to talking about the best fights of the year. In my opinion, #1 should be Fisher/Stout II and #2 should be Huerta/Garcia and #3 should be any Tyson Griffin fight. There really weren’t many great ’scrambling’ type matchups outside of the LW divsion - like a Diego vs Karo from last year, or the typical Nick Diaz fight when he was in the UFC (like when he fought Diego and Karo).

Breakout fighter of the year: Houston Alexander!

Comment by Esteban

Houston isn’t really that good. He caught Jardin, and Sakara hasn’t won any big fights. Thiago dominated him. That’s a fight I would like to see on the replay!

Spencer Fisher v. Sam Stout makes the most sense out of what I’ve seen posted. If I had to put in my vote for most disappointing match of the year, I’d say Spencer Fisher vs. Frank Edgar. That fight was a huge letdown for me, even though I wanted Edgar to win going in. Diego vs. Kos was another big letdown.

Because it was a 1 sides fight. When i think best fights of the year I think of back and forth battles like Rampage/Henderson, not GSP completely tooling Hughes. The only really 1 sides fight this year I’d put up there is Couture/Sylvia because of the back story.

I think Clay Guida/Tyson Griffin gets Fight of the Year so far. Huerta/Guida looks promising. And although Fisher/Stout II was exciting, it was kinda just Fisher hitting Stout. Fisher never really looked rocked at all, and he won all three rounds. But what do I know…
Micheal Bisping beating elvis sinosic
yeah… NOT. But I betcha Bisping/Hamill will be on it. Controversy.

DOn’t forget, Nate Quarry’s return againts Sell. Another solid one!

The only ones any good are Rampage, GSP,Serra got lucky the first time and he looked like shit and acted like an asshole on Ultimate Fighter, and The NightMare, and Lil’ Diaz. All the rest,Bums!!! If you want to see some good ass fights, watch WEC and check out Faber!!! The California Kid is knockin em dead and is the real deal!!! I’d put him up againt anyone in he weight class in the UFC and he would knock em silly!!!
