dana white randy couture

Updating earlier reports, UFC President Dana White and UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture have met to discuss the future of “The Natural.” There is nothing concrete to pass along in terms of how the discussion went at this time.

In fact, White offered vague statements such as “Stay tuned” and “We’ll see what happens next.” More than likely Couture is now making a decision regarding his future based on the conversation/negotiations during the meeting.

White had more to talk about (big surprise) as a guest on “The Carmichael Dave Show” on KHTK in Sacramento, Calif. To listen to the audio click here and here. For our deaf and/or lazy readers check out a comprehensive recap right here.

In the meantime, “stay tuned.”

I think the two sides have already agreed on something and are just waiting for a good time to announce it (like the next PPV).

Randy vs BigNog @ ufc81

My guess is that Randy will fight Big Nog. Dana probably stroked Randy’s ego enough to get him to come back. I’m sure a few hundred more g’s will also help. I’m curious as to what the big announcement for Rampage is.

Get Diaz back and bring Condit over. Natural Born Killer wouldn’t need more than a fight or two at the most before he gets serious title shot consideration.

it would be nice to see but randy can’t have many fights left in him and it sounds like theres a possibility of randy vs fedor and rampage has alot of people at lhw he needs to worry about i am sure he would rather rematch vandy and shougun than fight randy.

Why are you so anxious to see arlovski again, his last three fights have been close to pathetic you cant blame werdum because hes a groud specialist and hes not aggresive on the feet, Arlovski didnt press the action and faught timidly the entire fight. de pano was pretty close to submitting arlovski who didnt look good in that fight either and got help from shitty officiating. and worst of all was his unanimous loss to imobile tim S. The rumor was he was hurt ok I bought that until I saaw his next two awful performances. He used to be an exciting fighter but now hes not even top 5 hw.

randy vs fedor should be happening in 2008. dana doesnt have much of a choice at this point with the ufc ppv buys dropping more and more. the ufc can try to spin things anyway they want but every bar around was carring ufc ppvs in 2006 and now at the end of 2007 hooters arent even carring the event anymore at most locations. the interest in the ufc is slowly going away with these horrible ppv’s and with dana trying to get 5 round fights as a standard and 7 round for title fights that mean we get 3 fights on ppv’s. im sure it wont happen but if it did the ufc would be the laughing stock of mma. thank god we have elitexc and hdnet fights because i would rather watch them anyday over the ufc lately.

2008 looks like it will be worse then 2007 in the ufc and thats sad. randy vs fedor is the only fight that matters and i still think fedor runs thru him but i would be cheering for randy.

- In regards to UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, White once again alluded to the fact that he has some major news regarding him that the UFC will be announcing soon.

- At the end of the interview White did an up sell for the upcoming taping of the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. He confirmed that taping will begin in January and that they will be shaking things up. As an side, I am aware of some of the finalists that have been chosen for the final interview process and I can tell you that there are some interesting names under consideration. Look the the caliber of talent on the next season to be a major upgrade over the current season.

Very interesting interview, also with Filho and condit being popular champion, Dana said that WEC champions vs. UFC champions is a definite possability.

He said he would bring nick diaz back in a second.

it probably is rampage being a coach on ultimate fighter meaning it will be nearly a year before he fights again ala hughes and serra
doesn’t the ufc ever learn?? anyways i doubt couture will take the fight unless they throw a million or so on him. it would be a awesome fight and would sell out in vegas.

Dana looks like Cousin Fester in that photo.

If Dana greased Randy and the announcement is that he will not retire and retain the strap, do you still think all this highschool drama was about respect?

Sounds like both sides might be coming to their senses. Dana and the Fertitas wrote a big check and Randy stopped being a dumbass.

the reality is this…fedor wont do the the fight not because of the money not being enough, but if he takes the fight and loses (like i think he would) then his number fighter in the world shit gets flushed. Im a big fedor fan but hes not the greatest because he has not fought randy yet, so that shit needs to stop

Ummm…. if Randy gets a BIG check out of it, then it sounds like he was being VERY smart. I think the last pathetic UFC fight night showed that the UFC NEEDS Randy. I think that is the point Randy was making all along, “show a little respect because I’m not your chump”.

well i hear he is fighting barnett, if he was afraid of randy he would not fight barnett i am sure if the fight is offered he will take it, its the ufc that has the power to make it happen or not.

Carmichael Dave is the “Dude” great interviewer, kept stinging Dana on for one more question and he knows the right stuff to ask, sounds like a real MMA fan…. Dana just may be the hardest working man in MMA.

How about Rampage n’ Hendo VS Forest n’ Silva as coaches for TUF 7 and international fighters inclued like from brazil japan some etc?

Anyway it’s better be something BIG!

I really hope it is Randy vs big nog. At this point I think randy could beat No. And not just a UD but stop him like he did Gonzaga. With his cage experience he could dominate. If he stopped big nog when Fedor couldn’t after trying three times that could cement him as the number 1 heavy weight.

If i was a betting man, id put the house on randy over either nog or fedor..

Randy has huge wins over beltfort (who at the time was considered unbeatable), liddell (again noone gave randy a chance), horn (just a noteworthy win), randleman (utterly dominated this fight), ortiz (noone gave randy a shot), rizzo (twice), smith (after smith ko’d coleman), silvia (44 years old and outa retirement in the biggest win of his career to date), and gonzaga (who killed crocop who also lost to kongo)

Fedors biggest wins are over Nog (by far his biggest victorys to date) then randleman (who was literally inches away from parolyzing fedor) crocop (the most overated fighter ever imo),
coleman twice (was barely a top 20), fujita (not even top 10 and just lost to monson who lost to rizzo who lost to randy),
Hunt (not even top 10) babalu (not even top 15 at lhw) and lindland (which he cheated in to reverse the td after getting rocked)

randys most impressive wins= liddell, beltfort twice, ortiz, randlmam, rizzo twice, gonzaga, sylvia

fedors most impressive wins= nog, randlman, crocop lol, and i guess hunt

winner= RANDY!!!!

I think Randy is Already the number one HW he is in a tougher orginization and has fought tougher people. The only time this schmuck comments is when it’s related to Fedor. I bet he has Fedor posters on his wall and has Fedor shirts, shoes, even underwear. Dude, comment on another fighter every now and then. You just sit and watch this site waiting for somebody to say something about Fedor so you can correct them or educate them on what ever they say about him.

Comon now stop this “Fedor is shit” bullcrap. You just have to watch his matches to see that he like Randy a great fighter. Both of them have had great victories. And to say that Fedor havent fought tuff oponents is just wrong. Both Cro Cop and Hunt where really great back then and Matt Lindland is also a good fighter. I dont think im the only one who would enjoy a match between Fedor and Randy more then any other right now.
