TUF 6 FINALE BLOW-BY-BLOW LIVE MAIN CARD COMMENTARY:

DrubySunshine: Whats good Maniacs, its time for some free MMA action tonight. Guida vs Huerta is a matchup that could EASILY be a main event on a ppv so to get it for free is a treat. Also with all Ultimate Finales its very interesting to see the strides all the contestants on the show have made after leaving the confines in Vegas and going back home to new teams with a significant amount of time to train and hone their skills. Danzig vs Speer should be a great one, but most of all I think its about time Clay Guida gets some respect and time in the spotlight after a string of exciting fights, decisions and victories that many feel he was robbed in. Who better to fight than Roger Huerta? The golden boy of the 155 division who many think has yet to face a fighter on his level and tonight all that changes so sit back relax and enjoy.

Clay Guida vs. Roger Huerta (155-pound limit)

Round one: Im siked up for this one Guida came out looking crazy and amped up as usual, Huerta looking more calm and collected. Huerta has a substantial size advantage. This is Huerta’s first real test and Guida’s first shot in the spotlight here we go. High kick by Huerta misses. Guida with a jab then shoots for a single leg take down and gets it. Huerta in butterfly guard. Huerta scrambles back to his feet. Huerta throws a lazy jab and Guida shoots, pins him up against the fence and lands a MONSTROUS SLAM!! Huerta with half guard and Guida is looking to pass. Now theres a scramble and Huerta has a ankle lock but looses it and now Guida has his back. Huerta reverses and is on top. Guida lands a HUGE knee!!! Big John McCarthy stops it though and gives Guida a warning b/c Huerta had a knee on the ground. Huerta with a nice left hook and solid leg kick. Guida throwing wreck less punches but he connects on 3 solid right hooks then uses his jab to set up another take down. Guida has Huertas back again and now has both hooks in!!!! He flattens Huerta out and now those hooks are in deep!!! Only 30 seconds left though. Huerta slips out and is now on top. Guida now again reverses position and is on top raining some hammer fists!! Thats the bell!!! WOW! A relentless pace by both fighters with non stop back and forth action. Id give that round to Guida due to his 2 take downs and ground control. But both fighters look great.

Round two: Guida with a great right cross followed by another then a left right combo!! Guida then uses another right cross to set up another take down!! Huerta scrambles and Guida lands a knee then Huerta lands an uppercut. Now their back to the feet and both guys exchange rights. Huerta with two consecutive high kicks that land flush. But Guida answers with another take down and is now in Huertas full guard. Guida looking to pass. This pace is ridiculous its non stop. Huerta scrambles and now Guida has Huertas back again. Guida with another solid right. Guida lands a stiff jab and now their back to the feet. Huerta lands two good punches, but Guida answer with two HUGE rights and Huerta looks ROCKED!!!! Guida pounces and gets another take down. Both fighters scramble, and now Guida has north south positions. Back to the feets and both fighters exchange HUGE punches!!!! Guida lands a HUGE right hook and drops Huerta!!! Huerta is hurt BAD!!!!! Guida is on top in Huertas full guard trying to finish the fight and Huerta is holding on for dear life. Thats the bell!!! WOW! 30 more seconds and Guida finishes the fight. Again that round goes to Guida he is dominating the ground and had Huerta ROCKED.

Round three: Both fighters exchange combos. Huerta lands a HUGE knee and now Guida looks like hes in BIG TROUBLE. Huerta has Guida’s back and now he has sinked in a rear naked choke!!! Its DEEEP!!!! Thats it the fights over Guida taps out. WOW!!! That was an AMAZING FIGHT! Guida was dominating the fight and was ahead on the score cards but Huerta never slowed one bit and after almost being finished at the end of round 2, Huerta comes back and closes out a well earned victory. That was a Fight of the Year canidate right there and if it wasn’t for the J-Rock vs War Machine instant classic easily would have been fight of the night. The pace was unheard of and the action non stop word cant explain the quality of that fight and theres no way you can call anyone a loser in that fight. This was by far the best fight card ive seen in the UFC EVER!!! Maybe im just caught up in the moment but with just those two fights alone (Guida vs Huerta/ J-Rock vs War Machine) this was the best action packed fight card ive ever seen.

Final Result: Roger Huerta def. Clay Guida via Rear Naked Choke Round 3

-end-

Mac Danzig vs. Tommy Speer (170-pound limit)

Round one: Here we go time for a TUF 6 champ to be crowned. Speer has a very obvious and very large size advantage. Its ridiculous how much bigger he looks. Speer shoots right away and both fighters clinch against the fence then Danzig gets a take down right away and gets into full mount instantly!!! Danzig now raining down punches and elbows, now he has Speer’s back!! Speer is in serious trouble!!!!! Danzig has a rear naked choke locked in DEEEEP!!! Thats it we have a new Ultimate Fighter champ, Speer taps out after Mac Danzig simply dominates and outclasses Tommy Speer with an effortless victory. Danzig was obviously the better fighter in this one even though it looked like a light a 155 pounder versus a heavy 185 pounder it didn’t matter Danzig just did what he pleased from start to finish and it only took him 1 minute into round 1 to get a take down, secure full mount, transition to his back, and lock in a rear naked choke. It couldnt have been any easier. Well deserved victory, and now as previously stated Danzig will move to the 155lb weight class where he should be a fighter to be reckoned with. As for Tommy Speer, his inexperience showed and he admitted that the pressure packed atmosphere did get to him and get him out of his comfort zone. However, Speer is a very strong 170 pounder with a great wrestling back round and he showed throughout the season that he has heavy hands and a great work ethic. With some more time, training, experience, and linking up with a good fight camp Speer should be around in the 170lb division for some time and he has the skills and potential to become a very good fighter. Tonight however he was simply out of his league in every sense of the word.

Round two:
Round three:

Final Result: Mac Danzig def. Tommy Speer via Rear Naked Choke Round 1

-end-

Jared Rollins vs. Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver (170-pound limit)

Round one: Rollins with a quick single leg take down. War machine with butterfly guard then stands up and takes down Rollins! War Machine on top in Rollins full guard. War posturing up and dropping some huge right hands. Rollins with a nice elbow from the bottom. Rollins another two solid elbows from bottom but War Machine keeps the action moving and using right hands to the body. Rollins again with some elbows, but War is answering with vicious body shots. War not really looking to pass guard he seems content just trying to posture up and land the big right. Rollins trying to just control War and not let him posture while peppering in some elbows. War with some SICK elbows and now Rollins is cut bad!!! But Rollins throws 4 consecutive elbows to the head from the bottom again!!! Thats the round. Gotta give it to War Machine but this one is a good scrap so far.

Round two: War Machine with two huge bombs to start the round. Rollins comes right back with a huge combo and then lands a good knee from the clinch!!! War Machine is now cut really bad. War back on top in Rollins guard. Rollins again using elbows, and War still trying to posture and land a huge right. The ref stands them up. Flying knee by Rollins but misses and War Machine lands a huge left!!! Rollins with a take down, and both fighters are bloody beyond belief. Rollins is now looking to posture and War is keeping full guard. Rollins passes to side control now. Rollins has his back and is going for a choke but War slips out. Rollins in side control again and now he again transitions to the back. War gets back to full guard. Rollins dropping bombs now and is putting a beat down on War Machine. Thats the bell!!! WOW!! What a great round it wouldve been over but War is saved by the bell. Rollins wins that round easy.

Round three: Both fighters are bloody and battered. Rollins shoots right away for a double but War Machine uses a switch and winds up on top in Rollins full guard. War Machine with two MONSTER RIGHTS!!! A Vicious elbow by War!!! Hes doing some serious damage!!! WOW!! What a great fight. Ref stands them up, War shoots and Rollins lands a HUGE knee followed by a solid right cross that drops War. Rollins with two more shots. Rollins on top. WAR switch him and now is on top in full mount!!!!!! Hes raining Bombs!!!! WOW!!! Thats it its over!!!!! The ref stops it! War Machine wins!!!! WOW!!! This may not have been a technical fight, but as far as straight brawls goes this was one of the best ive seen in the UFC. By far the bloodiest fight ive ever seen and this one was on the level on Griffen vs Bonnar as far as action fights in UFC History go, WOW!! Im speechless.

Final Result: Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver def. Jared Rollins via TKO (Strikes) Round 3

-end-

George Sotiropoulos vs. Billy Miles (170-pound limit)

Round one: Miles comes out guns blazing and throw two Huge right handed bombs!!! George takes him down and has a hook in now using some hammer fists while working his way to Miles back. Now George has both hooks in and has Miles back and hes softening him up with punches trying to get an opening for a rear naked choke. Miles is in trouble!!!! Its over!! George wins by submission in an extremely impressive display on ground skills. He looked great and that should help erase his devastating KO loss to Tommy Speer.

Round two:
Round three:

Final Result: George Sotiropoulos def. Billy Miles via Rear Naked Choke Round 1

-end-

Ben Saunders vs. Dan Barrera (170-pound limit)

Round one: Saunders with high kick Barrera shoots for a single and now there tied up against the cage. Barrera still holding onto the single and hes working some knees to the thigh. Saunders now clinching the head and uses a sharp knee to the face which leads to a scramble. Barrera still holding onto the single but Saunders with stout take down defense and now their clinched up against the fence again. Saunders with a HUGE knee!! Barrera now falls to his knees still looking for the take down but Saunders almost locks in an anaconda choke and then transitions to Barrera’s back and he has one hook in. 2 minutes left. Vicious elbow to the temple by Saunders. Saunders now going for an armbar but Barrera slips out and is now on top in Saunders rubber guard. Barrera postures up and lands a huge right on Saunders but Saunders stays calm and is right back with full guard. The pace is slowing a bit. Thats the round. A very close one could go either way but id give it to Saunders due to his multiple submission attempts.

Round two: Saunders with a stiff right, but Barrera capitalizes and gets a double leg take down and has his back but Saunders transitions to full guard instantly great defense and flexibility by Saunders. Saunders attempts a triangle but Barrera avoids it and now the pace has really slowed alot. The ref now stands the, up. Saunders with a HUGE flying knee and he just grazes Barrera. Barrera with a take down but Saunders transitions immediately and now has a over under position. Saunders then rolls Barrera over and almost gets an arm bar but Barrera slips out and is now on top in Saunders full guard again. The ref stands them up again. MONSTER HEAD KICK BY SAUNDERS!!!! Barrera looks rocked!!! Saunders now in north south position and dropping in some sharp solid right hands. Saunders with the back now and lands a huge elbow then tries for a arm bar but the bell rings. Saunders definitely gets that round.

Round three: Saunders with a great body kick then a solid right cross that lands flush. Barrera with a sloppy take down attempt and now Saunders takes his back and has both hooks in. Saunders with a body triangle now looking for a rear naked choke. Barrera with good wrist control. Saunders is relentless with his attempts to lock in that choke. Saunders now is using a body triangle to flatten out Barrera and lands some good elbows and punches. Barrera finally slips out and reverses and ends up on top but Saunders gets full guard instantly. The ref stands them up again. Saunders lands another picture perfect body kick and now lands 2 vicious knees to the body from north south position. Barrera still looking for a double leg but Saunders defense is perfect and now Saunders is raining down some great rib shots. Thats the bell. Saunders won that round and most likely the fight. This fight was nothing like the first it was a ground war and Saunders ju jitsu was much better than I would have ever thought, he was actively looking for submissions and had great take down and ground defense. Barrera was game and kept coming but Saunders was just obvious in a higher class and he should have a very bright future in 170 with his height (6-3), long limbs, sharp striking, and solid ju jitsu.

Final Result: Ben Saunders def. Dan Barrera via Unanimous Decision

I am really looking forward to this main event as well as seeing Mac Danzig be crowned the winner of TUF 6. This card will hopefully shape up nicely once the final episodes air and we get to find out who fighters such as Ben, Tommy, and Matt Arroyo will be fighting. I am still assuming/predicting that the finals will be Mac vs George.

no way mac has the expirience on him, besides Mac is always very calm and is used to fighting a big name, yeah mac got outworked by sakurai but, i dont think ben saunders has the jitters brushed off yet, that aside i still think mac would win 4 out of 5 times. Mac is pretty good and very impressive in the show

Ben better keep his quarterfinal fight standing. If it goes to the ground and Tommy starts dropping bombs on him, he’s in trouble.

Off the subject:

With David Heath vs Andre Gusmao

@ urbantulsa.com

their is an interview with Heath where he talks about this passed summer’s ufc74 fight with babalu.

here’s a snip..

“I don’t think he was trying to be disrespectful but it just kind of caught me off guard- somebody really trying to intimidate me. It kinda got my blood boiling a little bit. I got back in his face. It got a little heated. Some words were said.

“What I said, I really didn’t mean it disrespectfully. It was just kind of a heat-of-the-moment thing. I think if it wasn’t a cultural difference there- I don’t think it would have been taken as disrespectful as he took it. Shit happens. Whatever,” Heath recalled.

Fireworks-a-plenty and they’re still at the weigh-ins. Rumors floated around the Internet about an alleged T-shirt worn by Heath displaying a mug shot of Babalu.

“Absolutely not. Any person who says I did that– tell them to produce a picture of it. Show me a picture,” Heath said adamantly. A fan did give Heath a similar T-shirt but, “it never saw the light of day,” he confirmed.

The fight itself didn’t go the way Heath planned. Babalu ended the clash by choking Heath out at the 3:30 mark of the second round. Sobral applied an anaconda choke. He held the choke approximately five seconds after Heath had tapped. The referee forcibly removed Babalu from around Heath’s neck.

The adrenaline-filled Brazilian was interviewed by Joe Rogan minutes after the fight. Babalu admitted holding the choke longer than normal– “to teach (Heath) a lesson.” The real teacher, the UFC, taught the student, Babalu, a real lesson. His $25,000 win bonus was withheld by the Nevada Athletic State Commission and the UFC released him from contractual duties.

“Not to take away from his performance because he showed up motivated and did a great job but anybody who knows me and trained with me knows that there were factors going into that fight. I just would like to fight him down the road under different circumstances. Simply because I know I can beat him,” Heath said.

The Brazilian has released scripted statements. The type of apology that reads more like, “Sorry I lost out on money and the UFC deal” than “Sorry I held the choke.” His camp has made no attempt to reach Heath’s. Heath doesn’t seem to care.

“I think everyone expects me to have a grudge against Babalu. Be angry at him personally. And I’m not. As far as his actions, I think that’s his business. When I tapped after that choke, it was a subconscious tap that I don’t remember doing. The last thing I remember thinking was I knew I was caught and I remember just laying my arm down to go to sleep,” he said of the seconds before he went night-night.

“As soon as I laid my arm down, you can see on the video it comes back up and taps. I don’t remember that,” he said. “He got up and admitted to (holding the choke) which, again- his business. That caused him a lot of problems and really put a negative light on the sport that I wish he hadn’t done.”

Say what you will about Roger, but by now everyone should know that Guida is the real deal. Anyone who beats tyson (that’s right guida won that fight) is at the top of the food chain. I’d love to see Florian get his ass handed to him by the likes of Guida, Tyson, or Edger. Edger, by the way, should be next in line for a title shot. I don’t see anyone, including BJ, standing in his way. Roger has good standup, but he’s never gone against anyone as stong as Clay.

Guida via unanimous decision.

Today is the 28th and in the episode that airs tonight, we will see the last quarter finals match up between Tommy and Ben. Next wednesday will be December 5th, I assume that they will show both semi finals fights in that episode….and the finale is 3 days later. That means we wont find out who will fight in the finals until 3 days before the event.

Did I get all that right?

Its kinda cool finding out who is in the finals and then the finals is only 3 days later….The show was taped a while ago, I wonder how they kept the results under wraps so long without it getting leaked? Kinda kool!

I agree. I am a big fan of Ben since his first fight, especially because of the fact that he giggles like a nerdy cartoon character when he gets punched in the face. The more you hit him, the more he laughes.

I know its different weight classes, but can you imagine how a fight would go between Ben Saunders and Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

Oh, you can find the results on the internet if you wanted to… I don’t think that Dana should get any credit for keeping the results under wraps. Its the people like Mania that run these websites and moderate and delete comments that contain spoilers. Good job of keeping the secret Mania!!!!!!! Just curious, do you know who is in the finals???… I dont because I think it is dumb for a fan to purposely research to find out who is in the finals – it ruins your viewing experience of the episodes. I would think that someone here would have ruined the surprise for you.

THAT’s what I referred to in a post after his fight, I’m surprised more people didn’t comment on that… Ben’s one creepy dude, said something in his interview before fighting Dan, about taking him out in the fight, then taking care of his house, his horses, his fiancee and giggling like a hyena.

here’s a snip..
Any person who says I did that— tell them to produce a picture of it.
Babalu admitted holding the choke longer than normal— “to teach (Heath) a lesson.” The real teacher, the UFC, taught the student, Babalu, a real lesson.
How is this a snip?
well cuz its not the entire interview.

I have an address to a stream of the HBO PPV broadcast of the Mayweather Hatton fight. You have to download some stuff. Takes 3 mins. Then 3 mins to buffer at the beginning.

http://4.livefooty.doctor-serv.com/sat8.12/Hatton_Mayweather.html

Follow the instructions. The HBO broadcast is LiveFooty10.

Hope I don’t get in trouble for posting this mania.

An excellent night of fights, Koppenhaver “war machine”, Rollins, man too good, Griffin/Bonnar style.
Troy knocking out hightower, awesome. Arroyo, Saunders, Goulet, Mitichyan, Sotieropolus, all winning awesome.
And Mac Danzig step 1 takedown/step 2 get back/ step 3 choke
too easy.

A flat out EXCELLENT night of fights. Mayweather/Hatton KISS MY ASS! This night of FREE FIGHTS smokes that 60 dollar no bang for the buck crap.

Nice to see Roman Mitichiyan submit Dorian so quickly. Gotta see it on UFC ON Demand when it comes. Dorian is an idiot. I’d like to see how bad his ground game was this time around.

I actually wanted to see Paul beat Goulet ’cause I can’t stand Goulet. Oh well. Good win for the road warrior, i guess.

Good victory for Rude Boy. He’s got a nice victory celebration too. Hightower is no pushover. He did land some nice punches, but took some hard ones that sucked the cardio right out of him, including the jab that knocked him down. I hope they bring him back.

One guy I hope they DON’T bring back is Billy Miles. He is an absolute disgrace. He’s all bark and no bite. I’d rather see Bowman (is he hurt right now?) fight Georgie boy instead of miles. Miles sucked against Kolosci and still looked bad this fight. Bowman would have at least landed SOME shots. Good win for George. He’s a good one.

Good win for Ben Saunders too. Barrera showed some good heart, though.

Matt Arroyo is awesome. Another great submission victory for him. he’s a star in the making. I’d hate to say this about John, but he should stick to his fulltime job.

Did anybody during the show lay a scratch on mac? That had to be the most dominating run by a TUF contestant on the show EVER. Great stuff. Hot girlfriend too.

J-Roc/War Machine….one of the best fights ever. Pure heart by war machine in the end. J-Roc looked a lot better this fight. They better bring him back for at least one more. These two guys put on a better show than mayweather/hatton. they both deserve fight of the night and the 40 grand that comes with it.

Huerta/Guida…another one of the best fights ever. A FURIOUS PACE! An EXCELLENT win for Huerta. Frickin’ GREAT fight. this fight is also fight of the night worthy. give huerta,guida,j-roc and war machine each 40 grand. they deserve it.

All in all, one of the best fight cards ever, maybe the best. excellent fights and tremendous memorable moments. Screw PPV Boxing. a Free night of excellent fights?

HELL YEAH!

Anyone else surprised by hightower? He was doing pretty damn good in my opion he just winded himself a little to fast you could see it at the end of the round right as he got TKO’d. I did not think Mac was going to beat Tommy by tap out I thought it would go to the cards. War Machine vs Jrock, that was a good fight I love to see a blood bath when both fighters go all out. Billy the kid looked alot better then his 1st fight in The Ultimate Fighter but wasnt near good enough to take george. I really wanted to see George in the finals. George vs Mac would of been a very good fight, much better then Mac Vs Tommy. My final words I LOVE the 155 pound wieght class. Clay Guida vs. Roger Huerta that was a great fight. Right before the begining of round 3 Roger Huerta had a little grin on his face and I knew he was going to come looking for the finisher and he found it.

PS. I have a very STRONG feeling that Rampage Jackson will be the other coach of “The Ultimate Fighter 7″. Forrest Vs Rampage for the title I’m looking forward to that!!!

Man! I can’t believe Huerta pulled it off! Not on;y beating him but finishing him as well. HUerta has great composure. I thought they were gonna stop it at the end of the second. I want Huerta to fight for the title now but I don;t think it would be fair to Ken Flo.
Did Ken flo say anything the entire fight?

I noticed that as well. I’m guessing that his retirement didn’t get the nod from Dana. He’s kind of a “my way or the highway” kind of guy.

Sucio, you just lost your house! I had the same pick though…man, Guida is a maniac! He easily had the first two rounds. Huerta knew he had to do something in the third round. He came out with determined look on his face in round three. War Machine and J-rock had a great fight! Matt Hughes said he picked GSP in part because he knew GSP would not get a full 3 months training. Sounds like Matt is losing confidence in himself….? He may think he’s getting a GSP that’s not fully prepared, but I think GSP will win. IT WILL NOT GO TO THE JUDGES SCORECARDS!

what a division, it sucks the title has been in limbo for so long, but its good they stripped sherk and have two legit contenders on deck to get the division rolling quickly. We have alot of great title fights to happen over the next couple of years. Between Huerta, Florian, Guida, Griffen, Sherk, Edgar, Danzig, Penn, Stevenson, Diaz, Franca, and even Fisher we have plenty of possible combinations of serious contenders.

Roger Huerta came awfully damn close to losing his first fight tonight. Guida is every bit the maniac I thought he was and he gave Huerta everything he could handle. Huerta, to his immense credit, answered the third round bell with a look on his face that told me he’d finally gotten angry enough to take control of the situation. You gotta love guys with heart. It takes some real nads to come back like Huerta did tonight.

So, are the Huerta haters quieted, or do they now say his finish was lucky?
God damn, you’d think Huerta did nothing in that fight by your PBP. You didn’t acknowledge 80% of what Huerta did!!!

I agree that Guida won rounds one and two, but no way he dominated Huerta at any point in that fight.
Well, most of Huerta’s kicks and punches were blocked. Guida is deceptive because you see his hair whipping around everywhere, makes you think he’s hit when he’s not. Huerta did do some damage, but he was mostly doing damage control with Guida taking him down and stuffing him on the ground.
Guida maybe didn’t totally dominate, but he was certainly in control (taking him down pretty much every attempt).

3rd round was intense. I think I’d have crapped my pants had I seen huerta come out against me with that look in his face. Both those fighters had amazing heart, and you have to wonder how good Huerta really is. He keeps rising to the occasion.

Excellent fights, wow most of the fights were riveting, the back and forth was awesome. Mac and tom’s fight which I though was going to be very competitive was the most one sided, mac proved skill can overcome strength. To be honest I wasn’t really all that excited about watching these fights but I really can’t remember a card in recent memory where there was such a hight percentage of exciting fights.

BEST FIGHT was War Machine vs J-Rock. War’s head has to be killing him today. I can’t believe he lasted through all those elbows.

LMAO@Billy looking a lot better this fight. He still sucked big time. he’s a disgrace to MMA and should not be brought back for another shot.

Man Great Fights!!! I’ll give the fight of the night nod to war and j-rock, but guida/huerta was damn good too. I was jumping up and down after war’s fight. I thought the dude was gassed and then he swept j-rock and pounded him out…AWESOME FIGHT.

HELL YEAH!
AS Skyard sanh You got that right about j fovk vs the heart of a Tiger Jon War machine!
