News Flash people...To compete in a sport like MMA you always have heart, you have to have it. "He's got a lot of heart" this is the most OVERUSED and lamest comment on this site! If your favorite fighter has only heart than he doesn't stand a chance, read the names of the fighters on the left side of this page, they all have heart. Skill, agility, listening to your corner, ability to think on your feet and common sense play a major role.

I like an exciting fight, hell who doesn't? But when you back a guy like Jorge Gurgel and his only attribute in the fight game is "He's got a ton of heart" it's a sad day for you and for him because he just won't make it in this sport!
Whoa hold up....He has got more than heart. He has like 8 Brazilian Ju jitsu schools or something...He just rather bang it out and be entertaining than take it to the ground. Yes I will admit it...Stupid, However very entertaining..and in my book that makes him OK with me. He is the perfect gate keeper for 155 lb division.

Throw him to huerta
I don't see Corey Hill ever being a factor in the LW division. By the way, how old is he, I don't remember, isn't he like 26 or something? I don't know. I think someone that has never trained in a single discipline and hasn't been in at least 100 'underground fights' or 'street fights' can even consider picking up MMA, especially at the UFC caliber, as a hobby. To be honest with you all, I think that if Corey Hill was fighting someone ranked in the Top 15 of the division, that his LIFE would be in danger. MMA is not a sport that you just play around. If he's looking to have fun and play, pick up bowling.

Of course a 6'4" LW makes for an interesting match up, but he has ZERO skill and his goofy style makes Rashad's style look text book. Can you imagine Corey Hill fighting Sean Sherk? There would be a 1 foot hight advantage that wouldn't even be a factor. Corey would be on the ground bleeding perfusely until he tapped, the ref stopped the fight, or he bled to death.

Don't get me wrong, I will be rooting for Corey because I find him entertaining, but in more of a spectacle way.
Actually I am pretty sure he is 28 or 29 years old. I could be wrong though. He didnt even mknow who jeremy Horn was... curious to see his fight as well.... they gave him a chump, so if he cant beat this guy, he aint beating anybody.

Hill has plenty of ground game and being a champion wrestler to boot. When someone like J Horn rolls around with a guy and says that He sees limitless potenial and asks ole "Buddy Rowe" to train with him should be a clue as to what Corey's capable of! DUH!

Jorge Gurgel vs. John Havelson (you know that one guy who got his ass whooped by Roger Huerta in like 12 seconds?)

UFC 82.

YES!!!

Team Gurgel. Now we need Rich Franklin.
Is this a joke? The UFC can't seriously be thinking about running Gurgel out against anyone can they? He spent 10 minutes as a punching bag to a guy that Kill-Flo destroyed in the first round. And Halverson's career in the UFC took less time than it took me to pour my beer into a glass. If I wanted to see 15 minutes of slapping and hair-pulling I'd go to a low-class nudie joint.
I dunno what your beef is with Gurgel. The guy always has exciting fights and always pours his soul out for the crowd. Sure, his gameplan is stupid, but he does always have a good fights, and an incredible heart.
NC-17: Great point...gurgel isnt the smartest fighter but he has one of the biggest hearts. I think he is so conscious about putting on a good show for the fans, that he throws out his game plan and tries to make it exciting...causing him to become a punching bag (in some occasions), however this guy is a warrior, and he is one of the few fighters who wants to put on a good show for us, than to win..... Gotta repect Gurgel!

You got to be kidding me Mr. NC-17! You said that he was this winner, who chooses to stand and bang because he wants to please the fans and he has as much heart, if not more than Randy Couture, matter of fact I said he maybe the stupidest fighter in the UFC and you said he wasn't stupid! So now he just thinks stupidly? Dude, you can't be wishy-washy about your comments, you will lose credibility and face, but then again Champ, you're the guy that said that winning TUF wasn't a big deal and you could have made it to the finals!

In 1997, the Springstead alum capped one of the area's best wrestling careers by winning a second straight state title. He was perfect his final two seasons as an Eagle. He was Springstead's first All-American and, at 6 feet, 4 inches and 150 pounds, an athletic prodigy.

"He was a baaaaad boy," said Bob Levija, his high school coach. "He could have wrestled anywhere in college. He was that good."

Corey Hill 28 years old.

VM, what's up?.. what do you mean never training in a single discipline? and what's this about training in at least 100 underground fights?..lol you're kidding right?

Corey Hill was a stud wrestler... many tough MMA fighters and champions come from wrestling backgrounds without any other types of experience... I could name quite a few, but hey, maybe you n' Chuck were out partying and were hitting nyquil shots or something... you get a pass on that one.

By the way, how old is he, I don’t remember, isn’t he like 26 or something? I don’t know. I think someone that has never trained in a single discipline and hasn’t been in at least 100 ‘underground fights’ or ’street fights’ can even consider picking up MMA, especially at the UFC caliber, as a hobby. To be honest with you all, I think that if Corey Hill was fighting someone ranked in the Top 15 of the division, that his LIFE would be in danger. MMA is not a sport that you just play around. If he’s looking to have fun and play, pick up bowling.

Of course a 6′4″ LW makes for an interesting match up, but he has ZERO skill and his goofy style makes Rashad’s style look text book. Can you imagine Corey Hill fighting Sean Sherk? There would be a 1 foot hight advantage that wouldn’t even be a factor. Corey would be on the ground bleeding perfusely until he tapped, the ref stopped the fight, or he bled to death.

Don’t get me wrong, I will be rooting for Corey because I find him entertaining, but in more of a spectacle way.
VM, what’s up?.. what do you mean never training in a single discipline? and what’s this about training in at least 100 underground fights?..lol you’re kidding right?

Corey Hill was a stud wrestler… many tough MMA fighters and champions come from wrestling backgrounds without any other types of experience… I could name quite a few, but hey, maybe you n’ Chuck were out partying and were hitting nyquil shots or something… you get a pass on that one.
