Kenny Florian

Quoteworthy:

“[I’ll fight next] Probably February or March. Based on what happens in the next two weeks, we’ve got some lightweight matches. Hopefully it will be a tough, top guy…. Absolutely [When asked about fighting the winner of Roger Huerta and Clay Guida]. Two great fighters in both Huerta and Guida. They’ve been doing some phenomenal things in the division. They’re both very exciting fighters. What excites me is that I want to fight a guy that’s really going to come and be aggressive and fight me. Those are fights that I’d really love to have.”

Lightweight contender Kenny Florian reveals that he could possibly fight an opponent based on what happens in the next two weeks. Roger Huerta and Clay Guida will scrap during the main event at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Finale on December 8, which would set up a great 155-pound clash in 2008 (UFC 81 or UFC 82) and possibly determine a number one contender if the Sean Sherk situation continues to stall.

This is very good news to me, Kenny can handle any of these guys easily!

Much respect to all of them though, all three are very good competitors.

I hope the winner of these will be Huerta, but I guess that’s never gonna happen, oh well… as long the fight is good I don’t care!

Hi Josh, hope you’re right.

Yes we have to stay positive, Huerta has what it takes to win.

Sanchez - Florian 2 sounds superb… Florian win by feeding his tasty elbows right in the kisser of Sanchez and receives a good round of applause. *Dana White dancing*

This would be the end of the road for either Huerta or Guida! Florian has realised his game was in serious need of change. After the battle with Sherk Florian has demonstrated a constant and relentless pace. The trade mark of the light weight division. With that and his tight game he will find a way to melt Huerta or Guida who have more wholes than swiss cheese. Huerta gets his back taken and can be wrekless…Guida cant stay away from stiff jabs and does not know how to end a fight.

Huerta and Guida are both great fighters, but don’t match up well with Florian. Like Super Cal stated, Huerta often times gives up his back, and gets away with it. With Kenny’s jiu-jitsu, he’s not likely to get away with it. And Guida’s tendency for 3 round wreckless abandon fights, as exciting as they are, would probably be stopped by Kenny’s technical skills. Still, you know UFC is hoping for a Huerta win against Guida to setup a match between him and Florian to get ready for a belt challenger. And judging what Diego Sanchez said after the Fitch loss, he’s considering either putting more muscle on his frame, or just dropping to 155. That would certainly add an instant contender to the division.

Yeah, I think he has what it takes. I’m excited about the LW division. It has a superstar (BJ) that will probably hold the belt for a while and give the title some prestige, and then there’s a bunch of up-and-coming stars for him to pass the torch too.

i think this is funny for the simple fact that i think Huerta and Guida are both better than ken-flo. Florian is way over rated and that would have been show if din thomas had’nt blew his knee out.Florian thinks he is the badest 155er out there and is out of his wig.thought it was funny when he says when Joe Silva calls and ask you to fight, you better pray it aint Kenny Florian.Ha ha ha ha ha.That makes him look really cocky and he looks like and asshole. So to conclude Huerta or Guida, does’nt matter, either will kick his azz. Can’t wait to see it.

I don’t think Huerta is as good as either Florian or Guida. I’d love to see a Guida/Florian fight. Kenny has reinvented himself since that loss to Sherk, and it will be interesting to see how far he can extend this run in the lightweight division.

Kenny would beat Huerta because the fight would go to the ground. Huerta doesnt have the ground game that kenny has. Like the others said Huerta gives up his back too much. Guida has a much better ground game then Huerta and i see Guida by TKO in 2nd round.

kenflo vs guida would be amazing. kenflo vs huerta? meh. guida has proven himself, as has kenflo…however huerta has not. his fight with guida will be informative and give him a more solid ranking, win or lose.

as for guida vs. huerta…i think guida takes this 10 times out of 10. he’s too relentless, has a great chin, and his scrambles are some of the best in the sport. huerta is going to have a rough night in my opinion.

I don’t know about submitting either one of them! Both Huerta and Guida can both grapple, they are both extremely versatile on the ground. I haven’t seen either one get put into a bad position and stay there like a lot of the guys that Ken-Flo has fought. Florian is a bad dude but he’s in for a dog fight against these guys, Huerta and Guida are the real deal.

SuperCal: very well said, I completely agree with this whole post. Florian is in his PRIME, guida and huerta aren’t. Its as simple as that. Florian wins. Just to Hungry, experienced, skilled, and intelligent of a fighter to loose to 2 up and comming fighters like Huerta and Guida. Anything can happen, and I expect a hell of a fight, but I dont think either will beat Florian at this point in his career.

I wouldnt mind seeing that fight. But has anyone herd anything about Diego. I havent herd a peek out of his or his camp since his 2nd loss in a row (Fitch). The fighter of destiny has been humbled after his 2nd loss in a row. I wonder how Diego “the headcase” Sanchez will recover mentally.

It will be interesting to see, and if he can get his career back on track, Diego vs. Huerta will be a big moneymaker for the UFC.
Live from the “barrio” in Mexico, 2 chicano’s scrapping it out!

Someone said that Florian would get worked by Sanchez, but, as everyones been saying, Florian is a much different fighter than then. Added to the fact that he was 2 weight classes above his norm, its no wonder he got stomped. I still think Sanchez will beat him, but it would be by decision. Diego would tap out Guida, and Sanchez-Huerta would be Fight of the Year caliber. Huerta takes this one to Guida though. 19-1 doesn’t come easy. Huerta by decision.

The KenFlo/Huerta/Guida winner might fight Daddy/Penn winner for the title… what about Frankie Edgar?

Lightweight is definitely very crowded with talent. I think Middleweight has a lot of talent too but the big difference is Anderson Silva cleaning everyone out. If BJ Penn stays at LW and crushes all challengers then people will probably be complaining about how weak LW is.

WAR CARPENTER. I am taking nothing away from Huerta in this fight, he’s tough, but don’t “Houston Alexander” him ( i was guilty of that hype machine too).

He’s tough, but in my opinion He hasn’t seen a Clay Guida yet.
I think Clay will heart this battle out, but this could be a fight that leaves everybody shell shocked.

FLoria v/ either is sweet. I just think Roger needs some more experience, he needs the NAME win, which i suppose he would get against Guida. LW is insane right now.

I consider Frankie Edgar above Rank then all of the fighters mentioned with his win over Spencer. Aside from Ken-Flo.

That’s an intersting thought about Florian versus Sanchez now… at 155lbs… first I don’t know if Sanchez can make 155lbs.. that would be a brutal cut for him it would take him a long time to do it right, he would have to lose a lot of muscle on top of a lot of water… Florian has made much more improvement in MMA than Sanchez and Florian’s standup game his vastly superior… however IMO Florian’s weakness is superior wrestlers with great GnP which I think Sanchez has. It would be a much better fight between them than their first fight in the TUF final. I say Diego wins though by decision.
