josh koscheck
Welterweight contender Josh Koscheck (9-2) will return to action at UFC 82 at the Nationwide Arena on March 1, joining American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) teammate Jon Fitch on the Columbus, Ohio, fight card.

Opponents have been discussed to face the former NCAA Division I wrestling champion, but no bout agreements have been signed at this time.

“Kos” is hungry and determined to get back on the winning track after his unanimous decision loss to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 74: “Respect” back in August. His goal is to rattle off a flurry of wins early in 2008 to ensure that his name is among the 170-pound title contenders as soon as possible.

He’s also looking forward to training with Fitch and competing on the same card, according to MMAmania.com (www.mmamania.com) sources, something that has happened only twice before. In addition, he’ll be fighting literally a stones throw away from his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., which provides even more motivation to perform at a high level.

We’ll provide further updates later in the week or early next about a potential opponent. In the meantime, check out the latest UFC 82 fight card right here.

Great card taking shape already.

In the weeds: This is the final fight on the original 10-fight contract that Koscheck signed as a member of the first season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) back in 2005. All such contracts expire in April 2008.

It would have been cheaper. I’ll take that as a compliment.

It wont be sanchez, cause he at 155, BUT! Koscheck, does probably want a tough fight, so if Karo is still ducking! Fitch, maybe he’ll fight Fitch’s partner.

Koscheck vs Parsyin. I would like to see karo get wats comin to him.

Koscheck vs Ficket 2. I think Koscheck would win, but Ficket is fun to watch.

Koscheck vs Alves. THat would be a wicked awsome fight, Alves is so strong, and has wicked kicks and knees, agaisnt koschecks wild punches.

Koscheck vs Burkman. To have those two fight would be crazy now with them both being so young, but it would be a hell of a fight.

I’d love to see Kos vs. Karo - but if Davis gets a W and wants a quick fight after UFC 80 - that would make a great matchup…cheers.

As much as I dislike the guy, Kos is a vastly underpaid fighter. UFC owes him a big raise. And I second the Kos/Karo proposal. That would be excellent.

Woah, the entire cast of TUF 1 has their contracts expire April 2008? No wonder the UFC has been telling Randy, Arlovski, and company to go to hell with their demands for more money. Thats a lot of slave laborers who are suddenly going to be making a ton more money.

Not going to happen dude. They’re not willing to tear their gym in half for a single fight. I think one of them will get Karo, probably Fitch if Karo will take the fight, but I’m not sure who they give to the other one. Too bad Jake Shields signed with EliteXC again! I would love to see Fitch beat up on Nick Diaz, but he just extended with XC again only to lose to KJ Noons - yeah, who!? All that after calling Fitch and a bunch of other guys p&^sies! Maybe they’ll pair up Kos and Alves?

How about Let’s Go KOS !!!
Everyone was bad mouthing and talking bad about Kos, ( GSP is my favorite fighter by the way) I knew he would be back and ready to give it to whoever gets in his way…( except GSp of course)
KOS is well on his way to the top !!!

AKA or not… I REALLY want to see Koscheck vs Fitch… Everybody knows that would be an awesome fight. If they keep winning they will inevitably have to fight each other…

How about Kos vs the loser of Hughes & Serria to put him at the end of the line for title shot behind GSP, Karo and Fitch with Sanchez floating around too. Not to mention BJ when he decides to come back up to 170s. Crazy whgt class!!!

I like Marcus Davis and what about Mike Swick/swick against Thiago Alves.
I think Swick would be a good victory for Fitch, koscheck or parisyean if they we’re to win.

Throw Marcus Davis in there to face KOS. I’d like to see who would come out on top.

I think the only reason KOS and Fitch won’t fight each other is cuz they are probably making sweet, sweet love to one another.

Fights to weed out the middle of the pack :

1. Koscheck vs. Karo
2. Marcus Davis vs. Josh Burkman
3. Thiago Alves vs. Mike Swick
4. Diego Sanchez vs. Roan Carniero

Stylistically they all match up well and are similar, except for the Koscheck / Karo fight in which Josh will take him down at will.

Kos vs Burkman or Gono. He will win either one. Fitch vs Karo makes more sense than Karo vs Kos. Too bad we cant see kos vs Fitch, but that isnt gonna happen.

Kos vs Karo will make a good fight cause Fitch in my opinion could get the winner of GSP vs Serra/Hughes. Meaning Fitch with the next for a title shot after GSP. Then a inshape Karo vs Kos for the next title shot after that. That lines up the welter weights division for about a half year, and gives alot of good fights

Agreed. Kos vs. Karo because Fitch beat Sanchez who beat Karo, so don’t want to see that one… yet. Fitch is ready for a title shot and Kos and Karo should see who rounds out the top 5.

You guys dont have a clue. There is no fighter in the division who can withstand the relentless take down and wreastling skills of my boy KOS. But if anyone is ready for the challenge well GSP should fight him again because he got lucky

KOS VS FITCH BEFORE EITHER DESERVES ANOTHER TITLE SHOT (I KNOW TECHNICALLY KOS / GSP WASNT A TITLE FIGHT) AND I THINK KOS HAS TO GET THRU SANCHEZ AGAIN AS WELL AFTER THE BEATING HE GOT FROM ALVES

kos would destroy burkman, karo, and, t alves. You guys must not know alot about the domination of a world class wrestler who can also stand and grapple with such superior strength and skill. He just cant be touched in that weight class. but dont let him drop fifteen pounds and hold 2 world titles in 2 weight classes. remeber he is a wrestler and can drop weight as effectivly as the great tito ortiz. if kos would roll with PUNISHMENT then even he would be at a level higher than he already is.
