ummm Frankie did outbox tyson griffin the whole fight fyi. If frankie was afraid to stand and trade with fisher then fisher was equally afraid to be active on the ground and risk bad position against frankie for fear of the potential damage. A guy can be just as afraid of the ground game as the stand up...

Phenom, should I appolologize for analyzing the fight better than you could, or do you go to sleep every night jerkin it to Frankie Edgar and my post hurt your feelings??

Which is it?? It HAS to be one or the other.

Phenom, watch mma, there is waaaay more to mma than the ufc. I'm sorry you never heard of the likes of Urijah Faber, Chase Beebe, or Jeff Curran; it's only your loss - if you are truely a mma fan.
Think of what a fight between him and Sherk would be like. Two overpowering wrestlers going at each other. Would it be the most boring fight in history? Or would it be fun to watch a very active grappling match? I don't know. I am probably the only person who likes watching Sean Sherk's fights, so my opinion if most likely in the minority.
I personally think that Sean Sherk would dominate a fight against Frankie Edgar. Sherk is just so much bigger and stronger. Sherk fought mostly at 170, while Edgar fought at 145. It would be too much of a strength advantage for Sherk.
Also, a little MMA math lol.. Tyson Griffin is the only fighter to ever defeat Faber, and Frankie beat Tyson. I know MMA math doesn't mean much, but in this case, to whoever was saying Faber is out of his league, think again. I personally cannot recognize one name in the list of Faber's past opponents (except Tyson Griffin who he lost to by TKO).
Do you just watch the UFC? If not, than do you watch a MMA league that has a featherweight division? Because if not, OF COURSE you haven't heard of any of Urijah Faber's opponents - you never seen a featherweight fight. MMMmath does not work. I think that Urijah Faber would defeat Frankie Edgar, rather easily. Edgar would NOT be able to take Faber down at will, Faber is a phenominal wrestler as well, and actually looks bigger at 145 than Frankie does at 155. Also, you can't even compare Edgar and Faber's standup. Faber has lightning fast hands with KO power. Edgar posses neither. (Frankie's hands are no where as explosive and powerful as Tyson Griffin's either). Also, Faber has better BJJ skills and has been training MMA much longer. Frankie comes into his fights with one edge - wrestling. If he was to fight Faber, he would not have any edge whatsoever.

Champion - Sean Sherk

1. BJ Penn
2. Joe Stevenson
3. Kenny Florian
4. Tyson Griffen (I feel his wins over Guida and Tavares qualify him, tough fight and loss to Edgar but more well rounded)
5. Roger Huerta (Could Edgar beat him ? I think not)
6. Frank Edgar
7. Spencer Fischer
8. Clay Guida
9. Melvin Guillard (The climb back to the top I love it)
10. Thiago Tavares (for you over hyping knuckle heads lol)
It seems to me hardly anyone here watched his fight with Tyson Griffin. Edgar has very good wrestling, and solid boxing as well. He would tool Faber just like Griffin did, if not worse. And if you think his fight with Fisher was lay and pray you are watching the wrong sport. Boxing, kickboxing, toughman competitions, and "ouch my balls" could use some more fans. You should help out with that

I hope to see him against Florian. Bocek has solid submission skills and couldn't do anything to Edgar, but he isn't on Florian's level mma-wise
I agree, Tyson beat Faber, I think Frankie would beat him in similar fashion. Although I have to add with teh entertainment aspect that that was mostly Griffin's doing, not Frankies. But to will be following Frankie real close, one of the best up and comers in LW. Give him a name already, like Florian.

I must admit, I did think Frankie was a little Sherk-esque in this fight, but please don't call Frankie a boring fighter. He is not. The only reason he was not able to inflict a ton of damage on the ground was because of Fisher's guard. Fisher did a good job of slipping into guard everytime it got passed. Other than that, he straight up demolished Fisher. Fisher couldn't do ANYTHING the entire fight.

And don't say Frankie can't finish fights either.. He's fought 3 times in the UFC with 1 TKO and 2 UD's, but the UD's were against Tyson Griffin, a future contender, and Spencer Fisher!! Come on. You have to take into account the level of talent he's fought. The UFC did not put him up against low level fighters off the bat.

Also, a little MMA math lol.. Tyson Griffin is the only fighter to ever defeat Faber, and Frankie beat Tyson. I know MMA math doesn't mean much, but in this case, to whoever was saying Faber is out of his league, think again.
how come a lot of people are saying frankie is a boring fighter, in previous blogs people were saying all his fights were exciting. can you blame the guy for using a smart game plan to get the win? sure if if stood with fischer more, it could have been more exciting, but it also could have been a blemish to his perfect record. lets see how his next fight goes before you start comparing him to sherk fights. my bet is he finishes his next opponent via TKO strikes

I tried to watch that fight with urijah versus griffin at 155lbs, but it's been pulled... Urijah is at 145 lb he walks around at 152 lbs (always proper diet and training)... Everyone loses... if Urijah goes up in weight I think he's at a small disadvantage... if they 'can' come down in weight I think it puts urijah at a small advantage. Everyone loses, urijah didn't lose to some chump... at least he lost to another little monster fighter. I don't see Edgar tooling' urijah at 145lbs... but that's probably a fight that will never happen.
