Quoteworthy:

“For now I don’t have anything solid, I’m hoping to get a fight before the end of this year…. I would love to kick [Rampage's] ass…. [Houston Alexander] is a pretty good striker, and I’m looking forward to facing him in a near future…. And I’ll be back not in the ring but in the cage DEC 29th in Vegas!”

Coveted light heavyweight free agent Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou — who boasts impressive stoppages of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona — mentions in a recent interview that he is unsure of his next fight. Moments later he throws out December 29, which is the date for UFC 79: “Nemesis” at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to these latest statements it was believed that the :African Assassin” was headed for the K-1 organization. It’s going to be very interesting to see how this situation unfolds.

Maybe Hendo vs. Sokoudjou.

Hendo is also rumored on the card, but also reports are saying he is fighting at 185..

Maybe they are wrong?

Who knows.

This is a great pick up by the UFC.

They train together, and Hendo handles Soku’s ‘business..’

This is another fighter that needs to get in the Octagon ASAP. Without stepping up and fighting SOON, he is gonna get rusty, and his ‘legend’ is gonna be tainted.

This would be a great addition to the LHW division. I like Soku. Hope he signs with UFC.
I would like to see him fight the winner of Bisping/Evans, or maybe Machida for his first UFC fight.

This is absolutely fanstastic news to start the morning. However, it is widely known that he signed a contract with K-1. I, for one, don’t believe these UFC rumors; unless his K-1 contract is somehow now voided. Because if he is still signed with them, there is no way he can fight in the UFC.

Soko vs Houston would be the most entertaining 1 minute fight in UFC history!

I think it would be a bad mistake to put Bisping in the octagon with Soko. Bisping’s life would be on the line, and he would be in the hospital before the 3rd minute of the first round would have begun. Maybe you haven’t see him fight yet, but he is ‘kind of like’ a much younger Houston Alexander, BUT he is more well rounded and HE IS ONLY 23 YEARS OLD!!!! He posseses world class Judo skills and has serious KO power in his hands. Maybe a better comparison would have been Karo’s skills mixed with Houston’s mosterous KO power and physique, but even broader shoulders. He is also a becoming a good wrestler. Training with Dan Henderson and Team Quest is just going to turn this young beast into a killing machine. The sky is the limit for Sokodjou.

lol. yeah right. I love Soku fights.
Thanks anyway for the lesson.

You see(imo)
If? the UFC does sign Soku, they will probably have him fight a LHW that he has a good chance of beating. But the UFC will also want an opponant for Soku that is well known by fans, so they can promote a “up and coming” star properly. So thats why i was choosing Rashad or Bisping.
Unfortunatly not all UFC fans know who Soku is.
You are right about this being “fantastic” news!

And about Soku’s contract with k-1. It’s done..(he is a free-agent)
But that doesn’t mean he is officially a UFC fighter yet.

Randy you senile old bat…. please defend your title against Big Nog……..Dana and Randy better sit down like men and squash all the bullshit, Randy defend your Damn title….The heavyweight title is a HUGE honor… do not walk away from it, especially not at 44 years old….Enjoy it man, this could very easily be your last belt. Also defend it against Noguerra in one of the most technical heavyweight fights of all time, at least he wont have to deal with a huge heavyweight trying to knock his head off. Make another million dollars or so, then he would have 1 fight left, honor the contract and you can fight Fedor in 8 months!!!! Randy be the stand up man that you have always been, honor your last 2 fights and you will be fighting Fedor by this August!!!!!!! Maybe not in an octagon, but you will have a shot at him none the less! Although I dont see Rasndy beating Fedor in a ring!

P.S. Randy please dont bring your wife to the meeting… Grown men should discuss grown men business!! Leave the wife and kids at home!!!!!!!!!!

Also Note to Urijah Faber: Gain 10 lbs and step into the UFC LW division you talented little fruit fly! I am baffled as to how a MAN can weigh 145 lbs.

Soku vs. Houston in March………..I am getting all giddy n shit just thinking about it!

Wanderlei training with couture = trouble for the Iceman!

Also, dont be surprised if Karo looses to Ryo Chonan. Although very exciting, Karo doesn’t finish many fights and some say he lacks KO power. On the other hand Chonan is a freaking warrior, who unbelievably outstruck Anderson Silva for over 18 minutes. Silva blasted him with clean shots that no 1 in the UFC has been able to take. Those shots didnt even faze Ryo. Ryo has nasty kicks, ok strikes, very good submissions, and a pretty solid chin. For those who are about to jump on my last statement and tell me that Hendo Ko’ed Ryo…….yeah yeah I kno, but if Hendo connects with one of those wild haymakers, it will Ko anyone so theres no shame in that. The only way I see Karo winning is by decision, he will not submit or be able to ko or tko chonan, with that said, I see chonan finishing this fight before the 15 minute mark….

Tiago Silva is an extremely dangerous Kat and matches up great with Houston, the only thing is that Houston has that grown man strength (like Don Frye and old heads like that). I like tiago a lot but I see Houston by KO once again.

Rashad will win his fight if his head is in the right place. He cant come out gun shy like he did the 1st 2 rounds against Tito. If Suga shad (lol) comes out attacking and keeping pressure on the count, he will wear Bisping down to a victory via unanimus decision.

Ed herman will loose to Doerkson

and the fight of the night will be Spencer vs. Edgar. It will be a very close war, neither will finish the other..so I will give this fight to spencer by split decision. Edgar is extremely tough and talented, but Spencer is sooo well rounded and experienced that my money will be on Spencer!

Remember you all herd it here 1st. Chonan upsets Karo

All this event is really lacking is a big name. I can’t recall a single PPV that didn’t have at least one BIG name on the card. Seriously, Rashad Evans is the biggest name on this card. Sure, Houston is the hottest fighter, but he is NOT a marquee fighter that sells tickets as a main event status fighter. It really upsets me too, becuase the UFC probably won’t be around here for another 2 freaking years.

Imagine this card with the main event being Randy vs. Noguerra….it would have been amazing card, I would have definetly been there. Hopefully the UFC will start getting around here at least once a year, and if dana hurries up and wins the New York comission over….mma at Madison Square Garden! Does it get any better than that! I would make the trip to NY for sure!

Also when was the last time the UFC was in Atlantic City? A nice weekend trip to A.C featuring a saturday night UFC event would be great, especially since AC is like a 45 minute drive from me. UFC better start showing the TRI-state area some love. Its frustrating! I need to move!

Looks pretty good John. Here are my picks, as you had asked. I’m not going to go too overboard here, because I sure can, I’ll save that post for the day they post Jesse and a Top Maniac’s picks.

Karo/Chonan – This is going to be a wild crazy fight. Limbs and bodies flying everywhere. I expect it to get messy. For Therefore, I am going with Chonan winning by doctor stoppage due to cuts.

Houston Alexander/Thiago Silva – Houston Alexander by KO. I need to say no more. However, I would like to say something about Thiago. He too, is a monster. But is he as big of a monster as Houston, I don’t know.

Rashad/Bisping – I will be rooting for Rashad to win, but I will be more so rooting for one of them to get beaten down badly. As everyone knows, they both kind of deserve it. I want to see a convincing victory. I unfortunately see this fight going the distance, and after the Hamil fight, I don’t think Bisping is capable of pulling off a convicing victory. Rashad by decision.

Herman/Doerkson – Doerkson is a second rate fighter at best, more liek third rate. Whenever he takes a step up in competition, he loses. That’s why he is no longer in the UFC. His last fight was in the WEC and he lost to Paulo Filho, no shame in that, but he got KTFO by Paulo! It was only Paulo’s second win ever due to strikes! Most people are picking against Herman in this one, but not me, I’m picking Ed Herman to win by GnP.

Fisher/Edgar – I agree, that this will be fight of the night. John, you got me writing more than I was planning on for each fight, so for this one, I am simply going to pick Spencer Fisher by decision. He has far more experience than Edgar, even though Edgar holds a win over Griffin.

Have to disagree with this pick for a number of reasons.
1. Frankie will take spencer down at will
2. If Frankie chooses to stand and trade he is in a lot better shape than people think. His hands are very underrated (but not as good as fishers) and i think he can even finish Fisher on the feet.
3. The fight is in Jersey where frankie lives. Remember the last time a fight went to decision where an undefeated fighter fought in his backyard?

Spencer is larger than Edgar so he won’t take him down at will, although he will take him down. Once there though, Spencer can work his submissions. Edgar is still very new to the game and doesn’t train full time. Advantage: The King.

To address your 3rd point, just forget about Bisping already…
