Canadian Brazilian jiu-jitsu phenom Mark Bocek (4-1) will return to action inside the Octagon against Doug Evans (5-1) at UFC 79: “Nemesis” on December 29, according to MMAWeekly.com.
Both lightweights are looking to bounce back from the first losses in their careers the last time out.
Frank Edgar stopped Bocek via technical knockout with just five seconds remaining in round one at UFC 73: “Stacked” back in July. Evans, on the other hand, opened a few eyes with an impressive performance — albeit in a technical knockout loss — to Roger Huerta at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 Finale in June.
The 155-pound clash will most likely be featured on the undercard of the New Year’s Eve weekend pay-per-view (PPV) event from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra is booked to defend his title for the first time against former 170-pound champion, Matt Hughes, in the main event of the evening.
In addition, former MMA champions Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva will co-headline the show when the two finally meet in a light heavyweight megabout that has been years in the making.

Looking like a nice card is shaping up
2 hungry fighters? This one will be good.
This will be a wrestling clinic. I think Evans just out wrestles him all 3 rounds.
Evans is a fantastic wrestler, and I think that he can climb the charts of the lightweight division. I don’t think he could be a top 10 lightweight, but I think he could be a top 12.
Great News.
Evan Tanner signed a 4 fight deal with the UFC.
Mania I sent you the info!
Evans I thought looked REALLY good in his last fight (up until the KO..) Im gonna watch this fight..
Mark Bocek is a pure grappler who cannot do ’standup’.
Mark trains at my gym in Mississauga Ontario (really close to Toronto) and is our BJJ instructor,he’s a monster on the ground and I’m sure his BJJ will negate Evans wresling. Evans will probably get some takedowns but on the mat its all Bocek. John T, his standup has improved ALOT, so I wouldn’t count him out standing up, he may not be a k.o puncher but he’s definately more than competent. You can’t get into the UFC and fight as a pro if you’re just pure anything. You HAVE to be well rounded.
Look to see Doug Evans older brother Brian to be a real monster in the lightweight division
