With his fighting career on pause, UFC Heavyweight Champion (for now) Randy Couture will move forward with his acting gig.
“The Natural” will once again make a guest appearance on “The Unit,” reprising the role of Sgt. Strickland at 9 p.m. ET tonight on CBS. Couture first appeared on the program during the season finale of the show last year.
He recently returned from the set of “The Scorpion King: The Akkadian” in South Africa. Couture plays a villain in the major motion picture from Universal Studios that is due out sometime in late 2008.
According to the X-Treme Couture blog, “The Unit” was created by film and theater legend David Mamet who directed Couture in “Red Belt” earlier this year.
In other MMA programming news, ESPN program “E:60″ will shine a spotlight on Pat Miletich and his Quad City Silverbacks of the IFL at 7 p.m. ET.
Here’s a snip from IFL.tv:
“The episode looks at what it takes to become a mixed martial arts fighter, as the show travels to Bettendorf, IA. to have Miletich show first-hand the trials and tribulations a champion must go through … the groundbreaking new ESPN show is a can’t-miss for any MMA fan. Ignored for years by mainstream media, MMA has now gained a foothold in the consciousness of the American sports fans, which is reflected by this enhanced coverage from the world leader in sports news ….”

Randy acting, now that’s a new perspective on moving on..
Randy is working the spotlite like no tommorrow. Good for him. He can’t fight in the cage forever.
Anybody want to throw money into a pool and see if he dies in this episode, or gets kidnapped by terrorist?
Is Randy even a good actor? I realize his UFC fame has helped push his face under the camera, but I dont want to see a lame Randy Couture on TV after I already think so highly of him. Maybe he is a good actor, I dunno, I havent seen him.
He looks cool in that uniform.
my honest opinion is i dont like the first 3 ep of season 1.. so did not care for the rest.. but if randy is in half the episodes then .. it cant be that bad…the show still is boring with randy in it…. randy needs a diffrent show!!… “Randy Cotour fear factor host part 2″…ROFL
Dan announced he may be fighting on the 79 card at 185. I tried to post the link and source but I keep getting restricted
Good for Randy with pursuing his acting career and everything. But I have a feeling that his UFC fans will probably prefer to see him in the octagon. But I must admit he looks like he was born to wear the army uniform.
I’ve been seeing commercials for this episode of E60 all week. I’ll be watching for this segment.
Sorry, didn’t mean to submit, I was also going to say:
I watched the show last week and I thought that it was excellent. I really like the sports shows that take a closer look into certain aspects of a sport, the sport itself (in the case of MMA), and when they interview an athlete. They do an excellent job on E60. If you’ve never seen the show before, I highly recommend watching it. Its on at 7pm on ESPN.

thanks
Randy “the natural… I mean, Hollywood” Couture.
Who even watches this show? I bet he’s gonna be a huge star and get paid millions with that personality of his. Talking about what you know goes a long way to making you seem articulate, just dont think he will be a “NATURAL” (haha, god i’m clever)reading lines or playing any character who people will actually PAY to see.
I watch it… it fucking rocks…
I watched it last night… Randy didnt suck, did a good job.
Saw most of the episode last night. It was freakin’ terrible. I’ve never seen “The Unit” and now I never will again. That show is just pathetic, man. Randy also needs some acting lessons. He makes classic freshmen mistakes, which on the one hand is understandable, but on the other deserves to be made fun of.
ok, 1 thumb up on his acting and 1 thumb down… I didn’t watch it so from what I read I’ll guess he’s medium at acting.
