Totally, and to build on that: The best way to remedy the small pay, different champions for the same weight class–because of different leagues–is to put more of the power into the hands of the camps.
Then the camps can negotiate contracts and we can stop having the arguments of who would win a fight, and actually find out. I want to see what Robbie Lawler or Denis Kang (or the dude who knocked him out) or Misaki would do against Anderson Silva. I want to see Penn/Gomi II. I want to see Randy Couture outsmart Fedor.
That was awesome footage, I never heard that about Rory before….I feel for the guy.
that is a very good view of the gym, not just the ufc view not just the ifl view but a universal view.
I LIKE!!!! (I should move to Iowa.)
I don’t really care for the fighters that came out of MFS except for ROBBIE LAWLER, but that was a good video. I have a new found repect for Pat Miletich. ESPN and Michael Smith should fly to HILO, Hawaii and feature BJ PENN’s gym to see all the fighters he has trained and the good things he’s done for the community.
It give you a whole new respect for what they do!
MMamania, you need to post this video its so funny

sorry just copy and paste the whole thing dont click on the link.
$75 dollars a month?? In New York a MMA/BJJ..your paying anywhere from $150 to $225 easy. For a camp like that..a location in Iowa is a steal.

INTELLIGENT. And get ‘nuts’ off of your mind as well. Yoububg, can you PLEASE answer me this - Why do you find it necessary to post such comments? Do you get off on it? Does it give you a euphoric-drug-like high when you see your screen name first? I just don’t get it. Its as if when you die and leave this earth, the one thing that you will remember and take with you is knowing that you were the first person to post on like 14 different threads on mmamania.com, and had nothing to say about mma. If that truely is the case, then good job and continue the great work - you are accomplishing what you were put on this earth to do. Otherwise, you should spend you time looking for something much greater to accomplish, such as solving a problem or inventing something, which would actually make you money as well.
On the E60 piece, I thought it was pretty good. I have always been a fan of Michael Smith since I first seen him on the first season of Around the Horn (Woody Page is my favorite, and I miss him doing 1st and 10 with Skip Bayless on Cold Pizza, but that’s besides the point). But, I was actually expecting a little bit more from this segment. I am suprised that the state of Iowa is tring to ban MMA. The area around Bettandorf is all about Pat Miletich, and Iowa is one of the Top 5 wrestling states. After the segment, on E60, they always go back to the black and white ’round table discussion’. I didn’t like how that lady kept on bringing up steroids over and over again, as if that is the biggest story in all of mma. It’s not. It’s like everyone on the show was trying to show how postive of a sport mma is, and that b*tch kept on bringing up any negative she can think of. I expect to see a lot more on mma on ESPN. Hopefully Outside the Lines will follow suit and do a story on mma (again).

..on that note..espn should a program on MMA. Not a solely UFC thing..but the whole sport. MMA is never going away..and is spreading more and more..espn shouldn’t just except it..but embrace it. Don’t be scared to succeed espn..
Imagine a program that updates..debates..guest appearances..specials..the MMA archives..looking back at the history..the now and the future of our sport.
What gets me is PTI..little to no respect for the sport..even though its blowing up in their face.

Yoububg
How abou tyou call him someone with a valid point. Blogs and web sites are meant to share information and give pertinent opinions, not to have some self diluted idiot rant about being “#1!”. It sucks that time even has to be taken to explain this to you.
On the Subject; I really enjoyed the video, It is nice to see the sport portrayed in something other than negative light. And the price to train at that gym is incredible! The gyms here in Utah typically run$80-100, and that is just to train for one fight style. The cost to train with Jeremy Horn at his camp runs upward of $150-200

and you are first to think about nuts!!!
Although it is only 75$ a month don’t forget the 10% of future earnings!!!

..if you don’t want to be fighter..and just train..and stay fit..it’s a crazy deal. There were just BJJ gyms in the mid 90’s that charged more than Pat Miletich.
pat’s the man
nice video…shed some light on the training that all mma athletes must endure…
is it me, or are the fewer MFS fighters in the ufc now than there used to be?? didn’t franklin udes to fight under that banner?? hughes? mcfedries?
nuff respect to miletich…he was an awesome fighter…and has now become a respected coach
