Quoteworthy:

“Boy, there’s a lot of people I wouldn’t mind fighting. Bisping or Hammil, either one. You know, the two top guys from their season. And now Jardine probably wants a rematch with me, and I’m happy to do that. I want a rematch with Rashad. Houston Alexander looks tough; he’s been destroying everyone. This division is just so deep, ya know?”

Fresh off a technical knockout win over Eric Schafer at UFC 77: “Hostile Territory,” Stephan Bonnar looks forward to getting back inside the Octagon. In the meantime, he’s headed out to Thailand for almost two weeks to train Muay Thai.

I want to see houston fight another guy like jardine. maybe he should drop down to middle weight and test his striking against silva. bet you anything they’d give him an immediate title shot whereas in the light heavyweight, the line is huge. mark my words, it would happen.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Alexander could ever hit 185. That’s a huge cut for someone his size. He’s already completely ripped at 205. I must agree though, it’d be an awesome fight to see.

So BASICALLY….

Bonnar will fight anyone outside of the top 10 in the LHW division… He could have at least mentioned Tito, Houston is far better than anyone else he mention… Bisbing or Hamil… Please they BOTH SUCK!!

Yes you Hamil but munchers…. He is sh*t, just because he beat an under par Bisbing doesn’t make him any good, and he has to be the most boring guy in the LHW Div…Hamil that is…

Sorry to go off on one but after all the Hamil dick sucking on here it needs to be said (yawn) Hamil Vs Anyone is a crappy fight.

Bonnar has done well he should be looking forward, not trying to fight the same old chumps (KJ, MB, MH n RE)

BORING

I don’t think he cuts to get to 205, so it’s not out of the question. He is a little older than most fighters at 36, so he would probably agree with Dan Henderson that cutting down to 185 would take more out of him than a younger fighter.

“Maybe Jardine wants a rematch”??? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! First of all Jardine and all of the UFC knows that he beat Bonnar. Only reason Bonnar won was because of some blind ass judges or his well known name at the time. Yeah after Jardine beats Chuck hes going to stoop to your boring punk ass again. LMAO!!!
I say give him Houston and let him get killed!

You’re right, toelock. A fighter who just got off suspension, and has not fought a top 10 opponent recently, already lost to Rashad, should call out the best in the weight class and totally deserves to have that match happen. Genius

He is doing the right thing by naming Jardin (who is now ranked in the top ten and has a bunch of press on him), Rashad (who he lost to and is more in the public eye then Bonner is currently), Bisping or Hammill for the same reason, or Houston, who is on a killing spree. If he beats any of these guys, it gives him the creedence and viability to challenge for the #1 contender spot.

Bonnar is fighting people at his level, he is not a top 10 figher. Fighting guys who beat him, and are up there like Rashad is a step up (and you should probably include Jardine in that list, as it was bad decision, and he knows he lost that one).

I don’t know what to think of the light heavies. I think it’s really hard to determine who’s for real and who’s not, with all the TUF alums. Alexander is fun to watch, but he needs to fight another top ten guy. I was really disappointed that Shogun lost to Griffin. I like Griffin, but I considered Shogun to be one of the top pound for pound guys.

Gee, ToeLock,  I am not on the Hamil bandwagon by any means but the boy did put up a good fight and had a good argument for winning the fight. Is he a top ten fighter? He is not even a top 15 fighter. But the man has a lot of heart. I would rather see him lose a fight knowing that he gave it his all than see Bisping win a fight that he was grossly underprepared for.

That’s an interesting fight, but Bonnar seems to look like he is a big Light Heavyweight. He is a well put together dude and he is a tall guy, too. I don’t think he can make the cut. I think either Evans or Bisping can make the cut and one day fight Silva for the title.

Bonnar is a good but not great fighter. I think he relies way too much on his sloppy stand-up and decent ground game.

I think a Jardine/Bonnar II would be a good rematch.

But I think Jason Lambert vs. Stephan Bonnar would be one heck of a slug fest.

I predict a Bonnar-Evans rematch after Rashad beats the over rated Bisbing.

Also, I don’t like that the WEC is waiting soooo long inbetween events. They had that even in what, begining of September, and Jens Pulver had to drop out of his fight against Cub Swanson. I think Bonnar is not a bad Fighter, NC-17.

He’s got a lot of tools in the box, especially boxing (golden gloves winner). I think he was fighting injured and a little bit above his level a little too early.

I think once he matures and puts his entire game together as one package, he’ll look like Griffin and Jardine do now.

It’s tough to say that he’ll never be a great fighter.

I dont think Bonnar is a bad fighter either, he actually is one of my favorites. I just think he has not pieced it all together yet in the octagon. I think his stand up in the octagon has been sloppy and his ground game needs work. But that is why he is training with Couture now. I think Bonnar given a year-span of time with more under top 10 fights will be a complete fighter. I think Bonnar does rely more on his stand up, but I think down the road he will be fine, I think he will be hitting his prime here.

Bonnar is one weird dude though.. But its all good.

SO MANY things wrong with those statements.
Regardless of whether or not Hamill is “sh*t* or not, that Bisping fight was _far_ from boring. So Hamill vs. anyone doesn’t have to be a boring fight at all.

Also, Bonnar hasn’t actually done that well at all. He’s lost to all competition that you’d call “decent” (Forrest, Rashad, and arguably Jardine, although he got the decision). So for him to call out someone like Chuck, Wanderlei, Hendo, Rampage, or anyone like that would be silly.

He’s being humble and fighting people on his own level for now.

Fair point…. Sorry I came across a bit strong there, no offense to anyone i hope.

All i can say is i was stunned when Hamil got screwed, and I was a MB fan until that fight. But I don’t think Bonnar has ANYTHING to gain from fighting Hamil other than a bit more Octagon time/experience.

Bonnar needs to step up now like Jardine did with Chuck Liddell. I think he is a better fighter than KJ and if he sits around wanting pple like Bisbing he will NEVER become top 10…

This was a free event on Showtime. EliteXC is on Showtime for free, except for once, when it was PPV, but they replayed it for free the next weekend. There is also ShoXC - which is thier equivalent to the UFC Ultimate Fight Nights. Up and coming talent that you will soon see in EliteXC if they keep winning.
