I don’t know why but I like Sherk, but I love Melvin. Guillard would probably KO Sherk. I can’t wait to see Clementi in a pool of his own blood. I see a first round KO by my boy Melvin.
With training partners, like Mike V. and Lee how can he lose?
And big surprise ‘Nose Candy’ Guillard is coming to the defense of another substance abuser.
I can’t see this video at work. Can anyone give me a summary of what he said?
Just another roid boy.
Melvin looks a little small after being off the roids.
melvin is still a great fighter!
For every quality fighter to come out of TUF you’ve got three turds that float in after him. This guy is a freakin’ turd and he gives TUF a bad name.

Melvin moved to Houston, trains with people nobody has heard of, doesn’t like Rich Clementi and wants to win the title from Sherk instead of having it stripped from him for cheating because he thinks nobody will like a champion who didn’t win the belt from the defending champion.

Cocaine is not a steroid. You should go to a DARE meeting or something.

I would not categorize Melvin as a ‘turd’. He has dynamite in his fists and is extremely athletic. Melvin may be ‘the shit’ but he is no ‘turd’. If he could have kept the fight against Joe standing and protected his neck, I would have liked his chances, but no matter what, I had Joe winning by submission in that fight. If Melvin can add a ground game and improve his sprawl (his wrestling is pretty good but could use some improvement as well), he will be a serious force to be reckoned with. Yeah, that’s a lot to add to a fighter’s game, but Melvin has those abilities that you are naturally born with, or you are not. And only a very small percentage of people are born with natural abilities like Melvin.
I would love to see Guillard go up against another striker like Spencer Fisher or Sam Stout. The guy is so explosive. Unlike some people on this blog, I could care less what kind of person you are. If you are fun to watch, I am a fan.

Wasn’t he snorting steroids?
Hey Mahde, no sh**. I didn’t say anything about his cocaine habits.

So, you were just ignoring why he was suspended and made up a new reason in your head?
yep

While I am totally of a different mind set, I do agree that I can tolerate Melvin because he is so much fun to watch. Usually I won’t support a fighter who is a D-Bag, but when you watch his fights knowing that it could enda t any time, it is exciting stuff. And for the genius that called Melvin a Roider; get your facts straight before you blog
piece of garbage
this guy’s such an idiot, i would love to see him lose to Clementi. i agree he’s exciting to watch, but the guy probably reads at the 3rd grade level, which might not matter to some of you, but affords the rest of us the chance to make fun of him.
he has no business inserting himself into the title shot conversation. i mean, look at who he’s fighting. Clementi isn’t in the top 20 on ANYONE’s list. maybe that should tell Marvin something. the guy’s 3-2 in the UFC. he’ll get a title shot once he puts together 4 wins in a row and at least 1 or 2 of them being against guys like Fisher, Florian, Stevenson, Penn, Huerta (or even Franca, once he returns from suspension), all of whom are ahead of Melvin in the depth chart.

The only beef I have with this is saying that Huerta is ahead of him on the depth chart. Huerta has never fought a top 10 guy, but he did fight Melvin and lost. I know they overturned it afterwards, but it seemed like a bogus No Contest, just like the Diaz one.

i might give you that one. i do think Huerta would win if they fought today, but you’re right, he hasn’t fought a top UFC guy.

Completely wrong. It is not bogus to change a ruling when one fighter is slicked up and can’t hold onto for submission holds. Any fighter who has rolled or done some mixed sparring will tell you this (diaz wa bs though)

HOWEVER, that fight took place in another organization, FFC, not the UFC. Therfore, I don’t think that that fight would not have any effect on their current UFC rankings.

Same here.
Roger Huerta is overated at this point. The only semi-notable opponent that he’s faced is doug evans and he didn’t exactly run through him. In fact he lost the first round. Clay Guida is going to destroy him. If Huerta does win than he defintely deserves some of the hype but at this point I don’t see what the big deal is.
Someone know the name of the very first song played in the background of this interview? Thanks!
As for Melvin I think he’s a great fighter and has some serious KO power…but I do see Rich subbing him late in the 1st
As for Huerta…I can not wait to see him vs Guida. I got Roger by Split Decision

What does that mean? If he didn’t get punched in the face and choked out he would have had a chance to win? LOL Yeah he was actually winning the staredown, but few lucky punches and a lucky choke later Melvin somehow lost. I especially like the dinomite in his hands when he was tapping. Sorry but I hate ppeople that talk trash to insult somebody not to sell the fight. The shit he was saing about Stevenson and now he just had to insult Rich. Not like “I think I am a better striker, or I belive I got better cardio” he had to say fat boy can’t even make weight? I hope Rich beats him under 30 sec…that would be great. less air time for the cocane boy
I could have sworn that dude used to have blonde hair.
Melvin is a tough as they get for the 1st round… if he’s training hard, and he constantly gases like that after going to the ground once or twice, then maybe he cuts to much weight, or is not mentally mature enough to push himself. He’s been out of TUF since 2005 and I don’t see much improvement in his ground game. Cocaine?… not mentally in the right place.
Melvin doesn’t have a champion’s mind set… he’ll never get there unless he gets lucky… I can’t see him knocking everyone out on his feet like Chuck Liddell… the 155lb weight class has too much talent with guys that will take him down one to many times.

The band is Muse - Knights of Cydonia; also check out their song Star light.
He did have light hair; he looked like a mini-randleman
Melvins first loss in the ufc came at 170 pounds. And he was dominatating the entire fight. I was surprised that the fight was not stopped, and then he got caught in a choke. He is still young and he going to end up being the champ.
This guy could be so awesome!, he has all the tools needed except for the fact that he gets careless and gets submitted

Ok, in that case I meant the 2nd song lol…what’s that named?
Muse is a great band
the 1st song playing is not knights of cydonia…anyone know it?
ive been trying to get this damn song down for awhile lol
It was hysteria, the band was correct though thanks!
The song that was playing at the end was “The Pot” by Tool. Awesome song by the best band on the planet.

Re-Read please. In a purely stand up fight, I liked Melvin, but his is MMA, so I liked Joe. “If he didn’t get punched in the face and choked out he would have had a chance to win?” is NOT what I said. I said “If he could have kept the fight against Joe standing and protected his neck, I would have liked his chances, but no matter what, I had Joe winning by submission in that fight.” I did not mention a staredown, and I did not use the word ‘lucky’ which you used like 4 times. There was no luck in that fight. “I especially like the dinomite (its spelled with a ‘y’) in his hands when he was tapping.” What are you talking about, have you seen Melvin fight? He knocked Rick Davis’s head clear into the 5th row. He KO’d Gabe with a body punch. AND he is the last fighter to defeat Marcus Davis. Melvin has dynamite in his hands. Ask anyone. I did not say that he displayed his dynamite hands in the fight with Joe. I made one sentence about the fight with Stevenson, and you act like that is what the thread is about…
To the poster above, your are right, he does have some serious fighter power in his hands, you can see it every time he swings, but he’s wreckless
Guillard looks TINY in UFC 79 weigh in photos!
That guy looks emaciated.
