Tickets for UFC 79: “Nemesis” on December 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, go on sale next week, according to UFC.com.
The 170-pound title fight between current UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra and former division king Matt Hughes is the only confirmed bout at this time for the New Year’s Eve weekend event.
Here are all the particulars:
UFC Fight Club: Exclusive presale for members only begins on Sunday, October 21 at 1 p.m. ET.
UFC Newsletter: Exclusive presale for subscribers only begins on Tuesday, October 23 at 1 p.m. ET.
General Sales: Seats are opened up to the masses on Wednesday, October 24 at 1 p.m. ET.
UFC 79: “Nemesis” tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com or StubHub.com (Note: StubHub often has seats available even if the event is “sold out.”)
There are other fantastic match ups in the works for this card, including a lightweight showdown that possibly includes BJ Penn fighting for the 155-pound title against either current champ Sean Sherk or number one contender, Joe Stevenson (This all depends on Sherk’s October 31 CSAC steroids appeal).
In addition, former champions Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva are expected to finally face off in a 205-pound war. It’s going to be a great night.
Stay tuned for more official confirmation on the UFC 79 fight card. In the meantime check out the rumored card right here.

I can’t wait for this event!!!!!!!!!!!
2nd!
lets all just hope that liddell v silva is on this card. Is it possible for both Serra and Hughes to lose? Maybe they both fail drug tests and the belt is then awarded to GSP. Now that would make for a great night.

OMG YOU GOT 2nd!!! post something good if your goin to post anything at all.
It may be the plan to move chuck/wandy to February Super bowl weekend.
i can see chuck getting hammed and not showing up for weigh in.. or chuck wil back out…. he hasnt been himself since the jackson fight
Chuck had a bump in his career damn big deal all fighters do come on i bet you last year all of you haters where all over his nuts but damn they guy loses a few and he is a nobody your not true MMA fans, Im going to that event and by the title “NEMESIS” i sure hoppe they have LIDDELL vs SILVA
I hope sherk wins the appeal. I would love to see him rip BJ Penn apart.. Penn gets under my skin, he acts like he is the best fighter in the world. When I was watching TUF I wanted to kill him…
nemesis? should be UFC 79 ” temporary” This division is so stacked I don’t think either of the ” Matts” will hold on to the title
UFC 79…I love it.
Do you think GSP will jump in the cage after the title fight..and talk smack to the winner??

Touché! Whoever wins will have the title for what 2 months? Maybe 3? But I can’t wait.

Mania, when you monitor posts can you please not allow people bragging about getting to post first or second, etc? It’s really annoying and has been a problem.

He will have an order of pasta ready for Serra because he is going to starve now that the belt is gone back to Hughes.
But I truly think he would prefer to fight Serra and kick his ass and show him that it was a fluke the 1st time. It was a fluke as Serra will not win 2 in a row.
i will try to go to this fight nice 5 hour drive, but giving it is close to the holidays i might not be able to swing it.
good fights though
100 roses for this fight and its at Mandalay Bay, and not MGM, that sux.
wow just checked out the seating chart prices
800 dollars for floor seats as well as plaza level
500 dollars for upper and 300 for upper in the corners
i paid 300 for lower level 2nd row now the same seat in vegas will cost 800 dollars that is almost 150% more increase for the same seats
was looking at pay per views looks like from new jersey event on the prices of the tickets will increase in seating the one in cincy looks the same as others but after big increase in prices
i am glad dana can suck as much money as he can from the fans and not sign fedor, randy,
i am glad he can have the fan shell out the money and not sign the fighters we want in the ufc

and if you’re going to be first or second, at least say something!
I’d really like to see Serra beat hughes, but he’s going to have to make sure he’s up on his wrestling for that. On his back is a bad place. I doubt he’ll submit matt hughes.
Those prices are ridiculous, totally not worth it to see live.
Hey can someone post the presale password so I can get my tickets early? Thanks
I hope serra beats hughes too, not coz I hate hughes I think he’s a great fighter but I want serra vs GSP II… I want to see how GSP handles serra after loosing to him. GSP battered Hughes on their 2nd meet to win the title

dude i hope GSP is there because i want to meet him, and no i dont think he will but they will mention him and put him on the big screen over an over

I too believe Sherk would overwhelm Penn conditioning alone 3rd round TKO(fatigue)

Have to disagree, i think serra has the ability to beat Hughes where ever this fight goes hes better at jujitsu and he will annihilate the stand up, Hughes is a better wrestler, and maybe a little stronger but this is mma, serra isn’t going to just lay on his back and take punishment, Hughes wont submit serra or knock him out, his only hope is a decision, I think serra will stop the fight before the 2nd round.
If Serra keeps it on his feet I luv his chances… Serra seems have improved his sprawl and brawl… he did it once or twice with GSP and managed to stay on his feet.
in the HUGHES VS GSP rematch, GSP managed to sprawl and brawl as well..
If Hughes is working more on his clinch tatics and takedowns from that spot, Serra is in for a long night.

I concur. I come here to argue, not scream, “Me first!” like I am five years old. Also, there should be a filter for people who use all caps. And for people who don’t actually say anything about MMA, just something stupid. However, I dont know how realistic it is to think that all of this can be done.

We went to UFC 58 and our seats were not bad, 3rd row off the floor for $450 a pop. $900 to go just for the seats and I will say that the atmosphere was awesome but we were watching the screens most of the time…..Will I do it again? Most likely!
your 3rd row off the floor now costs 800 not 450

yeah because sherk wouldn’t use any energy. he’s just lay on top of Penn like he does in all his fights. winner via boredom.
29th!
OK this is WAY of topic but does anyone know what the tatoos on Wandy’s foreamrs mean? If you kno dont be shy to tell.
This event seems like the closest thing to a superbowl yet. I give it a prefight ranking above Stacked’s prefight ranking.
In a perfect world, Matt Serra would retain his title so that Pierre can be the one to take it away, BJ Penn will come in and beat Sherk to become the lightweight champ and Kiera Knightley would be waiting for me, naked in bed, when the fights were over.
lets say if sherk is cleared i wonder if joe stevenson will also be on the card as well, or do i think in newcastle main event big daddy vs ken flo for #1 contender
anyone else feeling me
I was about to comment on the other shit you guys said, but then someone mentioned BJ Penn, AND I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU. If I am not mistaken, Pulver was made out to be the “bad guy,” yet the only thing I noticed on the last season of TUF was Penn talking shit from the get-go, and Jens came across as just doing his job. And when being asked about losing to 23 year-old Joe Lauzon, Pulver was still humble. I hope BJ Penn gets KNOCKED THE FUCK WHOEVER HE FIGHTS. AM I WRONG?

Stevenson vs. Florian would be a great setup for the winner of Sherk-Penn… followed by Huerta-Guida… exciting division right now… most likely Sherk is out though… Penn-Stevenson is probably on… winner of Huerta-Guida fights Florian for next title shot?
With a title like “Nemesis” they definitely have a theme going: Hughes/Serra, Guillard/Clementi, Penn/Sherk, Liddell/Silva. That’s a whole night of people who want to kill each other fighting. Excellent.
Hughes over Serra.
Wandi over Chuck seein how Chuck has been the last two, assuming Wandi comes back like the one of old HELL YEAH!!
And the most important part….. Don’t matter who the opponent. WAR PENN!!!!!
I hope sherk wins the appeal.
Anyone really think Sherk has a chance on appeal? In light of past appeals in CSAC and NSAC, his date before the board is simply a formality. Tainted supplements is not reason enough; he must prove the tests faulty and although his levels were relatively low, he failed both tests.
I had hoped he was innocent, but I think he will be suspended and strap-stripped. He’s probably a juicer and just missed his cycle by a week or two.
29th!
LOL
they better not have chuck and wandy fight. One will be retired out of the fight easily. 3 losses in a row unless theres a draw. Think about it.

Sorry all of you had to spend a split second to read 2nd, Geeze who relly cares? Did it affind you ladies?
This fight is sort of a win win for me because if hughes beats the crap out of serra…good, and if serra wins gsp gets to avenge his loss to serra and destroy him like he was supposed to do the first time. It’s turning out to be a great card man do I wish hughes submits the super loud and obnoxious serra, it would be sweet. I could actually see it happening…calm down serra nut huggers, after hughes wears him down, later on in the fight or dazing him with ground and pounding…submitting him, I would love that, to add insult to injury.

Nathan, your love is for GSP. It’s a win win for you because GSP will likely get to fight either the “fluke” Serra or Hillbilly Hughes for the strap. Then you can hear GSP whispering in your ear “Oui, mon petit garçon avec les lèvres serrées, you are my favorite nut hugger.”
Can anyone tell me how many rows are in Section 113 at Mandalay bay Dec 29th and how many seats are in a row?
Cheers.
Been a fan since UFC1 and now I am finally going to the big show for the new year in Vegas.
Can’t wait !
Would be nice to see one in Canada too………….
Rumour has it possible Feb 2008?
