By Jesse Holland
Episode four begins with the quotidian recap and everyone is just as surprised as Billy that John opted to shoot and take him down during last week’s fight. Jared summed it up best: “It was disgusting, dude“.
An angry Hughes spits on the legacy of Yogi Berra and informs his fighters that fighting is 50% physical and 50% mental. Warmly welcoming anything that requires only 50% physicality, Blake’s eyes get a little Heaven’s Gate-ish as he starts hopping in place.
Team Hughes thinks that Serra’s next pick will be a perceived “weak link” to which Paul and Blake immediately make eye contact.
Blake in particular is concerned that Coach Serra might see him as just a bum. With an official record of 0 wins and 0 losses, I’m confident that opinion may stretch a little beyond Matt Serra.
Over at Camp Serra the boys have gathered for a little roundtable action to determine who is the next pick. Jon Koppenhaver likes the idea of fighting Blake because it seems like the easiest 5k he’ll ever make.
Serra immediately compares him to Gabe Ruediger (ouch) who tried to call out Wayne Weems in secret during season five. Personally I don’t agree with Serra. Taking the path of least resistance may not be the most macho strategy, but what does bravado mean if you don’t make it to the semifinals?
Someone has to ice the cupcakes, it might as well be Koppenhaver.
During the fight picks we learn that Serra will match Richie Hightower against Blake Bowman. Also known as the yawn heard ’round the world. Richie tries his best Ivan Drago and deadpans: “I will crush him like Stalin“.
I guess that makes Blake his Leon Trotsky.
Speaking of obscure references, Blake spends the rest of the day cracking jokes like it’s open-mic night at the Improv. You may be a nice guy Blake, but as far as the humor goes you’re no Forrest Griffin.
Mac has a soft spot for the Blakester and tries to give him some pointers for the fight. I’m not sure if Mac’s more anti-Hightower than pro-Blake, but during the exercise Blake reminds him that he’s not Cro Cop.
The way Mirko’s been fighting lately Blake’s probably a lot closer than he thinks.
In one of those sound bytes that’s sure to come back and haunt him, Blake manages to make his shot at the UFC sound like a line from The Birdcage:
“There it is…I can stare at it…or open the package and play with it.”
I guess since this is a recap I’m obligated to mention the interior bruising that Blake suffered during training. Picture the look of disinterest by Hughes and you pretty much have my feelings on the matter.
Things finally start to get interesting as Dorian gets a little lightheaded and has to be taken out of training. With the pain of his loss still lingering, he becomes choked up over the whole situation and then completely unravels when the cameraman gets in his face for some closeups.
Dorian tries a Mary-Kate, running to the other side of the gym and hiding his face under a shirt. I guess the concept of the zoom lens is lost on a hothead like Dorian and when he catches the crew still doing their job he takes exception and OH MY GOD HE’S WALKING TOWARDS THE CAMERA MAN! MENACINGLY!
And that was it. Not appropriate behavior but not exactly Margot Kidder either. We then get about ten minutes of Dorian feeling guilty and Dana eventually comes in to give him the proverbial slap on the wrist.
Before you know it everyone is back in the gym, laughing and playing while they grapple. Dorian decides he can speak for the rest of the black community and gives Dana their seal of approval.
Anticlimactic to say the least.
Team Serra is the first group back at the house and lo and behold a birthday cake is sitting on the counter waiting for Blake. Apparently it’s his birthday and whoops, the producers must have accidentally left it out in the open - complete with cake decorating tools.
Well Jon knows an opportunity when he sees one and slowly and ever so deliberately writes Happy Birthday Blake on the face of the cake. Later that night, a grateful Blake shares his cake with the rest of the house as the guys shoot the breeze and pat each other on the backs.
In an unrelated note, the producer who planted the cake was found unconscious in his Buick with a potato shoved in the tailpipe.
Mac goes on record to profess his hatred for Richie because he wears his hat in a goofy fashion. I’ve got news for you Mac, you had better be prepared to hate a quarter of the male population.
It’s the day of the fight and Blake proudly announces that his stand-up has improved 100% since he’s been there. Since he’s only been there about a week or so, I’ll have to assume it was pretty rancid to begin with.
Prior to the fight each combatant gets a chance to deliver a message:
Richie: “I’m in it to win it.”
Blake: “You’re gonna eat bunches of punches.”
Compelling stuff. Round one begins with a nice leg kick from Richie. Blake tries one of his own and they tie up. Richie pushes him to the cage and eats a knee for his efforts. Richie starts throwing uppercuts and forces Blake to back away. Richie drops him with a punch (or Blake slips - depending on who you ask). Richie mounts and drops bombs until the fight is stopped.
I don’t want to disrespect Blake, but there has got to be someone out there who applied for this show that is better qualified. For there to be a fighter with a 0-0 record in season six says a lot about the problems many people (including myself) have with the way the show is constructed.
Four episodes, four first round snoozers.
Stay tuned next week as Mac gets bitter, Team Serra rebukes him, and Paul gets an unpleasant call from home. Hopefully they remember to show a fight.
See you then!

man hughs looked like a dick in the previews of episode 4. cant wait to see.
Dorian reminds me of Corey Hill, tall, lanky and weird. I obviously havent seen the episode, but my hat is off to Dana for intervening on the crews behalf. Drama like this doesnt ad to the sport and in demonstrates to the public some MMA fighters dont belong on TV.
From what I have seen Dorian’s maturity and his ground game are at the same low level.
well since we can talk about other mma things, first and foremost IMO FEDORS MANAGEMENT SUCKS.they must really believe that Fedor will lose when he gets to the UFC then his stock will drop to the point of not getting the money they want for FEDOR.I don’t think Fedor is to compitive(oops misspelled) to the point were he dosen’t care who he fights he wants money an a near perfect record,He will retire when he is 34-1 beating a whole lot soup cans an still thinking he’s #1.he should fight any heavy weight just to see what will happen, come on think randleman almost beat him
the ultimate fighter is getting so boring these days.. i mean i waited the whole show to watch a 30 second fight. it is b.s and so is the whole make of the show… it has been done before.. the ufc has to change it up because it is getting stale like a really bad bag of chips. good at first… then you go back to it.. and it sucks

What are they going to do? That dude had no chance - he folded up like a cheap chair. They need some tension in the house - I guess we will see this in the next episode.
can somebody give me a rundown of what happened?
I missed it tonight, I was at a concert.
i love the ultimate fighter, not necessarily the fights but i love when they get wasted and get all roudy and start breakin stuff.
one thing i think they should do before making more ultimate fighters, is find out who is the best ultimate fighter in each weight class, theres 3 LH ultimate fighters, 2 welterweights, 2 lightweights and 2 middleweights, have a tourney to decide which is the actual ultimate fighter in each class, ide watch that for sure, even tho i already watch TUF everytime its on.
Hughes got real red in the face and Serra said dick alot. Oh yeah blake lost to Ricthie in some sort of a fight er something.
i agree that there has to be someone else out there better than bowman, i mean hightower didn’t look like anything special and he just walked through him…they should bring back the old style with two weight classes on each season so the early rounds aren’t filled with bs fights, they could have had the top 8 guys from last season and the top 8 guys from this season and made one really good season instead of two mediocre ones…

lol? I thought Holland just did…
Tonight’s fight really reaked….Serra’s guy was right, that really was the easiest 5k ever made. Hopefully next week will be a lot better.
the UFC needs to change the show into a tournament. none of this team soap opera crap. 20-30 guys, go to a camp/training facility and they just get to it, like 3 fights a show, maybe show sum training and a little close up at the guys fighting that week. winners stay and fight, the losers go home. guys will pick who they converse with and the drama will happen itsself. but just keep the fighting comming. with enough fights there will be bound to be some interesting fights so there wont be much pressure to find the best fighters. like when the ufc first started it was a tournament, why not go back to that to try and find new big time fighters, put them through a gruling tourny and the winner gets a fight or contract whatever they do. and with enough fighters even some losers will be intruiging for fans and could make good fights.

Concert?….
ADLIB THE QUOTE OF DANA WHITE:
“DO YOU WANT TO BE A UFC FAN!”
“Jon Koppenhaver likes the idea of fighting Blake because it seems like the easiest 5k he’ll ever make.”
I don’t see Jon as a Gabe Ruediger, Ruediger was special, Ruediger was looking for an easy fight. Jon was looking to make 5k. Jon said what I bet a lot of guys were thinking…. he just shouldn’t have said it, it’s not the kind of inspiration Serra wants to hear.
I don’t know what the hell Blake is doing on that show with a 0-0 record, and his body seems frail and starts breaking down in a 24hr period. Dana must’ve liked his jokes.
Dorian has that anit-social/paranoid personality disorder thing going. He just needs theraputic couch time once in awhile, (White & Mac).
I was a Hughes hater ever since TUF 2, I’ve always respected his determination as an MMA fighter. I agreed with Serra, Hughes was a dick back then as a coach.
I think GSP putting him on his ass like no one ever has and Serra calling out in public Hughes on a personal level, and lets not forget finding God,(Im not a very religious person) has really made him channel his energies in a more constructive way.
I’m slowly starting to like Hughes again, and respect the way he’s been handling his teams loses and them as individuals. Hughes handled it perfectly with Billy, his composure was good. Hughes knows Blake is not going to make it in MMA and despite that he did not treat him like he did Jason Von Flue from TUF 2.
Hughes hasn’t won me over yet though, but I like what I’m seeing.
Dorian is definitely the black sheep of the Serra-Hughes family.
I literally did fall asleep before the actual fight that they saved until 8 minutes left in the show. I’ve seen every episode this season so far and I’ll probably just keep watching but next season I think I’ll opt to read about the preliminary fights and then start watching when the quarter finals start.
Matt Hughes has done a good job (so far) putting the right image out there. He comes across as being a very thoughtful, level-headed decent guy. If for no other reason this series is a good opportunity for him to win some public opinion back.
First of all, Blake did slip and hurt his knee, he tore his acl. Blake is a good fighter with alot of heart and I look foward to seeing him fight more. I dont know what Jesse Holland has against Blake but he seems like a dumbass anyway.
Simply put, this season is aweful…time to change things up or get rid of it.
Simply put, this season is aweful…time to change things up or get rid of it.
i agree.. i love you for saying this.. some people dont agree and they deserve a royal beatdown
I hope the remaining fighters can actually fight. I thought Blakes knee buckled in the same way any good punch makes your knees buckle. He might have hurt it by falling from the punch. I give Hightower credit for bringing the fight and finishing it. I had a feeling Blake would lose when I saw him take his shirt off. Serra seems to be able to read Hughes like an open book.
The 4th fight..was bunz.
You can’t have all killas on the show. Fighter’s would get hurt more often. These early fights except for Mac.. are the filler spot fighters..they have no chance in winning the whole thing..they may upset someone..but that is about it.
I love MMA but this reality show really blows. They should just show the fight one night a week so you can miss the manufactured drama.

There are a few things they can change. First, I think they should do it every other year instead of every year. I mean, last year’s cast haven’t even had time to establish themselves, and then we get introduced to a whole new set of fighters. Second, there should be less fighters (no cans), and more fights. Make it 8 fighters only, and each fighter gets at least 3 fights. There are many good potential match-ups that we don’t get to see because it’s one-and-done if you lose. Each fighter gets 3 prelim bouts, then get seeded in a tourney based on record.
I think Blake was actually interested in trying out for the Last Comic Standing but he made a wrong turn in the airport. The UFC producers (and Blake) were too embarrased about their mishap and decided to keep him on.

I agree, every sport has scrubs. B-ball has the 12th man who wears the warm up suit day in and day out. Baseball has that one dude who’s only job it is to cheer others on in the dugout….and TUF, TUF has the dudes you saw last night.

Anyone can read Hughes like an open book. You can learn all you need to know about him just by the way he walks out of the training facility. Man, I always think back to last November when GSP crushed him. What a great night that was. Absolutely owned him. On that November night, Hughes was Blake.
Another really boring episode. I was tired of the Dorian faux drama after about a minute.
Best line of the night:
“They’ve won two in a row already. They’re probably going to try to make it three.”

White Rhino, the Fedor thread is right below this one. That’s the thread for Fedor comments. This is the thread for last nights TUF episode.

EXACTLY spida!!! That’s what I’ve been saying for a long time. Last season’s Top 8, and this season’s Top 8 would have made for an excellent season. But then again, we would have never gotten introduced to such individuls as Gabe Reudiger, Marlon Sims, Monstah Lobstah, Joe Scarola, Dorian Price, Blake Bowman…. Although, I must admit, that a couple of these guys made for entertaining episodes from thier non-fighting activities. But all in all, I could have gone without knowing Wayne Weems if I walked past him. I actually think that that’s quite disgusting.

Well said Thorazine. I was a HUGE Hughes fan back in the day, but like you, after seeing somethings on season 2 (Jason Von Flue like you mentioned, and how he treated Rashad Evans), I didn’t like him as much as I did. I mean, I still have never rooted against him in a fight, but after seeing this season so far, I consider myself a huge Hughes fan once again, minus giving them bibles. But his rationale on that was that there is no TV, phones, internet, books, magazines or anything allowed in the house. Hughes found a loophole in that rule, and was allowed to give his team bibles. I am looking forward to seeing Hughes beat the crap out of that d*ck Matt SERRA.
So-so episode. Nothing special. Bowman was just outclassed. Funny guy, but not at this level.
Anyone else getting tired of Serra? Guy complains about Hughes, but all he does is gloat and badmouth Hughes every chance that he gets. You dont like him, we get it. It’s almost like Serra wants to make sure HE gets enough airtime.
Alright, now I wanted to point a few things that I noticed in last nights episode that Jesse did not touch upon.
How about after the first Team Hughes practice of this episode, the team gathers around, and all put thier hands on top of each others in the middle. And Matt Hughes says “On 3, let’s say HUGHES, because I can’t think of anything else to say” LOL, he is so full of himself that he can’t even think of a single word in the English language other than his own name.
When Hughes was training Blake in the octagon for his upcoming fight, Blake was laying on top of Hughes’s in his open guard, and Hughes was continuing to give Blake pointers, and Blake gives him the correct answer. Then Matt proceeds to caress the side of Blakes face and run his fingers through Blake’s hair several times and say in a cute little voice, “You’re so smart”. I was laughing pretty hard at that. Last week we saw the gayest moment ever in the history of TUF when the assistant coach was spooning Miles, and , we all remember…. This just may have been the second.
Another tip given to Blake from Hughes was to swivel his hips “like he does when he’s with a girl”. Blake responds with “looke at me, does it look like I can get a girl?”. This was probably the truest thing Blake said all episode. I can’t believe that Blake got on the show with a record of 0-0, ZERO MMA fights. I know think that I have a legitimate shot at making next season’s cast.
During the fight, when Blake hit the floor, he instantly just covered up his face with his hands, he didn’t even try to defend himself in any sort of intelligent manner. I was really dissapointed with it, but we then found out that his knee gave out on him. So it then made sense.
I thought that Blake was a nice guy, but he’s certainly not a fighter. It looks like everyone on Team Hughes really looks up to Mac and he was there for Blake before the fight, and the only one talking to Dorian at the house after his ‘explosion’ on camera man. Speaking of which, I was really dissapointed, I was expecting more because of the previews. Mac also talked to Scarola the night before they fought and wished him the best and said that he liked him, and later tried to convince him to stay when he wanted to leave for like the 9th time. Mac really seems like a cool dude. But next week, he appears to be mad at Blake, and Team Serra is going to mess with him and his vegan food. They should leave Mac alone because he is going to single handly beat all thier asses. I loved when he said that he thinks its pathetic that Hightower would get $5k for finishing Bowman. But then he said something along the lines of “I’ll make sure that after next round, he’ll have to use that $5k for medical bills”. Mac is going to kick ass. He is actually probably the best coach that Hughes has on his team.

That was funny! Isn’t it ironic that Pete Sell’s head is shaped like a light bulb?

Blake is a good fighter with a lot of heart? How does someone with a 0-0 record qualify as a fighter period, much less a “good” fighter?
Much props to Mac! That kid has a good attitude… he is light years ahead of so many of the other fighters in the house, but he doesn’t act cocky or like a dick. He helps out any fighter in need reguardless of what team he is on. I will be very surprised if Mac doesn’t win the whole thing.
So many of you bloggers have been bashing Dorian. Ok his letter a week or so ago was retarded. But for the most part (with the exception of going after the camera crew) the guy has the attitude that I want to see in a fighter. I like that he really wants to be there, he is trying to learn as much as he can from this experience and thats all you can really ask of a young semi - inexperienced mma fighter trying to make it in the UFC. If I was a couch on the show, I would want Dorian on my team!!! I hope he gets some kind of ground game because the welterweight division doesnt showcase too many good Muy Tai based fighters. I’ll admit he is out of his freaking mind…but thats perfect for a fighter! the only bad thing I can say about Dorian is about his non exsitent ground game, and he lost his damn mind and almost attacked the production crerw.
Keep in mind, Most of these fighters will do anything to make it to the UFC. Dorian obviously wants it real bad, and I cant hate on him for that. You are fighting for your dream, on live television, it can weigh heavily on your mind. He messed up, he appologized (and seemed sincere) now lets give the guy a break… That aint an easy situation to be in.. and I cant knock a man who genuinly wants to be there.
Also what the hell was hughes talking about towards the end of the episode when he said out of the last 4 fights, he gets to pick 3 of them….. Is he retarded or something? The 2 coaches get to pick every other fight, so how the hell is Hughes saying that he gets to pick 3 out of the next 4…. Hughes needs to work on his elemantary math, maybe he should be watching more Sesame street with his daughter, cause that form of counting makes no sense to me!
Slightly off topic, but who the hell is Dorian to usurp the title of spokesperson for the black community from The Good Reverend Jesse Holland, er, Jackson? As far as I know, Dana White has never smooched Jackson’s backside and apologized for only 40% of his champions being persons of color.
Vuiolent Mike, and Spida: U guys are so on point. The show has to go back to a 2 weight class format because this season really blows from a fighting standpoint. So far we have witnessed 4 of the worst fights in mma history.
Bill Shit himself once he got in the ring, Scarola, he’s just a pussy!
Scarola is worse then any other fighter that has left or been kicked off the show because no one else that left the show had as much support as he did. Scarola had Serra talk to him over and over again, Dana was real cool to him, Mac was kool to him, and the fag still left the show for his girlfreind of 6 months! r u freakin kidding me?
He basically gave up his job at Serra’s school, he gave up on any chance of EVER fighting in the UFC and he may have lost one of his best freinds in Serra, not to mention he embarressed himself on TV!
Blake, Im not gonna trash because he just didnt have the tools. You cant blame a man for that, I mean atleast the guy tried. I blame Dana for putting him on the show!
Richie: Not impressive against the weakest opponent that he will ever face (blake)
John (fight club dude): I mean he is a likeable dude, but come on, he won with a crappy standing guilotine. I wasnt impressed
Hopefully: Baratta, George the greek dude and some other guys can step up and show that they actually have some mma skills.
So far the only fighters that showed they belong are Mac, and Matty boy (dude that beat Dorian).
Can you imagine Billy, hightower, blake, john in the TUF finally? Thank god they threw huerta against guida on that card because so far the finally isn’t looking that impressive.

Yeah I posted that before Holland had his article up. Remember, they do have the discussion before the show, then they merge it with Holland’s article, which is always incredibly written.

True Story.
I dont know what to think of the person who picks who gets on the show. Really, I live on PEI a little island in canada with about 140k people and I can name atleast 5 people who could be Blake. Seriously the guys sucked. He was falling apart. The guy is 0-0 and they didnt give him any press as to what the hell he actually does. Is he a straight mma fighter does he have a background in anything in particular, I saw him come in with an orange belt… what the hell is that about, not exactly the sort of thing you wanna pumped over.
Hightower did turn it up a notch once he ate a knee but I figure he isnt even top 5 in the house. Mack has a good chance at winning it but I think there is a diamond in amongst that bunch… My money is on Daniel Barrera and Mac being in finals. I wonder what warmachine is like?
Catchy name.
Dorian wasnt that bad and Dana did the right thing. But it gives us a little insight into somethings the guys have to endure. They are under pressure, but com’on it cant be that bad. Not enough though to make me wanna run home.
Dorian is weak mentally and should go home now before he gets really hurt. He should just shut his mouth and train, if that is what he really wants to do. I’m not really buying this whole, ‘I want this so much, I’ve gone nuts’, alibi.
Why is Blake even in this show?! The guy has an 0-0 record! I don’t understand. They should have given this opportunity to somebody who is a real fighter. At least that way we’d see some better fights.
Also what the hell was hughes talking about towards the end of the episode when he said out of the last 4 fights, he gets to pick 3 of them….. Is he retarded or something? John, I’ll explain this for you. The way the team pickings went, the winner of the coin toss had the choice of either getting the first pick, or chose the first fight. Serra ended up with the first pick, so Hughes got to pick the first fight. So Hughes will be chosing the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th fights. BUT in chosing the 7th fight, he is also deciding the 8th and final fight. When its time to pick the 7th fight, there will be 4 fighters left. Hughes will pick 2 of them to fight in the 7th fight, and the other two that are left will automatically fight in the 8th and final fight. So Hughes gets to decide both matchups.
PROPS TO JESSE! I watched the show last night, it was alright - but I really enjoyed reading your article. Great stuff man!
Off the subject: Can anyone confirm this?
Dan hawley went to the set of Jerry Springer with Wes simms, b/c simms stole Hawley’s $2000 fight earnings from the Bodog NJ fight, and spent it on hookers, video taped it and sent hawley a copy.
simms convinced hawley that he wanted to pay him back, and that he wanted to sort it out, and that it would be fun to do on springer. so on sunday 10/7/07 they both flew they both flew to chicago, for the tpaing monday, and while in their seperate green rooms, hawley got bored and convinced one of the girls that works on the set to let him into simms’ room.
hawley asked simms for his money and simms sd that he wasnt gonna pay him back so hawley
punched him, landed an upper cut and knocked simms out, he proceeded to jump on top of him and pound out simms face and the went for a heel hook, he popped simms out and started screaming when he came to.
needless to say springer’s crew ushered them out of the building pretty quickly and didnt tape an episode (they said it was b/c simms was bleeding too much).
and 20 min later hawley was back on a plane to buffalo.
Jesse- you’re slipping man. 2 weeks and you’ve passed up major opportunities for comedy. You’re better than this. Let your hands go. I’m going to fightlinker now.

Hey VM,
Finally something I disagree with you (lol) I actually like Serra, he’s no GSP, though.
Regarding the Dorian incident, I’m pretty sure Dorian was suffering from the lingering effects of a concussion from his fight, which may have contributed to his bizarre behavior. I’m not sure he should have been going through workouts like that, and cameras in your face at all times can kind of drive you nuts, but, hey, we’re on a reality show. In any event, there’s no excuse for what he did, and I don’t think it was reflective of the kind of guy he is. I’m glad he manned up, admitted he was wrong, and was respectful to Dana in apologizing, all of which, I think, led to them allowing him to stay. Dorian’s a good egg, he actually lives in NY now and trains with me — hopefully we can get his ground game to catch up with his stand up and you will all see a more complete fighter come December 8th at the finale on Spike TV.

LOL. Actually Thorazine, I don’t actually dislike Serra, but if I had to chose which one of the coaches seems to be acting like a dick when being interviewed, I would say “Serra”. Nonetheless, I would root for Hughes anyway. Even though I usually do like to root for the upset.
So technically speaking, you still have disagreed with me yet!
Above statment on Dorian was from Matt Serra’s blog.

Just this last espisode it was getting a little tiresome hearing how much Serra hates Hughes… especially since Hughes has toned it down lately… if Hughes was acting more like he did in TUF 2 I would be down with Serra on that. That whole Joey S. thing was a mess and in the end Serra probably handled it as well as he could under those circumstances.
Someone on here referred to Serra as a little yappin’ chi chua.
One interesting point I did pickup on was in the opening seris of TAPOUT, Serra got a new sponser before he fought GSP, and blew-out the TAPOUT guys. Hughes blew-out his sponser and went with TAPOUT GUYS for less money because the TAPOUT guys sponsered some of his upcomer friends/fighters.
I respect both their decisions, but they come from 2 totally different worlds. I have to say Im liking what I see from Hughes so far, I think he’s sincere in trying to be a better coach and person.
As much of a goofball as Blake is, I listened to his interview and he brings some insight to Hughes. Hughes is very old school wrestling mentality, he needs to update or MMA is going to pass him by.
Ultimate Fighter has really turned into the Ultimate Sissy. Every show so far has somebody whining about something. A “screwed up head” or missing their girlfriend or family. None of these guys so far have the attitude to be a UFC fighter. I’d rather watch reruns of Bodog fights…….The candidates for fighters in the UFC must be really weak these days. I am afraid UFC could be at the end of it’s run….that’s if TUF is the sign of things to come.
Hughes gave Dorian a bloody nose. Hughes wanted to deal with Dorian in his own way. Dorian was just so happy to stay he just laughed! He’s nuts and he knows it!
That was a typical Matt Hughes dick move, that Serra luvs to talk about, but if it’s ok with Dorian it’s ok with me, afterall as long as the guy’s happy.
i thought you had to be a fighter to be on this show i think the camera man could have won if he fought these guys
How can anyone possibly say after watching 4 episodes of this show that Matt Hughes in sincere and trying to be a better coach. He hasn’t even TRIED to tone down the obvious fact that he only cares if he guys win because he wants to beat Serra. He doesn’t give a shit about the fighters on his team which is obvious when he tortures them in practice because ONE guy had a bad fight. And don’t even get me STARTED on his bible study crap. Hughes complains that he can’t let his kids watch the UFC because Serra swears, but I would rather let my kids watch Serra any day of the week as opposed to Hughes. At least Serra acts like a man and you can see he wants these kids to win for themselves, not his team. Beating Hughes is just an added bonus. Except for Mr. “God wants me on Hughes’ Team’, I’ll bet every single fighter on that team thinks Hughes is a complete prick.

Gotcha! good looking out Mike!

No problem John, I always got your back!
“Mac goes on record to profess his hatred for Richie because he wears his hat in a goofy fashion. I’ve got news for you Mac, you had better be prepared to hate a quarter of the male population.”
I don’t think Mac would have any problem with that. I’m worried about them messing with his food cause he’ll flip out.
I think I heard Joe bitching that he just wanted one phone call a day or something. Are the fighters really held there by the show?
i still quite enjoy the show for what it is.
my only beef is that the fights happen right at the end of the episode so if ther are 4 minutes left until the show is over then you obviously know it’s going to be a quick bout.

I’m not a hughes nut hugger, I actually like Serra much better… but I’m making a comparison between TUF seris 2 and this TUF seris, EX: Hughes knows Blake is not going to make it in MMA and despite that he did not treat him like he did Jason Von Flue from TUF 2. There are multiple other comparisons.. but lets not get silly.
Key words… i said I like what I see so far, and qualifying it by saying I “think” he’s sincere this time around (doesnt mean I’m positive). I’m pretty objective with what they show on TV and just take it as it comes and willing to add to my opinion when something telling happens… after last TUF 2 I really disliked Hughes’… he’s sadistic. If you can see he’s transparent and you’re 100%, right, good for you, I’m not convinced… “YET” lol.
Jesse, I don’t understand you. You state “four episodes, four first round snoozers”. Do you even like the show, or MMA for that matter? I thoroughly enjoy the show, doesn’t matter if its three rounds or one. Its good to see all aspects of the show, including the trainings, the guys interacting at the house, fighter/coach commentary, etc. What do you expect? All fighting and nothing else? How about watching UFC Unleashed? Its nothing but fighting. Or maybe for you, how about TNA? Maybe reality is too much for you. Just sit back and enjoy the whole story, dude. As the show progresses, it gets even better. We deserve better than your kvetching.

So you enjoyed the Scarola angle? And that out of an hour show less than 2 minutes are of actual fighting?
We don’t even get real training segments just story arcs.
I wouldn’t mind bringing the challenges back or something else that adds another level of competition. That to me is what makes the show good - and something they seem to be resisting.

WOW FRED, get off Jesse’s back. He knows more about MMA than you know about you and your family. PLUS, Jesse said, and I quote, “four episodes, four first round snoozers”. Which I translate to the 1st 4 fights sucked. Which is 100&% true.
I am with you there, I am warmint to Matt Hughes too

The show needs some English fighters to show you how to fight
