UFC wired
The new syndicated UFC program, “UFC WiRED,” will debut tonight at 10 p.m. ET in more than 130 markets nationwide.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan will host the program, which will showcase some of the most popular bouts ever held inside Octagon.

Here is what is on tap for this evening:

  • Rich Franklin vs. Jason MacDonald (UFC 68)
  • Anderson Silva vs. Travis Lutter (UFC 67)
  • Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra (UFC 69)
  • Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Mirko Cro Cop (UFC 70)

This “hard-hitting one-hour journey back in time” is the first-ever syndicated UFC program, meaning that it should penetrate a very large audience throughout the United States.

It seems as if it is an upgraded version of “Unleashed” with the additional commentary from Rogan. Regardless, we will see tonight what it’s really all about.

You’re right. That was a great fight! What was the UFC thinking when they didn’t put it on tonight’s show? UFC should give the fans the fights we want to see. It seems like they never do. Screw you Dana! You’re corrupt and a joke to the sport! Stop protecting the poster-boy champs with easy fights and burying the fighters you don’t like on the undercard!!

Er, wait, what were we talking about again? Sometimes I get too wrapped up in the moment.

I think thats pretty obvious. Hughes/Serra is coming up soon and you cant have people reminded of how badly Hughes got his ass beat. On the same token, you wont see Serra catching the back of Shonie Carters fist, on the spining back hand that KO’ed Serra either.

That joke could’ve worked, but Serra-GSP is already on the show lol.

ufc.com has the channel guide and where and who is carrying it. Outside of that they are asking if you to ask your local cable provider to carry. Find out what affiliate stations are playing it and write them tell them to carry the show. With enough requests they will pick up a show.

I didn’t waste my time watching this, was it any different than an episode of Unleashed, with the exception of Joe Rogan saying “Hello, and welcome back to the UFC” instead of Goldy? Did Rogan offer any “expert” fight analysis? Was the commentary the original, or was it new?

It seems to me as though the UFC is begining to realize that SPIKE doesn’t deliver as big an audience as they want. But SPIKE’s been good to them so instead of pissing them off by syndicating UFC Unleashed they had Joe Rogan (a more recognizable mainstream face) do UFC Wired.

I like the Unleashed format, it’s just the fights and it’s a ton of them crammed into an hour. I think with Wired, they should put on less fights and offer more insight into the matches, fighter interviews plus the aftermath. It’s also an interesting idea to have Joe do an updated commentary, that way he can monday morning quarter back it so to speak. Maybe even have a one feature fight inparticular where the winner watches the match with Joe and they go over it. Plus it needs to be on in Canada… What the fuck?
