Episode three of The Ultimate Fighter 6 begins with a recap from last week’s fight that was almost as long as the fight itself. The contestants give their thoughts on the fight but when it doesn’t get past the first round there isn’t a whole lot to analyze.
The first sight of Joe-ah has me questioning my commitment to this program but fortunately the next scene is of him on his back getting hammered and I decide to ride it out.
It’s time for the fight picks and Hughes picks Billy Miles to fight John Kolosci. Naturally Serra is all smiles and comments that Hughes made a bad choice.
Billy goes from Brad Imes to Josh Haynes as the camera zooms in on pictures of his rugrat and we get our first gratuitous piano solo of the night. Billy explains that he fights for his son’s honor and when he’s getting pounded on during the fight he will just mumble his name and find the strength to overcome.
Hopefully Coach Hughes doesn’t get wind of this or he might ask Billy to mumble Seth’s name instead.
We immediately get round two of the piano music for Matt’s heart-to-heart with his team about his biological clock. He also pins the blame for his lackluster performance in recent fights on his lack of commitment during training.
Somewhere in Canada, Georges St. Pierre is filing a plagiat suit.
John Kolosci, mugging for the camera like Guy Smiley, gives hope to working-class stiffs around the country with his inspirational story about working for a multibillion-dollar company and fighting on the side only to find himself on the cusp of a dream.
Since I get reprimanded for using the two measly sick days I’m “awarded” each year, I’d love to know where John works so that I can send over my resume. Six weeks off at the beginning of the fiscal year sounds just fine to me.
The guys get some time off to watch UFC 72 and Coach Hughes brings his team some chicken wings from the local grease pit. Apparently they were cooked in Hughes’ armpits based on the stains he flashed us on his shirt.
Coach Serra comes in empty handed and Hughes has a laugh over the fact that he hooked his fighters up with some grub and Serra did not. I’m getting the feeling that we have a short fight coming up since this is the kind of stuff that’s getting airtime.
Later that evening Joe grabs some booze and starts whining again and I started fantasizing that Matt would press a button and send Joe tumbling down a shoot to an underground lair where he would be devoured by a rancor.
Somehow men are born with the innate ability to detect an alcoholic beverage being opened from up to 300 yards away. Think of a cat and a can of tuna and you get the idea.
One by one the other guys in the house saunter in and what starts as a pity-party for Joe turns into Lord of the Flies as the cast goes berserk and trashes everything in sight. A couple of idiots take turns punching themselves in the face and smashing garbage can lids over their heads.
Normally I’d be shocked that alcohol could spark such bizarre behavior but I’ve heard that reading the prologue to Opening Day at Great American Ballpark has the same effect.
Serra gets wind of the latest on Joe and actually tells him that if he walks out on the show, he walks out on his job at Serra Jiu-Jitsu. Drago gets on and gives a very funny boo-hoo speech.
Dana returns from Ireland and gives Joe the same lecture everyone else did. He does get a laugh for saying “I don’t want to give the same old ‘Do you wanna be a fighter’ speech” but I must confess this was as good a place as any to use it. He even warns him that going home will end any chance of a career in the UFC.
One thing about Joe, you can’t say he wasn’t warned.
Finally, mercifully, Joe calls it quits and spares us any more episodes that revolve around him being homesick. They should have made him take the walk of shame that SEAL recruits take but at that point I was just happy to see him go.
John sums it up best: “That guy is just a little bitch”
We get back to training and Billy Miles looks as healthy as Christian Bale in The Machinist as he tries to cut from 189 to 170 lbs. Unfazed, Billy remarks about John: “I’ll grind him until he breaks”. Having a career in high-pressure sales, I can appreciate his mentality.
In one of the biggest WTF? moments in recent TUF memory, the camera is locked on Billy hitting the heavy bag and inexplicably pans upward to a mural of Ken Shamrock. It briefly pauses and slowly returns to Billy. Dear God I hope there isn’t a hidden message there.
It’s the day of the fight and John wakes up with chills and shortness of breath. He’s either suffering from a touch of the flu or the touch of a teammate. The way staph has been going around lately I’d be training inside a plastic bubble.
The fight begins and admittedly I have little invested in either fighter. I’m not sure if it was the time wasted on Joe or the fact that once again we have six minutes left in the show and no punches have been thrown.
Round one starts with some circling and feeling out. Billy throws a stiff right and John decides he’s gonna roll the dice and shoot. Billy almost fights it off but John finishes it and slams him to the mat.
John can’t do much from the top except throw the occasional strike and that allows Billy to escape and reverse position. Billy does practically nothing himself except hold on tight ala Herring/O’Brien.
John looks over at Serra like he’s on The Price Is Right looking into the crowd for a price on dish soap. Serra tells him to breath and John finds his arm under Billy’s neck almost by accident.
John applies a guillotine in what could easily challenge Danzig’s triangle as the slowest submission attempt in the history of The Ultimate Fighter. Trapped and broken, Billy quickly taps.
I guess he couldn’t mumble his son’s name with John’s arm around his throat.
John wins and Serra is one happy camper. Hughes looks like he was just stood up at the prom. Dana has a laugh over the fact that Billy choked both literally and figuratively. I’m sure Billy appreciated that.
Another episode is in the books and I’m not exactly overwhelmed. It hasn’t been terrible and I know it’s only episode three, but I just have that feeling that we’ve already covered this material. The previews did show some pretty wild stuff so I remain optimistic.
Stay tuned next week as Matt gets his mad on, Dorian stomps around the crew like Godzilla in Tokyo, and someone runs the risk of going home.
See you then!

What happened to the no booze policy from Season I!?
We do not need an another Chris Leben breakdown!
=p
I hope Noah.. ergh. Joe goes home tonight, I am so sick of him and his girlfriend complaining.
Hopefully there is a fight tonight.
not to change the subject but rashad v bisping slated for 78
i hope somepne either beats joes ass or he gets kicked off what a pussy and yah i wanna see some guys get sloppy drunk and try to fight eachother
who do u think will fight next
not to change the subject but rashad v bisping slated for 78
I just read that off UFC.com
WOW!!!
I strongly dislike both of these fighters, now I really will not like this match! As long as someone gets KTFO, I will be extremely happy!

I know what you mean - it is kind of like lose/lose rather than win/win. I would rather wait to have Hamill do the deed.
Dana is turning into a manchild again.

I would rather have Hamill fight Bisping again, but at least.. AT LEAST I will not have to keep hearing about Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz II. I would of boycotted that PPV, unless it happened on that Decemeber BlockBuster Card.
Evans style just annoys me horribly, and Bisping just seems like a punk.
So hopefully this does not go to a draw… I PRAY that it does not go to a draw.
NC,
I hear you.
Peace
NC,
Then who is going up against Tito????? This could be interesting!!!!!
NC,

You would have to think it is either one of four people
Dan Henderson at UFC 78
Wanderlei Silva (again) at UFC 79
Chuck Liddell (not likely but possible) at UFC 79
Shogun Rua at UFC 80/81
I mean sure, you could throw in Tito/Jardine, Tito/Alexander, Tito/Lyoto
But I mean it really comes down to Henderson, Silva, Liddell or Rua.
It is confusing. Or maybe Tito will turn on Matt Hamill and attempt to fight him.
Or maybe a Tito/Griffin II fight in ‘08
ugh.. Thanks Dana.

LOL
Joey is an ultra bitch. I heard he had his period - that’s why he really left the house.
i will boycott UFC 78 if its headlined by rashad and bisping, the two fighters i never wanted to see again
Joey is a disgrace to Matt Serra and the rest of his team back in Long Island. Ohhhh I miss my girlfriend….wah wah wah
Is it just me or did Hughes say that he wanted his daughter to watch his fights when she’s SIX YEARS OLD? And was anyone else weirded out by Dana’s touching heart to heart with Scarola?
i have hated bisbing since his first self promoting arrogant tv appearence on tuf 3, and his last fight was like adding salt to an open wound on your johnson (yes that painful). but anyways how come so many seem to suddenly hate rashad? im no great fan of his but i would rathter kiss him then clap for bisbing. just curious
lol, i knew it was only a matter of time until joey left or got kicked out, with all the camera time he was getting about being sad ahhahahahaha what a bitch, i wish i could take his spot(without the loss)lol and im only 160pnds… but ya this episode was pretty funny hahaha, punching themselves in the face n shit. hopefully the next fight is better…billy was a joke all hype no fight
Thank god that crybaby Scarola is off the damn show. He was seriously painful to watch.
I loved how Matt Serra flat out told Joey that he can’t have a guy like that working for him because people would question the school’s integrity (not in those words exactly either).
You know what really disgusted me was how quick Joey stabbed his friend in the back. He was Serra’s best man and he not only messed his career up, but he threw away a friendship.
Anyway, good riddance.
Also, it was nice to see Hughes’ team suffer another loss. Whether or not Serra is for real is debatable, but I REALLY hope he smashes Hughes’ face in and Hughes walks away from the sport earlier than he even predicted.
i think the whole panning up business during the heavy bag work was just to show that the entire metal frame was shaking. i actually didn’t even notice the ken shamrock picture.
i think you’re right jackson. i didnt see shamrock either. maybe jesse just has an eye for shirtless men hmm?
Matt Sarra is a horrible judge of character. He knew what kind of fighter Joe was, yet he still staked his reputation by bringing this kid on the show. This was his choice for best man, yet he can’t say anything to convince Joe to stay? Joe is pussy whipped, plain and simple. He is in for a rude awakening when his girlfriend (and everyone else he knows) sees his short 15 minutes of shame. I’m glad they won’t televise the train wreck that will be the rest of Joe’s life. Serra should have cut him loose after the first week, but like I said he’s a horrible judge of character.
Matt Hughes makes baby Jesus cry.
Joey, what a girlie-man. his girl-friend probably spanks him with a leather belt if he doesn’t do the dishes in a pink tutu and high heels. he probably gets his ass waxed.
Joe-ah..I was shocked believe it or not that he left..after the first episode..I read an interview of his..where he stated..he didn’t walk out..by my trusted eyes he did..what a dudd..Serra stuck his neck out on the line for this guy..and this is how he repays him??? Wow..I was thinking after the first two..” I wanna go home ” cry me a river speech..he would just ride it out as a BJJ coach..which is not a bad job..Matt breaks it down to him..” if you walk out of this show..you walk out on your job back home ” Pete Sell ” You wanna go back to a bank job ” …Dana gave him the lil’ bro treatment/ speech & hug.. and he packed up..to go see his Girl back in NY..as if he was going to die in 24 hrs…he basically crapped on himself.
This fight was cool..you can tell how long the fight will be with how much time is left..Hughes takes a blow to his ego..his fight pick..got choked out by on some grappling 101.
Dorian spazzing out on a crew member is what I’m intrested in seeing..maybe counseling can help?? Dana looked like he wsa not having that..and how does the sport look..where ish like that goes down..not good.
I get satisfaction in knowing that Joey’s girl will leave him when she finds out he has no job! F’n Idiot!
Jesse, excellent write up as usual, LOVED the one liners!!!
Thank God Joe Scarola finally left. He is the cast member I hate the most out of every season. I have never seen such a pussy. WHY was he on this show in the first place? Obviously, his skill set alone would have never gotten him onto the show - he’s been trying to for years. But now that his best friend Matt Serra is champ, and a coach, and actually matters again to the UFC, Matt’s able to pull a few strings and get his buddy a spot on Season 6. Joe pays his best friend back by acting like the biggest pussy whipped baby I have ever seen. I thought that he was married, or with his ‘girl’ for a long time, but they’ve only been together for 6 months. He was willing to give up his dream of fighting in the UFC, give up his job at a premier BJJ gym, give up a friendship with his best friend, and look like a pussy on national tv for what? As he would say, “To lay in bed next to his girl and lick his wounds together” What a joke. I can’t believe Dana talked to him so calmly. He should have ripped him a new one. Joe leaving was the happiest moment of my day yesterday.
I was like, after all this BS, we better get a good fight! Was that even a fight? After seeing Bily Miles performance, I was almost like, “Bring back Scarola” At least Scarola lasted longer and I think he may have thrown a punch. When Miles was motionlessly hugging his opponent, I was thinking, “what the hell are you doing, you know this is a fight, not a spooning contenst”
Billy Miles and Joe Scarola put on the two worst performances I have ever seen in the ocatagon. You want to talk about not having heart? I actually wouldnt even call them performances. Why dedicate yourself to becoming a fighter and then when you have that 1 golden opportunity to make it in the fight game, you come out and do absolutely nothing. Not only that, but both of those fighters quit, for no reason at all, without even taking any punishment, and looked for a way out of the fight.
At first, last season I thought it was a good idea to have the whole season dedicated to one weight class. But after seeing these two fight especially, they need to go back to 2 weight classes. They get too many bums that couldnt fight their way out of a wet paper bag. It’s not even entertaining watching someone quit and try to get choked out in the first round. Leave out the chumps, and have 8 REAL fighters from 2 different weight classes. This way, we won’t have to sit throught all these crappy 1-sided fights for the first half of the season!
Was anyone else creeped out by the weight cutting process?
That big bald guy is un-nerving.

TUF Hall of Poohnanni
1. Gabe ” Da Icecream Cake ”
2. Noah ” I’m in da Qtr-finals, and some1 told my girl I’m cheating on her ”
3. Joe-ah ” My Best Friend, BJJ teacher, UFC Champ..got me on this show..that I wanted to be on for 3 yrs..oh F’ it..I just wanna see my girl now “
The IDEAL situation here would be the following :
Joe goes home to find out that his girlfriend was caught blowing Stephan Marbury in a Hummer. I bet that”the love of his life” of which he was only with for 6 months had the train ran on her by the Hofstra football team.
Guy threw any chance at being a fighter for a girl he probably isn’t even with anymore. Not to mention he is unemployed. Great job buddy.
I’m glad Joe left the show
and so far I’m 3 for 3 on selecting who I would like to win on each fight
I know there’s no proof of this jus saying no reason to lie
I got danzig against mandoloniz in the main event anyway
and arroyo, saunders, koppenhaver and sotiropolos from team serra
and tommy speer from team hughes all advancing
team serra 6
team hughes 2 into 2nd round
is it me or does this show suck or what.
Actually, Joe was correct his girlfriend is actually Browne Sanders, the girl who was sexually harrassed by Issah Thomas. So it is probably good that he went home to cry.
*this is a joke*

most pathetic moment was when write his girlfriend’s name on the wall like some 15 year old dork. or maybe it was when he whined that he wished he brought a penis pump with him cause he’s horny. or maybe it was two minutes after he promised serra he was going to stick it out, he started to moan that he wants a phonecall with his girl and then sat there like a baby sitting in shit saying that since he fought there is no reason for him to fulfill his obligation to the show and his friend. he should visit iraq and see real men and women who are away from their families for months and don’t get tio chill in a mansion. he’s a disgrace.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Billy Miles has a mental breakdown like every person that lost has. It has to be humbling, if not humiliating, to have to live with the winners for the rest of the time on the show.
Since his girl wouldn’t be expecting him back home so soon, hopefully when Joe got home he walked in on his girl sucking on Tim Sylvia’s nipples.

What can I say Mike? U pretty much summed it up the way I saw it. Scarola is worse then any other cast member by far.. He is such a pussy I dont even know what to say.. “I wanna c my girl” Grow the F up. He has been with the girl for only 6 months… What a tool……… Poor Serra had to be loyal and make that pussy his 1st pick.
Im happy that Hughes pick blew up in his face.. He didnt throw any strikes at all… he just held on to the dude. What a gutless, heartless fag. He said it was tough fighting in front of all those people……. r u kidding me, there were like 20 people watching. How the hell wouuld he perform in front of 20,000 drunk, screaming, and boooing fans.
I cant wait to see that freakin lunatic Dorian Spazz out next week.

Yes, i saw the pic too, i was like this guy didn’t exactly leave as an impressive coach, why show us his picture while billy was training.
No disrespect to other fighter such as pat militech, but losing to a standing guillotine like Billy did is just one of the stupidestt ways to lose, I mean come on..

Just curious or bi-curious?
joe u make us long islanders look bad.. terrible
Joe is such a pussy. Glad he left and I hope that Serra really kicks him out of his schools.

..very suspect.
the reason hughes team wont win is because they are too busy reading the bible while serra,s team is training. hughes is lucky he got danzig though. matt hughes is so arrogant though that he’ll probably screw himself over in the end.
i see a young mickey rourke in john kolosci
‘I hate that guy’
Everyone and their mother’s told Joey what would happen, he’s seen previous shows, goofed on guys that quit. Promised Serra he would not quit, asking Dana for 3 yrs to go on ultimate fighter, now he knows he’s going to lose his job at Serra’s gym, seriously, what a head case. Go see a psychiatrist, get on some anti-D’s, and find another career, this one is wasted, no one in a combatant sport will ever give him respect and he’s not the type of guy to go back and earn it somewhere else.
Joey didn’t have to fight anymore, all he had to do was stay in the house for a few more weeks, quit crying, help Serra coach and then when the show was over, quit MMA and respectably go back to teaching jujitsu, how hard would that have been? What a immature child (29yrs old?). At this point it’s not about being an MMA fighter it’s about being a man and living up to your obligation and backing your friend and team.
I feel mostly bad for Matt Sera, he made a bad choice for a friend, stuck to his beliefs (right or wrong) and picked him 1st to save him from Matt Hughes, he practically beg Joey to stay, he let him down. Joey was selfish and wasn’t a friend that would back him up when he needed or asked for his help. It wasn’t like Sera was asking for a lot. Sera has a lot with to contend with on and after the show, and what happened with Joey was the worst case scenerio for Serra.
I was absolutely fooled on this fight, the Billy Miles build up made him look like a monster going in and John (Fight Club) Kolosci looked timid…lol. I liked Kolosci’s attitude and hoped he would win and shocked when he did. I have to remember anytime a guy says “fighting is fun” and means it (with a big smile) and likes to get hit… they are true scrappers. I hope he keeps the I’ve got nothing to lose attitude and doesnt let the pressure get to him.
As for Miles, as soon as he was taken down, he lost composure and confidence and then tapped early, what else can you say about the guy? Hughes is getting his hate on towards him, like a good Christian.
Down 1-2, watch the devil come out in Matt and workouts turn into a demented torture chamber for the weak.. Hallajueh! I hope he quotes bible scripter in his workouts from hell. lol…

Thanks John. Who are you more of a fan or, Hughes or Serra? I am a fan of Hughes. He really ain’t as bad as people make him out to be, ESPECIALLY Serra. Do you every hear Hughes say bad things about Serra - never, he just said that he thinks that he got lucky against GSP, and that Serra isn’t even in the top 10 of the WW division. Well, wake up Serra - both of those statement are true, or damn near true. You would lose 9 out of 10 times to GSP, and you probably weren’t even ranked in the top 25 prior to the GSP fight. On the other hand, Serra says bad stuff about Matt Hughes at any given opportuntiy. He’ll even go out of his way to say “Matt Hughes is a d*ck”. Serra is the one that comes off looking the jerk.
It appears toe me from what I can see from afar is that Matt Hughes is one of those people that once you get to know him, and become friends with him, you are treated much differently than the ‘average person’ so to say. One instance I can think of was on TapOut, when Hughes and PunkAss were fighting a bit in that store, and Huhges threw that kick to the gut of PunkAss and laid him out. Then Hughes and crew riding quads out there. It looks like he really wants to act like a kid and have fun. I see nothing wrong with that once you are all set in life.
Matt Serra kept his word!!!
I just checked out his school’s website..when I clicked on instructor’s..Joe Scarola was not one of them.

Dorian’s take on next week’s episode,
I understand that they are gonna make me out to be a crazy nigga on next weeks episode. Well for the record i want to apologize ahead of time for my behavior there was a reason i kirked out and I’m sure they won’t show it. I’ll explain later. What i did was wrong I shouldn’t have rushed the camera man. Everybody around me told me don’t do the show for several reasons two being that i had a obvious weakness on the ground which every body saw and the other will air next week. America loves nothing more than to make a nigga appear to be crazy. At this point it is what it is but i’d just like to but that out there. In closing i’d just like to say that instead of rushing the camera man i should of rushed the cocksuckas who edited the show. Fuck you cowards who get on those forums and talk shit on me and other fighters.
So if you’re not his friend, he treats you like garbage? Outside of the stuff that’s been floating out there (like telling Joe Riggs’ wife that he was sorry that he had to kick her husband’s ass), the fact that he made his team read a story from the Bible and then tell him which character most resembled MATT HUGHES, says it all. I don’t have a real problem that he made his team read the Bible. If he’s devout, then it’s understandable — he’s trying to save souls. If he asked them which character they identified with the most, that too would be understandable. But it’s an ultimate act of hubris to ask which character that MATT HUGHES resembles the most.

Well said I totally agree with you, serra is acting like 10 times the jerk that hughes is. Hughes only has a problem with serra because he constantly bad mouth’s him and is genuinely not impressed with him as a fighter, like myself and most people. Hughes does seem rough around the edges but he’s just a rough and tough kinda guy and likes to kid around. Serra to most people is coming off like the a hole not hughes I believe.
mania you suck.
my post is back but for some lame reason still awaiting moderation????? whatever.

LOL I said the same thing to my girlfriend. That look so disturbing.
on TUF blog, Serra says he was true to his word and Joey is not teaching at any of his schools and their friendship has suffered a ripple effect. He goes on further to say, Joey was interviewed by a sports psychologist prior to auditioning for TUF and advised that Joey not go on the reality show. However, Serra decided on taking advice and Joey’s persistance and relented.
I think Serra has treated him fairly and objectively for such a subjective experience.

LOL… I didn’t realize how fnnn** funny/twisted that clip was until you commented on it… that is right up there with the best!
Am I the only one that noticed that once again dumbass DANA WHITE states at the weigh-ins of this fight “BILLY’S BETTER BLAH BLAH BLAH BILLY’S GONNA WIN THIS FIGHT.” So once again I knew immediately after that there was no way Billy would win. One more thing..During all Joey’s homesick crying stories I figured this GIRLFRIEND he was so desperate to propose to was obviously also the mother of his 9 yr old child he kept mentioning, and then after he leaves we find out they’d known each other for 6 MONTHS!! SORRY BUT THAT’S BULLSHIT, WHY DON’T YA THINK OF YOUR CHILD OF 9 YEARS AND MAKE SOME MONEY AND A LIFE INSTEAD OF PROPOSING TO THIS BITCH OF 6 MONTHS THAT HAS YOU SO WHIPPED??? PLEASE…
i was just goofin jesse i really like your write-ups

I read your shit some of you posted on me and guess what ya some dumb muthafuckas yeh I ain’t got no ground game but I dare anyone of you fags to stand with me.
