Awesome video! Going to cincy to see Franklin get his belt back! — and this will be the only time so far that I’ll be a Tim Sylvia fan – hoping he puts Vera to sleep in 1

I dont want Franklin to win.

If Franklin wins who will he defend his title against?

If Franklin wins we will get Franklin/Henderson MW TUF – which will put MW on hold for Six to Seven Months?

If Silva wins we will see an imediate defense against winner of Mcdonald/Okami? (if Okami wins)

Good point – but would you really want to see Silva Vs Okami or Macdonald? I’d rather have Franklin back in the drivers seat.

I want nothing more than for Franklin to break Silva’s nose and put him to sleep. That being said, he is going to lose. It’s unfortunate, but he is just out-classed. I hope I am wrong.

If Sylvia loses his fight to “The Truth”, it would be a demoralizing loss for the former champ, and possibly the end of his career with the UFC. If not the end of his career, a slide straight to the bottom of the barrel. I predict a Sylva knockout in the second round however.

The UFC needs to get some competition in the MW division. I can’t figure out why this TUF season is for welterweights which is already stacked. It should have been middleweight. If I was a lightheavy, someone like Bisbing, I’d seriously be considering dropping to MW.

I would love to see Silva vs Okami, yeah Silva would probably dominate, but I like Okami, I think he would beat Franklin if they fought again. I know Silva and Okami met before and Silva losed due to disqualifying kick that knocked out Okami, so I would to see them fight in the Octagon. Okami has earned his shot, (as long as he dominates McDonald).

I dont understand why everyone seems to hate Okami?

Not even many international hardcore fans would LOVE to see Silva/Okami. I don’t know about you guys, but Okami just doesn’t do much for me. I’ve been saying this ever since the first time I’ve seen him fight. Also, Okami is NOT a finisher. Out of his 5 UFC fights (I think he’s had 5 now) he has only finished 2 fighters – Kalib Starnes and Rory Singer. That’s not exactly the cream of the crop of the MW division, PLUS he finished them in the 3rd round, one of them very late into the 3rd round. And what the hell was he thinking against Franklin? How do you take the first 2 and a half rounds off in a 3 round fight and hope to win a decision?

Internationally, Silva/Okami would be a huge fight, but here in the states, they can easily have this be one of the first televised fight on the card. For example, if that fight was scheduled for this past PPV, Liddell/Jardine, Fitch/Sanchez and Forrest/Rua would have all been WAY bigger matches. And actually, I would have also been looking more forward to Tavarez/Griffin than Silva/Okami, but they would have shown Tavarez/Griffin before Silva/Okami no matter what.

On the other hand, I LOVE watching Anderson Silva fight!!!!

I think Franklin is going to surprise a lot of people in this fight. Regardless of what some (lots of) people have been posting on this forum, nobody is unbeatable, and Franklin has the size, power and intelligence to beat Spider and get his title back. Vera is going to use a series of body kicks to soften Sylvia up, even more than nature has already done to his shapeless flabbiness. Then when Sylvia is doubled over to protect his ribs Vera gets a Thai clinch and knees Sylvia into blissful unconsciousness.

(THE ONLY TRUE FINISHER IS FLORIAN jk )

I actually like Okami – I know he is known as a slow starter but I think that’s just his style – he nearly submitted franklin at 72? Of his 4 losses, 3 were due to decisions. He’s one tough fighter – I’d like to see if Silva could finish him.
I guess the biggest problem here is that the MW division doesn’t have as much depth as the other divisions. I think it’d be wise to drop Hendo to 185 and if they could get Paulo in there – we’d be set for a year or two.

Oh, I agree. franklin will surprise everybody. I’ll spoil it though. In this fight he is actuall going to let Silva’s knee go right through his head. no pansy nose breaking stuff. rich has really upped his training for this. In true former champion class, Rich is gonna give the fans what they deserve, death inside the cage. Knee straight through the face, then out the back of the head. silva won’t know what didn’t hit him. LOL

only really part of the gsp beats Serra crowd, but your argument is crap. None of those guys had fought eachother previously. franklin and Silva have fought before. It was preconceivable that those guys had a chance at pulling an upset. franklin had the same ” size, power, and intelligence” when they fought the first time. nothing’s changed. franklin looses 999 times out of a 1000. Everyone gets that one punchers chance. Of course it would be near impossible for Rich to knockout Silva.

If MacDonald could actually get Silva to the ground he could beat him. Silva’s ground game looked like crap against Lutter. But MacDonalds take downs and stand up were pathetic against Franklin. When Sliva does get beat, it will be Ground and pound, not strikes.

Silva’s ground didn’t look great against Lutter, but he submitted him. Although Lutter was a complete lazy ass for the fight, he’s got real goof BJJ. As far as ground and pound, I don’t know what a good gameplan to beat Silva is. he’s not unbeatable by any means, but who’s gonna beat him. maybe paulho Filho, maybe Chonan

What everyone forgets about Silva’s match against Lutter was that he had knee surgery on both knees prior to his bout against him. His ground defense against Marquardt(who is one of the better BJJ middleweights) was great and sustained little damage on his back. I do agree that when he loses, it will be via ground and pound but it’s harder than people think.

Rich’s only chance is ground and pound and he is not known for his ground game. I think Silva is better in all aspects of the game. Striking, clinch, and the ground game.

Sorry, if english is not the main language of choice in Brazil. But, soon Franklin can join the non-english speaking mofo’s of the world. Since the only thing Franklin is going to speak after the match is pig latin.

Mania, you should let me pick the winners of UFC 77 with you and Jesse Holland. We need to make it a 3 Team Table now!

Actually, mania now has top commentators do write-up analysis and also make thier picks for the UFC events in addition to Jesse’s picks. Luppers was the first one to do it, he did for the UFN 11 I believe. I actually don’t remember who did this past PPV, maybe that one was Luppers… If it wasn’t I appologize for not remembering right at this moment.

Oh I know. I was just saying because Mania has not had his input in the past two events, I was offering to have a 3 person round table instead of Blogger A and Jesse, because Mania does have some good inputs sometimes that changes my bets and picks over on the playground.

I dont want to see an Okami/Franklin II, and I REALLY dont want to see a Franklin/Macdonald II!

I mean if Anderson wins and so does Okami that poses a real nice threat to beat Anderson Silva and a great psyichal match-up.

But Honestly this division is in shambles. I mean with CHRIS LEBEN winning his fight against Terry Martin, honestly Leben could be in the top 5 in this division, and thats saying that sadly with a straight face.

I think Thales Leites deserves the next shot at the champion, and yet that could happen, and I would love to see me some Leites vs. Silva!

This division needs to get healthy because it has alot of potentials and alot of stars possibly coming out for it.

Drew McFedries
Martin Kampmann
D. Maia
Travis Lutter
Kendall Grove
Michael Bisping (possibly)
Terry Martin
Chris Leben
Thales Leites
Evan Tanner (hopefully one day)
Dean Lister
Patrick Cote
Yushin Okami
Jason MacDonald
(maybe) Dan Henderson
Rich Franklin
Anderson Silva

I mean if people can get healthy, and people can come back and drop weight. This division is stacked and would have some VERY intriguing fights.

yeah, it would be nice. The middleweight division is now the only one lacking in talent. You could pretty much book fights for all of next year with the potential matchups in some of the other weight classes. I would like to see some tougher competition for Franklin and Silva. Okami gave Franklin some difficulty, but after that its a big drop in talent.

I was just looking at the UFC 77 fight card over at ufc.com and they have Matt Grice’s record at 9-0. HOWEVER, at the first PPV in England he got choked out by Terry Etim. He has a loss on his record, I wonder if it was a typo, or if Etim failed the post fight steroid test, lol. He may have failed the bulimia test, but not the steroid test!

When you click on grice’s picture, it takes you to his ufc fighter link, and it lists the loss to Etim as his only ufc history. i hope Grice can beat jason black. I’m from Oklahoma so I’ve gotta support him. I guess I don’t have to, I don’t care much for david heath. Grice’s nickname sucks, should be skeletor or something like that.

LOL, however, I’d be willing to bet my life that if Anderson Silva fought Michael Bisping that it would NOT go to the scorecards. Actually, I don’t see any of Anderson Silva’ fights going to the scorecards against anyone in the division, especially considering he’s champ so they are 5 round bouts. Henderson is the only one that I think can last 5 rounds with him, and I also think Hendo can finish him as well.
