This fight has about as much a chance at an upset as Franklin vs. Silva….. none at all. Hendo has never been knocked out, which doesn’t really matter since Tit - o isn’t exactly a knock out artist, and Hendo is by far the more accomplished grappler and striker. Tito has a better chance than franklin in pulling the upset, but still I don’t think it is very likely. fortunately, tito just signed off on a new contract, and we can all pretty much assume he is going to make a killing off of being killed..

This makes it a little bit better but the rest of the cards are still pretty sad.

If Tito is hungry, he’ll train to counter Dan’s style. That’s his only chance. I imagine that Tito has been thinking “Hmmm” having seen all of the upsets of late. If he is really hungry, he has a solid shot at defeating Dan. If he comes in as just the rockstar of the UFC, then he’s finished.

I really don’t think Dan will be taking Tito lightly. A loss to Tito Ortiz (who borders on being a caricature of himself these days) would be completely unacceptable. Losing to Rampage is an honorable defeat. It was a hard-fought battle against a very skilled opponent. Losing to Tito would just be embarrassing.

Chuck vs Shogun winner faces the winner of the Henderson fight..back into top of the order for the victor.

It’s interesting to se the UFC go with Dan Henderson to Fight Tito instead of Rashad Evans. Eventhough Henderson is a better fighter I think people really wanted to see Tito Duke it out with Rashad in a grudge match. I personally think Dan Henderson could drop down to the middle weight division and challange the winner of Silva vs Franklin, but if he’s more comfortable @ 205 so be it. I’m picking Hnderson in this fight because Tito likes to out wrestle people,hold them on their back and do damage inside his opponent’s guard and there’s no way he’s going to out wrestle Dan Henderson and no way he’s going to hold Dan on his back. Also I think Henderson has the better standup. He has a leathle right hand and great greeko skills. Although anything can happen in this sport, which has been a popular topic on this story, I’m still picking Henderson in this fight.

Tito has a great chance against Hendo, Tito is way bigger than Hendo, and they are both coming from wrestling background, yeah Hendo has a nice right hand but he is not a kickboxer like Liddell, so it would be a pretty even fight, even if Hendo wins this fight it won’t be an easy win.

I just went to ticketmaster, and then UFC.com. I cannot find out the onsale info. Can you PLEASE post the ticket information for this event. I CAN’t FIND it. Now the Henderson is fighting Tito, I AM THERE, but I need to know if they go on sale tomorrow. My brother in law is getting married tomorrow morning and my wife and I are in the wedding party, so I don’t even know how I’ll be able to pull off the purchase, but for that fight - I’ll make it happen!!!!!!

houston and Rashad would be an interesting match up, I would really love to see Houston fight Waderlei. houston is so damn aggressive. Wandi and him would be a good one.

I would be surprised if this fight did not happen because of the limbo of the LW title fight The UFC needs a big name fight to boost sales to this (UFC 78) event. It’s unfortunate for Tito though because Dan is going to embarrass him. Right now Tito can still draw sales but after he gets dominated by Dan his Marquee status will be lost for good.

Sherdog had written a column, shortly after Henderson’s loss to Jackson (or was it before?), about how the UFC had not built up Dan Henderson enough to make the fight more exciting for casual fans. By matching up Henderson agains Ortiz, I think that Henderson’s recognition will grow enormously. It will probably grow more after he beats Tito, than losing a close decision to Rampage.
I see Henderson taking this one. Both are good wrestlers, but I think Dan’s right hand will be the difference.

(this one is top 3 best upsets ever)

Frankly Im blown away by this fight. You honestly cannot say that you saw this one lined up. In my opinion, this easily saved the card and if this is a definite, I will take back my words and actually attend UFC 78.

If Tito Couldn’t get Rashad all the way on his back, he definently will not be able to get Dan on his. And if Rashad was able to get Tito all the way down on his back, in that last round, than Dan DEFINENTLY will be able to. Theres the grappling.

IMO Hendo should move to 185. Although I dont think he matches up with Anderson Silva that well, he is a true middleweight. Maybe due to his age he doesn’t want to make the cut anymore, but I don’t see him having alot of success at LHW.

I think Tito takes this fight. Henderson now is like Vitor in 05 but with better grappling. Everyone said ahh Tito is going to get demolished by Vitor and look what happened.

Rampage has stated numerous times that when he grapples with Tito, Tito always beat him and pretty decisively. Rampage outwrestled Dan in their last fight in the later rounds. Tito could defiantly outwrestle Dan later on in their fight. If this fight happens it will most likely come down to who has the better striking that night and who was more willing to engage in exchanges. Dan has better striking on paper, but Tito’s striking is very good…Tito however only uses his striking to set up takedowns.

I got Tito by split! Back in forth is what this fight will ultimately play out like.

GREAT NEWS! i hope it’s true, i’ve been saying since ufc 73 that i would rather see ortiz and evans go on to fight different fighters. they fought a good fight and it’s unfortunate it had to be a draw but i don’t really wanna see it again.

I’m very upset that this fight isn’t going to happen. I was thinking abou tmaking the drive to go to this but with the lightweight title not happening and Dan Henderson not happening this event is basically dead. They need to put a high profile fight on this card. Unfortunatly all titles can’t happen in this fight. Randy Couture suffered a broken arm in the fight against Gabe Gonzaga so that’s out, both lightheavyweight contenders just fought and need recovery time (Jardeen @ ufc 76, Forrest Griffen @ UFC 76) and the UFC won’t rob either of those men of the next title shot. The middleweight title will be fought for @ UFC 77. The Welterweight title is happening in December @ UFC 79 as well as the the lightweight title thanks to CSAC setting Sean Sherks steroid appeal for October 31. With that in mind what I would like to see is a contender bout to determin who will fight the winner of Hughes vs Serra between Georges St. Pierre and John Fitch. Although I don’t believe this will happen I can allways dream.

Dream away and pass the dutchie. The math works out so that Kos and Fitch would be next in line. I want to see it happen, AKA has three fighters at 170 and they all want to contend, it’s time to see who the top dog is.

It would have been a great fight, but I would still like to see hendo drop to middleweight. He needs to defend his title and unify it with the ufc title. I think he would have an easier time fighting franklin than anderson silva, but either way there arnt a lot of fighters in middle who could stand up to him. It would be nice to see him dominate the division, cause he seems like somone the ufc would want as a poster boy. But still it would have been nice to Hendo knock that big ogre, tito, out.

Im really looking forward to Houston’s next fight also. Although I would like to see one more “B” level fighter before he gets close to a title shot. In particular, seeing him smash someone like Bisping would be great. I think he needs to demolish someone first to increase his confidence in order for him to take on someone like Wandi

I think Karo is ahead of Kos in that line. What makes the most sense right now would be to schedule a #1 contender bout between Karo and Fitch around the beginning of spring (about the same time that GSP will be getting his title shot). Then the winner of Karo/Fitch gets the winner of GSP/winning-Matt for WW title. That should clear up the top-5 pecking order pretty nicely.

Anyone who thinks Dan will run through Tito, is in for a rude awakening. Tito is far from finished and is a threat to ANYONE in the LHW division.
