Din Thomas
Lightweight veteran Din Thomas will be on the shelf for possibly up to four months because of the knee injury he suffered in his first round submission loss to Kenny Florian during the UFC Fight Night 11 main event, according to MMAWeekly.com.

Here’s a snip:

“Thomas appeared to suffer the knee injury when shooting in for an unsuccessful wrestling takedown on Florian. Moments later, Florian was on his back peppering him with punches and then locking in a rear naked choke for the submission. Results from an MRI showed that Thomas suffered a torn meniscus, stretched anterior cruciate ligament, and bruised femur and tibia.”

“Dinyero” will see a specialist next week and more than likely have surgery sometime in October. The rehabilitation is expected to take two weeks, at which time he can resume light training.

And while the rehab time seems short, the report indicates that Thomas might not get back in the cage until early 2008. That’s certainly a set back for an experienced fighter who was in the hunt for a title shot less than three weeks ago.

Thomas mentioned that he would like to rematch Florian once he is healthy.

Ken Flo is the real deal. Din, dont be surprised when he imposes his will on you again.

4 months isn’t long at all for a knee injury. I was expecting Din to be out longer than that. And when he is healthy, I believe that he does deserve a rematch with Kenny, unless Kenny is the champ at the time. Then of course Din would have to work his way up the ladder to become the #1 contender.

Without that problem, who knows how that fight would have gone. Hopefully when he gets back, he can fight good named fighters and climb back to the top spots in the division.

I would love to see a re-match between these two, but I still think the result would of been the same, KenFlo coming out on top. But I dont think he would finish Din by submission

What are you talking about. Din shot in and busted up his knee. Are you saying that was a result of KenFlo? I dont care if you’re a KenFLo fan or not, you need to accept the reality that that fight needs to be set up again because the best man has yet to be determined.

Kenny landed at leat 9 inside leg kicks to the leg he hurt. It is not impoosible to think that’s why he made a bad shot and busted his knee. He was winning both rounds before Din got hurt. Kenny should fight a solid guy and get the winner of Penn-Stevenson. Ken should fight the winner of Fisher-Guida or Griffin.

That was a result of Din mocking KillFlo earlier in the fight, sort of a Karmic payback. You don’t mess with The KillFlo, brother. BTW Midion, the fight didn’t go to the second round.

I’m fairly sure Kenny would have won anyway
Florian is on fire and if he fights sherk again, if sherk has the title still- florian will definetly win.
The key to beating sherk is not ending up under him where he will lay on top of his opponet for the remainder of the round/fight.
sherk being stripped of the title bj penn getting it and
Kenny florian against penn for penns first title defence
would be excellent
and Kenny winning.

This is really unfortuante. Thomas is a stud, and I think that fight would of been alot better. Florian should definetly give him a rematch

Poor Din, a good guy, a good LW prospect. Hope he gets back in there quick as possible.

The fight ended in the first round!

No one knows what would have happened should Din not have gotten hurt, period.

I agree, everyone is submising that keeny flo would have won anyway, that shouldnt be the case as din is a good fighter and anything could have happened. There has to be rematch for clarity on this! Plus it will be an exciting fight to watch!!

din would have killed kenflo.. and will in the rematch if kenflo has the balls to give him a rematch… but i think kenflo knows that and will duck and avoid din and keep a cheap win. there will never be a rematch..
