The crop of 18 fighters for UFC 76: “Knockout” have all weighed-in this evening for the pay-per-view (PPV) event tomorrow night from The Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Jon Fitch was the only fighter in the field who failed to make weight, coming in one pound over the 170-pound limit at 172 pounds (fighters are allowed to be one pound over in non-title fights.)
He has one hour to lose the last pound. Update: Fitch lost the weight and came in at 171.
Not surprisingly, former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell got the biggest ovation.

Are you serious? That’s kind of a hater mentality you have there. In 20 years, EVERYthing we know of today will seem like Ty Cobb to Barry Bonds (although A-Rod is a better example since a-Rod doesn’t roid(cheat) to get his homers).
Everything is relative and if you don’t enjoy UFC events then something’s wrong with your sense of what is entertainment. I’ve seen a lot of “great main event” fights end up to be boring and I’ve seen two no-name fights end up to be the fight of the night.
That’s the great thing about MMA is that something within that 3-hour PPV (and it’s usually a bunch of moments) is going to make me jump out of my seat and start screaming at my TV in sheer excitement with the hair standing up on my back.
There’s not one other sport that can guarantee that excitement twice a month. Football, baseball, hockey, basketball, boxing all pale in comparison to the excitement levels of UFC right now and it’s only getting better.

For someone who isn’t a fighter those are some mighty big words sir. I myself cross train in several disciplines, and also am a pretty accomplished wrestler. I think that the thing to realize is that “ripped” doesn’t equal in shape. In shape is a state of being with core and “real” strength. If you do curls all day your arms will be fantastically ripped, and you’ve accomplished getting really good at curls. If you throw punches all day, you’re really good at throwing punches, and since the different muscle groups react differently, you may be in fantastic shapte, and not be ripped. So until you are a fighter and you understand the difference, maybe not so negative nancy about a pretty decent card. And Congrats on your grandma being better than Von Flue.
