Nick Diaz is the man, he put on another great performance and got the win. Thats all that matters, and for everyone that is dissin his puching power why dont you get in the ring with him and see what he does to you. I do believe he did knockout the new eliteXc MW champ. And if you look at robbie during the post fight interview when aina is talking, you see him shaking his head agreeing with aina that diaz is one of the best in the world, and he is THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
Johnn, Ninja did not look good against Lawler. Zero strikes were exchanged in the first 40 seconds as the circled each other. By the second round, Ninja already appeared to be getting tired and it became obvious that Lawler would win by knockout, it was only a matter of time.
Man Violent Mike you could'nt be anymore right about Ninja..I mean in the middle of the first round I was thinkin, if ninja can't take him down or get lucky hes gonna get caught and knocked out...Not to mention did ya'll notice Lawler smiling for the majority of the fight... It was as if he couldn't wait for the inevitable.

Ninja fighting style really dissapointed me... I saw him scatter to throw a kick and punch about 3 or 4 times...And those attemps had no form to them, that showed his desperateness to strike and I know that Robbie caught on to that..Also I saw him try to implement the chutebox style of fighting by being constantly agressive but that failed for him miserably..

I was just catching up from the weekend, and in the Chuck Liddell is prepared thread, on Friday I put predictions for 3 of the fights. I typed:

Nick Diaz will KO/TKO Aina in the first round.
Jake Shields dominates Sheruto and wins by GnP, I don't know if he can submit Sheruto unless he drops him first and Sheruto is completely dazed.
Robbie Lawler beat Ninja in an upset to become MW champ.

I had the second and third right on the money (ESPECIALLY Shields dominating and winning by GnP. That was as exact as you can get!).

And I also read some people dissing Nicks punching power. Yes, sometimes it appears that he is just pitter pattering, but there is something behind those punches, just ask everyone he's knocked out. Also, Nick throws a LOT of punches because he utilizes his reach advantage. If he put everything he had behind every punch, he would tire himself out. PLUS, did you see Mike Aina's face? It looked like he got beatdown by Fedor by 3 rounds, not peppered by Diaz! But what Nick does is constantly land punches, and when he gauges his opponents reactions, setting him for the knock out. As soon as that split second arises, he will put more behind the punch.
Gina Carrano, Jake Shields, and Robbie Lawler looked great in their wins. Nick Diaz looked great the only problem is they never give him credit for those small little peppering shots. Mike Aina's FACE looked horrible. He has such a great style of just landing perfect on everything he throws. Lawler owne Rhua letting him get comfortable throwing hands, then Goodnight, Ninja!
Jake Shields = WOW. That was a dominating performance. Can you imagine if they didn't stop that fight? Cheruto would have brain damage, no doubt. Jake was relentless with his strikes from the mount. I was amazed at how easily Jake was able to trasition to the mount against someone with the BJJ skills as Cheruto.

Gina Carrano with a submission! That was nice to see, but I prefer seeing Gina stand and bang. I'm surprised that no one mentioned a comment made by the announcers. One of them said that "Before the fight, Tonya had said that she'd prefer to make out with Gina Carrano then knock her out, but tonight she was going to have to knock her out". Then Goldberg says "I wouldn't touch that with a 25 foot pole" And Mauro says "But I'd sure love to touch it with my 25 centimeter pole"
Priceless!

No one mentioned a peep about the Villasenior/Fukuda fight. That was a highly entertaining, evenly matched fight.
Does anyone know if Shogun was in Ninja's corner? if so, how did he look? I ask this question because everyone is saying that Shogun is fat now.
His brother Shogun was not in his corner.
nick diaz was gonna be on ultimate fighter 4 but got injured and left
John, from what I understand, it had nothing to do with an injury, he just didn't want to be on the TUF REALITY Show. He did not have much respect for the TUF alumni, just look at all the pre and post fight interviews of him after he fought Diego Sanchez. But now that his brother Nate was on it and won it, I doubt that he'll be bad mouthing the TUF alumni as a whole, but I'm sure that he would call out individual fighters if need be.
I think maybe diaz smoked a big fat spliff before he came out to fight tonight.
Dude, no kidding. That's exactly what my wife and I were saying. I am SO happy that I was able to get my wife interested in Nick Diaz. She only watches fighters that she likes, then she goes and watches what she wants in the bedroom. She also watched the main event, cuz Matt Hughes is one of her favorites, and it was the first televised fight of a H.I.T. Squad fighter.

As far as the Diaz fight goes, he just didn't take the fight seriously because he never heard of his opponent. A lot of fighters think that, but that was one of the first times I heard the fighter say it in the post fight interview in front of the other fighter, lol.

Diaz lost round 1. Round 3 was close, especially since he got sent to the floor, he was a little off balanced (just threw a kick) and only on one foot when he got hit though. In the middle of round 2, I was yelling for him to take him down. I told me wife that if he can get him down with a minute to go, he'll choke him out. He gets the takedown and back control with, 35 seconds in the round. If the round was 10 seconds longer, he would have gotten the choak. Then round 3, he gets the takedown with about a minute and a half. If THAT round was 2 seconds longer, he would have won by armbar.

I honetly thought that I just witnessed my favorite fighter of all time get beaten by a no named nobody. However, they said it was a split decision and as soon as they said the first judges scored it 30-27 Diaz, I knew he won it. But what is up with the judges scoring? There is no way Diaz won round 1. He wasn't even trying.
